  1. I don't think 2xXP weekends have ever included AE experience, and I doubt they ever will, though I could be wrong on both counts.

As for trial accounts, I guess it will be good to show them the game during such a high population event, but like someone else said, they'll likely hit the level cap in an hour or two, and then what?

The website says Thursday till Sunday but the link to the time and date says Tuesday for us on the East coast.
If it follows the same pattern as every other 2xXP weekend and pretty much every event since I joined three years ago, it will end with the server maintenance on Monday. That of course will vary based on where in the world you live.
  3. My main villain is actually a mercenary, which I guess is similar to, if not the same as, a Rogue. She will kill criminals for money, and will hurt anyone who stands in the way of her making a living, but she has sworn never to harm innocent people.

I would convert her to a Rogue and be done with it, but then I wouldn't be able to earn alignment merits. As a result, I run Tip missions, and I always choose the villainous path, but I run them solo. That way I can just pretend to myself that she never did those things and no one else can prove me wrong.

Eventually I will turn her to the Rogue side, but I wanna bank a bunch of A-merits first.
  4. Has a sign-up thread been created for any of the future raids?

I still need this badge, and the attendent rewards, on my bluedise badge toon.
  5. My inspirations are ordered by columns too, but not like everyone elses':

Column 1: Alternating yellow and red.

    Column 2: Greens

Column 3: Alternating purple and orange, or all purple.

Column 4: From bottom to top: Awaken-Breakfree-purple-green-blue

    Column 5: Blues

Columns 3 and 4 are interchangeable, and the order of Column 4 allows me to rez, shakeoff the stun effect, defend myself, heal myself and restore my endurance in rapid succession - hopefully before I get defeated again.

When I want a barefoot character, I usually go with the Zombie feet. They aren't perfect, but they look 100 times better than the normal bare feet.

And NBC can use any of the characters they like even though only one person is getting the prize. Sounds to me like they are trying to get a season or two worth of creativity for less than they would pay a regular writer to come up with a few concepts.

Their next contest will probably be "Write a script and win an autographed picture of Summer."
Of course they're not going to give the creator credit - that would probably cause too much concern about litigation.

And a prize of $500 for something that would take most people 15 minutes or less to think up? I'm pretty sure TV writers don't make $2000 an hour.
  9. Thanks guys. Unfortunately, I tried all three suggested and got the following messages:

"Unable to join channel 'Guardian' because it is at full capacity."

"Unable to join private channel 'Level 50'."

"Channel 'Guardian Teams' does not exist. Would you like to create it?"

Looks like I'm hosed, at least temporarily.

ETA: I didn't try Guardian Incarnates, "Guardian's Team", or Guardian TF. I'll look into those later.
  10. A few weeks after I started playing, I was in Outbreak on a new scrapper. I inquired about badge teams and got invited to one. Once we'd all gotten our badges, the leader invited me to join his SG, I figured I had nothing to lose so I agreed.

He then showed me around the base along with another member of the SG and then they each gave me 500,000 influnce. Being a newbie, I thought 1-million inf was a HUGE amount, and told them I couldn't possibly accept. They just laughed and said they had multiple lvl 50s, each with hundreds of millions of inf.

Three years later, they have both since left the game, and I inherited the SG. I now occasionally do as others mention and hang out in AP or on Mercy Island and gift excess inf, or other shiny things to newbies. Oddly, folks in Mercy Island refuse my trade offer about 25% of the time. I guess they think because I play a villain, I must be trying to rip them off some how.
  11. Is there a list of global channels for Guardian somewhere? I joined a couple on Virtue and it was the best decision I ever made. Lots of times when I'm puttering around on the weekend, someone will broadcast for interest in a TF or SF and if I'm in the mood and have the time, I'll jump in.

I'd love to find a similar channel(s) in Guardian, since about 1/3 of my characters are here, including one of only two 50s I have. I'd like to play them more, but I'm too lazy and or introverted to start my own teams, so more often than not, they just languish in superhero limbo.

So, please give me your suggestions/preferences for global channels I can join for regular, yet casual teaming for TFs, Trials, and other junk.

    Thanks!
  12. Sorry for the thread Necromancy or whatever it's called, but this is to let people who didn't read Second Measure's first Producer Letter, know that he mentioned some information on the future of the game would be forthcoming at PAXEast 2011.

Last year Paragon Studio's attendence wasn't announced until after the tickets to the show had sold out, but as of now, there seem to be plenty of tickets left. No announcement of which day the panel is going to take place (I assume there will be a panel), or when/whether there will be a M&G, but I just went ahead and bought a 3-day pass to be safe (it's 21% cheaper then two 1-day passes).
  13. Janet Van Dyne was never a scientist - she was a socialite and later a fashion designer. However, she did serve one of the longest and most successful terms as Chairperson of the Avengers in the 80's/90's.

Storm also served as leader of the X-Men for years, and Sue Richards was/is largely considered the most powerful member of the Fantastic Four.

As for female scientists, the only one I can think of off the top of my head is the X-Men's ally Moira McTaggert. Certainly none of the "most brilliant" minds in the Marvel Universe are ever depicted as women. That list usually consists of Reed Richards, Hank Pym, Bruce Banner, Tony Stark, and maybe Charles Xavier and Hank McCoy.

