DR hits you as soon as you slot enhancements. Yes, you read that right. No, I'm not being sarcastic.
  2. Minotaur's [Fetid Howl] power does -res, as described. However, it also has a small chance to hit you with the [Diseased] power. I think the actual combat text is "Minotaur's Fetid Howl has Diseased you!"

  4. Should've been changed in I15. Are you looking at Mids, or the real in-game numbers? If it's Mids, disregard that since it hasn't been updated since I13 came out.

except it isn't 'something for nothing', it's a lure to get players to try PvP. Think of the drops as a promotional cost.

Rather like 2xp itself, come to think of it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Upping the drop rate of PvP IOs for a short period of time will probably have a negligible impact on the actual PvP zone/arena population - they won't care about anything other than the drops so as soon as the rate goes back to normal they'll leave.

I don't think double XP has any appreciable effect on subscriptions either - people that aren't subbed probably won't re-up for a month just to get two days of double XP. People that subscribe but don't log on often might come on more during that weekend, but if they're already paying for the game, financially it doesn't matter how often they log on (especially now that they're not releasing game-specific subscription and "max players online" stats).

Only if you PuG, and lol @ PuGs. I know the people I'm playing with are perfectly capable of playing their PL'd-to-50 character just as well as someone who leveled it "the hard way."

I don't care if the people I'm teamed with are the best in the entire game.

I'm not afraid of PuGs, but if I'm given the choice between teaming with people whom I know share my playstyle and are competent players, and people who are incapable of even basic communication, I'll take the sure bet.

    (Mmm, sherbet.)

don't worry, the poster removed himself from the league cause appearently it wasn't their style.

Also didn't know why he was referring to a PvPEC event when this isn't hosted by the PvPEC.

anyways it's not an issue now that they're gone.

And you wonder why this game or any game find it hard to attract and keep PvP players. Its not the PvP part itself that people hate, its the childish attitude that comes with it.

I would have signed up for this if I wasn't 100% sure it was going to end up exactly like this, it always does.

If the post still exists, Castle mentioned that he came in around I6 when talking about the changes to Energy Melee. BABs' start date was said by the man himself during a conversation in the Beta Testers global channel during the I15 beta.

I was in the process of moving to Cali to start working at Cryptic on CoH/CoV when my car's engine exploded in Wyoming. I spent about 4 or 5 days in a hotel room playing Issue 7, which had just been released.

That is the only way I know how long I've been working on this game...because of playing Issue 7 in a hotel room in Wyoming.

I've played the game since roughly 2 weeks after launch.

They had internet in Wyoming way back then?

Might try a /Fire Scrapper then. Dark's pretty bad. Otherwise try a Fire or Shield Tanker.

You're rerolling your MA/Regen as an MA/Dark because Regen doesn't have Psi resistance?

Let me save you the time, effort, and frustration... keep the Regen.
  16. Given that PvP IO drops are now tied to rep, perhaps it's time to take another look at the rep system (which was previously only good for earning two badges, as rep really isn't an indicator of skill).

The current problem is that killing someone while the rep timer is on a cooldown actually resets that timer. Additionally, if you did damage to an enemy, and someone else got the kill, you won't be able to get rep off that enemy until that cooldown period is over. Likewise, if they've killed you recently, returning the favor won't get you rep. So here's the proposal, to make rep a bit easier to understand and a bit more reliable for being able to determine PvP drops:

    1. Rep timer is a hard 5-minute timer. Rather than resetting each time you kill that same target, it simply resets five minutes after the first kill.

    2. The rep timer does not start unless you or a teammate gets the kill.

    3. Being killed by, or attacked by, another player will not start your rep timer against them. The only way to start the rep timer is to kill someone.

    PvP IOs and me

    [ QUOTE ]
Macskull: Let's pretend for a moment that the Devs fear the wrath of the playerbase. Let's pretend for a moment that the small number of people farming PVP IO's are a significant part of the playerbase.

Do you really think that the people who posted the fatwa against powerlevellers are really going to try a weak, ineffective ruse to deflect your nerdrage?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Nerdrage? Hardly. I'm just less than convinced that the rewards suddenly stopping when I15 went live was a bug.

Kind of like how I'm less than convinced that unsuppressed movement (SB, IR, etc) in PvP was a bug from issues 4 to 13 (apparently it was). Kind of like how I'm less than convinced that PSW's performance was a bug from issues 6 to 15 (sure it was overpowered, but a bug!?). Kind of like how I'm less than convinced that pseudopets inheriting recharge from the caster was a bug from issues 7 to 14.

Honestly, I don't care that they found a way to kill off PvP IO farms (it's a clever solution, I must admit). I do, however, care that the method they've replaced the old drop system with actually penalizes the "intended" method of PvP and makes the likelihood of getting a drop during normal zone/arena play (which was already low given the nature of those activities) even lower.

In no particular order, speaking from a PvE perspective:

    Devices
    Post-I13 Traps (especially for Corruptors)
    Elec Armor
    Elec Blast (all versions)
    Blaster Psi Blast

And speaking from a PvP perspective:

    Sonic Resonance
    Elec Armor
    Assault Rifle
    Ice Blast (especially Corruptors)
    Traps

ELA is garbage in PvP especially on Stalkers. If you're gonna roll a Stalker, make it WP or Regen.

    PvP IOs and me

    An observation, if I may.

People noted that PvP rewards seemed to have stopped dropping almost as soon as I15 came out. Here's the thing, though - they were dropping during open beta on the test server (I'd know, as I got a Panacea proc as a drop during an 8v8). Remember that tiny little patch two or three days before I15 went live? That was the only patch between when I got my drop and when the issue went live - the fact that PvP rewards weren't happening was not a bug, but a deliberate code change in that patch.

I don't even remember there being patch notes for that patch (which was something like 7MB if I recall).

With how fast people level up during double xp weekend, coupled with how fast people ALREADY level up during AE boss farms, even with PuG's........hmmm.....how in the world will that NOT make their "level too fast" alarms go off?

Maybe like half the toons in the game will get deleted from that weekend.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not the ones that aren't in the AE running exploit missions and powerleveling farms.
So all of mine are safe.

Maybe that's a good enough excuse to run "normal" content for a weekend?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Don't you have anything better to do than bring your carebear [censored] into a PvP forum?

In regards to the OP, it seemed like the cutoff for deletions/bannings was right around 10 hours. I had a character that got 50 in 9 hours deleted but my 11-hour 50 was fine.

    i12 PvP Zone

I support this, and the Fight Night patch is a very good example of how you can bring back something old without impacting the new system (people that want to button will play button, people that want TPC will play TPC - same logic applies to I12/I13 PvP rules).

However, I think the real issue at the heart of this is that in the devs' eyes, in order for there to be PvP rewards, PvP needs to fit their idea of balance. I admit I don't like saying it but it seems to me as though they consider their idea of balance to be more important than the enjoyment of a subsection of the game by an even smaller group of players.
