Yah, thats' why I personally hate vet reward costume bits. The other stuff? Its fine, its cool - but the costume bits? Wth!

It'd be different if they were merely 'cooler' versions of already existent pieces - that I would be fine with - but it always hacks me off when a unique piece comes up as a vet reward only. And it only gets worse the further we go too. I mean, what happens when a newbie starts up today, and has to subscribe literally for years just to get costume bits?

And now for something completely different.

Ok so basically, I just experimented with some ink sketching.

Some explanations are in order!

First - the thing in the middle was *supposed* to be a female marine... she came out horribly so I didn't even finish. Initially I tried to erase her from the scan... but that ruins everything else, because everything else wound up contingent on her being in place >.< oh well.

So yah, ignore the big ugly blob in the center.

Now then, the top is a female stormtrooper (WH40k stormtrooper, not the goofy white armored guys from Star Wars >.&gt, and the bottom is a space marine, sans back-pack thinger. The sword and wing is just a preliminary idea for a chapter symbol for a group of marines that are in my fan-fic stuff; and the flower is a symbol for an entire breakaway faction.

None of its really CoH stuff; but I was happy with the inks, and its also the first time I've seriously tried in sketching with no pencils at all.

So I guess I'm just curious what you all think of my 'inks only' approach! I'll probably do more of it later regardless, just because it felt good to loosen up for once, and thats something I don't do much with pencils.

Quite cool overall <^_^>!! The ONLY thing I note - and it may be intentional, but I do notice it - is that he has a bit of a simian cast to his face.

I think you also need to branch out your subject material just a bit too! Whilst erotica is a fantastic thing (and I do mean that - don't think I'm kidding), one should try for breadth in things.

Try for a more artsy pose now and again; or maybe fully clothed without a panty shot.

This is not me ragging on what you do >.< never that - merely that I think it would be good to branch out some and try new things.

oekaki is what I thought of too; but its not quite the same I don't think. Oekaki has a bit more of a "flash art" look more often than not, cause its done really quickly >.<

It's so true, and I wish I'd known it when I started.

When I started, I was just told that 'anime sucks' or 'you shouldn't draw cartoons'.

No one ever told me *WHY* - so by the time I got really serious; I'd become quite hardened to the idea of doing realism; and only recently has it been that I've realized how necessary it is.

Realism is the foundation of everything else - everything else is a distortion of it; sometimes a VERY COOL distortion, but a distortion nonetheless.

Thus, no matter what you wish to draw, its probably best to start off doing realism, you'll do yourself a big favor having a good foundation before tying yourself to a style.
