  1. ElectroBlaster, did you go into the Badges window and claim your Veteran rewards?

I made a Praetorian character last week, and as expected, I got over 25+ badges at the screen load, including Veteran badges. Of course, those don't do much until you go in the Badges tab and claim them for the temp powers, etc.
  2. When you say double shields, do you mean each Protector Bot casts one instance of the same shield on the other bots? Or does each Protector Bot have two types of shield powers? I think that's the part that confuses me. Sounds like you're saying it's two instances of the same shield power.
  3. Can I follow this up with a couple questions. What are the values of the two shields? (e.g., Mel, Ran, AoE, x%, S/L/F/C/E/N/T/P, x%, etc)

From the City of Data, http://tomax.cohtitan.com/data/power...r.Force_Shield, it shows the following:

    DEF(Smashing, Melee, Ranged, AOE) +75% for 240s [Non-resistable]

Also, it appears the Protector uses a Dispersion Bubble, is that correct?
    http://tomax.cohtitan.com/data/power...persion_Bubble

Although, the data in there doesn't make sense to me:
    DEF(All Types, AOE) +100% for 0.75s [Non-resistable]
  4. Thanks, I didn't think that through, so it would still take additional time to get back to 10/10.

However, what do you mean by credit? I assume you mean they could get an alignment change, they could get 50 merits (if it was their first time or they are a Rog/Vig), or they could get an alignment merit, or any applicable combination.

I still have yet to get an A-merit, but I think I understand how it works generally, so help me out if I'm not making sense.
  5. so would it be possible then for a team of 8, each of which is 10/10 and each of which has a Morality Mission, to do 8 in a row and get 8 merits? Or is there a timer built into the reward?
  6. Haven't tried yet, but can a team all earn A-merits from re-affirming alignment when completing someone's morality mission?

E.g., 2 players have 10 Villain Alignment Points. One player has a Morality Mission. Both players complete the mission and the other Villain has Collaborative Missions: Enabled.

Do both of them get an alignment merit?
  7. Along with Chaos Creator's point, I think the price histories disappeared one or two times as well. That caused some prices maybe to be lowered, but probably overall caused inflation on more common items.
  8. The results of a survey might be a little misleading because currently players can remain in an instance indefinitely, logging hours until the server goes down. And back in the olden days, there was no time-out period, so people would sometimes just go to sleep with our characters staying logged in.
  9. If I'm at work and want to check for name availability, is there a way I can do that without connecting through the cohupdater?
  10. Did this change at some point? I thought Fire Control > Hot Feet didn't require Accuracy in PvE, but it seems that it has a 75% Acc setting in Mids and on http://tomax.cohtitan.com/data/power...ntrol.Hot_Feet

    Is that correct?
  11. I think the global channel is "N P C" without underscores:

Join / be invited to the N P C global channel

You can join that channel by typing: /join N P C
  12. Like a lot of MMOs, it's not really designed to be played linearly. Some of that is for the obvious reason that you will likely team up with other players somewhere else along in the story while some of it is to make sure players don't have to play content to advance to the next level.

Nevertheless, there are stories in the game, sometimes they have to be recreated in your head after the fact, depending on whether you saw that content or not.

For example, there is a guy named Dr. Vahzilok that shows up in a story arc (series of missions). It culminates the story of the Vahzilok enemy group, which caps out around level 20. You could just level up past 20 and never encounter him, but he is part of a linear story related to Vahz. Of course, even after you defeat him, you can still encounter the Vahz in low level zones.

After you reach L25 you can go to Ouroboros (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Ouroboros), which gives you the option to "flashback" and discover a lot of content you might have missed. It's a clever game mechanic, it is as if you actually did the stuff and are just re-entering a previous time stream.

You can find more information on the backstory here:
    http://www.cityofheroes.com/game_info/history/
    http://www.cityofheroes.com/game_info/story/
    http://www.cityofheroes.com/game_info/geography/
    http://www.cityofheroes.com/game_info/contacts/
    http://www.cityofheroes.com/game_inf...our_adversary/

I'd read them maybe roughly in that order. It gives you context. It's hard to make it more immersive, partially because you are not really the focal point of the game, you are a participant in it.

