I just found an Amazon gift card I got at Christmas and since forgotten about. I'm planning to use it to buy their box set of the first 4 (5?) books this weekend.

Magic armor. Supes is vulnerable to magic, so I'm assuming something could be enchanted to resist his power as well.

It might just be my monitor, but I don't think we can duplicate the exact color of Sister Psyche's costume.

Plenty of room for more boys (and gals) in blue, Chief Smith. We typically run from 7 PM to 9 PM ET on Tuesday nights. We currently have four regulars, plus one MIA K9 officer.

Since the rapture was apparently circling the globe at the rate of one time zone per hour, I turned on the news when I woke up. When I didn't see reports of planes falling out of the skies over New Zealand, I decided to go to a beer festival Saturday afternoon.

If there had been reports of widespread rapturing, I probably would've gone to the beer festival anyway, but I would've made sure I was home by 5:50 for a quickie last-minute repentance of my sins.


ETA: October 21st, huh? Well if there's no NFL football by then, I say bring on the rapture.

A few of my early misconceptions:

- If you got hit by a car or truck you'd take damage. I also thought you had to avoid water until your character could pick up a "swimming" power.

- Before I ever tried the game I thought you HAD to team to play. I would probably be at least a six year vet by now if I'd realized that you could play and enjoy the game solo. I'm normally pretty introverted, so I didn't want to join a game I knew nothing about and be forced to play with strangers would would probably be way better than me.

- Once I joined the game, I thought you had to know what you were doing before you should join a team. I declined all team invites for weeks reasoning that if I joined a team not knowing what I was doing, everyone would die.

- You couldn't slot more than one enhancement of any type in a power. I wasted a lot of inf buying eight or ten level 5 Accuracy or Damage TOs and stacking them in a power to get all my enhancements to turn green again.

- I thought the base teleporters were some kind of energy fountains and they would kill you if you touched them.

And two specific instances:

On my first CoV character, I got the "Take Out the Traitor" mission Kalinda gives all of her new players. I ran to the tug boat, clicked on the door, and ended up back on the deck of the tug boat. So I clicked the door again, and... I was back on the deck of the tug boat. I did this three or four times before I ran back to Kalinda and asked another player to help me. When we got into the mission I noticed that he was having the same problem... until he ran up the pier and started fighting the Longbow. D'oh!


About 2 weeks into the game, I got a random SG invite while on a character in Mercy Island. I figured "what the heck," and joined the VG. The next time I died, I got the pop-up to "Go to Hospital" or "Go to Base" and I clicked on "Base." I wound up in the VG base and I had no idea how to get out - there were no doors! I was too embarrased to ask so I just kept running around looking for doors and clicking on things. I finally found a the teleporters, and picked one, which dumped me, a level 3 character IIRC, in... Sharkhead. I learned a lot about aggro radius that day as I tried to sneak to the ferry. I finally got there only to find out that it wouldn't take me back to Mercy Island. I was so frustrated at that point that I just deleted the character and made a new one.


ETA: When I finally started teaming, I kept seeing people type "gratz." I figured that it was some kind of MMO shorthand for "thanks," like from the Italian word "gratzie." I didn't chat much during missions, but one time I died and a teammate came back and rezzed me to which I typed "Gratz!" They replied, "For what?" I said, "For resurrecting me." To which they replied, "It wasn't that hard. lol"

I honestly thought Tyrion was going to name the kid (Robin?) as his champion. I imagine there are rules against that (seems it has to be voluntary) but that would've been an interesting twist.

That final scene with the gold crown was brutal. And I think I'm developing a crush on the actress who plays Daenyres (sp?), even though I usually go for brunettes.

I'm tempted to watch the next episode ahead of time, but the thought of ging two weeks without a new episode is stopping me.

My "must see" network shows are at an alltime low and consist primarily of The Big Bang Theory, Fringe and The Amazing Race.

If I get a chance I'll watch The Office, 30 Rock, and Modern Family, but if I miss them, it's no big deal.

Networks have even less of an attention span than viewers these days. Coincidentally, I was listening to NPR on my drive home last night and they were talking about the networks presenting their "Upfronts" to advertisers this week. According to the woman they were interviewing, of the five new shows CBS was pushing at this time last year, three of them are still on the air. She went on to say that ABC, NBC, and FOX were pushing a combined 15 shows last year, of which ONE is still on the air.

To me it's not just the uneveness of shows, or the tailing off of the quality, it's all the dang breaks in the schedule. It seems like when I was a kid, a TV show would debut its season in September, run for 13 straight weeks, take a break and show some reruns for a month, come back in January, run 13 more weeks straight, and then go into reruns for the summer. Now a lot of shows don't even do close to 26 episodes and they have month long breaks every few episodes. If you're going to take all these breaks, you have to expect to lose viewers because people are going to get fed up and/or find something else to watch.

I was kind of looking forward to buying another booster pack for my second account this week. Oh well.

((Not looking good for me tonight, gang. I have a 4 hour conference call this afternoon and as a result probably won't get out of work until close to 7. Sorry.))

As I said, I'm letting this issue go so as not to steer the thread closer towards the evil realm of Lock-enheim. I just want to say that my silence in regard to posts subsequent to mine do not indicate my agreement with them.
