Wow, that was...
I ran the Rogue version of the arc. It starts out fun learning the lore of the Frostscales in the first two mission, and the fights are typical fare with the exception of the one big fight, which I found somewhat challenging (though I don't understand the opponent's appearance).
The third mission isn't bad as a change of pace, but it's kind of annoying in that there is no risk, but also no reward.
The fourth mission is just the opposite in that it is ridiculously difficult. I mean seriously, spawns and random patrols that consist of a PAIR of elite bosses? Minons with Unstoppable? Sappers that can also confuse you and then self resurrect?
And the final mission is just plain annoying and anticlimactic as you run around the base for five minutes, then finish the mission in five seconds for a whopping six tickets.
The last mission might have been OK if I wasn't so drained from the fourth mission and all the reading in the earlier missions. There were probably some interesting comments from all the NPCs in the mission, but by then I just wanted it over with so I bypassed all of them and ignored their comments.
In conclusion, the arc has potential, but it's not really something I would recommend to anyone in it's current form. To me, it's too uneven in its pacing, and the fourth mission is just NOT built with casual players in mind. I gave you three stars. I considered rating it lower, but I figured that it might just not fit my playstyle, or the AT I was using might just have been at a disadvantage, and the arc might be perfectly OK for someone else. I do think it needs work though. -
Um... "No..." what?
No you can't get six Villain Merits, or no your Free Choices are not all gone (i.e. you can get six Villain Merits)? -
Quote:LOL. If you really wanted to build up good karma, you would've started this thread when casual gamers could still buy cheap purples. I.E., before you bought hundreds of them at 1-million each.As to my urgency, I'm just looking to let everyone know about this strategy. I've got just under 2000 purples in bases now, so I certainly don't need any more. By posting it here I'm hoping more people will understand Enhancement Converters and be ready to take advantage of them when they hit live. I'm building up good karma. In a month people will be posting in this thread saying, "Thanks TopDoc, I'm a casual player but I managed to purple my Warshade by buying cheap purples when you suggested it."

But you're not willing to buy any of his names? C'mon, put your inf where your keyboard is!

Quote:So it's basically no different than just waiting a week to run the arc again if you want that same reward, right? Or am I still confused? It means if you were to, say, do the arc, pick a hero merit, do it again and see the hero merit locked out, you could just leave the reward table open for the rest of the week. Once the lockout has expired (again, in a week) the hero merit option will become available again. Of course, once you pick it, if you run the arc again in under a week, and the table comes up at the end, hero merit will again be locked out (since you just picked it).
Also, are the Hero and Villain Arcs treated as separate things with regard to the Free Choice? For example, if you get your six Hero Merits per Aggelakis' example, cash them in, and then go through the switch to Villain alignment, can you get six Villain Merits or are your Free Choices all gone on that character? -
Thank you for the more detailed explanation of what the wiki says, Aggelakis. Having never run any of the SSAs, I was a bit confused by the Free Reward Choice concept.
I'm still confused by this part, however:
Quote:Can anyone elaborate on what this means? It kind of sounds like an exploit that would allow you to continue choosing your favorite reward even after the timer should have locked it.NOTE: There is no location or status window that keeps track of the reward timer; if a character runs a Signature Story Arc within the reward timer, they cannot choose any reward that has been obtained in the last seven days. However, leaving the reward choice window open without making a decision until the reward timer expires allows a character to choose their preferred reward again. -
I haven't seen it yet, but is it even worse than the witch boots?

Quote:Man, how cool it would be if we had NPCs to fight that looked like actual velociraptors?Rogues can fight for money and power alongside the Frostscale Dreadtalons, cold manipulating dinosaur warriors who are fanatically devoted to the will of the primal goddess Seriss.
I'll definitely check this out with my Rogue tonight. Although, her mutant powers are fire-based. Hope the dinos don't mind. -
Yeah, I guess it could be any of those things. I just thought maybe it was some sort of Incarnate buff causing the problem, because I was pretty sure I heard somebody mention that on a recent TF I was on.

Quote:Sure it is. Absolutely absurd.
But... no matter how sexualized or ludicrous Namor's costumes are we DO all know all men would jump at the chance to be built like him.
I guarantee that if you polled a group of 1000 men from ages 14 to 30 with the question 'If someone could give you a six pack of abs with the snap of their fingers, would you take it?' - you'd get a thousand 'yes' answers. (I'm sure I'd get a few 'no' answers from here, but 1) I'd be skeptical and 2) I would love to hear 'why not')
Wouldn't the same largely be true of women though too? I'm not talking Power Girl protortions, but if you polled 1000 women with the question, would you like to be built like... Supergirl, I would think you'd also get close to 100% affirmative responses. Wouldn't you? -
Well, the Skrulls first appeared in the FF as well, but I don't think the film companies have the rights nailed down to any secondary characters they haven't already put on screen.

Quote:My response reads a lot snarkier than it was intended. I just meant to me, those weren't names to make me salivate.Your compassion is humbling. But really... thanks for the bump!
And I don't mind bumping the thread, because I don't think anyone in this forum will take you up on your offer anyway. -
It's got to be something besides that, because it's happened to me when I've been alone after running back from Nerva to talk to the contact in Sharkhead, who then, of course, sends me right back to the northernmost reaches of Nerva.
-
I just really hope the bad guys aren't "dark elves" or some other Asgardian enemies. Marvel lore is so vast that it would be a crime for them to make such an epic movie and not include an epic enemy like the Skrulls, or even the Kree.
-
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I've never understood the appeal of simple adjectives as names.
Hot?
Citizen 1: "Look, up in the sky, it's a bird! It's a coyote! It's... Hot!"
Citizen 2 (looking up from his paper to squint at the sun): "Yeah, but at least the humidity isn't too bad today. And I heard the weathergirl said there's a cold front moving in from Canada..."
I honestly wouldn't take any of those names if they were offered to me for free. In fact, I just snagged what I consider a much better name on Exalted for free - in anticipation of Beast Mastery, I took "Leader of the Pack." (though I do keep making "brum! brum!" motorcycle sounds in my head everytime I say it.) -
On the last couple of S/TFs I've run, my Mission Teleporter keeps fizzling out. Someone else mentioned theirs was still working but that they are "easily interruptable.
Is there possibly some buff someone is casting on me that is causing this? Maybe an Incarnate buff of some sort, because this didn't seem to happen on lower level S/TFs? -
More likely the Church of Stolichnaya.
Seriously though, hope they're OK.
As for this part...
"Temps are dropping below [minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit] and they have only a week or so left before they have to winterize the station," he told Fox. "I can only imagine what things must be like at Vostok Station this week."
I guess whoever reported this didn't realize that minus 40° is minus 40°. It doesn't matter if you're talking Celcius or Fahrenheit, minus 40° is where the two scales cross. -

Um... where does the CC take place?
-
Any further info on the costume contest theme?
-
Quote:This is my feeling too. Now that there is the option to buy select costume pieces individually, why not just make most/all of them, and let people pick/choose what they want, or bundle them ALL together for 1600 or 2000 PP?Honestly, I would pay upwards of $50 for all of the pieces shown. Most of the ones I like the best have less votes.
I'd pay the extra points to get everything they've shown plus the female pieces they haven't revealed. -