Also, you may end up with Souvenirs (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Souvenir) that will give you a breakdown of what you did.

    Hope that helps!
  13. Syntax42, I can't download Mids and access it while at work and looks like http://tomax.cohtitan.com/data/power...etype.php?at=3 doesn't have Electricity Control updated yet. Or maybe I missed it.

Local_Man, thanks good explanation. For some reason paragonwiki has CA accepting Damage enhancements, http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Electric...onductive_Aura, maybe for PvP? Thanks for clearing it up for me, though. It's too bad it doesn't for someone like me, but like you mentioned with Sleep powers it could come in pretty handy. I'm pretty familiar with Hot Feet (have a 50 Fire/FF Controller from I1 days), but haven't even messed with Elec at all yet.

Any stats on its base +reg and +rec, though? Maybe someone that has access to the game could check? If someone has a link, that would be great too.

    Cheers!
  14. Can anyone give me a breakdown of the stats on Fire Control: Hot Feet and Electric Control: Conductive Aura?

I assume CA is not very damaging, but curious as to the DPS or damage per tick and the tick rate, etc. versus Hot Feet.

    From paragonwiki:
Conductive Aura: Toggle: PBAoE, Foe -End, Self +Rec, +Regen
Hot Feet: Toggle: PBAoE, Minor DoT(Fire), Foe -SPD, Self -Fly

Also, what are people's thoughts on Conductive Aura right now? Is it any good? Assuming the Controller could survive all the damage being in Melee, would it be worth it? What about if it were combined with another Conductive Aura by another player?

    Thanks!
  15. Here's a rough stab:

Hero: (Lawful Good) Believes in the law. Preserves the status quo. Serves the ruling class within the contraints of the system. Obeys the laws. Sometimes this leads to bad things happening to good people, but honesty and integrity prevent circumventing the system.

Vigilante: (Chaotic Good) Believes in justice over law. When the law is ineffective or doesn't provide a just outcome, the vigilante will intervene. Concerned about others and sometimes will take risks to make good things happen to bad people when justice requires it.

Rogue: (Chaotic Evil) Believes in the law of the individual (do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law). Concerned less about effects on others than effects on oneself. More like to destroy. Less concerned with systems than with personal gain.

Villain: (Lawful Evil) Tries to overthrow the status quo and implement a new system. Typically, it would involve putting oneself at the head of a new system, or at least able to prosper under a new system. Rule-based, just not the rules of the existing ruling class.

Often villains are portrayed as morally bad, but of course, that doesn't have to be the case. The American revolutionaries were evil to the British. Sometimes Good and Evil are relative to which side you are on, but Chaotic v Lawful is based on whether you conform to the rules in the system or go outside them.

Without more, you Corruptor sounds like she could be a Vigilante as well, she "doesn't feel that the rigid hierarchy and stiff application of rules in the militias give just outcomes" as opposed to "motivated by personal gain to do whatever feels right and good to me personally."
  16. I would also really like to see the Sonic Resonance set proliferated to MMs. I didn't see any evidence of any proliferation in I19, but it would be nice if we got at least one proliferation to each AT.
  17. Chiming in that I also got it recently (within last two-three weeks). I also did the Virgil Tarikoss SF, which helped with LT credit. Before that I ran some flashbacks, including Carpe Diem and Loa Bane (sounds right). I was running OBs anyway, but was conscious to set my +NxN to get more LTs.

I was sorta nervous about 2/3 (guesstimate) of the way through, thinking, what if it doesn't count. I think I was a Vig at the time, but became a Villain before I earned it, so I felt like maybe those defeats as a Vig weren't counting. I think it's just that it's hard to estimate in your head how many in a mob are LTs and how many LTs you actually defeated.
  18. Thanks for posting, I'll hold on to that spreadsheet, but it's not the one I was looking for.

