Quote:Elec Armor's a bit odd... it's kind of an in-between between sets with knockback protection and sets without. Sets with toggle or click KB protection get 10,000% knockback resistance on top of their 10 points of knockback protection, which means that aside from unresisted knockback (Rikti UXB explosions and one of the Warburg nukes are the only such powers in the game, I think) you will never get KB'd as long as you have the power active. In addition, the knockback protection comes in the same power as the rest of the set's status protection. Elec's knockback and immobilize protection comes in a separate power than its other status protection, but it's always on. As a tradeoff, Grounded gives you about 15 points of knockback protection, but no knockback resistance, and only works when you're on the ground (the immob protection is always on). While this is fine for normal PvE as many players don't move during combat let alone jump, it can be annoying for jumpy players. As long as you stay on the ground, though, the number of NPC-used powers that can KB you through Grounded can probably be counted on one hand. However, this idea is somewhat debunked with Electrical Armor (Though DA definitely has far more AoE powers).
Personally, I don't have a problem with the KB hole in Fire and Dark (Elec if you PvP or do Hami raids; and why does everyone always forget Ninjitsu when they talk about sets without KB protection?), as it's very easily countered in five ways:
1. Team with a Kin that has Increase Density (9 points of protection for 60 seconds)
2. Bring along Break Frees (5 points of protection for 30 seconds)
3. Get Acrobatics (9 points of protection, enhanceable to 11, for as long as you have endurance to run it)
4. IOs - Steadfast and Karma give 4 points of protection each for one slot and only cost a few million inf (your 50 should have this lying around as pocket change, buy one and give it to the lowbie); Kinetic Crash gives 3 points of protection for 4 slots in any knockback power and is incredibly cheap if you're patient (again with the 50 if you're not); Blessing of the Zephyr gives 4 points of protection for one slot but is generally not worthwhile in PvE because of its cost; some PvP IO sets give 3 points of protection for a certain number of slots (3 or 4, generally) but they are prohibitively expensive
5. Base empowerment buff - 10 points of protection for one hour, for the cost of the salvage required to craft it
For probably 90% of PvE, 3 or 4 points will get you by just fine. If you find yourself lead alpha taker on teams fighting mobs such as Council, you might want 8-12. Things like Hami raids are going to want 13+, and so on. 13+ points (Acro and an IO, basically) will stop every NPC power but a handful. For those who don't want to spend inf on the IOs or don't want to craft the buff every hour, or don't have a Kin friend, why not just take Acro? There are very few builds in this game that don't have room for an extra power pick, SJ is possibly the best travel power in the game in terms of speed and maneuverability, and Combat Jumping provides the best level of in-combat movement, not to mention extra immobilize protection. -
Probably a billion a week, drop-dependent of course.

Anything will work provided you play it smart and use inspirations, accolades, etc... Stone is probably your best bet for a secondary given your criteria though most of the RSFs I've done lately have had either a /Fire or /Shield as the lead (or only) Brute and there's zero issue, though those teams are usually stacked and filled with people who know what they're doing.

There hasn't really been lots of active PvP in this game since before Issue 13, though both Freedom and Virtue were at least somewhat busy until recently. We've had free server transfers for the better part of a month now, so much of the remaining PvP population has migrated to Freedom.

Think I hit Jaws for about 300 damage on the initial tick (this is before the DoTs, not counting procs, not in Scourge range) on a debuffed squishy. Of course that's not the norm but it's kind of sad when a patron attack does more damage than pretty much your entire primary.

That, and I think the DR curves are different, and in RV most squishies are running shields on top of the base PvP resistance.

Grats again to Ra and Dex, thanks to Toona for putting up the prizes, and thanks to just about everyone for the lolz in /ac when it was all over.

It's sad.
Oh and on topic
If I had a dime for every time Milan and Poned transferred characters to Justice and got beat, I'd have one dime. -
You are going to want to export the datachunk, that link doesn't actually work.

DM is okay, SR can kinda-sorta work if you build for a lot of ranged defense and recharge to have Elude up often. Problem is SR is entirely defense-based and has no "tricks" a la Ninjitsu (Blinding Powder, the self-heal, etc.) which means if you start taking hits when you're trying to get back into hide you're gonna have to hope you have teammates to get people off your back, or you'll have to phase.

Quote:*shrug*Just saying Mac, I thought that most of the people who post on these forums would be grown up and act mentally and emotionally mature. Not a bunch of whiney cut throat children. I may not post a lot but I have always kept track and read the forums and I have a lot of respect for you, but I had hoped you could be one of the mature people on these forums.
We're not the ones backing someone who claims an flying TPing AR/Dev Blaster can be competitive (and then saying "oh but I don't actually play one of those"). No one here's been whining, no one here's been cut-throat except for maybe a few players who seem to have it out for each other (that happens, y'know). As far as I can tell, this thread has been Dahjee coming in and saying "PvP is bad because you are all closed-minded, and you should all play this way," when "this way" has been tried and doesn't work well, at all. Maturity only goes so far in dealing with stupid people. If you can't understand that I'm sorry. Quite honestly I don't care about your opinion of me, nor anyone else's, so if you're trying to make me feel bad by insulting me, you should probably find a better use of your time (like coming up with alternative strategies that might actually work instead of theorycrafting when everyone else with experience is telling you it's been tried and doesn't work). -
forum police weee ooooooh weee ooooooh
EDIT: oh and pvp actually has a bad rep because the majority of this game's players are tards and don't want to thiiiiiiiiink -

Was in Justice RV for a while today while waiting for the rest of my teammates to grab Shivans for an RSF... good times. Sentry4 and some of the Balmont crew were all there, and two of us had 'em locked up in their base. Eventually a few switched to Blasters to try and nuke my pets, so I suppose it was a win-win... they'd drain their endurance and then I'd kill them faster.
-
Just by slotting the SR powers, you are also enhancing the DDR they provide. I didn't quite fully slot the passives on my DM/SR, so I'm sitting at about 91-92% DDR, but that's still significantly higher than other defense-based sets are able to achieve on a regular basis.

Bots/Dark, though I'm partial to Thugs/Dark. They're both unstoppable killing machines once you get 'em slotted up and built right.

I would not at all be surprised if 20% of the playerbase produced 80% of the max-level stuff on the market right now.

Quote:I have probably a half-dozen characters over on test with capped merits from the I16 closed beta. ((9999/20)*6)= about 3000 random rolls. I'll take a look if I get some spare time, though I should clarify:Last beta alot of characters were given a ton of merits along with the level bumps. I am sure there are tons of dead merits over on test already if you can get people to go check.
I did say rolling a few times on test wouldn't be a good indication of what you'd get, because rolling only a few times when there are so many recipes in the drop pools wouldn't really give you meaningful results. On a very large-scale test such as this, you'd probably get meaningful data. -
I'm not. Cold/Energy Defender wouldn't be the best dueler but it might do fine as support/disruption - Infrigidate, Benumb, Sleet, Heat Loss, Power Push (the higher-mag version, too, not the piddly version Corrs and Blasters get).
