My focus will be on excellerating my Dull Pain to be recharged fast first and formost, and the rest of the requested IO increases are secondary concern.

I would perfer not having it in a Mids format, but a mapped out IO and Slot chart for use.

Thank you for your time.I want to be a Vanguard Sword Soldier in PvP, and will look as such.

Purple IOs will be fine, I finally have a farmer I can live with.

He doesn't have to explain himself to anyone who doesn't have the foresight to search for and read the man's posts.

    Thx.
  3. I wonder if our local Controller expert Local_Man can offer us some insight. In my limited(24 mos.) time playing this game I cannot imagine a Grav/TA being able to handle the most difficult of enemies that an Ill/Rad can. Am I wrong here?

I can say from my experience I toyed with Controllers here and there but I too wasn't very satisfied with some of the early level performance of various combos. I had always overheard the stories of the awesomeness of the Ill/Rad but I put it off for more than a year.

I finally dipped my toe into the powerset combo and W o W. Once I experienced the set I was dismayed I hadn't tried it earlier on. Now understand, my gaming philosophy is all about the best of the best.

Altitis is ok, but my joy is supreme effectiveness. To be more specific, supreme effectiveness at the high levels such as above level 40. Unless one is planning to farm Posi, I do not understand the need for an effective, low level dps controller.

I rolled a Mind/Kin once. He was pretty effective at the lower levels when I ran solo. Hit roadblocks post level 40 trying to run Tina Mac's and Maria's story arcs. My Mind/Kin is now permashelved.

I understand my gaming philosophy is very unique. To my detriment, I am all about reaching the pinnacle of effectiveness in all AT power set combos. I realize I am severely limiting my gaming experience but I'm ok with it. I want godmode, not altitis .

    Okay, rant over.

The thread on how Shield Defense so outperforms other secondaries may have expediated the nerfs( or corrections) Castle is going to implement.

  7. I have 3 MMs to date.

    Bots/DM

    Thugs/DM

    Demon/DM

I have found I am not able to include Hasten in any so I've decided to build up as much recharge as I can from sets.

So I have my Dark Servant slotted with 4 pieces from the Clouded Senses set:
    • accuracy/recharge
    • accuracy/to hit debuff
    • to hit debuff/endurance/recharge(acc/end/rech preferred if avail.)
    • chance for negative damage
    • I use a 5th slot to place a to hit debuff/recharge from Dampened Spirits to get perm.

DS/Dark is great, but it also looks to be FoTM, so go with something a little less seen and bring something different to the team.
I highlighted that particular word because the single target heal has a 30 second recharge while the aoe heal as a 25 second recharge.

There's no way for any MM secondary to boost those recharge #s. Yes the shields will help but the heals won't do much if you're taking tough opponents, even less if you're being attacking by a standard mob of a dozen or so.
  9. Seldom posted an absolute gem a few months back.

So the next time someone asks for this, post the following:

    1. Pistol whip
You pull out your gun, and whack someone over the head with it
    2. Dual Pistol whip
You hit them with both of your guns. Hey, they're metal. Metal is hard! it's bound to hurt them! Low chance of looking ridiculous.
    3. Point blank shot
You shoot a foe at close range, dealing great damage. You can only use this at melee range, as your aim is just that bad.
    4. Pistol whip frenzy
You swing your pistol around like crazy, with a chance to clonk enemies on the head. Carries a heavy chance of looking ridiculous.
    5. Confront
You challenge a single foe. Notice, if you recently looked ridiculous, this will fail.
    6. Unload clips
You unload all your rounds, but since your aim is bad, this must be used at melee range. 10% chance of shooting yourself in the foot (Heavy ridiculous debuff)
    7. Rage
You get really angry..the more ridiculous you've looked, the more damage you do.
    8. Shoot everything
You shoot everything. Warning, this can damage allies. 10% chance to shoot yourself in the face.
    9. Dual pistol whip again and again
You choose a target and hit them again and again with both of your guns. 75% chance of looking ridiculous.

I know, it could be overpowered, but I think it's a necessary set for any hand to hand fighter.
  10. Hey!

Look it's some guy hitting people with guns!

Don't you think he might be more effective with..say...a sword made of Impervium?

Maybe, but it makes for such a cool concept!

You don't like buffing every 90 seconds
You prefer to deal damage (mind you, this toon is a corr)

All valid reasons and fair in point to the person with SB. I have SB on his current build and will try to adapt. I'll see where I end up later on with use

    @Kioshi
Sorry my Doms are all perma'd w/o help, so I don't personally see most of your argument as truely valid. IMO those doms need to grind and get perma'd so they don't need a kin.
So....if your purpose was to solicit opinions....why are you engaging in back-n-forths with those who provided you with what you were looking for?

For the record opinions are just that opinions. They represent reality for the person offering the opinion. The only way you will get what you're looking for is to play your kin without sb and see how it goes.

