    Solo, yes.

In a team, a Super Stunner frequently gets several heroes in his rez-nuke, and pops back up at full health.

    They are really a pain....

I personally recommend six slotting with Multistrikes. Damage Auras are excellent sources of damage, the set bonuses of Multistrike are nice, and the heavy endurance reduction in the set go a long way toward making the aura a 'set and forget' power, which is as it should be.

    YMMV.

It's made a huge difference... now it's rare for more than one def debuff to get a chance to stack.
    Exactly.

Enough defense IS defense debuff resistance. I spoke to a buddy of mine, his PVE build is sitting at 70 percent S/L defense.

    Wow. Just...wow.
  4. I personally always recommend a full set of Multistrikes in damage aura's. The set bonuses are nice, and unlike most AOE sets you get maximum end reduction.

Using Multistrikes makes it much less painful to 'set it and forget it'.

And as people have mentioned: Aura's do a LOT of damage.

With Combat Jumping on, your movement goes from 41.3 mph to 47.2 mph with the Radial boost. I doubt you will even notice that.
Oh, I notice. When I first slotted up the SRP and took the toon for a spin, I was as pleased as punch with how jiffy-quick it was.

    Quote:
You're sacrificing a purple set worth of recharge for a bit of movement speed.
And for me, that's totally worth it. Seriously, this is the first toon I'm ever slotting purples in: I think they're totally a waste, but I have all the things laying around, I might as well use them. The PVP non-damage triples make them much more attractive in my book.

    Quote:
RTTC's to-hit debuff is only 3.75%. Critters higher than you will resist some of that. AV's resist more. A +4 AV resists 85% of it, and only takes a 0.56% to-hit debuff from it.
Sure, but it only takes half that 3.75 to hit 45 percent vs S/L. Good enuff in my book, since it's nacked up by a hefty chunk of regen. Not to mention all the Incarnate buffages.

So, what Destiny slot should I take? Totally stumped there....

I'm not even sure what the best DPS chain is for MA.
Me either, but I don't particularly care. In actual play on teams, ideal attack chains mean diddly-squat.

Gladiator's 3% defense is expensive. You can easily get by without it.
True, but I have three in my base and I'm feelin' guilty about not usin' them SOMEWHERE. This is a no-holds-barred rebuild, so why not? In complete honesty, I'm doing this whole project on crap I have layin' around, the ONLY thing I'm looking to farm/buy are a couple of Enzymes. Yeah, it's cheesy, but if the Dev's are not gonna fix it.....

Use Reactive Armor instead of Aegis. Fire and cold damage are rare.
    You talked me into it!

Gaussian's is a waste of 6 slots when going for typed defenses. Only S/L and E/N are important, so you basically get 2.5% defense (1.25% S/L + 1.25% E/N) for 6 slots.
    ...ok. Moving those slots about....

    Quote:
If you drop your defense to 32.5% S/L and E/N you will have more room for recharge bonus and make it easier to achieve perma-Hasten. You aren't soft capped in your current build, so all of that defense from 32.5% and above is wasted when you use a small defense inspiration.
Uh, no. This is meant as the chassis for a full I_20 build, with all five available incarnate slots running full tilt. Also, forget not the -to hit debuff in RttC.

    Quote:
Is there a reason why you took the Spiritual Radial Paragon instead of Core?
I like the buff to leaping. Super Jump is an excellent move power, and CJ with plenty of boosts is excellent mission mobility.

    Quote:
    Heightened Senses is underslotted.
I'm takin' out the Gaussian as fast as I can!

Ok, tinker complete.... I say, I rather like this. Good calls!

With the RttC boost this hits old soft cap for S/L now even before the Inc buffs stack on. (glee!) I even managed to squeeze on 2.5 percent more recharge! The only thing that makes me sad is losing the Force feedback proc in Dragon Tail, I was looking forward to seeing how that worked..... I was thinking perma hasten with it. Oh, well!

It's got between 20 and 40 percent less defense numbers than the one I put up....

