I don't support scamming in any way, shape, or form, but I think it's unfair to lay this on the Devs. They have been proactive in helping the players not be victims in these types of situations - they have given us the market and they have given us a completely safe means of making trades.

Just because some players choose not to use those methods because they want to avoid fees, or sell/trade things for more Inf than the safe means allow is not the Devs fault.

In real life there are perfectly safe places to keep your money and earn a small return on your savings - they are called banks, and they are backed by the US Government. If you choose not to use a bank and instead you invest your money with some guy who says he's got the greatest, sure fire investment in the history of the universe, you're taking a risk that the guy might be a crook. If he turns out to be a crook and steals all your money, the guy should be punished and the money returned to you if possible, but that doesn't mean the government should pass a law that the banks have to pay a higher interest rate so that you aren't tempted to give your money to some guy who could very well be a crook.

    That reference is so 2009.

I think it's because he's still getting over being drowned in an apple-bobbing tub by a psycho kid who was masquerading as his boyfriend.

I'll bet I know who it was - the actor who plays Hershel's 97 year old mom. He said on Talking Dead last night that he let her read his scripts. She's probably blabbing all over the fan sites.

J/k obviously, but I do think it's pretty awesome that his mom was a fan of the show and pushed him to be on it when he was up for the roll. Sorry I can't recall his real name.
  4. Went on my first MS raid in quite a while Saturday night, and I was curious about something. In the past, you got Vandguard Merit credit for any Rikti any member of your team did damage to. Has that changed to every member of the league gets credit for every Ritki defeated?

The reason I ask is two-fold. 1) I got a LOT more V-Merits than I ever remember getting on a single MS Raid, and 2) shortly after we hit the bowl, someting happened and I went from being on a 7-8 person team, to being the leader of a 2-person team (still in the league), which I then had to slowly rebuild with latecomers until we were back up to around 6, yet I still got a LOT more V-Merits than I ever remember getting on a single MS Raid.

My other question is, what happened to cause me to switch teams? Was that a quirk, or did someone in the league have to consciously switch me to a new team? I'm a veteran player and I've lead MS Raid teams in the past, so I don't mind it, I'd just kind of like to know why it happened.
  5. If I'm pushing you, it's only because I want you to be a better hero.

I've found I've had to suspend my disbelief about this for a while now. Not that I know how easy it is to get though the human skull, but if some of the stuff we see on Walking Dead were real, James Harrison would be in jail as a serial killer.

It's imperfect as things are, but I suspect better than it might be if we were allowed to call names out in public forums for in-game fraud and deception.
Is there a rule against posting the names of people with whom you have made successful, satisfactory trades? Maybe approach it from that perspective instead so that there's a growing, easy to access list of trustworthy players?

I don't do a lot of high Inf trades, though I have done a few, and I'd certainly be willing to broker such a trade, free of charge, between any two players if they so desired (primarily on Virtue though, since that's mostly where I play these days).
  8. So the two cops turned without being bitten, huh? Curiouser and curiouser.

I'd love to, I really would, but it's a matter of getting time off from work too, and I don't want to push it. If the fall summit happens and doesn't conflict with that one weekend I have plans, I'll definitely come out early and stay late.
  12. For the record, I am not asking anyone for one of these. lol

I probably wouldn't even use it, unless it's the type of mouspad with a wrist rest. In all likelihood if I had received one, it would just be gathering dust in some forgotten corner of my house.

Hmmm, maybe I should check the forgotten corners of my house tonight to make sure I didn't get one of these and forget about it.

  16. Bah, couldn't get into the game. Hopefully I'll have better luck tonight.
  17. I always wondered about the TF settings you can pick, were they ever good for anything besides bragging rights (or in the obvious cases "Master Of" badges)? For example, if you completed a Synapse with 0 deaths in less than an hour did you get extra shiny rewards?

You didn't let me down, Gamestop did. But I don't remember these even being annouced as part of the preorder deal. I thought it was just the codes, so I never even would have asked them for it. Not that the employee at my local Gamestop even knew what City of Heroes was when I asked to preorder it.
  19. I don't know how feasible it would be for trades like this, but what if things were arranged as follows:

Player A wants to buy a PvPIO from Player B for 2-billion Inf.

Step 1: Player A trades Player B 999,999,999 for a different IO worth approximately 1 billion.

Step 2: Player A trades Player B 999,999,999 and the IO s/he just got for the PvPIO s/he wants.

That way if Player B bolts after the intial trade, at least Player A isn't left completely holding the bag.

To get a flight from Texas I'd be lucky to get a flight that arrived before the Pummit starts. Since Registration opens at 8:30 (I think that is what I read on the BPT site after booking) I prefer not being rushed.

Of course, not everyone has the ability to take off for Friday or rent a hotel room for multiple nights. Since this is my only vacation each year, I splurge a bit. I'm just wondering what I'll do for a vacation if this ends up being my last trip to a CoH event.
Well, I normally would've flown out Friday and home Sunday, because I hate being rushed too, but the week before this I'll be travelling to Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgh Comicon, and the week after this I'll be flying to Dallas for Frightmare Weekend, so I'm trying to A) minimize my time away from home and B) minimize my expenses.

Until this morning I had no intentions of even attending the Pummit because of the bookend trips mentioned above, but when I realized I could do it in such a short span of time and for relatively little money, I figured what the heck. Also because I'm convinced that the one weekend this fall that I've already made plans for is whe the fall Pummit will take place; if they even have one.
  21. Thanks for the tip, I will definitely check Hotwire.

I knew I'd be cutting it close in the morning, but I am not too worried if I miss part of the Welcome or Keynote address. Besides, that was the earliest direct flight I could find from the east coast.

ETA: Booked the car at the $7.95 rate, which saved me like $30 vs. what booking through Yahoo would've cost. I also checked my flights and I could've gotten them for $7 cheaper through Hotwire and would've saved another $3 by bundling the flight and car through Hotwaire, but cest la vi, I can live with the extra $10.

Oh and no, I won't be checking any bags since I'll only be in CA for about 15 hours.

Travel times will probably depend on time of day and traffic conditions.

As to cost. Well, if you have to get a cab or something, dunno. Honestly. It's my first trip to Cali in roughly 20 years (ohgod, did I just say that aloud? GET OFF MY LAWN!)

If you're getting in around a certain time, one of the people actually getting a car and driving might be willing to give you a lift for a couple bucks in gas money.

Meant SFO as it had better flight options, which is a shame since San Jose is so much closer. Anyway, event ticket and flight are booked.

I would be surprised if I can catch a ride with anyone else as I am scheduled to arrive at SFO at 9:04 AM on Saturday morning and my flight home is at 12:25 AM on Sunday morning. Might look into a rental car.
  23. Anyone know the distance, travel time, and cost to and from the San Francisco airport to the hotel?

Add another vote for this. I don't have any problem with you selling Alignment Change Tokens, I even bought one, but if there's a chance we could get the Server Transfer Tokens changed to a more generic Account Services Token, I'd be in favor of that.

Also, could we get the badge for using the Black Market changed to "Morally Bankrupt?"
  25. What the... I didn't get one of those when I preordred at Gamestop!