If you comeback with "I made this thread to pick the brain of the playerbase with respect to SB".....then why did you start with the back-n-forths?

    Very intriguing thread btw.

    Misunderstanding here.

I believe magik wants the "option" to disable the graphic.

I agree with the "option" to disable any power's graphic in the game.
  13. I prefer Dark Miasma over Poison because, IN MY OPINION, Dark Miasma is a more effective secondary when you consider everything this game can throw at you.

If someone tells me "You absolutely cannot handle an AV/Hero with Dark Miasma" then I would pick Poison even though AVs/Heroes encompass a fraction of game content because I like to have all of my bases covered.

Although Dark Miasma is not able to neuter tough, single opponents as much as Poison can, it can still handle tough, single opponents to an acceptable degree. For me I like Dark Miasma because it the ease at which it handles large groups. Poison does have aoe capability but it doesn't fit my play style.

I like playing in bodyguard mode all the time. If a boss gets lucky and hits me while I'm setting PGT, then the safetey of my pets is compromised until I can set the trap down. With Dark Miasma I toggle darkest night, hit the mob with an aoe immob, then fearsome stare, followed by provoke. I keep spamming provoke so my pets are free to attack and continue the aoe immob. until it is no longer needed.

I imagine someone may say I haven't played Poison very well. They would be correct. I gave up on Poison early on because of the lack of pet support at the lower lvls.

I'll have to give it another shot in the near future.

p.s. let's keep this debate civil. Poison lovers need not get bent out of shape & flame.
  14. I find if I'm not able to form a team and therefore run solo I get bored very quickly, log off and find something else to do.

Being my mindset with respect to online gaming is so narrow, I tend to play my power sets to what I perceive to be their strengths within a team setting.

You cannot control how others will react to your power selections. Some people will kick you immediately if they don't see SB on your kin, while others won't give a damn.

Do what works best for you in the way you enjoy playing the game.

Can I please get clarification from other players on the item I highlighted?

The link does not say anything about receiving any "accolade."
  17. My poor, thin-skinned friend.

Since when is Sherlock Holmes threatening?

Or did you object to Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal of the literary icon?
  18. You are absolutely correct.

The description does not specify interruptable.

Deduction, on the other hand, points to the power being interruptable.

I cannot imagine the devs creating a temporary self heal with a 3.3 second activation time without an interruptable component.

The self heals in primary and secondary power sets are not interruptable.

The self heal in the Medicine pool is interruptable since it isn't supposed to be as functional as a primary/secondary self heal.

    My dear Mr. Watson,

given the available data at hand one may deduce this temporary self heal is in fact interruptable.
  19. You are absolutely right tymer.

    I was out of line.

I will make a greater attempt to correct my behavior on the forums

    Your rebuttal is fail.

I guarantee if any redname took sides, they would say my train of thought is the only valid one.

Positron asks "I have within my capabilities to allow you to keep all of your slotted IOs when you respec. How many do you think I should allow you to keep?"

Noob answers "A total of 20 sounds very good to me!"

Positron's face contorts in utter confusion "........Okay.....so....let me get this straight. I'm offering you the ability to keep ALL of your enhancements whenever you respec. In other words, I am increasing the size of your character's enhancement holding tray during respecs so it can hold ALL of your slotted IOs......and you are happy with me allowing you to keep a total of 20?"

Noob flashes a big grin "Yes sir!"

    Positron turns and walks away.

The kind of change this thread is asking for is short sighted. Why ask for increased enhancement tray when you can have all enhancements be "non-permanent?"

You can have the last word on this back 'n forth because I find it very meh.
  21. Sorry, I don't much enjoy using my $15 to stand around and pretend to interact with my minions.

    I prefer more engaging activities.

    ITF comes to mind.
  22. Pointless thread/suggestion.

Here's how I will deal the deathblow:

why are you content with the scraps when you could have the whole meal?

If the devs were actually going to make a change then why settle for a few more enhancements.

If you're going to bother with this suggestion then we should ask that enhancements are not "permanent."

If one so desires, they can slot an enhancement and 60 seconds later remove the enhancement because they've changed their mind or made a mistake.

You think by asking for just a little bit more this specific request is valid and justified.

    Wrong.
  23. EDIT: Ah Grim beat me to it. Ya I encountered this problem yesterday

Nothing seams to fix this. Its like a wierd memory leack in game at exactly the same place when I readd my enchancments.

Iv tryed both respec npcs as well.
I had this problem the other day. Here's how I was able to fix it:
    • As soon as you're on the screen with your enhancements you should immediately place at least 5 enhancements, if not more, in the character's personal enhancement tray.
    • As soon as you get to the point where the 4th line collapses on itself, you should place an enhancement or 2 that you have in your tray into the enhancement window that holds the enhancements you have yet to place into powers.
    • By placing an enhancement into that window it will expand once more, revealing all of your enhancements.

I suspect this is a bug of some sort. I'm sure someone's on their hands & knees fixing it.
