You forgot Galactor and Kaatrina.

Don't forget suppression for being attacked (lol) or using heals (lol) or Kins not granting unsuppressed movement (lol) or Sonics being complete garbage (lol).\
In short, they completely gutted the usefulness of two fairly common powersets and an entire AT (anyone remember when Defenders were actually good?) in order to make everything more fun for everyone. Unfortunately the side effects were making everything less fun for just about everyone except the bad people who get kills now and again and think they're good because the system dumbs everyone else down to their level. -
It's odd like that... I guess since negative damage isn't widely resisted in PvE they gave is a 15% chance to fire versus 20% (standard), 30% (PvP proc against player targets), or 33% (purple proc). Different people running the show then.

Hopefully it'll run parallel to the Windows version, though I'll admit I'm worried about the effects Ultra Mode will have. Of course, my MacBook's GMA 950 is technically unsupported, so I won't be terribly helpful checking graphics functionality on the Mac side (I have the desktop running Windows 7 as well, which should help pick out any weird issues on Vista/Win7 systems).

Quote:In other words, you went into a PvP zone and got attacked by other players. That sounds like "working as intended" to me. Fact is, every time anyone goes into a PvP zone, they're consenting to PvP and they're essentially painting a giant target on their backs. If you want to go into a PvP zone for non-PvP activites, you're better off doing it at an hour when most people would be offline. To run down your list:Those may be *your* experiences, but *my* experiences include the following:
- Players attacking without provocation (I don't initiate combat);
- Players refusing to take "I'm not a PvPer, I'm just here for badges" for an answer;
- 8-person team attacking me;
- Players attacking me because they're bored;
- Players teleporting me into drones;
- Players watching me try to run away from a PvPer, then killing my character when I try to get around them;
- Players watching me whittle down an NPC, then killing my character just before I got the kill shot -- so they could steal the xp, etc.;
- Players invis'd behind me, who wait till I finish fighting an NPC, then Assassin Strike my character while she's resting;
- General jerkish behavior and the "obligatory", "Oh! I *thought* I was in a PvP zone" garbage.
- Players attack without provocation because they can, and they don't know if you pose a threat to them or not. Since they don't know for sure, they must assume you do, so they take steps to ensure you don't become a problem.
- You're not a PvPer, but you're there for the badges. If you need the badges or temp powers, come back at a time when things are less busy, or just try to blitz them (run to the badge, run back to the base, doesn't take more than a few minutes, and the less idle time you spend doing so the less likely it is you'll be attacked).
- See first bullet - the other team doesn't know if you're on a team or not. You might be bait for your other as-of-yet-unseen teammates. If not, you're an easy and immediately presentable kill. Solution: get your own team.
- Sounds like that PvP thing again. They're in the zone to PvP, they're bored, you're a target.
- Don't get within TP Foe range of a drone or bring oranges. Simple solutions.
- Stay away from those people, as you never know if someone in the zone is going to attack you or not.
- Odds are you'll be caught off-guard when they attack you and you probably won't have full health. Those are two conditions that are like bright flashing lights to a PvPer looking for targets. Solution: always stay alert.
- Don't rest in an unsafe area, especially if you're not sure if there's something around. Go back to your base to rest, or find a hidden corner or rooftop or something.
- Sorry, but those "this is a PvP zone" people are right. You might not like being attacked by other players, but that's what the zone is intended for and you can't really fault them for using it as intended. If you don't want to engage in PvP your options are to either avoid those zones entirely or to go at a time when activity is lessened.

Quote:I've seen the people who do play this game because it doesn't have a real PvP base. Many of them are incredibly stupid when it comes to mechanics and tactic, barely capable of intelligent communication, and wont to whine at the slightest change to the way their powers work because they want everything to be incredibly easy and can't figure out how to play a more-challenging game.I've seen the people that don't play this game because it doesn't have a real PvP base. Most of them went to Champions, and I can honestly say this game is better off without them. They are a bunch of obnoxious ***holes.
See what I did there? -
Quote:You've obviously never PvP'd on a Rad or Storm, or been on the receiving end of Power Boosted Flashfire in an arena match (or, for that matter, get mezzed and be dead before it wears off). At least under the old rules you could actually do something about being mezzed - now you've just got to hope it wears off soon enough or hope your teammates are fast enough on their heals to keep you alive.The new mez system strikes a nice balance between making them useful but not overpowering.
The I13 changes suck - a lot (case in point: they were designed to let PvEers and less experienced PvPers compete on an even footing but all that happened was the high end got lopped off, the target audience tried it once or twice and didn't come back, and the remaining higher-end players are forced to play handicapped even against each other) - but the only reason I continue to PvP is because it's unpredictable and PvE is incredibly dull and boring. -
Let me know when they fix the placate bug that's been around since Issue 6, then you can complain about a single mission in an arc and a handful of missions in a TF (level 40 PPE's against a team of 35s is not particularly hard, they just take a while to kill) not being fixed for three issues.
-
Mind/Fire/Mace is still probably best, but a case can be made for Fire/Elec/whatever, as Flashfire is a nasty long stun and if you can't kill something during the 8+ seconds they're mezzed you might have issues.

