Thread title should have been "trade for," not "trade of," whatever that means.
-
I have most (but not all) of the earlier costume codes thanks to winning them during the Party Pack give-away.
I had a trade set up with someone who went to the recent meet-n-greet where they gave away the Meat Doctor costume code, but it's starting to look like that's not going to happen after all.
So, if you have an unused Meat Doctor code, and you're willing to trade it one-for-one for one of the earlier costume codes, shoot me a PM and let me know which one(s) you're interested in.
Thanks. -
You mean your assignment in Anchorage is finally over? Just in time too - I hear it gets cold there in the winter.

Sorry for the late notice guys, but one of the other engineers in my department took the week off and I got saddled with straightening out a huge mess of a job of his. I'll be at work until at least 7 tonight, and possibly until after 8.
And you cannot imagine how badly this makes me want to punch something. -
I used to use Westfield Comics subscription service years ago, and they were top notch. It was like 15 years ago though.
The drawback to ordering online is that I think a lot of services want you to order 3 months in advance so they don't get stuck with a lot of books, or run out of hot sellers. -

My DP/Dev blaster dressed as Velma from Scooby Doo...
My Mind/Fire dominator dressed as Jesse Quick from JLA #50...

Quote:OK, I think I may have been misremembering the Treat text as a salvage or inspiration drop, and that's now what lead me to believe that the mobs were dropping the Tips, but now that I think about it, I've have gotten the Treat text as well, so it makes sense that they are dropping from the door.Every single halloween tip drop I've received (20-25 spread out over 4-5 characters) has been accompanied by the TREAT text. This makes them door drops. When I get a halloween costume or halloween salvage drop from a mob, I never see the TREAT text, like I do when they are door drops.
My mistake. -
Quote:I have been very carefully watching for the Tips to drop on my two badge toons because as soon as they do, I stop Trick or Treating and go run the Tip mission. (I also know exaclty what other tip missions I had, so I know no new ones dropped). It has always appeared to me that the Tip drops from a mob defeat. I suppose it is possible that I have defeated the first mob out the door so fast that it appears that the tip dropped from them, but I doubt it.I've heard a couple reports otherwise, but nothing definitive. My personal experience has been every Halloween tip came from a Treat Door click.
I'm far more willing to believe someone had a Halloween tip, didn't notice, then got a regular tip on a mob kill and saw the Halloween tip when they looked.
Have the devs confirmed that the doors are what cause the drops, not mob defeats, or are we just relying on empirical evidence? -
Just to confirm - if you run a Halloween Tip mission on a team, everyone on the team gets to pick a badge and a reward at the end, right? Not just the mission holder?
Also, I see everyone saying these tips drop from knocking on the doors, but in my experience, they have dropped from defeating the mobs. -
Quote:It may be supposition and presumption but it's supposition and presumption that is planted on pretty solid ground. There is a book with Malleus in its title that was used in the middle ages to ostensibly destroy witches. There is a badge in this game called Malleus that you get for "destroying" witches. It's not like she had to use six degrees of separation or build some kind of semantic Rube Goldberg arguement to arrive at her conclusion.it's named after a generic Latin word.
The rest is supposition and presumption.
Again, I'm not of the opinion that the badge name needs to be changed, but the more I read, the less I feel that her feelings on the subject should be dismissed out of hand. -
I do see GG's point even if I think it's a fight that doesn't need to be fought. Think about it in relation to a more recent example.
What if there was a badge on Red Side for helping the Fifth Column (who we all know are thinly veiled Nazis) called the "Auschwitz" Badge?
Or, what if the badges for the safeguard/mayhem side missions involving bombs were "Alfred P. Murrah" badges? -
I am frankly amazed to learn that they didn't stop making Walkmans years ago.
I don't think I ever had an actual Walkman, but I had some off brand - probably a Tandy from Radio Shack or something. I also don't remember listening to it that much, because I bought more records than I did tapes, and what tapes I did buy, or friends made for me, I played on my Technics home stereo instead.
One of the biggest regrets of my late teen, early 20s years was giving my mom the OK to sell all of my albums at a yard sale. I think I had just over 100 at the time, and I never did replace most of them with CDs like I thought I would. Oh well, at least I kept her away from my comic books and Star Wars toys. -
Quote:Does every single one of your villains need a witch's hat? If so, as others have said, no, that's not the only way for villains to get it. But, if you only have a few characters who really need it, I think getting it during the Halloween event is a lot less time consuming than going rogue and running the KHTF.I just got the message that I can access the witches' hat on my villain after getting the Meticulous Badge. Was this announced somewhere and I missed it? Am I going to have to try and get this badge on every single one of my villains this week before the offer expires?

