i guess the people who prefare pvp.2 dont play support toons in pvp. if you do....why ?

    go damage or go home.

    ...

is it just me or does this post contradict itself?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Nope, he's saying that in PvP 2.0, if you prefer playing support characters, you might as well go play something that does damage instead, because you'll be making a more meaningful contribution that way.

The old PvP sucked. It really did.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, you're probably right. Faced-paced combat, ATs that had defined roles, powers that did the same thing they did in PvP as they did in PvE, and the ability of support toons to actually contribute to a team meaningfully other than damage kinda sucked. All the new PvP has done is replace various imbalances with more imbalances, most of which are far worse.

Was old PvP perfect? Heck no - and yet it was one of the best PvP games the MMO market had. There was a nice long list of issues or potential tweaks that would've made it better, but instead of listening to the input and feedback of the people that used the system every day, they decided to completely randomly tack things on and change stuff all willy-nilly, then when the PvPers complained, they said "We're listening and we'll implement your suggestions!" (they didn't).

How about you being back the old style pvp and get rid of this so called GARBAGE pvp system you have now!

    lol

We only lol because it's true.
  4. As much as it should happen (hell it should've happened at I9 launch), I don't think it will. Miladys may not be that far off the mark when he says many people will be driven out of CoV if the markets remain separate - while some people I know prefer CoV over CoH because of the better story arcs and general content (quality over quantity, really), most play CoV because they like the villain ATs. Give them the ability to play those ATs heroside, and... well... you see where this is going.

  6. Yeah that's because toggle KB protection is bugged. If you get hit by a mez that does KB (KO Blow is by far the most common example) it'll simply ignore your KB protection. Two -KB IOs will be enough to stop this effect.
  7. MM pets aren't subject to DR or heal decay. Even with no base resistances and DR curves identical to other low-HP ATs, a Mastermind is still incredibly tough in PvP. The main reason you don't get base resists in PvP is because they expect you to be in bodyguard mode, which is equivalent to more resists than even a squishy gets.

Does the recharge effect how fast VS uses powers, or how fast I can resummon him. Since he is out for a minute, and only has a minute recharge time, then that wouldn't help.

    [/ QUOTE ]
He's not worth slotting for recharge really, not after the pet recharge nerf in I14. However you could still slot him with 4x Soulbound Allegiance for the +HP and +dam set bonuses if you wanted.

I hate G4 for what they did to TechTV. Not debating about Morgan Webb though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I remember G4 when they had some content besides Cops reruns and old movies.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Eh, they killed off The Screen Savers when they merged and everything went downhill from there. X-Play was about the only worthwhile show after a point, and when Charter stopped carrying G4 in my area, I wasn't really sad to see it go.

What an epic thread... what satisfies me most though is the fact that most of us are engaging in a serious discussion about the actions of NCSoft in the last 12 months; and when a red name finally comes in and makes a comment, it's not to address any of the real issues that we have with their decisions. It's a poor attempt at humor that has relatively nothing to do with the majority of the thread.

Thanks for not listening BaBz.... I guess some things never change.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    /sigh.

For what it's worth, Iggy does have a point. I may not agree with how he presents it, but it's valid nonetheless.

Some of us don't like having to role defenders to be dark blasters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Then don't roll them.

[/ QUOTE ]AS soon as dark blast comes to Blasters I won't have to.

[/ QUOTE ]technically you will be able to roll a dark corrupter and switch, they have dark blast and better blast damage than defenders.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Except Corruptors aren't similar to Blasters at all, other than sharing a ranged primary and +400% (500%) damage cap. The whole point of wanting a Dark Blaster is to do Blaster-level damage on the attacks, and to pair it with a Blaster secondary (Dark/EM or Rad/EM would be pretty hot).

For example, I'm putting off making a Trick Arrow character until Corruptors get the set (I want Fire/TA, dammit!) and since the pet nerf in I14 I've been waiting until Cold Domination gets ported to Controllers and Masterminds so I can make my /Storm Troller and MM builds as /Cold.
  12. That's a pretty epic necro. (Especially ironic is the name of the poster responsible. )
  13. Likewise, if you slot that proc in an AoE that has a DoT after the initial damage (see Fireball) it will only check to proc at the initial damage. If you slot it in a pseudopet (see Freezing Rain) it will check at summon and every 10 seconds after, until the power expires.

I understand that some people don't enjoy farming. That's cool, however I do enjoy it. I've just set up my Fire/Kin with a somewhat decent IO build and I have soft capped S/L. Currently, my farm of choice is just AE boss farms with the plethora of S/L damage causers. It's great because it offers great rewards, plenty of deaths, lots of fun and pretty good rewards.

However, I am wondering what the best thing to farm for current dev content is. I would like a chance to earn purples as well as pulling in some recipes and good salvage. I'd prefer a S/L opponent to capitilize on my strengths, so I'm wondering what missions would be good for that. With the recharge and general defense I have, I'm sure I could do most anything, I just wonder what farms people find fun and profitable.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Battle Maiden spawned for 8 is a good choice for a S/L softcapped Fire/Kin (Seismic Smash makes short work of the bosses), but you could also do Freakshow spawned for 6. They deal mostly smash/lethal damage and if you're at the softcap you'll do a good job of avoiding most of the mezzing they like to toss around.
  15. You want Stone epic for the BM farm. Get the Steadfast res/def unique while you're at it - you want to push up your smash/lethal defense as much as you can. You don't need Smoke, Increase Density, or Speed Boost (assuming you are only going to be farming with this build) and you don't need Acrobatics (slot one -KB IO and you'll be fine).
  16. The pet recharge nerf was supposed to fix the quirky AI in pets, including Genin, Jounin, Oni, and Bruiser. Bruiser still likes chucking his rock and the Ninja pets still get stuck in bad attack chains. All I have to show for it is a Lightning Storm that maybe gets off two or three attacks before I move on to the next room (i.e. a giant waste of endurance), a Gun Drone and Voltaic Sentinel (neither of which was particularly impressive) that can't really be improved, and a wasted slot in my MM for the Force Feedback proc. Oh, and my Animated Stone is still acting exactly like a rock. Sometimes he'll follow me around and sometimes he'll just stand there while everything whales on me.
  17. Specifically I think it was armor heals for melee ATs but IIRC Siphon Life had the same treatment. I wouldn't be surprised if they have decay on them now but I always thought it was stupid that self-heals in even the non-melee ATs caused suppression and heal decay.
  18. In-set heals aren't supposed to be affected by heal decay, I thought. If they are, /bug it.

    doh!

Gotta wait for a second costume slot (unlocked at level 10) to make a "civilian" costume. So that's what, 10-15 minutes after making your character?
