  1. Sorry if this has been addressed, I haven't updated my VV page in forever. I was going to make some changes to it today and when I tried to log in, I couldn't. It gave me an option to make a new account, but said I needed to have cookies enabled to be able to log in.

I'm fairly certain I have cookies enabled on this computer, so I'm not sure what the problem is. If anyone else has had this issue, please let me know how you resolved it. I'm on Windows XP on this computer if that means anything.

    Thanks!
  2. You can purchase them with Alignment merits, but the general consensus seems to be that it's not a very good way to spend A-merits.

You're better off using a couple of A-merits to buy highly sought after IO recipes, crafting and selling them and using that money to buy purples on the market.
  3. I don't think billions of inf is necessary by any means. In fact, I'd enter a cc with a top prize of 10-million if I had time and thought I had a shot.

That said, you probably won't get a HUGE turnout for a cc with a top prize of 10-million, but folks will enter it.

IMO more folks will enter it if it's on one of the lower population servers, and/or it's redside. i think the more unlikely it is for a cc to occur, the higher the turnout will be, even for modest prizes.

Of course if you're planning a cc on redside or a lower population server, and you want a decent turnout, do a little advertising ahead of time. Broadcasting a previously unannounced cc on Guardian in Mercy Island probably won't bring too many folks out.

Sounds like I should have sent Gismo to a shrink instead of a quack.
  7. While visiting New Zealand a few years ago, I learned that they call slices of bacon "rashers."

Also, their bacon was round (at least where I had it), but otherwise it looked like what we think of as bacon, not what we call Canadian bacon.
  8. Hmmm... what if the aliens were really here to help us?

Maybe they were just passing by, and they heard about our problem with global warming and the melting ice caps, and they figured, "Hey, we should drop by there and drain off some of their excess water." Then we start shooting at them and the whole thing gets out of hand.
  9. 'Tea, any chance you could put in a good word with the Art department for a proper clover chest emblem? Four leaf would be great, three leaf would be OK, both would be awesome.
  10. I'd like to know what the Brits say in-game when someone levels. Some variation of grats/gratz/congrats or something else entirely?

  12. NCSoft's donation impresses the hell out of me, and if my company donated a months worth of sales - sales, not profits - I would be shouting it from the mountain tops.
  13. They donated five times as much as Hyundai? Yow.

Kudos, NCSoft. You make me proud to be a customer.

  15. Sheesh, I saw a Starflier quote that said "she," and I assumed it was about GC.

If he's still in that SG, he's probably the leader if everyone else quit. Just use the storage in the existing base or add to it, and change the permission levels so only you can take stuff out of it.

Only thing I can think of is if they looked at all the duplicate names and found that more of the EU players with those names were inactive than NA players. Otherwise exactly the same number of players would be affected.

There's a core group of four or five that stay active regularly, yeah. We haven't really done as much roleplaying as a team of young mutants developing their powers and discovering what it's like to be heroes as I think we intended at the start, but it's still been a lot of fun.

(now this effects both sides, but easy to deal with)

So an EU player creates an account in September of 2007, plays for two months and quits. A NA player creates an account with the same name in October 2007 and stays subscribed for nearly three fours straight. You're saying it's "fair" for the NA 45 month vet to lose his account name to the innactive EU account just because the EU player signed up a month before? Bollocks! (hope I spelled that right)

Age of account - no. Number of veteran badges - I'm OK with. If both players have the exact same number of vet badges, use start date as a tie-breaker.

Oh and I agree wholeheartedly with the suggestion that a block be put in place NOW to prevent NA users from creating an account with a name taken on the EU servers and vice versa.
  21. Heh, it's been a year and I just now noticed that the name of the group is misspelled.

And I didn't know we even HAD our own channel. lol

Prem, glad you weren't hurt, nor anyone else.

As one of the US players who made this arguement, I'll just say that I was speaking from my own experience. I started on Guardian and played there almost exclusively for over a year, but the friends I originally had there left the game.

I made some new friends, and I still have about half my characters on Guardian, but I also decided to give Virtue a try. I found a great RP-friendly community on Virtue (RP being the one thing Guardian is sadly lacking) and I now spend about 75% of my time on Virtue.

My point is, I was happy on Guardian and never planned to leave, until I tried another server and found I really liked it. I can't speak for Union or any of the other EU servers but anecdotal evidence on the forums indicates that they are of lower population than the big two NA servers (Virtue and Freedom), and that many (though certainly not all) EU players would welcome the ability to join servers with higher populations.

I will say that vet status, by which I mean Vet Badges earned, not joined-on date, would be a fair way to decide who gets to keep their name in the case of a conflict, I'm just not sure how easy that would be to implement.

ETA: I'd also love to see another Free Server Transfer Week in conjunction with the server list merge.
  23. Anyone know if Vieux Carre made it? I refuse to use Facebook.
  24. Groundswell, yeah, newcomers are welcome. Most of us are in the mid 40s, but our newst member is only mid 20s, and we typically only run with a team of 5 or 6, so a couple more regular players would not be a problem at all.

We currently play from 7 - 9 PM Eastern Time on Tuesday nights. We've kind of gotten away from the Mandatory RP period at the beginning of each play session, but it usually turns out someone (often me) has to do some selling or crafting before we play, so we RP during that time. We also always play in character, but we don't have any problem with the occasional use of ((parenthetical OOC chat)).

If you do decide to join us, we can each point out some character delevopment posts we've made in this thread to bring you up to speed on our characters.

M_D, it would be great to have you back. As long as you have a good reason for... Emerald Sleuth (?) being gone for so long.

    St. Patricks Day

Thanks, Backfire. I will check those out.

Do you recall off-hand what levels they were?
