Originally Cross Dresser was the name I chose so that I could play a girl alt (made 2 males first) without getting hit on by creepy lonely guys. It's worked with one exception and that guy was really really creepy. But after a month or so I was really enjoying the sets and wrote up the following backstory so the name made sense to everyone.
"When the Circle of Thorns realized that Duke Manlyname was a threat, they removed his soul and placed it into an emerald to keep him from ruining their plans. However, during an effort to save the unwitting citizen by a group of inexperienced heroes, the emerald was broken and Duke's soul went into the nearest body without one. That body had previously belonged to Shrouded Quill, a spine/dark armor scapper whom had had her soul removed too. With his soul now trapped in the body of another, Duke chose the name Cross Dresser to signify his situation and uses his hosts abilities to fight and find his way back to his old self." -
if you're looking for new characters to draw, I'm poor and trying to start collecting

holy crap LJ, i wish I could free form like you do

even though i'm too late technically, you wanted to be critiqued and i'll throw in my opinion on both.
Pose 1: head's too small, leg on our right (really bent one) wouldn't bend that far. guys with big leg muscles like that aren't as flexible as a kitten. my legs are large and i can't get my foot anywhere near that close to my butt. i'd say the maximum bend would be to about 10 degrees, you have it at about 2. he has a GI JOE waist. i.e. his hips/stomach has an abrupt shift rather than a smooth transition in the turn.
pose 2: bring the upper arm down some. ribs seem a bit too wide. his left wrist looks a bit broken, i'd angle it a bit inwards so you can see the back of his hand slightly.
And you mentioned burstiing through a wall, most large things bursting through a wall curl up as they do it and explode outwards. watch the juggernaut chasing kitty in x3 for an example.
Posing can be rather difficult, for me I found some girl on deviantart that takes pictures of herself in outfits for stock photography. She has tons of poses and it really helps me get positioning and body shape right. Perhaps you can look for pictures for inspiration before you start randomly throwing a pose onto paper from your head.
And after all the negativity above, they both look quite good despite some small flaws, keep it up. -
sorry bout the not reply. Last year was before school and before my work started, so i had tons of free time. This year I'm working full time so I can't guarantee I'll be bored enough in my free time to get to them.

I got it scanned in with a much better quality image of it. Same link as above goes to it.

It was only that one time, Mantid, and you'd best keep your mandibles shut about it.

Yeah, the name originated because I wanted a female character that wouldn't get hit on by guys.

I for one am still in this competition, but havne't thought of anything great to draw yet.

I finished shading my sketch of Cross Dresser tonight. This is my first real work in about 6 years since art class in high school. All done with a .5 mechanical pencil.
Here it is.
Comments are requested, good or bad. I'll try and scan it next time I'm at work and update it to a better quality image. -

asking what epic powerset to take with a sonic/sonic in a sonic/sonic guide thread makes sense to me. Unfortunately I don't have an answer

yeah, i have a build planned out where i traded out focused acc for throw spines. I jsut haven't had the time to go over and test it.

Just remember, it's probably more that 100 million to get most of these IOs

you have no idea how many songs i've air guitar hero'd to thinking to myself that they would be amazing fun to play in it.

no comments at all? I thought I got a decent start into it

After yesterday's failed attempt at too much detail on too small of a page I learned from that mistake and drew rather larger. Not at work today so instead of a scan I took a picture with my camera. Caused a bit of glare when zoomed out but you can see it well in full size.
I have no idea how to do inking/coloring on computers. I was thinking of doing a pencil shading myself, but wanted to share it in case anyone was interested in inking it. Or, if anyone has any inking tutorials that they know of that are helpful perhaps when I'm back from holiday I can attempt that. Either way, here's my newest drawing of Cross Dresser
And here's a reference photo . -
wow, i just noticed how blown out the lighter lines became when i scanned it. My bad, wish i would've noticed a while ago when I was still near a scanner and i could've patched it up, but now i won't be near that scanner till early january.

Unfortunately I started on an 8 x 11 piece of paper but wanted to work on something large and detailed. Because of that the characters in it ended up really small (bout 6 inches) and therefore the facial details were literally milimeters in size, which made them very difficult to pull off in a way I liked. After redrawing an eye about 20 times without feeling an improvement I decided to stop this one for now. I really like the positioning though so at some point I might rework it on larger paper.
Anyways, it was all done with a single mechanical pencil and eraser, cause i don't know anything about drawing in photoshop. And if any of you want to attempt to color it or improve it that'd be awesome, just ask me about coloring for the main character. Oh, and she's spine/dark. So here it is.

Suggestions for improvement are appreciated.