Mind/Emp, Fire/EM, Mind/Storm, Rad/Therm, Elec/WP Stalker, Earth/NRG, Necro/Poison, Thugs/Pain, and so on and so forth.
Also, happy new year everyone! -

That was one of the two good parts about test (the other being the ability to fight anyone from any server) - you didn't need to spend lots of time or inf tweaking your build, most of the time IOs were just copied over. When you were fighting the best of the best (whether that was in team matches or duels), you had the best gear to work with, because everything was so competitive. That was never the case on the live servers, and it was implied in PvP on the live servers that everyone put in the effort to IO and accolade their characters themselves (whether that's entirely true or not is a different matter, but that's the general idea).

This is the one I've been using for a while. When Cloaking Device suppresses it's just short of the softcap but when you're on a team that's hardly going to be a concern. AoE defense is a bit lacking but I figured again teammates will help with that, and most NPC attacks aren't AoEs anyways.

"Softcap" is a term which applies to the amount of defense you need to cause an enemy to have their minimum chance of hitting you. An even-con minion has a 50% chance to hit you, and the minimum hit chance of any (non-autohit) power is 5%, so the "softcap" in that case would be 45% (50 - 45 = 5). Enemies of higher levels or ranks get accuracy bonuses (as opposed to tohit bonuses, which are more powerful) and so they will have slightly higher chances of hitting you at that 45% softcap, but adding more defense past that 45% is a waste unless you are fighting enemies that:
* Have tohit buffs
* Have defense debuffs (not so much a worry for SR, but somewhat of a concern for Ice, Shield, and EA characters or non-defense-based builds with +def from IO bonsues)
* Are more than 7 levels above you (very rare occurrence especially with the new SK system) -
Fire/Regen, MA/Regen, BS/Regen. Debatable whether Fire or MA is better for zone PvP but IMO Fire is the winner. If you've got a Fire/Elec Blaster, those can be workable as well but you're definitely going to want to make a second build for PvP. As usual, build for +HP (as much as you can, really), +recharge (DR starts to hit it in the 30-50% range), and some +damage. +Acc is nice as well but not quite so necessary if you're running Tactics or Focused Accuracy (you should be on just about any PvP character).
-
I've got an Ice/Cold Corr but there's no way I'm going to spend the money to IO it when the same investment in a different character would give much better results.
-
Quote:So 1) you let the baddos in the zone get to you, and 2) you didn't team up with a group of competent players for an arena match. That's not a problem with Freedom, that's a problem with bad players.I left freedom because the community there seems to take PvP far too seriously. I don't mind trash talk, I do it all the time. However, being PMed with "**** you n- *******"
or "You're a f*ing ***" crosses the line into personal attacks.
Really isn't what I was looking for in a PvP community.
You must not be on the same time we are on. Fiteclubs rarely, if ever happen and teaming happens a great deal because we are a smaller group.
Who do you play on Virtue?
Regarding Virtue: every time I've brought my Stalker into RV there since free transfers started, it was either a group of villains camping one or two heroes (usually Scrappers or Tankers) at the hero base, or fiteklub under the statue or by the hospital in the northern part of the zone. Not one time I've been in there has there been actual organized PvP. -
Only time I can see it being worthwhile is if you're really close to hitting 41 points of KB protection and have a slot to spare.
-
Quote:I think this would be more of an issue if people actually played those anymore. Nevertheless I've kind of stopped caring about getting things fixed because I know it's going to either 1) never happen; 2) happen so far down the road that I won't be around anymore; or 3) end up being I13 2.0.I'm pretty sure they didn't fix Forts/Windows's mez protection toggles yet (Imdom Will)
When they fixed Mez powers suppressing knockback protection in mez protection toggles, they seems to have skipped over Fortunatas/Windows. So yes, you can mez them and toss them around like a cat in a sack.
