  1. Yeah, I'll probably show up just to see the costumes, but I may not wear one that has any shot at winning. That way someone who can't afford the pack, or really wants to win it, has a better chance.

    Market Bug?

Not sure if this was a case of bid-creeping or just a coincidence, but this morning I listed a recipe on the market for 999,013,013 inf, and this afternoon it sold for 999,999,999.

I knew I should have listed it for 1,000,000,013! But at least I finally broke the billion inf barrier on one of my characters.

    Tier 4 Alpha

There are ten Incarnate "slots," "categories," whatever, so I'm guessing each one will come with the opportunity for one level shift, thus eventually getting us to the "equivalent of lvl 60" that was talked about before.

I'll log my "no" vote for more badges in this vein. I have had fun running the WSTs with my blue and redside badge toons, but I also play on a couple of static teams every week, and I enjoy doing other stuff like ITFs, non-WST T/SFs, regular missions, and playing lowbie alts.

As a result, after nearly two weeks, I have three credits towards the second (10-count) badge on these two toons. With the LGTF being the next one, and with me having a fair amount of time this week and weekend, I am hoping to get close to, if not earn the 10-count badges this week.

However, I'm probably going to find running 14 LGTFs in a week very draining and will probably only run next week's WSTs twice each. All told, I'm guessing it will take me until mid-summer to get the 50 count badges, and I don't relish a 100-count badge that would take me close to a year to earn.

Yeah, it was one of the few badges, besides day job badges, that I could earn while going to the movies, reading a book, sleeping, going to work, etc.
  7. The forum rules and guidelines state:

    Quote:
Thread necromancy - Necro-posting is responding to an old discussion thread and is a form of thread ‘bumping’. If you wish to discuss a considerably older topic, create a new post and link to the older discussion.
But what is considered "considerably older"? I've seen two threads bumped today - one was about two months old and it got locked. The other one was five months old and is still open at the time of this writing.

The first thread had veered off-topic and it made sense for it to be closed, but the 5-month-old thread was still on topic. I considered posting in the 5-month old thread because it's an interesting topic, but I don't want to break any forum rules by doing so.
  8. I'm not the least bit upset or offended by the way you play the game, or by your original post. It seems to me to be a really unfun way to play the game, but like I said in my earlier post, more power to you if you enjoy it.
  9. I would think your best bet for something like this would be the 7th Anniversary event in April.

If run like the past two Anniversary events, there will be giant monsters running amok in various zones on every server, on both sides, and occasionally the signature heroes or villains from Recluse's Victory will show up.

If you start advertising/organzing soon, you might be able to put together something fun - like have everyone meet under the statue of Atlas, or in front of the university in Cap au Diable, and then travel from zone to zone to combat the threats as they pop up. You could do your roleplaying in the downtime between announcements of new threats.
  10. Yeah, I didn't know about the "one (application) and done" rule either.

Doing this TF last night with my BS scrapper, I noticed that at times I would hit him with Headsplitter and do a whopping 4 points of damage. Then later, after someone had zapped him with the ray gun, I'd hit him with Headsplitter for 400+ points of damage.

I figured the difference corrolated to the use of the DGR, and others who see something similar happening might too, but I guess it is some other mechanic of his defense/resistance causing the hugely varying amount of damage I was able to do to him.
  11. After reading this thread this morning, I decided to dust off my lvl 36 claws/regen scrapper and run him through a tip mission.

I was running at +1 x2 and I was getting worked over pretty good. I definitely need to sit down and respec him one of these days and build in more defense. I probably need to learn how to play him again too since it's probably been 6-8 months.
  12. Had a great time tonight, gang. Looking forward to next week!
  13. I'm gonna visit but not be bummed if I don't win. Unlike the "Party" pack, I want to buy this pack.
  14. I never thought I'd see anything that could rival the Iron Eagles' "Death=Delete" for a way, IMO, to make this game more stressful and less fun, but this blows that away.

More power to you, Steelclaw, if that's what you enjoy, but wow. To me this would be like forcing yourself to rewatch a whole TV series from the start every time a new character is introduced.
  15. On 2-11-11 I appreciate...

...the fact that the weather gods are finally sending some warmer, not warm, but warmer weather my way.
...the fact that, weather-wise, I still haven't had it as bad as the poor folks in the midwest, or New England.
...that the History Channel has stopped pretending they are still a channel about history, and instead admitted they're just another insipid network pandering to the American public's need for even more "reality" shows and ghost/alien/monster/Nostrodamus dreck. I have finally realized I can no longer turn to this channel when I want to learn something.
...PBS. They still show educational programs. Go NOVA!
...the awesome coffee mug an in-game friend bought me a few years ago. It says, "I am a Superhero cleverly disguised as an Engineer." (I am an engineer in real life)

To clarify, I meant no visual or audible clues as provided with the power Build-Up. As noted above, you can monitor it other ways, but I'm typically too busy clicking things and pushing buttons to look at all that other stuff.

    From the wiki:

"The Power of Mako has maximized your stealth potential, perhaps even enough to allow you to approach the Fail Safe devices. "

I don't remember anything about Fail Safe devices. What are they and what do they do?

Supposedly you can complete this without a MM/Def, and they seem like the ATs most critical to success, so I'd say, No Stalker, No Scrapper, No Failure.
  19. I never skip any of them, but then I probably haven't run them as much as some of you.
  20. To update my earlier post, it looks like you can get a Notice of the Well solo (or will be able to), it'll just be very pricey and time-consuming according to this thread:

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=252482

Also, one of the most efficient ways to earn shards IMO is Hamidon Raids. I usually come away with 3-4 per raid, plus once a day you can pick the 4 Shard reward at the end. If I do three raids in a row, I end up with 13-16 shards, 53 merits, and a Hami-O, all for about 2 hours work.

'Course, this involves teaming and being on a server that does regular and frequent raids.
  21. To add another note - when it does fire, there is no visual or audible effect. The only way to tell is to have your combat window open in chat.
  22. Every lvl 50, or higher, enemy you defeat after unlocking your Alpha slot has a chance to drop a shard.

As for the special components, you can craft them from shards, or in the case of G'rai Matter, you can buy it for 150 Vanguard merits. The only thing you can't earn solo, or at least most people can't, is Notice of the Well, which you can only get by completing the WST TF/SF.

Teaming speeds things up greatly, but it's possible to build up to tier two boosts by soloing.

  24. I only have two 50s - a BS/WP scrapper and a Mind/Fire dom. Obviously these are the only two I have to offer on any given TF or SF respectively.

I am slowly approaching 50 with a blaster and a controller, but I honestly don't know if I'm going to bother with the incarnate stuff for either of them.

The blaster is just a PPD cop who's good with a gun, so becoming an Incarnate doesn't really fit her concept. The Incarnate path could fit the concept of the controller, but it is proving to be more work than I thought to get the Alpha slot very rare boost.

I honestly can't see myself trying this on more than two characters. Not with nine more Incarnate slots to go on those first two.