  11. This thread makes me laugh.

    Everybody's so TOUCHY. LOL!!

That said, I wish they'd add a feature to the AE ticket vendors, that you could buy common salvage exactly like the uncommon and rare stuff. Maybe make it 20 tickets per piece.

I would LOVE that. Seriously, love.

    Wow.

    A 60 percent heal every 17-20 seconds on a WAY soft-capped toon?

    That's....impressive.

Oh, wait, no they don't have either of those. Energy armor has BOTH of those features, in the same power!

How many SR or SD builds cram in Aid Self as a sop to their utter lack of healing abilities?

Energy is DIFFERENT. That by no means makes it WORSE.

Even on SO's shield defense gives you better damage, similar defense values, more resistance, and bonus health. Even on SO's Super Reflexes gives you faster recharge and more defense debuff resistance.
Even on SO's Energy gives you an infinite well of endurance and a flowing tap of hit points as required. Those things are not without merit.

As an aside I am interested in seeing Test Rat's 'keep its softcap down to level 20' build, though.
Well, I'm not Test Rat, and I have no idea how this exemp's, but here's a build I todded together recently. I was inspired by the uber-elude thread in the scrapper forums, and was shooting for Apex softcap. With Dark Obliteration in the mix, I got pretty close.

  14. No replies? I must be on the right track, then

After pondering a bit, here's a version that's meant for a true old-school buzzsaw. This is only viable if the Incarnate damage proc is appreciable. If that is the case, then the attack chain becomes SK/Box/Mu, as fast as any of them pop up, with SK/Mu the preferred elements.

It's an odd build, but I think may be I_20 viable. We shall see.

  15. Hello, folks!

Ok, I've got a fairly tooled-up MA/wp toon that has not been respecced into inherent fitness yet.

I was holding off until the Incarnate system was half-done, so I'd have an idea what to work toward.

I am looking for softcap vs S/L or melee as the foundation, 30+ vs all else, and more AOE attacks than martial arts can provide alone.

Dragons Tail is a must, obviously, but I don't think the Judgement thing is going to give enough extra AOE to make too much of a difference. So, lookin' at Mu for Ball Lightning.

Given that Interface adds a set amount of proc damage/debuff per attack, I'm strongly leaning toward dropping Eagle Claw and going with a rapid-fire buzzsaw attack chain, like in the old-school days. Man, dropping EC hurts bad, but storm kick/mu bolts as an attack chain with procs on is looking pretty tasty right now.

Most likely I'll get the Lore pet as the Seer, for the untargetable buffbot.

The Incarnate wild card is then what Destiny buff to get? I totally have no idea. Suggestions welcome.

Completely unlimited budget on this one. Go wild, sky's the limit.

I'm not simply looking for a build here. I'm more looking for peoples thoughts on how to plan and design toons integrating the Incarnate abilities as deeply as possible into the build. IE, can you skimp on big slow hitters for damage if Interface pulls up fast attacks to match? Can you skimp on recharge if you plan to use the Alpha Spiritual? Yet I still want a build that's an adequate performer while exemped, all the way down if possible.

(BTW, Spiritual Radial Paragon is and remains the Alpha choice for me. I use superleap, you see.)

So, let's hear some ideas folks! Below is a sample build, with the idea that it will be using all five Incarnate slots at this point.

If you want a dedicated farmer that does nothing else well, stick with a brute: In their narrow niche they are superb at what they do. If you want a toon that will do just about anything you want it to do, fire tank is by FAR the better choice.

How does fire do with the rest of the "end-game" content? I know it has the rather huge Psi hole.

    Thanks much!
How much are you willing to invest?

My Fire/Fire/Energy does whatever I want.

    Main tank the ITF? Sure.

    Herd the Patrons? Sure.

    Tank LR? Sure.

    Main Tank Tin Mage? Sure.

    Main Tank Apex? Sure.

Run farm maps like a John Deere? Sure.

Exemp down and still destroy everything in the way? Sure.

With the recent Alpha slot, Fire got a big boost. If you invest in it, the toon will not disappoint.

