  1. Hi Elder Simons I hope you can make it looking forward to meeting you again
  2. mereman

    A little help :)

Slaz if I knew you had that much spare cash I'd have tapped you for some of it
  3. Well as it will be only a temp alt for the cossie comp then perhaps we use a server that you have moved an alt over from. Then just delete it again.

Mind you I have nothing to do with running the player meet. So I could be talking out of my backside
  4. I hope and pray we don't open as we did last year with a SStf1

But going by last year I think we Defiant types ran a Kahn. We also tried a Itrial (and I can't remember which) on Union.

A cossie comp on a quiet NA server (this you won't need to transfer any as it's for lvl1

I would suggest a good all rounder to transfer (dom, troller, fender or Scrapper/Brute) are always welcome. With one or two of those you should be fine.
  5. That sounds like Freezy

I think together with not being allowed sharp instruments and such he has now been banned from the emails (jokin' btw Freezy and me are well known to take the juice out of each other)
  6. Have a drink for every new rules added to the thread
  7. Oh dear he's found us.

    Hi Freezy.
  8. I can guarantee everything will go well and be great fun.

With the number of nutcases it CAN'T fail
  9. Got tickets for coach and hotel booked.

So sorry to you all I'll be there again
  10. As Robo's going to be there I'd better try to make it

I should be about all weekend (sorry folks)

I will need a PC please.
  11. Everything up just as I have to go and meet my wife off the train.
  12. That's the trouble with you young'uns Prof just can't wait for anything
  13. Things can and do go wrong but I would have hoped that there would have been a post somewhere to say there are problems.
  14. Tanker Tuesday a all Tank event. Started on one of the ex US servers on a Tuesday

I think I have that correct.
  15. I can make it some afternoons (the beauty of retirement). But until the school holidays are over (looking after my Grandson Tuesdays and Fridays) I can do Wednesday, Thursdays and Saturdays (all depends if Mrs M wants to go out)
  16. I don't PvP. But from what I understand if you rush to 50 you are going to have your backside handed to you on a plate very very often

There is no quick way except by playing thru the levels (the only real way you get to learn what each power is like).

    That aside welcome.

  17. The Player Event Resource Committee Presents:
    The Great Makeover: The Vindicators

    August 1st to 21st, 2012

There are many Hero and Villain Groups in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles, with new ones forming all the time using the latest fashion and equipment in their attire. One of the original groups, The Vindicators, has been in need of some new costumes for quite some time now and are seeking out designers! Your challenge: Makeover The Vindicators!

The Vindicators are a hero group led by Ms. Liberty. They can often be found with Longbow fighting Arachnos in the Rogue Isles. (Wiki Page)

Contestants will only use the in-game character creator to design a "makeover" for any number of The Vindicators listed above. Your goal is to create a set of costumes for the "New" Vindicators. All options in the character creator are fair game, meaning even Paragon Market and Badge earned pieces may be used in the design. Sticking to the lore is important to us, but contestants may even go as far as changing character genders and no matter what changes are made, we would like to know why they were made. Reasoning could be simple or complex, but we want to know what contestants were thinking in why they changed what they did other than the obligatory "It was ugly."
    • Two entries per global per Vindicator are allowed: @Person can submit two separate Ms. Libertys, but cannot submit a third Ms. Liberty etc..
    • Non-VIP may enter, but be aware there may be limitations to the amount of INF awarded, or any of the IO sets.
    • To be considered for the top prize pools, contestants must submit at least an entry for minimum of 4 of the 8 Vindicators.
    • Judging will be based on: Creativity, Overall Aesthetic, and the tie in to City of Heroes' Lore.

    • The top 20 entries will receive 100 million INF (Must have at least 4 individual Vindicators)
    • The top 4 entries will receive an additional 500 million INF (Must have at least 4 individual Vindicators)
    • The top entry for each of the 8 Vindicator will receive 125 million INF
    • All entries will be entered into a random IO Set Enhancement drawing which will include, but are not limited to: Numina ++, Miracle +, Steadfast 3%, and LoTG 7.5%.
    • Contestants can win in each prize pool, but cannot win twice in a given pool!

