    1) You can now take more attacks and defensive powers sooner. (You know, Those things that use up endurance)

    2) You have the same number of enhancements to spread over more powers, reducing the amount of endurance reduction enhancements you can slot. (Well, you know, since it is almost a requirement on all AT's to slot 2 ACC enhancements on every attack if you hope to, you know, like, hit anything at all.)

    3) Stamina, slotted with low level enhancements does little to overcome the drain added by #1 and #2

It really evens out at higher levels, but the endurance problem for low level characters has only been exacerbated by inherent fitness.

Now, everyone tell me why I'm wrong.
    Hube rhymes with n00b.

    How bout that...

I suppose in the long run I'll eventually get around to slotting all the incarnate slots on all my alts but in the immediate future I'm going to work on my most used alts.

Those alts being my dm/sr, ill/rad, emp/son, spine/da. I might get around to slotting my MMs but only if the minions somehow benefit from the bonuses.
  3. Hello Mr/Ms game developers,

I'd like to throw in a suggestion of my own.

Might you please offer new animations for all the powers in the Traps power set similar to the animation currently in stock for the power Caltrops.

So basically I would like animations for all Trap powers with a similar animation time and style to that of the Caltrops power.

I imagine changes to the Traps power set like the one I proposed would result in the opinion that the set would become overpowered but I stand by my suggestion.

If this means there's no chance in hell for a change like this then that's the way it's going to be.

    Thank you.

I leave Sprint running on my Ice/Kin Corruptor. Running away is a critical part of her survival plan solo. Sprint + Siphon Speed is nearly Superspeed levels, and with the slows in Ice Blast, getting some distance is a valuable tool.

Frankly, I find movement without Sprint to be sluggish, so if I'm planning on moving at all, I'll leave it on. I slot for enough endredux, recovery, and +end to make up for the cost, and avoid moving at a slow jog. I never really got where all the hate comes from. There are far worse things you could do than just leave Sprint running.
You missed the point my fren. Rocketman values gimp as a means to fulfill his gaming experience.

By slotting your Sprint with end.red. in addition to IO rec. bonuses you have worked around the gimpage that Rocketman subjects himself to in order to get his rocks off.

You jumped into the middle of a debate without understanding both sides.

I don't mind though since I have been guilty of such behavior myself from time to time.

I highlighted that last sentence of your post because it demonstrates how utterly useless any point you were trying to make with this thread.

You don't want an easy button and you want to add an element of challenge to your gaming experience? Easy answer is to gimp your character by not taking key powers from either the primary or secondary power sets not to mention turning Sprint on and never turning it off to further gimp(or challenge) your gaming experience.

Game might be tougher if you deliberately refused to carry any inspirations.

What does it say about the mindset of an individual who has mixed feelings about what is essentially a buff to endurance recovery, regeneration rate and movement speed at the levels we lovingly refer to the "pre-level 20 grind?"

You mention working on a number of stamina-less and having fun...so your mixed feelings come from having a sense of accomplishment taken away from you?

I find this sentiment odd...very odd actually. It's the primary reason I did not place a post until the thread had reached the eleventh page.

So to close my post, we have members of the CoX community who have mixed feelings about characters receiving buffs to endurance recovery, regeneration rate and movement speeds at level 4.

    Resist vs Def

If you want an unbiased opinion on the effectiveness of maximum resists versus softcapped defense you can....now this is gonna sound crazy I know....run an identical AE mish with stock critters with the maxed resist toon then the softcapped one.

You'll get the answer you're looking for without any input from the cheerleaders of the resist-based toon versus the defense-based toon.

    Kind of like:

Which will do more damage: SD / Elec Tanker or Elec / SD brute or Elec / SD scrapper?

There is a right answer. There is a wrong answer. Go roll a ****ing blaster is not even remotely close to relevant to the question, yet this is what we're getting here.

    @All of the negative folks

And for everyone who is ******** about "you're gonna totally **** over every group your in because you're an idiot"

STFU. Ever group with a kid? Like a 6 year old? 10 year old? Someone who fell asleep during a TF? Someone who was so drunk/baked they couldn't figure out which end was up? How do you know exactly? Ever have someone DC mid TF to come back for the last mish? They were "needed", weren't they?

