Anyone willing to explain a couple of things to someone not in the loop?
Do I have to be in a big SG to participate? I have a 'personal' SG, just for the characters of me and my partner, so, 2 players. I assumed this meant I would never be able to do the trial. Is there any option I wasn't aware of?
thanks for whatever info -
Quote:Oh man, my bad! It *is* on the closed beta for I19 board. I am sorry, I didn't pay attention when I linked.Any chance the link to that guide is on the Closed Beta forums or something? When I try to go to it, I get refused access due to insufficient permissions.
I've sent ZM a private message asking if he plans to put it in a more public place soon.
Sorry for the misdirect!

EDIT: Via Snow _Globe, here's a more public version of ZM's guide:

And to expand a little more... ;D
I'm a good test case for going from full stop ignorance about the Incarnate System to having my Alpha Slot slotted with my first Uncommon boost, so my experience might be useful.
First, do what they (previous posters) said.
1. Go to Oroboros and run Mender Ramiel's arc. Check out the boards for clues about completing the missions, a couple of them are a bizatch if you try to solo it. I managed with 1 person's help for Trapdoor and actually solo'd Capt Holtz and Honoree with pets but it was pretty brutal. I helped someone else with that one and with just me and one other (third) team mate it wasn't that big a deal.
2. Now you have an Alpha Slot! Where the heck is it and what do you do with it??? Also hopefully you got some Shard drops in the arc missions to let you know what the goodies are that you will be seeking.
The Incarnate drops have their own tab under Salvage, and the Alpha Slot itself can be accessed by opening your Powers screen from your tray. There's new little bit of text at the top edge of the Powers screen which, if clicked on, will bring up the Incarnate window where you both craft and slot the boosts. This was the single most elusive piece of info for me. I have no problem with accepting that it might be because I'm one taco short of a combo plate but seriously, the Paragon Wiki article doesn't explain this, the official CoH articles don't explain this. I found this part out from Zombie Man's wonderful Guide.
The Guide really helps a LOT to fill in any gaps in the other sources. Yay, Zombie Man! The reason I am now godlike on my one 50!
3. As far as what you will need to do to get the Shards and Components you need for your boosts, here was my yesterday: I started with just the Shards you get from Mender Ramiel's arc. I asked around on broadcast and the server channel (Liberty) if anyone was doing ITFs and got on one. What the leader described as a normal run gave me several Shards and the Component you get from that TF. You can't get that component from that TF again for another 18 hours. (I hadn't paid attention to that part, it's in the articles, so I ran another ITF during the course of the day, but it was fine, I got shards from the second run, just not the component.)
After that I ended up on a team that did the Winter Lord event mission, (which was actually easier than I remembered from last year for some reason) and got shards there. Then I decided to hang out in the Rikti War Zone for a while and got on a Lady Grey Task Force, same thing, "normal" run, more shards and a component from that one. I had heard there was a regular Mothership Raid on Sunday night on Liberty so I hung around for that (after doing the second ITF). The zone was so full that when I left a mission I ended up in RWZ2 and couldn't get into the first instance, it was locked out. After hanging out in the Vanguard hq in Atlas a while I finally got into the first RWZ, where the raid was already underway. Nice folks answered my call for a team and TP'd me to the ship (where I promptly DC'd - doh!). After the fastest re-log in history, I ended up rezzing on the ship! I got teamed up again and participated in the remainder of the raid, getting some more shards and some Vanguard merits.
After that I spent some time trying to figure out what kind of boosts I could make, and what I wanted. I made the Common Spiritual and slotted it (again yay Zombie Man's Guide for even finding the crafting and slotting screen).
Then someone was talking on chat about doing Tin Mage TF. I knew from reading the I19 notes that like Apex, you couldn't even really do that TF without having an Alpha Slot, slotted, but I now had that so I joined up.
More shards. After that, with the shards from that run plus the Gr'ai Matter component I purchased using the Vanguard merits (some from the raid, some I already had), I was able to upgrade my common boost to the uncommon Spiritual Radial one.
So in one Sunday, I basically got all the materials needed to slot up to my first uncommon boost. The only thing I had starting out the day was that I'd done Mender Ramiel's arc previously.
TLDR; perhaps, but sometimes it helps me if I have a real world anecdotal. Mine's a good case because I'm about as average joe player as there is.
Hope it helps!