I can't speak to the history of women in DC comics because I haven't read them as long, or extensively, as I have Marvel.

I certainly think mainstream comics are still sexist to a degree because the majority of comic book writers and artists are men, as well as the majority of comic book readers. However, read something by Amanda Conner, or Terry Moore, or Joss Whedon, and tell me they don't write strong female characters.

Please keep in mind that I am not the only player like this - just one of the few that vocally speaks about it on the forums.

I can appreciate the desire to deliver some of the "challenge" so oft clamoured for by others, but I'm not going to sacrifice my enjoyment of the only MMO I've ever loved for their sake, and I hope you decide you won't either.
I agree with you from the standpoint that I too play, and love, this game because it is "easy." That said, if it becomes too easy, it becomes boring. I have alpha slotted one of my characters already, and even though it's only a single tier 2 boost, I have noticed a significant difference in how the character plays.

I can only imagine what the difference will be like with ten rare or ultra-rare boosts slotted. If it got to the point where playing pre-Incarnate lvl 50 content felt like hunting Hellions in Atlas Park with a lvl 50 blaster, then I would probably not want to play an Incarnate charater.

And I think (hope) that's what the Devs have in mind when they say "the most challenging content ever" - content that would crush your favorite lvl 50 character three months ago, but which will be fun to play with your ultra-powered Incarnate character.

As for all this gear-gated, whatever-gated talk... I don't know what that's all about, but isn't everything outside of Atlas Park/Galaxy City and Mercy Island "gated" to a certain extent? I can't run a Synapse Task Force with a lvl 1 controller, and I'd dare not go street sweeping in Nerva with my lvl 1 Mastermind.

So what if you have to run an arc and craft some very easy to obtain enhancements to increase your power sufficiently to run the new "End Game" content? What if they raised the level cap to 60 - would you complain that you actually had to play to get your character to 60?

Thanks for the update, Second Measure. I'm looking forward to many more. Thanks for the early notice about 2xXP weekend, and for scheduling it for the weekend between the NFL Conference Championships and the Superbowl. And thanks for "spilling the beans" as it were about attending PAXEast - I just bought my ticket, so all I need to know now is if there will be a M&G, and if so, which night.

Finally, my guess for the "under pressure" clue is an underwater zone as well.

...we have an upcoming Booster Pack that players have been asking for, and that is going to be pretty awesome. I'm sure they'll pounce on it the second it hits the store.
Emphasis mine, but this reinforces my belief that we're getting animal parts and/or running on all fours.

ETA: MentalMaden beat me too it in the I19.5 thread.
  16. To the OP:

It's more labor intensive than the method you'd prefer, but you could always have SG1 Member e-mail the item to SG2 Member to place into storage, and then when you need it, have SG2 Member pull it out of storage and e-mail it back to SG1 Member.

All I can say is what a great game, and wish I had bought it a long while ago.
I have played so many Aion, Lineage 2, Guild Wars, just dont know why I let this one slip by that'll teach me.
The costume pieces you refer to are designated with the names "Sinister" and "Justice". There are various pieces for these two sets that appear under the selections for Chest, Legs, Gloves, and Boots, as well as patterns for these parts. Not sure if the sets include anything else.

Yes, Sting of the Manticore gives a 7.5% recharge bonus when 5-slotted, so you can use it more often, meaning more damage over time.

You're right, the show was actually watchable again. I have been watching Survivor religiously since the beginning of Season Two, and Russell and his interminable camera time actually made me give up the show about five episodes in last year. It wasn't until friends told me he'd been voted off that I started watching again.

As for quitters, if Probst, who is a producer, if not an executive producer, really hated them, they wouldn't have, and in my opinion shouldn't have, been on the jury.

Finally, regarding the casting process, it's my understanding that the producers look for pretty faces and/or hard bodies more so than good players, which always backfires because either the eye candy gets voted off right away, thus defeating the purpose of casting them in the first place, or worse, they stick around and you end up with a bunch of dopes like this season that don't understand the game and can't, or don't want to, play it.

Go back to using people who truely want to be on the show to win a million dollars and stop casting pretty boys and wannabe models who only want on the show to further their "Acting" careers.

I don't hate the Redemption Island idea as much as I hated the season where they just arbitrarily put two people who'd been voted off back in the game, but I'm not loving it either. I'll reserve final judgement until I see how it plays out though.

Sorry for the threadjack, but you guys started it.

    Team Dynamics

Move out from under the statue and head to the police station. That way when you log and run missions to use up your Patrol XP, you'll also get an XP bonus at the completion of every mission. And, you'll be earning credit towards two day job badges.
  24. It's only been three years for me, but I still do the same thing with belts from time-to-time.

And we've only had access to the power for like a year and a half(?) but I still forget to set my mission when soloing before I click on the Mission TP power, which typically results in me being even further from my mission, and with no way to TP there. A QoL issue I really wish they'd fix.
  25. Congrats on reaching your Fifth Anniversary! With the overall decline in game, and server population, its a pretty big accomplishment to keep a SG active that long. To me anyway. The SG I was recruited into when I joined Guardian fell apart about a year after I joined, and I have been the sole member of it for another year or so now.

Psst: Your post says the group was established a year before you began recruiting. Probably just a Nemesis plot, but you might want to look into that.
