I've never heard that. I've read all of those books, except JSA, for decades and I remember their rosters varying from just a few members to a dozen or more. Not trying to be argumentive, but it seems like 7 is the exception rather than the rule...

Original Avengers: Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Wasp, Ant Man (5)

Original X-Men: Marvel Girl, Cyclops, Beast, Ice Man, Angel (5)

"New" X-Men: Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Banshee, Sunfire, Colossus, Thunderbird (8)

Original JLA: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern Aquaman, Flash, Martian Manunter (7)
  2. Regarding your original post asking how you would be perceived, or accepted, or whatever, I think that is more down to your actions and attitudes than the described physical attributes of your characters.

I'd never heard of the term futunari before I started playing this game, and I've never played such a character, but I have no problem with them on the whole. I am a guy who plays, and roleplays, multiple female characters; I have one character who is male but regularly "possesses" female bodies, and I have a concept for another character who is an amalgam of either a husband and wife, or fraternal twin brother and sister, so I consider myself pretty open minded when it comes to character concept.

Not everyone is open-minded though and when you encounter someone who isn't it's best to move on. Provoking them, or letting them provoke you is probably the worst thing you could do.

  4. Send yourself an ingame e-mail. You'll see a section where you can type in how much Inf you want to send on the e-mail form.
  5. After skimming the thread and not seeing it mentioned, I'll throw out the "Incarnations of Immortality" fantasy series from Piers Anthony. Let's, see there was...

    On a Pale Horse
    Bearing an Hourglass
    With a Tangled Skein
    Wielding a Red Sword
    Being a Green Mother
    For Love of Evil
    And Eternity

Order, spelling and exact titles subject to my pourous memory.

    As for Sci-Fi, I recommend...

Timeline and Jurassic Park (both better than their movie adaptations), and The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton.

    Spin by Robert Charles Wilson

Specifically, no. Speculatively, as well as the other Super Booster appear to have sold, it'd be hard to imagine they weren't.

The Magic booster alone probably financed half of GR; it seems like 95% of the players I come across have the Mystic Fortune power.
  8. I've heard of CEOs, CFOs, COOs, and CPO Sharkeys, but what is a CCO?
  9. I'd go for an announced name purge for say

    1) ALL characters on accounts that don't have a global name associated.

    2) All characters level 40 and under on accounts that have been inactive for 2 or more years.

Other than the circumstances of item 1) above, I don't think anyone who has played a character to 50 should lose that character's name.

And yes, "Good Name" is a subjective term.
  10. How much do you want to bet that on january 31st/February 1st there will be a bunch of posts of people complaining that...

    A) They didn't know until too late that the event had been extended,

    and/or,

    B) They still didn't have time to cash in all their candy canes?
  11. My guess would be 9999 also.

My reasoning - you can't sell or trade shards, just like you can't sell or trade AE tickets or merits, so it make sense that they'd have the same limit. Invention and Halloween salvage can be traded or sold, and both have much lower limits, perhaps to discourage/prevent stockpiling these items, but there is no reason to discourage stockpiling shards.

I think those who are stockpiing them are smart considering how many shards it would take to create a single second tier boost from scratch. A single Cardiac Core Boost for example would require 32 shards to create from scratch, so it is easily concievable that you may need hundreds of shards to create some of the more rare boosts.

Obviously some of the shard cost is offset by the fact that you can buy some components, like Grai Matter, outright, and some you receive for completing TFs, but folks who like to solo are going to need a lot of shard inventory to create all the boosts they want.

  13. Gratz to you on the new opportunity, Ocho, and best wishes for a prosperous 2011 and beyond.

And much luck to the CSR who has to fill your shoes.

Specifically his inspiration came from the novel, "The Killer Angels" by Michael Shaara - a recounting of the four day battle of Gettysburg from the perspective of the Confederates. It's an excellent novel, and was made into the also excellent movie, "Gettysburg."

I believe the Battle of Serenity Valley was a parallel for the battle of Gettysburg in that it was the beginning of the end for those who were fighting against the government.

Only one boost can be used at a time but they can be swapped.

You get the new slot when you complete the Mender Ramiel arc
OK, thanks. I haven't actually created a boost yet, so I guess that's why I'm not seeing the Incarnate selection in the powers window.

Last questions for now - if I can create more than one boost, but only slot one, where do the others go? Into my enhancement tray? Can boosts be stored like other enhancements in base storage? I'm guessing the answer to that last one is no.
  17. Does anyone know if anyone has compiled a Guide to Alpha Slotting yet?

Aside from running the introductory arc and starting to collect shards and components, I haven't played with the system at all. My main questions are:

    1) If I create a boost, I need to slot it into a specific power using an existing slot, correct? We don't actually get a new "Alpha" slot that we can add to a power do we?

    2) If we do get a new slot, when does it appear?

    3) If we have to use existing slots, can I create more than one boost (i.e. one of the Cardiac type and one of the Spiritual type) and slot both/all of them at the same time?
  18. No word of an extension yet.

I still have my fingers crossed, but I'm not holding my breath.

Actually, the first code they gave away was the Freakshow Tank code at San Diego Comic-con the summer of 2008. The PPD Hardsuit code at PAX '08 was second.

I bowed out of the team before the next LadyW run to play with a buddy that had fortuitously just logged on.
Ran a LW on Sunday with four players - all Scrappers I believe (all melee at any rate). Two were lvl 50, one was around 20, and I forget what the fourth one was. To my surprise and delight, we had no trouble with her at all. The lvl 20 scrapper fell in the fight against Lady Winter, but everyone else came out unscathed.
  21. The most surprising part of the announcement, for me, was finding out there are still newsstands.
  22. I only have three characters of lvl 41 or higher, and I have never messed with their second, or now third, builds.

My first question is, if I have a lvl 50 villain, who has always been a villain, and I work on her second build, is it locked into the PPP I took with the first build, or can I choose a different one?

My second question is, can I choose an APP instead of a PPP when leveling her second or third builds?
  23. You have to host it on a website somewhere. I use imageshack, but that is just one of many possibilities.
  24. I went a bit more literal with the Flaming C name, as well as a bit more villainous.