This one basically allowed you to compare your chance to hit and damage percentages against an enemy. There were other aspects to the sheet, but it would determine the enemy's Def and your Acc, buffs, and Dmg to determine how likely you were to hit and how much damage. Or something like that
  19. See also: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Defense

    "Defense Tags and Stacking

Defense bonuses carry tags as well, to specify what styles of attack they work against. Each Defense bonus applies only versus attacks whose tags match one or more of its own. There is one additional type of Defense bonus called Base Defense, or DEF(Defense), which applies against all attacks regardless of tagging.

Every time an attack is made against a target, the game checks the target's total Defense bonus against each of the attack's tags separately. Once the game has those separate totals, it uses only the best one in its calculations that determine whether the attack hits. The important result of this rule is that, for any given attack, Defense buffs only stack when they all have one of that attack's tags in common.

Example: Deflection Shield gives a Defense bonus against Melee Attacks, Smashing Attacks, and Lethal Attacks. Glacial Armor gives a Defense bonus against Energy Attacks and Negative Energy Attacks. A Tanker with both these buffs is ambushed by a nasty Council Vampyri who tries to hit her with Siphon Life. That power is tagged as a Negative Energy Attack and a Melee Attack. Our Tanker will only be protected by one of her two Defense buffs. Lucky for her, it will be whichever is larger."

But if you read the whole article, you will find that there are some, probably only minor, benefits to having positional and target Def types separately; if it were a matter of spending millions to get those bonuses, I personally wouldn't.
  20. Yeah, looks like it was actually Arcanaville that did the Def / TH guide, but those links seem broken too... I found some descriptive stuff on cityofheroes.wikia.com, but was hoping for the spreadsheet version, although I can put the formulas in a spreadsheet myself I guess.
  21. I remember back in the day, someone, maybe Iakona, had developed a spreadsheet where you could input some information, like Def, TH, Villain level, etc and come up with some percentages, like chance to hit, dmg %, etc.

Is there something like this still around? Did a quick check of paragonwiki and titan, but didn't find anything.

    Thanks
  22. Well, let me clarify. I *think* they stack on the team. I'd have to pull up Combat Attribs to verify that though.
Yes, you can only have one, but if you are in a team of 8 people, and everyone is running a Vet Pet, I think the team receives multiple bonuses, one from each pet.

Looking at paragonwiki: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Assemble...mbat-Buff_Pets, it reads: "Give a buff to the owner (see buffs below)". So maybe it doesn't stack on a team. Hmm, that's not what I was thinking they did, though.
  23. Do the 48 Month Vet Pets buff each other's Def and Res? I know they stack on players, but do they help each other out as well? I guess in particular for the Def, it would make them harder to be defeated during gameplay if they had stacked Def.

    Is Caleb broken?

Thanks to Master-Blade, I was able to get the HellBane badge for Caleb. He's been able to spot him before, and fought some NSDs solo until the timing was right. There seem to be five problems with Caleb that make it harder to get than others:

    1. He is stealthed. So things like Focused Accuracy, Tactics, popping Yellows, might help to find him
    2. He flies fast, and continues moving
    3. He can fly high, making it harder for ground toons to find him
    4. He may already be spawned (I also think he doesn't despawn like the official info states)
    5. He can be in areas outside of the vidiotmaps listed spawn locations (at least I've read reports of that on the forums)

I think I will try sometime after I become a Redsider again to try to spawn him again, just so I can learn how. MB did it all and wasn't until after he found Caleb that I got to the scene of the crime.
  25. I was on the same CoP as Supreme Soviet. We had some initial disconnects and problems getting all the teams in the base, but I think that was an two people who had connection problems, not an organizational thing.

Then we had one team that defeated a Psionic Resonator too soon before anyone else, but after it reset we did it in a synchronized fashion.

The fight against the Aspect of Rularuu was a big lag fest, but his health went down superfast, in two rounds of combat. I was so lagged during the intervening Rularuu invasion, I could barely target and fire.

Thanks everyone that participated and especially Venu Sovereignty for the great raid, I don't get much time online these days and it was real nice to be included in an event like this.