How many "bad people" do you group with in a week? How the hell do you know? They don't buff you? They don't debuff the AV? They don't heal you? If its a DPS AT, how the hell do you tell if they're "good" or "bad"?

BLAMMO! SPAWN MELTS IN 2.3 SECONDS - MOVE TO THE NEXT!

Who made that happen? The heavily debuff slotted fender? The Purpled out blaster? The scrapper with a death wish? Was it the Petless MM who stealthed around and created a room of doom while you were picking your butt? Who was it that was "good" there and who was just "ok"? Who was bad? Was it the brute who ate the alpha and died to bad rolls? Was it the Emp who was picking his nose during that pull?

You ONLY say that petless MMs are going to be bad on a team because they have (in this case lack) something that makes their choices obvious. When a bubbler doesn't bubble you - you call them bad. When a Arc/TA only bothers to toss out oil slick when its up and is on follow the rest of the time, you call them "good". You can't see what they are or are not doing, so therefore they must be doing well. I know for a fact that people have AFked the better part of TFs I've been on - all the while just being on /follow with a heal on auto - and people STILL tell them they did a good job

If someone rolls into your group, you're smashing along and on mission 3 of the TF before you realize that you haven't seen any pets from the MM - is he somehow holding you back?

Seriously. GTFO of here with this crap. You don't want crappy people on your team (well, other than you)? Don't PUG. And let's just be REALLY honest here for a minute. Besides an Mo(X)TF, a CoP, or maybe a Hami raid, is there anything actually hard enough in this game that 1, 2, or even 3 of the people in your 8 man group can't be lobotomized monkeys drooling on their keyboard? My 6 year old plays this... he does well. Its not a hard game people. Really its not.
    Manic much???

The scariest part about this giant wall of text is this person claims to be a parent. He is the primary rolemodel for his 6 year old and injects words in ALL CAPS to stress a point, uses STFU, GTFO...all over a game which in his own words isn't "a hard game."

Truly shocking and sad. You became heated and made the judgement to post all of this mess.

Now to get back on topic, the whole point of petless MM bashing is because it's the equivalent of asking the Q "If you had to travel from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and your choices for mode of transportation are: walking, a commercial lawn mower or a pogo stick, which do you suppose would get you to Las Vegas faster?

The answer is they can all get you to your destination but the entire exercise would be a waste of time.

And thus we come back to the title of the thread.

i17 has come and gone and now people see the Demon whip attacks and say "Whips look so cool!"

    When will they ever learn?...

Apologies for the harshness but seriously...you're basically asking people to discuss the merits of a Scrapper/Tanker/Brute without any toggles or a Controller/Dom relying solely on the tier 1 from their primary.

It's your $15 but I cannot imagine you'll find many in the community that will offer you the kind of feedback you're looking for with respect to this project of yours

Have a feeling Joe is playing with a travel power running or sprint or ninja run.

Even stamina with 2 slots in addition to 30% end.red. in each attack is more than enough. I assume he has end.red. in every shield toggle as well.

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no and no.

Unless you're going for a set bonus, you're better off slotting the proc on a player who does not have regular access to the amount of endurance bonus AM provides.

By slotting it in AM you give each person hit by AM a 20% chance to recover 10 endurance every time it recharges.

If you have procs to burn, then by all means. Otherwise use 'em on ATs that would get more out of 'em.

    Tips system

I'm moving my 50 thug/dark to paragon. I've street sweeped for tips, first in Grandville to make rogue status.

I then began to street sweep in Talos to complete the full change. Maybe I got lucky during these two days but tips were coming in literally at 1 per minute give or take a few seconds.

Your attempt to sway people here with all of your points deserves a self-facepalm.

That last part of your post absolutely shreds any credibility you have on this topic. NO blaster is such an intergral part of any team dynamic that 7 other players should stand by for 9 seconds so the blaster can drop all the even-con minions every 100 seconds or so with a perma hasten build.

In your mind 7 other people not waiting while you plant bombs is a negative reflection on them as gamers?

I hope in the future you refrain from offering up such garbage posts. I won't speak for anyone else but I cannot imagine most reasonable forum goers not marking your posts as perma-ignored.
  18. I guarantee the OP only wants a petelss Bot because he wants an energy rifle power set and this is how he's gonna fulfill his concept.

