The problem with this suggestion is, it will not show me the "price" of things I do not have enough merits to purchase.

Part of the reason for my first question was that I have been considering turning my main villain into a rogue, partly because it fits her thematically, and partly to get some of the heroside badges, since she is one of my two badge characters. However, she is the leader of her VG, and second highest prestige-earner, and while I know I could promote another of my toons to take her place, I'd rather her not loose the leadership role at all, or the prestige count she has tallied. So that's really my question, I guess - can a Rogue lead and earn prestige for a VG?
  2. 1) Has anyone determined how many A-merits are needed to buy a purple recipe?

    2) Does a one step shift in alignment (i.e. villain to rogue, or hero to vigilante) lock you out of your VG/SG, or does it take a shift of two or three steps before that happens?
  3. Deep Purple Overture

Seriously though, I would guess something like Defense and Protection Organization

  6. My only disappontment was not being able to stick around long enough to get a gold title. Still it was fun to see all the folks turn out for this, and for the most part, everyone seemed to be in a happy, joking mood.

Can't wait to be able to snare one of these for myself on Wednesday!
  7. Which War Zone wre you guys in?

I hadn't given much thought to PvPIOs because

    A) I didn't know until this week that they didn't lose effectiveness when exemplaring either, and

    B) PvPIOs always struck me as more rare and less effective than purples.

Also, as Aedon mentioned, this being a dom, maximizing Recharge is a top priority, which again points to purples.

    Thanks for the replies!
  9. So we get three builds now. Ever since that happened, I started planning what I think of as a "Never Exemplar," or "True 50" build. In this build I would use 5 purple sets (when I could eventually afford them all) and fill everything else with lvl 50 set IOs or high level uniques since these are pretty affordable/easy to come buy.

In addition I'd have an "Exemplar" build filled with more expensive Set IOs in the 30-35 range, and low level uniques.

Then I started thinking, that's kind of dumb. A build with purples, set IOs in the 30-35 range, and low level uniques would be the best bet for an exemplaring build since purples don't lose their effectiveness or set bonuses when exemplaring (something I honestly just learned this week).

So then, knowing I'll never (in a reasonable time) have the Inf for two sets of all the purples I want, I started thinking about making a "True 50" build skipping the purples and just using lvl 50 Set IOs and high level uniques.

Does that last part make sense, or would the build with 5 purple sets and lvl 30-35 Set IOs still be more powerful at level 50? I know it depends to a degree on what sets I'm going for, but this is a Mind/Fire dom, so the purples would be the less expensive hold/sleep/confuse sets, and then hopefully an Apocalypse, and either an Armageddon, Hecatomb or Ragnarok set.
  10. We can give you a wedgie if it'll make you feel better.

I think those first two are generic enough that you'd be ok making pretty faithful copies of them as long as you don't give them a similar name. I have one character that looks a lot like the one in the second link you posted, and I don't even know who that is.

The third one is a little more distinctive, but nowhere near the generic bait a Sooperman or Wulfereen clone would be. Change the colors up a bit and I doubt you'd have any issues. Again, stay away from similar names though.

Also, the longer you're in the game and the more cool costumes you see on other player characters, the more apt you are to design something that is uniquely your own.

    Welcome to the City!
  12. SVB (Single Virtue Badger) looking for same. Interested in long walks on the beach, cripplingly painful headaches and third degree burns over 90% of your body? Then I'm your villain!

I'm looking for someone who is willing to get together once to several times per week for an hour or so at a time to work on earning the Disruptor badge (400 rep in PvP), and hopefully billions of inf in PvP drops as well. If this sounds like "fun" to you, shoot me a PM and we can discuss the details further.
  13. Has anyone tried this? Is it feasible, or even possible, to load a copy of CoH on a portable hard drive and take it from computer to computer to play?

There's a couple of ways to get into RP other than just randomly starting up a conversation in Pocket D or under the statue in Atlas Park. You could:

∙ Join an RP static team. There are two I'm on - one is a group of mostly young mutants and one is a group of Paragon City Police officers. I'm sure you'd be welcome to join us if you have a character with a compatible background. These teams have been going for almost a year now, so most of the characters are in the high 30s to mid 40s, but lower level characters would still be welcome. The mutant team is called The Gold Corporation and gets together on Virtue on Thursday nights from 7 to 9 PM ET. The PPD group is called the Blue Shield (see the thread below this one somewhere on the front page) and it meets up on Tuesdays on Virtue from 7 to 9 PM ET.

∙ Start your own RP static team. If you're not comfortable joining an established static team (which I could understand, but which isn't really necessary), you could try starting your own from scratch. Just come up with a theme - Grim and gritty vigilantes of the night, classic superheroes in the vein of the JLA or Avengers, a group of undead ballerinas who beat evildoers with pipe wrenches, etc. Then post a thread on this forum to gauge interest and get a team together.

∙ Randomly try to get on an RP friendly team. Another tact is to just broadcast something like ((level X scrapper looking for RP friendly team)). Then, if you get on a team, just play in character. If the others on the team are also playing in character, and you enjoy it, note who they are for future reference.
  15. It'll be a global bonus like the Alpha Slot, only more powerful. And to make up for it being more powerful, it'll shift you back down one level.
  16. Just pretend you are the character in question and speak and react in character as he, or she would.