Quote:Okay, good to know.I believe the use of the singular was on purpose. There is only one Halloween Tip Mission. When the reward menu is working correctly, you'll have to do the same mission four times to earn all the rewards.
Interesting, also. The text and tone of the mission complete kind of feels like it's hanging, waiting for a next chapter. -
I would like to hear from anyone who had done the halloween tip mission, finished, trick or treated some more. and gotten a second halloween tip mission - the next one, not the same one.
Has anyone gotten any halloween tip mission other than the first one? -
Hmm okay.
I ran the halloween tip mission (Recover the Malleus Mundi), then ran it a second time. It's no longer in my tips panel, but it's still in my mission tab. It says "return to contact" but there is no way to do this...
Perhaps this is why I'm not getting another halloween tip to drop? -
I got the halloween tip as drop within 10 minutes to trick or treating in costume. Got the same results as everyone else, no reward dialog at the end etc. Nothing new to add.
Do have a question though - is there a second halloween tip mission? Should I be getting another halloween tip drop at some point or is it once only? (sans the repeat bug)
thanks -

Thanks, Liberty, you made my Saturday night amibitions a reality. ;D

Heyla - I'm on Liberty tonight, anybody interested in doing a katie hannon? I've never done it on my 50 scrapper, somehow it just got overlooked.
@MomentaryGrace, toon is Trixibelle
enjoy your evening! -
Quote:There's a glowie, kind of inside the rig near the top. Not in a door but in an enlosed part of it. A desk i think. Watch out for the big spawn of combatants when you get it. You'll then get a few more objectives that take you in and out of the ship again.
Thank you!
With your help I found the desk, and eventually the safe and other objectives.
My character is now a Rogue! -
Quote:Inside the mission. It's what you get once you enter the mission door, which puts you at the backside of the cargo ship map. If you go the length of the map you get to the door that normally corresponds to an entrance, and you can go out, finding yourself on the ship at sea. It's near a large structure that looks like an oil rig. There's also a partially burning, sinking ship nearby.Haven't run that one yet. Is this the nav info to get TO the mission, or a nav point inside the mission?
Council & Sky Raiders are fighting all over both the inside the ship map and the outside map.
The oil rig structure seems to be the base and there are numerous doors but none of them will let me enter (so I can find the key to the safe, presumably).
I've killed everything on the map. I'm stumped. -
I'm doing "Steal the Dimensional Raygun", morality mission going from villain to rogue.
The nav text says, "Get topside into the Sky Raider base to get the key to the safe!"
I got through the ship and out of it, and I've been all over the base (looks like an oil rig) and tried every door multiple times. I can't get into the base!
I have no clue what to do.
Anybody done this one, can you help me figure this out?
Thanks in advance. -
Quote:This.Give me TFs that can be ran solo, with Elite Bosses in place of AVs, and I'll find some sympathy for those complaining about the forced soloing in GR. Until then... /shrug.
I had the exact same experience in the Hollows back in the day, and while I did run the mini TF ONCE, after that it seemed pointless to ever run those missions again. The method people were using to beat the Cave of Transcendence was extremely efficient, and also extremely boring for 6 - 7 of the 8 people you had to have.
I like teaming when I feel like it, but often I don't. One of the things that makes CoX my MMORPG of choice is that you can solo it, to the "end" (50), even though you do miss all the TF content, which is a shame.
I love a certain fantasy MMO because it brought to life the world of a wonderful set of books, but you can't solo it and get to the best content. Period. I'll never see the best areas unless I tag along with a higher level player.

Great post, Sam. I love your description of the ironic contrast, and the experience you had working through Praetoria and then arriving in CoH. Nicely written.
I was all bedazzled with the new stuff, and I'm definitely looking forward to playing through it multiple times to see how the branching storylines play out. I paused with my new Praetorian yesterday though, because I have a Villain I want to get moving towards his redemption.I haven't played him in a while, and left him at level 17. I thought since I need to get him to 20 before I can start looking for tips, I'd go ahead and work on that.
When I picked him up I discovered I'd left him in the middle of Seer Marino's arc. It was just content at first, a means to level. However as I worked through the last several missions and completed the arc, I suddenly thought, "Wow, this feels more like something a Rogue would do, rather than a villain - helping this Fortunata Seer try to save her brother." It starts with threats of revenge against Ghost Widow but in the end, you find yourself helping to resolve, as much as the situation can be, a conflict between two very human (though one is a ghost) characters.
So, I wouldn't say the legacy game is in any way devoid of the same themes that seem to run through Praetoria. It doesn't steamroll the legacy content for me, it actually has brought an interesting extra depth to it. -
I like them because I love the concept, and the visuals.
I've only got one 50, and she's a broadsword regen scrapper, and never had any real problems with them once I got the gist of how they operate.
For the Ring Mistresses and Master Illusionists, she goes in and hits them hard, taking them out fast before they get too fractious (usually). Headsplitter cures many ills.
I love that alt. She's spoiled me for a lot. -
Nothing's been the same at Paragon Studios since old Marley died.
:P -
...if so where?
If not, hmm. no auctioning till level 20?
I looked around but I couldn't figure this out. Any info appreciated.