***Urgent Bulletin from Police Comissioner Jordan***
Attention Blue Shield...
Reports have been coming in from all over the city about children being attacked while trick or treating by mystically transformed residents.
-- In Atlas Park on Friday a girl in a Hello Kitty costume was chased three blocks by a housewife who had been inexplicably turned into a werewolf. Fortunately, a quick-thinking bystander was able to save the girl when he rolled up the newspaper he was reading and bravely smacked the creature across the muzzle, causing it to flee towards City Hall where employees of MAGI were able to capture it and restore the housewife's normal form.
-- In Kings Row three teens were injured Saturday evening while "TPing" the D. Stevens residence when they were startled by what they described as, "A witch and some zombie-looking dude," who emerged from the house as the boys were climbing down from the tree in their front yard. Later investigations found nothing amiss at the house, but neighbor G. Kravits coorobrated the teens' story.
-- And just last night in Talos Island a group of parents and children were stopped just as they were about to walk off the end of the pier at Spanky's Boardwalk. The last thing any of them remembered was knocking on a door while trick-or-treating and being greated by what they thought was a man dressed as "one of those vampires from that movie."
Trick or Treating has been suspended for the rest of the city until the PPD and MAGI can get to the bottom of this; with the exception of Founders Falls. That is where Blue Shield comes in. We would like you three to investigate in Founders Falls on Tuesday, October 26th. For this assignment you will be undercover as "trick-or-treaters," so each of you will need some sort of costume. You may provide your own, or the PPD can provide something for you to wear.
You will need to canvass the neighborhoods, knocking on as many doors as you can. If you encounter any transformed residents, you will need to subdue them, and attach modified medical transport devices to them. The devices will teleport the afflicted individuals to MAGI headquarters for examination and treatment. If you find any evidence of, or receive any tips regarding what is causing this phenomenon you are at liberty to investigate at your own discretion.
***End Bulletin***
((I thought I'd throw out the suggestion of doing some T-or-Ting with our Blue Shield toons tomorrow night - thus an RP reason for it. I also thought it would be fun(ny) if each of us dressed up in a costume. I'm not talking about one of the temp power costumes, I mean make up a costume from the costume creator.
For example, Shannon could dress up as Sister Psyche, or Black Widow or something. Once we get some of the temp power costumes, we can switch to those to see if we can get the Tip for the Praetoria mission (from which I want the rare recipe reward).
What do you think? If you'd rather not, it's cool with me,. I thought it would be a nice change of pace from running mission after mission, but you guys might already be sick of trick-or-treating in game, so just let me know. Shannon will probably dress up in a costume regardless.))

I won't object if the name of the badge is changed, but I also don't mind if it stays the same. I don't think that the badge being called "Malleus " is going to make anyone think it is OK to murder or even persecute women. Heck, 99% of the players here probably have no idea to what it refers.
Quote:Defeating witches is ok in the game, because they're real witches - but it's not ok when the badge for it is a reference to the murder of real people for being "witches".
On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I know some people who would object to the opinion that it's OK to portray real witches as villainous women who have to be defeated. -
My contribution doesn't really fit the theme of bumper stickers I wish I hadn't seen, because I thought it was the best political bumper sticker I'd seen in a long time.
"Re-Elect... No One" -
Never mind, I got a tip 4 minutes after I posted this.
Hmmmm...
Is it bad luck that keeps me from winning the lottery, or just an inability to pick good numbers?
Off to buy some Powerball tickets! -
Is there a limit to the number of tip missions you can have available? I've been trying to get the Halloween tip mission, but I don't know if its the fact that I have three tip missions available that I've never run, or just bad luck that's preventing me from getting it.
I only have one regular mission available, and I think they recently increased the number of available missions we can have to 8, right? -
Can't access the original link from work because the site is flagged as "Adult Entertainment"(?) but following on SerialBegger's post, my first PC was a CompuAdd.
I think bought it in 1991 or 1992 and it cost about $2500 or $2700. It was state of the art at the time in that it had both 5-1/8" and 3-1/4" floppy drives. I wish I could remember what processor it had in it. I think it was better than an 8486 though, maybe 1 meg. I think it had either a 40 or 80 meg hard drive (1/4000th the memory of my current laptop) -
I did a little TorTing on my lvl 37 Mind/Emp controller this morning before work. Had about 20 tricks give or take, including a few with Vamp bosses and Crones (witch bosses).
It was slow going, due to my lack of damage, but I did not find the mobs to be particularly difficult. Of course being able to confuse or hold them so they can't attack me certainly helped.
Last year, when I was TorTing in AP with low level toons, I was regularly getting my rear end handed to me, so I definitely think the challenge is inversely proportional to level. -
Jay Laga'aia
Gregg Easterbrook
Linda Cardellini
I know Linda Cardellini isn't exactly obscure, but she is beautiful, and I want her at my party. -
When the first person decides to make a graphic of their character, let us know how it turns out. I'm a little skeptical that screen shots of our toons will turn out as well as the high-def promo art they used to make these.
If they do turn out great though, I could see myself ordering some graphics of a character or two of mine.