When you want to speak out of character, ((use double parentheses around what you type, like I did here)).

I understand that, maybe, just maybe, WST is not only about Incarnate; and in fact it may be only a temporary measure to acquire notices of the well until I20 kicks in.

But as of now, Notices of the Well is a key ingredient for level 50s progessing through out the incanate system, and they can only be acquired via the WST.

Now we can play coy all we want, but lets face some obvious observables:

    1. Level 50s progressing in the incarnate system: Needs Notices of the Wells.
    2. Level 50s progressing in the incarnate system: Needs lots of shards, and I mean lots!

Why would a level 50 intent in doing the new incarnate material, have any interest in doing lowbie material?

Again we can play coy in this and come up with some lame excuses, but frankly, there is no good reason to do this from an incarnate progression perspective. Today with my 36 level 50 alts, I have no use for low level material, I need shards, shards, shards, and more shards.

As Wendy said, if we take a level 50 incarnate minded player and force him into Sister, what you think that player is gonna do?

"Duh, lets kill all mobs, because some whinny lowbie wants exp"

No, they are going to device and practice the most expedient way to complete a very boring TF to get the only thing of value from it: Notice of the well.

I have expressed my concern in other threads about mixing 50s with lowbies in TFs, and the week of Sis its going to get very very ugly.

The problem is that 2 very different set of goal minded people are going to collide head to head, I predict lasting enmities between players is going to occur from this.

What are the 2 main set of goal minded people?

The first, the obvious, lowbies using the TF to get exp and level. To these folk, nothing but a kill all mobs would be acceptable, plain an simple.

The second, and just as obvious, are level 50s hunting for Notices. To this folk, doing anything beyond what minimally is needed would be unacceptable.

Now I do point the finger at the developers for being "irresponsible" enough to set a clear situation "Sister TF" where these two frames of mind are guaranteed to collide.

Sheesh, and I thought this game was about having fun...

    Stormy

Ps: Fortunately by the time Sister comes around I would have accumulated sufficient notices, to not need to bother with Sister at all! After all I need to gain lots of shards from 50s content. Frankly, Sister is plainly a 100% waste of time. Incidentally, does Sister drop any decent recipes? Certainly no chance for purples...

First of all, there may be a mechanic in place by next week that allows lvl 50s to earn shards on the lower level WSTs, we don't know yet.

But even if there's not, you only get a NotW the first time you do a TF/SF on each character, so if you're so dead set against doing these, run it once, get your Notice, then go back to grinding ITFs, LGTFs, STFs, LRSFs, etc. for shards

There will still be plenty of incentive for folks to run the WSTs on non-incarnate characters - the XP bonus for example. So don't worry about having to team with "whinny [sp] lowbies," they'll do just fine on their own, I'm sure.

    "Hello?"

    "Hey, Giz, it's Shannon."

    "Hey, bosslady, what's up?"

"I found a disturbing memo in my inbox at the station this morning."

    "That sounds ominous."

"It is. It seems there are some law enforcement bigwigs from DC, New York, and L.A. in town this week. The Commissioner has organized a cocktail party with them tonight, and I have to go!"

    "Ouch."

    "And I have to wear a... a... a gown."

    "Double ouch."

"Yeah, I can tell by the snickering you're really broken up for me. Anyway, the reception starts at 6:30 and and runs until 9 or 9:30."

"So, we're on our own tonight, huh?"

"No, because you're going to call me around 6:45 and get me out of there. I don't care if you're just rescuing a kitten from a tree - call and make it sound like a world-ending emergency."

"You want me to lie? And risk getting the Police Commissioner mad at me? Sorry, Shan, no can do. Besides, it won't kill you to get all dolled up and have some fun for a change."

"What do you mean 'for a change'? Your mom and I had a blast at Beefcake's on Saturday night. She's hilarious!"

    *pause*

    "Giz...?"

"You must never speak of that to me again."

"You going to call and get me out of this party?"

    "Nope."

"So there was this one dude with huge pecs, and your mom..."

    *Click*

"Dammit. Hmmm... I wonder if I still have Drew's number..."

Just my little way of reminding you all that I have a work dinner to go to tonight and will therefore be AWOL for tonight's Blue Shield get-together.

  22. I will watch it just to see what completely over-the-top action sequence they throw in. You know they are going to want to top the "Jumping off a bridge onto the wing of an F-18 Fighter" or whatever that ridiculousness was in DH4, so I'll be interested to see what they do this time.

Maybe have him lasso a SAM missle in flight, climb up the rope and rip out the guidence system, then drop onto the hood of a Volkswagon and use it to surf down a lava flow.
  23. Main villain - The Waitress (mind/fire dom in a knock-off Hooters uniform)
Actress - That girl in Philly's signature, or possibly Hayden Panetierre

    Actress - Linda Cardellini

    Secondary hero - Shenaniguns (Irish-American DP/Dev blaster/cop)
    Actress - Emma Watson

(I really need more male characters)