I recommend getting a concept and a costume you like. I find it helps.

    And have fun!

Dark obliteration should get you there vs most things, and gloom helps a lot against single hard targets. If that's not sufficient, then find a couple of slots and six slot the gaussians, although I didn't really sweat it.

So is this sort of like getting Shield Defense to the Apex softcap? That's fairly difficult, though doable.
SD does not have a self-heal or end power, and this gets both in the same package, assuming Mids is right.

That, yes, and the heal/end recovery power on a seventeen second timer. It's not a STRONG heal by any stretch, but hey, it's SOMETHING. Plus it's not in the least gimped on damage, either.

The worst issue is the brutal end burn, but, there is that huge end drain power every seventeen seconds....

    Surprising. Hmmm.....
  19. All this talk about super reflexes and elude got me thinking about the OTHER defense-based set.

    No, not Ice.

I tossed this build together in about 20 minutes, it's prolly full of issues, but the numbers look.... Surprising.

I may have to look into one of these.

    Heh.

    MoG has a rooting animation. It's a design/balance decision.

And, yes, the bad guys do deserve a little warning.

    Oh no he didn't!

Ok, doin' good so far, keep it steady!

FM/wp is a tremendous performer on a brute, you have chosen wisely.

However, fire breath is kind of a dog. The animation time is reeeeaally long. Fire Sword Circle is a much, MUCH better attack.

    Six slot your attacks.

Pyre mastery is good, but soul mastery is better. (Gloom and dark obliteration are your friends.)

...ok, there's too much. Since you tossed in the OMG Panacea, I'm assuming you have resources, so here:

  22. Ya know, John, you're giving me conniptions, here.

I don't terribly like SR, I feel it's a tad squishy. The only SR toon I have is an old, OLD MA/sr concept toon that dates from before Issue 1. I hardly ever play her, and was going to move her to a 'deep storage' server the next time there's a free transfer.

    However.

I hate the glow of super speed. Yet I love running real fast.

This build would make a reasonably tough SR that runs at SEVENTY FIVE MILES an HOUR.

    Without combat suppression.

    Argh!

Now, I'm seriously thinking about gutting the toon, renaming, and building this instead on the chassis.

    Soooo..... Gooooood......

    (sigh)

    This old chestnut again?

If you run tip missions, for example, S/L is awesome. Steer for carnies, avoid malta. All level 50 content resists something well, learn your enemies and maximize your abilities.

I ran my Kat/WP on a +3/+8 Council mish last night and I was only hitting some of the mobs for maybe 180 with Golden Dragonfly outside of Build-up and crits. That's not even talking about the robots that heavily resist lethal. Urg.
    ...which mobs, exactly? War Wolves?

If only War Mace had better models and Brutes got crits lol.......
Heck, I wish all the weapon sets would get some new models. New axes, new maces, new swords, new daggers. Come on, how hard is it to kit-bash some new looks? How about glowing weapons? Transparent ones? Animated ones?

I want an axe with the "gear head' look of the Nemesis Staff, for example. Maybe I'd finally make my elec/axe steampunk brute-bot I've been pondering for so long.
  24. Heh.

Took sixteen hours for a scrapper to beat it?

That's freakin' crazy. I never got past the first spawn on the first one.
  25. I have been struck by a sudden thought. (Yes, unusual, I know.)

When I have participated in TT's, it seems the folks there usually just run whatever TF's strike their fancy. (And utterly dominate them, eight tankers are surprisingly deadly.)

However, given the old-school awesome of the Wedding Band 'temp' power, why not make it a habit to run Stephanie Peebles' level 20 arc in Oro as part of Tanker Tuesday?

It's a nice little arc, several crunchy kill-all's, and after the arc you can get a Wedding Band from Mrs. Peebles, which is +30 resist all for a whopping two hours of game time. It lasts as long as a jetpack!

Stack that sucker on your elec/, fire/, or dark/!

Just a suggestion! The arc also rewards 15(?) merits and usually takes less than an hour to run once you get the hang of it, and the rewards are very, very nice.