And some of you may already be aware of what I think of concept builds.

    I could use some advice.
I don't have any advice with respect to Thermal but I will give you advice with respect to how you should conduct yourself.

Interesting you clump min/maxers and fotm with so called "munchkin copycats." What I find incredibly ironic about players like you and Fire_Minded is you claim to set yourselves apart from everyone else by prioritizing concept over performance. One of the primary factors in determining which combos you play is your desire to try something different from the norm.

You're determined to not be another fotm lemming. Therefore your approach to gaming is unique and based on what is right and fun for you.

One problem though: your whole reason for gaming and the thing that gets you to the place you want to be is a result of the mindset you are against. You base your gaming experience on the gaming experiences of the community at large.

If you're interested in Thermal, say that. When you start throwing jabs at so called fotms, min/max'rs, munchinks, lemmings, etc...you're given yourself away for what you really are.

  23. I spent a few mins. thinking about how Dark Miasma might be proliferated to Controllers in the very near future.

So here's what I came up with:
    • Dark Miasma (controller secondary set)
    • Twilight Grasp: corruptor version, 20% heal
    • Tar Patch: unchanged any version
    • Darkest Night: -25%dmg, -20% to hit
    • Howling Twilight: corruptor version
    • Shadow Fall: corruptor version
    • Wave of Negativity(cone aoe, night fall anim. perhaps?):
Unleash a cone of negative particles at your enemies. The negative particles will interact with the victims at a sub-atomic level, wreaking havoc on the speed at which they recharge powers as well as reducing endurance recovery

      end.cost: 18.2, acc.: 75%, rech.: 60s, dur.: 30s, range: 70ft, arc: 45`, cast: 2.03s, -40%rech to targets, -40% to target's movement, -100% recovery to targets
    • Tortured Soul(animation: Dark Blast's Gloom is a good fit):
You summon a negative presence that will invade a single target. Your enemy's ability to fight off and survive attacks will be reduced.
end.: 15.6, acc.: 75%, rech.: 90s, dur.: 30s, range: 70ft, -30% def. to target, -30 res. to target
    • Black Hole: corruptor version, single target only.
    • Dark Spectre (targeted aoe, howling twilight animation perhaps?, CoT Spectral Daemon critter costume or new?):
You use all your might to tap deep into the underworld to conjure an extremely powerful entity. Upon entering this dimension, the Dark Spectre will immediately hold all enemies with the radius of it's power in addition to using it's enemies own endurance to power it's aura of negativity. As well as being held(acc. check), all enemies within the Dark Spectre's immense negative aura will suffer numerous effects. After summoning the Dark Spectre, the Controller will lose the ability to recover endurance for a while.

end.: 20.8, acc: 75%, rech.: 300s, dur.: 27.9s, cast: 2.93s, radius: 60ft, mag 3 hold, -1000% rec. to self for 15s, -40% endurance loss for targets, -500% recovery to targets for 15s

The main idea behind the tier 9 is to have it behave like Radiation Emission's tier 9 nuke, only targeted instead of pbaoe.

So this is me just scewing around a bit. I'm sure the #s aren't balanced to where they would work in-game but it could be a start. It doesn't seem to be too overpowered with respect to multi-holds and debuffs when you do some # crunching on various combos such as Ill/Rad, /Cold Dom, Mind/Rad.

I thought perhaps to give the tier 9 a -regen component but dual -regen does not currently exist in any controller power sets combination.

Just so we understand each other, these aren't the numbers or specific powers that would go live. This is a forum and I'm expressing an idea for whoever to read and judge.

    So then.

    Let the flameage begin!

    Concept Builds

One of the things I like about this game is the ability, albeit not as unlimited as I would prefer, to create a unique costume for my characters.

None of my 20 or so alts look anything like an existing character, fictional or otherwise.

Examples: I have an Empathy Defender I've costumed to look like a mutant bird of sorts named Chicken McHeals.

I also have a short, stumpy DM/SR scrapper I've named Deathstrike Darkly. He has a somewhat ninja costumed theme.

I'm not saying it's wrong to base your costume on established characters.
All I'm saying is I cannot understand the appeal.
Given what this game offers with respect to powers, you're not going to remake your favorite established characters as they appear in the source material.
