  1. Might be just a few minutes late tonight. Stopped to get takeout to save time making dinner, and it's taking for.... wait for it... ever.

Can't remember all the legends about the Star Wars films but wasn't it planned at first that Han would be frozen forever or killed by Jabba or something? I suspect the paycheck is what kept Ford involved and Han alive.
What I've always heard is that Ford lobbied Lucas to have Han killed in Return of the Jedi and Lucas refused. Not sure if that's true, or if it is why Lucas refused, other than the fact that he thought it would tarnish the "happily ever after" ending.

  5. It only took six of my 24 packs to get the full costume set on my one account. On my other account it took 14 of 24 packs to get all the pieces.
  6. I assume there is a mechanism in place that prevents you from getting the same costume piece more than once?

This is a typo, right? There's no Paragon Points bundle that gets you 9,600 BONUS points is there???
  8. I'm guessing the people who don't like these things also don't like, or never collected trading cards, because that's the closest, most obvious analog I can think of to these superpacks.

As someone who spent too much of his allowance as a kid on Wacky Packages, and Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back trading cards, and too much of his income as an adult on Buffy, and Star Wars Galaxy trading cards, I think these are a fun idea. I'll probably buy a 24 pack on each of my accounts and be done with it.

Does anyone know what the actual odds of any given item are? In the first pack I opened, I got 1 common, 3 uncommon and 1 very rare item.

If that's the case, I feel really, REALLY bad for Hershel since he would be taking the place of Michonne in the first encounter with the Governor.

I am not certain that the sick girl at the farm is turning, but if she is, I hope they reveal that it happened without her being bitten as that would add a nice element of mystery to how the virus works. Is it mutating? Is a scratch all it takes? Is everyone infected already?

I could also see a really tragic turn of events where Hershel kills her to end her misery only to find that she doesn't turn afterwards because she merely had the flu or something and wasn't actually infected.

The comment referenced above had to be a joke when it was originally made, right? Whips are too hard to do because there's nowhere to hang them on the body? What?

I have characters who run around with swords, sledgehammers, axes, and assault rifles all apparently strapped to their backs in some sort of invisible sheaths, but we can't have whips because there is nowhere to hang them on the body?

    Again I say... what???
  11. The commercial for next week indicates that Lori is alive for at least part of the episode, but she does appear to be in a rather nasty predicament.

I didn't know who the actor was, but even his five minutes on screen impressed me more than 90% of the other actors on this show have in the last season and a half. I expected to get at least a few episodes of tension out of those two.

    Comic Book Men

I just checked eBay and there are currently seven pieces of Bob Kane Batman related original art listed for sale. The most expensive is an actual published daily comic strip with a buy it now price of $17,500. Even that seems high to me, but I do know that published work goes for significantly more than sketches, so I'm not too surprised.

As for the other six items, none of them, including two watercolor paintings, have a buy it now price of more then $4500. There are two beautiful sketches of the Joker and the Penguin that are much cleaner than the sketch on the show last night, and they are listed for $2,000 each.

So yes, while it is true that value is in the eye of the beholder, or the wallet of the buyer as it were, throwing out exaggerated prices for stuff on a show like this gives people false hope and angers or disappoints them when they take their things to an actual comic book store and they are offered 10% or 20% of "book value" by the owner.

The most realistic part of the show to me was when they called in the expert and he shot down the guy with the Dawn of the Dead items. That's the way it goes in 9.8 out of 10 cases in my experience.

I don't know, maybe it's because I do know how actual comic book stores and such work that I don't find the show all that compelling.
  13. Or vigilante, or rogue, yes. Heroes can't run missions in the Rogue Isles.

The same generation that gave us Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and Roger Daltry also gave us Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. So the live fast, die young phenomenon is nothing new, it's just that some people survive it, and some don't.

    Comic Book Men

So, did anyone else watch this? What did you think?

In my opinion it was only "OK." It was humorous at times, but for the most part it seemed like Pawn Stars New Jersey: Comic Book Division. I'll give the next episode or two a chance, but I don't see it lasting.

The one big problem I had with it was the values they were putting on things - $10,000 for a Bob Kane sketch of Batman and Robin? Seriously, ten grand? I could see a thousand, maybe fifteen hundred, but $10-thousand for a pair of head sketches? No way.
  16. The guys in the bar struck me as more desperate than evil, but it looks like we might find out more about their motivations next week. I was a little concerned that the discussion about Fort Benning and DC, etc. was going to be an excuse to have the group stay put at the farm for the rest of this season, which I'm sure would be good for the budget, but I'm not so sure about the viewers.

I don't know what Lori was thinking she'd accomplish that Rick and Glenn couldn't, particularly when she apparently didn't even know where the town was.

On Talking Dead they had a viewer poll regarding which character you'd want leading your group - Rick, Shane, Daryl or Hershel. I was expecting Daryl to win and was shocked when Rick got like 54% of the votes to Daryl's 34%, Shane's 11% and Hershel's (lol) 1%. I wonder if Rick's badassery at the end of this episode didn't elevate him in a lot of viewers eyes.

