The slave trader guy told Daenerys something to the effect of, "The Dothraki won't cross any water their horses can't drink," so I assume that's what's meant by "poison water."
  2. I don't understand how the Zombie-bra girl even qualifies for the contest. The rules state that the submissions cannot have been previously published elsewhere and she states right below her picture that it's the centerfold from some magazine that was presumably published.

Anyway, I threw my daily vote your way, Panda. Continued good luck.

To me the interracial casting seemed more racist than complaining about it. I agree with Coach Hines that Norse gods ought to be Norse.

I had no problem with Michael Clarke Duncan playing the Kingpin in Daredevil, and I would've had no problem with Zoe Saldana or Grace Park playing Jane Foster in Thor, but to make a Norse god African American was just jarring. Hogun was a jarring as well, but after looking at the comics again, I can see interpretting that character as Asian.
  4. Willpower in comics is personified by Green Lantern - without will, the ring doesn't work. But that's not really the kind of willpower being discussed here.

If we expand the discussion beyond comics, then another good candidate for a Willpower tank would be Rocky Balboa. Dude gets the daylights pounded out of him for ten rounds and still wins by sheer willpower alone.

I don't know about the comics version of Kick-***, but the movie version had metal pins and plates inserted throughout his skeleton (he even references his Wolverine-ness) and he suffered nerve damage that dulls his sense of pain. Not exactly superpowers, but two characteristics that would be handy to have if you're going to put yourself in situations where people try to beat you to death.

I'm very pleasantly surprised and always look forward to more scenes with him.
You should rent The Station Agent

Killing of the Khalisi (sorry, can't remember her first name) could prevent the invasion if it were done right. If they were able to slip her some of those Tears of Whatever - the undetecable poison - and make it look like natural causes, it would work, but a less subtle tactic would surely invite the wrath of Khal Drogo and the whole Dothraki army.

I'm curious to see whether Daenerys (had to look it up) will become a moderating influence and call off the whole invasion, content to be the queen of the Dothraki, or if her newfound taste of power will whet her appetite for more.

Also, I think the opening scene in the throne room of the Eyrie is one of the most disturbing things I've seen on TV in a while. How the heck old was the actor playing that kid, and if he's no older than he looks... *shudder*

In CoH a level 3 blaster is akin to Wolverine.

  7. I am generally in favor of this suggestion, but I don't see it happening any time soon, if ever. If this ever gets implemented, Praetoria will become a ghost town. Unless they first add new zones and a level 20-50 storyline to that world.
  8. I don't have any problem with your badge suggestion, but I find it odd that you feel an apology is just empty words unless it is followed by an action.

That is strange, indeed. Makes me wonder what Thor's maternity armor looks like.

    Classic Team Up

I think I'm going to take a step back from the group myself. There's just something about a Praetorian team that's just not clicking with me. Sorry, all.

If we ever get levels 21-50 in Praetoria, I'd consider giving it another go.
  11. Good luck to everyone who was able to get into Pocket D 1!

Overall, the movie is extremely faithful to the comics. Like Iron Man, they changed some minor things and used the best bits from various sources. At the time IM came out, Adi Granov's design of the armor was the coolest out there, so they adapted that version for film, and it works beautifully. However, they managed to have their cake and eat it, too, by having Stark's first cave-made armor resemble the original Iron Man suit. Jarvis became an AI rather than a person, but that makes more sense in the 20th century for a tech wizard like Tony Stark.

Similarly, Straczynski's reboot of Thor has beats that they used for the film (hammer falling in the American Southwest, Thor ending up in a small town -- although in Oklahoma rather New Mexico), but like IM, they used Olivier Copiel's redesign of Thor's outfit and extrapolated everyone else's from it. A very good idea, in my opinion, because Thor has never looked cooler. Asgard and all the characters there were true to the comic book versions, although obviously less time could be spent on some than others. The reason Thor was exiled is the same as in the comic. The only major change was that "Donald Blake" was just a temporary alias of Thor's rather than Thor's actual secret identity. Like Jarvis, though, I think that was a better choice.
Another point should be made that about 10-12 years ago Marvel created an alternate universe of comics called the Ultimate line. A fair amount of what we've seen in the Marvel produced movies - IM, IM2 the Hulk reboot, and Thor has been taken from the Ultimate universe. Most notable is Nick Fury being Samuel L Jackson as he is in the Ultimate universe rather than a white WW2 veteran like he is in the original Marvel Universe.

Other things they adapted from the Ultimate U - Bruce Banner becoming the Hulk as a result of trying to develop a Super Soldier serum, Hawkeye being a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent... and I'm sure there are many others, but I'm drawing a blank right now, and besides I'm not super familiar with the Ultimate U.

  14. ((Apologies if anyone was looking/waiting for me last night. I didn't get out of work until 7:20, and it was after 8 'til I got home. Didn't even get the grass cut.))
  15. This is what I was waiting for. Needed this one for account #2. Thanks!

I've been trying to remember to do so, but not always successful. However, I realized last night that I can vote for you once from work and once from home each day, so I'll try to make up for the days I missed.

Are you planning to wear this to SDCC this year?

Yeah, but the badge is only to be given out if 2500 accounts log on simultaneously. If 1000 accounts log on at 7 PM and the server crashes, those 1000 people might get the badge a couple of days later, but all the people who weren't home from work yet would be out of luck and would probably have to wait months to get the badge.

    In-N-Out Burger

Living in PA, I don't know what I'm missing with In-N-Out, but there are two Five Guys within a mile of my house, so I'm content. Kinda wish they'd open a Red Robin around here though.

ETA: I never got the appeal of Krispy Kreme donuts either. Give me a nice, fresh Maple Donuts donut any day.

This doesn't bode well for the grand finale on Freedom on the 27th.

Virtue and Freedom are consistantly the most populated, and Virtue is the "unofficial RP server."

I will let others speak for the "unofficial" titles of any of the other N/A servers.

  22. I hopped onto Union last night and rolled up several new characters, snagging names I've been unable to get on Virtue, including:

    Atom Master
    Ben Franklinstein
    Minitaur
    Starry Knight

Looking forward to playing with some of our former benevolent overlords.
  23. I will definitely be contacting you about this!

    When Playing CoH

None. I'm one of those weird people who can't do things like read or play video games with music on in the background. I usually have the TV on, but it's always muted.

If I'm at a Cape event, I'll tune into the Cape, but if I'm running missions, I prefer silence.