    • The submission period is August 1st to 21st, 2012.
    • Entries can be submitted in three ways: Submission Thread, Private Message, or Email: perc.coh@gmail.com
      • Forum posted entries that are NOT posted in the submission thread will NOT be considered.
    • Each entry must include a global handle, the name of the Vindicator, 3 images or links to images displaying the makeover, and why (reasoning) the changes were made.
      • The 3 required images should show the Front, Side, and Back of the character.
      • Please do not submit more than 3 pictures or links per Vindicator.
    • The submission format can be seen below and there is an example in the submission thread.
    • If you are posting pictures, please try to keep the width near 300px. If you do not / cannot crop your images then simply post the link rather than have it displayed.
    Code:
    Global Handle: @Your Handle

    Vindicator: [Insert Vindicator's Name]

    Pic or Link 1
    Pic or Link 2
    Pic or Link 3

    Why: [Insert Why]

Q- Can I change the gender of a character?
A- You may, but you will need to have a solid story based reason for doing so.

Q- Can I change the name of a character?
A- You may change a character's name, but please provide your reasoning for doing so and how that fits into current (or reasonably predicted) lore.

Q- I don't know how to post a screen shot, can I still enter?
A- You can enter by emailing your screen shots to perc.coh@gmail.com and we will host and post them for you. Please include your global and forum name in the email. You can also make use of free image hosts like: http://www.tinypic.com

Q- Do I need to take the screen shots of the character in the costume creator or can I take an action shot?
A- You may take your screen shots with any background you chose. Please make sure the picture clearly shows the character's new look. Also note, powers (customized or not) will not be judged.

    Q- What about weapons?
A- You are welcome to show weapons in your screenshots if you feel it adds to your makeover look.

Q- How exactly do my entries count towards prizes?
A- You can submit up to 16 different costume entries per global (2 per Vindicator). All your entries will count towards the "best of" whichever Vindicator it is. Each set of Vindicators (at least 4) will count towards the top 20 and top 4 prizes. If you choose to create more than 4 costumes per set, your best 4 will be counted and you will get a small bonus for the additional creations.

  19. The Player Event Resource Committee would like to thank all of the base builders who entered and completed the Design Challenge - Disaster Base! Each and every one of you surprised and amazed us with your skills, creativity, and commitment to your design. This was certainly not an easy contest and it was a true pleasure to see all of the bases come to life!

Just as a reminder, the base builders were given a base with an entrance and one 3 by 3 room. They had 200 random items of "wreckage" that had to be used to complete the base and 50k in prestige as "disaster relief funds." Bases were judged based on creativity, use of the "wreckage," cohesion/theme, difficulty, and overall aesthetics.

    Overall High Scores

  21. Quick comment on RAM.

I use XP still (won't change until I build a new system) I was running 2GB and in Atlas was getting stuttering and FPS between 20 to 45, I added another 2 GB which gives about 3.25GB after overheads are taken out. I'm now running without the stuttering and FPS between 30 to 60.

I will agree that zoning times is still about the same.

FPS were checked with FRAPS which is always running.
  22. mereman

    Server Status?

Tuesdays are quite often patch days. So I guess that's why CoH is down at the moment.
  23. Same problem as Cat here but I have also got into the habit of restarting CoH every 2 TFs.

I'm running XP with 4 gbs memory. Normally the crash report shows lack of memory.
  24. Riff mate I'm really very happy things are now looking up. I've known you a few years now and had the real pleasure of meeting you last year.

I have seen you really down and I have taken part in some of your madcap ideas. Now who am I to talk about Cricket with?.

You have been a big part of Defiant for many years, it's not often it can be said, when a player leaves "He will be missed" but in your case it's true.

As Sarg said please keep in touch with us on the IJ forums.

To end I will just say that my time on Defiant was always made better with your company. Oh and remember me when you make your first million (pounds that is not inf) I hope you will get back now and again if only to take the yellow liquid