There's already an alignment check on characters enerting PVP zones. My rogue wasn't able to enter Warburg from blueside.
  18. Then roll up a mutant villian, vigilante or rogue and join us. I think we're gonna try to do the Mortimer Kal SF this week.
  19. I did receive your ingame e-mail and thank you. I wrote the following response, but it was too long to send, so I'm posting it here instead. Hope you don't mind...

POTENTIAL SPOILERS FROM HERE UNTIL THE END OF THIS POST

You said it started off fun, but could you elaborate on that? What was so fun about the beginning?

It was fun/interesting to learn the story of the Frostscales and their enemies through the clues, but I thought that those clues were somehow going to be used in future missions. Since they weren't, it seemed kind of like a waste of time trying to find them all. If there was a way you could figure out how to give hints in them to combat the enemies in the later missions, it would really be cool.

You said the third and final missions were annoying. Was it hard finding the objectives or are non-combat missions just not interesting?

It wasn't hard finding the objectives, just time consuming, and when there was no combat, there was no pay-off. It wouldn't have been as bad if there weren't so many clues in the first two missions, and if there were not so many glowies in the third mission. It just started to seem pointless.

As for the final mission, it's like there was no payoff at all. After all the clues about the Frostscales eating their prisoners, and all the difficult combat in the fourth mission, I expected some epic battle against the Frostscale leader who was going to try to kill and eat me or fighting the wolfpack leader to rescue the Frostcale leader, or... something.

Instead after running all through the base looking for the big leadre, I one-shot a couple of Frostlings and the arc is over? Very anticlimactic, and literally unrewarding. Remember, a lot of people play these for tickets and getting like six on the final mission of a five-part arc is kind of a slap in the face.

    Did you like the story?

I enjoyed the stroy well enough I suppose. I can't think of anything I really disliked about the story, other than maybe not making it matter in the missions more. It was more the uneven playstyle I objected to.

Did you like the two factions? Which one was your favorite?

The two factions were fine. I can't say I liked one more than the other, but the Fristscale's story seemed more cohesive. Then again, I didn't really learn as much about the wolf creatures.

Did you have a favorite/least favorite custom enemy?

The tactic of having a double of the player's character was interesting, though it was never explained as far as I recall, so while it might have been my favorite if it had been explained, it just sort of came off as a "look what I can do" feature and ended up being my least favorite. If there was a clue as to why I was fighting my doppleganger and I missed it I apologize. If there wasn't, I think you should add one.

What kinds of tactics did you use on the fourth mission?

After about my fifth defeat, I just started buying all defense and breakfree inspirations at the vendor inside the AE building and continued to slog through. As much as possible I avoided enemies that were unnecessary to achieving my objective even though that meant passing up rewards. Since the enemies had such high defense and mez resistance, my normal tactic of holding or putting one to sleep while fighting the other didn't work. Even when domination was up, I wasn't able to hold one and fight the other. Maybe another AT would have more success.

You say above that the minions didn't have Unstoppable, but I could swear they did. If they didn't, then the Lieutenants definitely did. Either way, I was playing at +0 x1, and they were the most difficult minions and lieutenants I can ever recall facing. Even the Malta's Sappers don't resurrect themselves while you're trying to finish off the rest of the spawn!

Anyway, I hope this feedback helps.

Think about it this way, two guys named, uh... Aaron and Alex are having a duel. They step off their twenty paces, turn, and Aaron fires before Alex, killing Alex before he can shoot his gun. Since Alex, unless he was suicidal or insane, intended to shoot Aaron, it is still correct to say Aaron shot first.

To say that Han shot, period, does make him sound more like a cold-blooded killer rather than a man who was defending his life by shooting his would-be killer before said killer could get off a killing shot.

All of this used to bother me, but like I said in another thread on the subject, since I now have an official version of the original theatrical releases on dvd, I don't care what Uncle George changes from now on. It is kind of a shame though that kids who see Episode IV: A New Hope for the first time these days won't get the same impression of Han - as a badass, but not a cold-blooded killer - that kids like me and jwbullfrog got way back in 1977 when we first saw a movie that was then simply called Star Wars.

ETA: Lulipop, I am pretty sure that Wuher didn't even have a blaster, or he would've pulled it out when Dr. Evizan and Ponda Baba were hassling Luke and Ben.
  22. My favorites are the original Star Wars trilogy, followed by Raiders of the Lost Ark, followed by Jurassic Park (love the end theme of that movie).
  23. My understanding of this (an I may be mistaken) is that if you land at the same or a higher elevation than you launched from, you won't take any damage regardless of how high you jump, but if you land at a lower elevation that you launched from you will take damage based on that differential, but again it won't matter how high you jumped.

Otherwise no one would ever take super leap.
