    E-mail rollback?

I've heard of people loosing all their e-mails, but I've never heard of anyone's e-mails reverting to what they were days earlier. And it must not affect everyone every time, because this is the first time it's ever happened to me.
  3. If I create a costume on the test server using the new Beast Pack parts, can I save it on my computer and then pull it up after I purchase the pack on the 23rd?

I did my first ever BSF last night with a Virtue PUG team and what I realized is that if you end up getting overwhelmed/wiped by the ambushes, the best thing to do is have everyone exit by dying, or as suggested in another thread, teleporting out via O-Portal.

When we all regrouped at the mission entrance, we were able to bottle up the ambushes at a choke point on the catwalks and whittle them down ala the Spartans at Thermopylae (sp). This made finishing the SF MUCH easier for us.

    E-mail rollback?

That's what's weird - my recent e-mails are gone, but old e-mails are back.

Oh, and neve e-mail yourself a super valuable item unless you are going to immediately switch characters and claim it. Too risky to leave in your e-mail IMO.

Though, if I'd e-mailed myself a purple recipe on Sunday, I might have gotten a duplicate of it today.

    E-mail rollback?

    tl/dr version at the bottom.

I logged in this morning before maintenance, grabbed some recipes out of e-mail, did some crafting, and then threw some crafted enhancements in e-mail for my other characters to use.

I just logged in again, from a different computer if that matters, and I tried to grab the enhancements I e-mailed myself, but they weren't there. My first thought was, "did I do something really stupid and mispell my global handle, thus e-mailing them to someone else?" But then I realized that I was seeing recipes in my e-mail that had not been in there since the weekend.

I often e-mail common IO recipes from various characters and then grab them with the two toons I'm trying to get the crafting badges on. I also e-mail set IO recipes when I'm on a TF and my character's inventory fills up.

When I logged off this morning, my e-mail had about 15 set IO recipes, no common IO recipes, and three lvl 45 recharge reduction enhancements. When I logged back on, it had no enhancements and about 4 or 5 common IO recipes. Based on the levels of those common IO recipes, I know that I had already snagged and crafted them.

I don't remember what all I had in there - like I said, I often throw recipies into e-mail in the middle of missions - but I know it was nothing super rare; I learned from other's experiences not to use e-mail to transfer purple or PvP recipes or even rare salvage. So if I don't get back what I lost, I won't be heartbroken, but I wanted to bring this to somebody's attention.

tl/dr version: It looks like today's maintenance reverted my e-mail to the state it was in on Sunday or Monday.

I'm not promoting you making those characters but not all the companies will be checking every MMO publisher for that.
They don't have to be checking. Al you need is for some irate and/or immature player who feels like they were griefed, or on a bad team, or lost in PVP to get upset and report the offending character to the owner of the copyright/trademark. Maybe the owner would let it pass, maybe they wouldn't; NCSoft is just not willing to take that chance.
  8. I'm curious to see how easy it will be for lowbies to get teams for this TF/SF. I know I will be running them at least a couple of times with my level 50s in order to get the NotW, and progress towards the badges, and I suspect lots of other folks will too.

Once I finish that I may be too burned out to run them yet again with lower level characters.

  10. Now that we have these awesome looking costume pieces, and the beast run animation, can we please have a Beast Summoning MM set?

Tier one pets - panthers or cheetahs

    Tier two - lions, lionesses

    Tier three - tiger

Or you could mix and match felines with canines and make the tier three a big-*** minotaur.
  11. Arrgh, I'm going to be out of town and miss this. Had a great time at it last year.

Have fun, and good luck all!

So you're saying if I took the name of a popular anime character, and made a character with that name who was a baby-killing cannibal who sacrificed puppies and kittens and wore their blood into battle, and the creator of the original character found out about it, they wouldn't care?
  13. I wouldn't use the name of any well-known copyrighted (or trademarked) character from comics to anime to cereal boxes (like a certain Frosted Flakes spokescat).

Any use of a copyrighted/trademarked character's name, especially if combined with their likeness, makes Paragon Studios and NCSoft vulnerable to litigation. You say it's not commercial use, but the player is paying NCSoft for the ability to use that name, so in a way, NCSoft is making money off of it.

As for other players petitioning the name, certainly it's sometimes out of envy, or spite or another negative reaction, but many times it's a player trying to protect NCSoft by getting the offending name (be it for copyright/trademark reasons or vulgarity) removed before some litigious entity spots it.
  14. This is stilll on? I had no idea. Is it any good?

I watched the first half dozen episodes, but then in switching over from TiVo to a Comcast dvr, I forgot to keep recording it.
  15. If you have room on the Thursday Dr. Khan, I'd be interested in joining you with my BS/WP scrapper, Erin Brand.
  16. Doesn't the "60" include patterns though? And if you count head, chest, gloves, legs, boots separately, that's five entries for each new pattern...

This was the first time I saw the actual strike target announced anywhere official and I was looking around for it.
I don't disagree with your suggestions - I think a Strike Target of the Week message could be pretty cool if done correctly.

However, if a casual player wants to do these, it's probably because they want the Incarnate rewards they offer, and if they are into Incarnate stuff, they must already be one the boards and/or wiki, because there is no way a casual player could figure out that system on their own. I read the boards and wiki almost daily and I still have more questions about the Incarnate system than I do answers
  18. I kind of like Knight Widow ________ myself, but yeah, Operative ________ works for me too.

    Thanks for all the replies.
  19. Players who have unlocked VEATs can make male versions of Arachnos Widows and/or Fortunatas. "Widow" is obviously a feminine noun, though I'm not sure about "Fortunata".

Has anyone ever come up with a naming convention for male characters of these ATs? "Widower" sounds kind of dumb to me, and again, I'm not sure what, if anything, you'd need to do to make a masculine version of Fortunata.

    Any thoughts?
  20. On February 4th, I appreciate:

∙ The Devs for reopening the ski chalet. Whether it was an error, an apology for the I19.5 snafu, or just out of the goodness of their hearts, It was a pleasent and unexpected surprise.

∙ The Rooney family for running one of the classiest, most well-respected organizations in all of sports. Win or lose on Sunday, I will be proud to be a Steelers fan on Monday.

∙ Sushi. Best Japanese export ever. Wait, Ming Na isn't Japanese is she?

Hmmm, short list this week. There's plenty of other stuff I appreciate, its just not coming to mind at the moment. Have a great weekend all, and...

    GO STILLERS!
(as heard in a Pittsburgh accent)
  21. So, is this on for 9 PM ET tonight?
  22. No, I don't know everyone, and I would be suspicious of anyone who claimed they did.

Seriously though, I took the liberty of looking up the name "Everyone" on the forums (something you may have already done) and there are no members by that name.

It's probably hopeless as they may be someone who quit years ago and never came back. Or they may just be ignoring you.
  23. I would actually be in favor of a power that could turn your entire character solid black. Or really any solid color you chose.

As for the Beast Pack - less teasing, more selling of, please!
  24. Here's the thing...

Mission Engineer is one of the easiet Accolade powers to earn in the game. It allows you to access the AE interface from anywhere, and could technically be earned at level 1.

I think it would be safe to assume that more people in this game use the markets than use the AE interface, so yes, I think it is silly to make the market interface a power that one has to play for seven years to obtain, when the AE interface is so stupid-easy to earn.

I like "goals" as much as anyone, but what is the goal involved with this reward from the standpoint of someone who just started playing today? Maybe they won't realize how much they could use this power until a few months from now, but then what do you tell them? "Buck up kid, all you gotta do is hope this game - which has already outlived most other MMOs - sticks around for another seven years, and you're golden!"

Remember all the press CoH got for making it to the amazing milestone of a 5th anniversary in 2009? Do you honestly think the game is still going to be around in 2018? I hope so, but am I confident? Not really.

Field Crafter is one of the most time consuming Accolade powers in this game, but it is an actual "goal" you can hope to achieve if you just started playing today. Why couldn't "Field Marketer" have been made available similarly? Maybe require people to vendor 150 or 200, or some other number, each of recipies, enhancements, salvage, and inspirations to unlock it. It would also have the favorable side-effects of increasing stock in the auction houses and destroying Inf.
