lolwut? This is just completely, 100% wrong.

Let's put Freakshow up to 1.0 and give a reason for people to fight Malta and Carnies by upping them to 1.1 or 1.2 or something like that.

If you're saying MM's got the short end of the stick when it comes to secondaries, odds are you've never played anything/Dark. Whoever decided MMs should get /Dark was probably tripping on acid or something.

Which map(s) are we looking at, specifically? I'm sure I'd be able to set aside some time to check the numbers here.

Castle has gone on record as saying the developers are not against farming, per se. Powerleveling, maybe... but not farming. Castle did say, however, that they're against people farming because they feel they have to to keep up with everyone else. If you're having fun farming, more power to you.

If I take the snipe it's only for set bonus purposes. I move around too much to make standing in one place for that long a realistic expectation.

Redside, I run the Mender Silos SF. Takes half an hour or so, gives 9 merits, but you need to have a character capable of soloing EBs. If I just need a few quick merits, I run "The Unlucky Artifact" from Hard Case (35-39 range). Including travel and load times I can usually do that one in 2-3 minutes (zone into mission, stealth to end, kill boss), it's worth one merit and gives a badge.

Draw an S... more different S...

Quote:WP is probably the best Stalker secondary at the moment, in regards to PvP at least.im gonna do some sort of broadsword/something but not sure yet, maybe SR. Not a big stalker fan so that'll be my way of gettin into it. I loved broadsword/wp on blue side but i dont think of wp good stalker secondary, but thats just me. so ya.... broadsword/sr i guess.

Amusingly, given meaningful defense through pool powers and set bonuses, Dark Armor becomes one of the more-powerful defensive sets. The buff to Elec Armor should also help that set do well when defense is factored in - even on my live Stone/Elec Brute, I can tell the difference between 0% and 15% melee defense.

Quote:Right around I12 launch, someone brought up the ability to enhance the recharge of Mind Link using Membranes (or def/tohit set IOs with a recharge component). Castle said that was essentially working as intended since they couldn't "fix" that without opening up an entirely new can of worms.I've heard that a before but I've been unable to find where he said it. I'd really appreciate a link so that i can update the wiki.
EDIT: Searched Castle's post history, thread's gone. -
*shrug*
I'd say it depends on 1) what you need, and 2) how long it took you to get those merits. Between the ITF and LGTF I can get 67 merits and it takes just about an hour, sometimes less. If I run the STF and Kahn TF on that same character I can get 127 merits (less if I take the Hami on the STF). Given that I do something like that almost every day, I simply do random rolls because I can do enough rolls to eventually get something good, and it doesn't take me forever to build up my merit stock again.
In the long run you'll make more inf, statistically speaking, if you do a random roll versus buying an IO outright, but that's assuming you roll at max level and that you have simply average luck with your rolls. If it takes you a long time to bank those merits, you can either get what you need or hope you get good rolls. -
Quote:And taking another look at your chart, we see that subs have been on a steady, gradual decline since the "nerf campaign" began. Are the two related? Maybe, maybe not, but you cannot deny that changes to the game have a meaningful impact on subscriptions. The "wild fluctuations" you see in the first half of that chart are due to the "newness" factor - people try the game out, some stay, most don't. Subs go up and then go down. Subs went back up around the time CoV launched in late 2005 and stayed high for a while. It's POSSIBLE, sure, that GR will create another spike in subscriptions like we did with CoV. I think we'll see numbers near, but not above, the old peak. I think we're too old, but you never know.
In almost every expansion I've seen in a MMORPG, the numbers have gone up, sure, but you don't necessarily see a new peak each time.
So, let's humor you, Ace. Let's divide the timeline of this game into a period "before" the campaign you allege started in 2005 at the peak of sub levels.
Strangely enough, if this campaign really existed, it seems to be a stabilizing force. Pre-campaign, the sub numbers had some pretty major twists and turns, while after the campaign, the numbers have stabilized greatly. If you want to move the goalposts further towards the middle or beginning of 2005 rather than right at the end, your argument falls apart even more. Rather than a decline, there are either more subscribers now or at least were for greater amounts of time than there were pre-campaign.
Your chart also does not include the year 2008, during which we saw some of the lowest subscriber numbers since launch. You can take just about any data and put a marketing or PR spin on it to make it seem like there are more subs, but there just aren't as many people playing the game as there used to be. Some of that is just due to age - this game is getting old and there's competition brewing. Some's due to changes in the game or how in-game issues are handled - the I13 PvP changes drove away most of the PvP playerbase, and the I14 MA bans/deletions caused many people to simply give up, not because their characters were deleted, but because the whole thing was just a giant cluster****. I'm willing to believe that the retail prominence of CoX and the Architect Edition box set helped boost sub numbers, but what's going to happen now? Time will tell, I'm sure. -
They're on the standard MM modifiers - the heals are weaker, that's about it.

I like the suggestions put forth here. I've got a few /Elec characters and have been tooling around trying to come up with good builds for them (my Stone/Elec Brute is used for Hami raids and so needs enough KB protection to stop the KB from a yellow mito while I'm off the ground, and needs enough extra HP to keep me alive when things go bad. I built for +HP, +recharge, and +melee defense: his I16 build has somewhere around 1800 HP before accolades, 50% recharge including the 20% from Lightning Reflexes, and roughly 25% melee defense. Factoring in Hasten cycles, Energize should be up every 45 seconds or so.

Pretty much exactly this. In a direct comparison, Defenders don't have enough damage to make their stronger debuffs worthwhile. Between the higher base damage modifier, higher damage cap, Scourge, Fire Blast/Thermal Radiation, and higher base HP (Defs and Corrs have 1017 and 1070, respectively, sharing a cap at 1606), there's really no reason to choose a Defender over a Corruptor unless you really hate redside content (or really want Psi Blast or Force Fields).
-
Defender -> Cold Domination -> Sleet is actually calling the pseudopet for Corruptor's Freezing Rain (debuff values are lower than they should be), I believe.
-
You said you're Stone Mastery - between Weave, Rock Armor, and Combat Jumping you should be off to a good start in softcapping to smash/lethal damage. You'll have 10-15% to make up via IOs but your priorities should be hitting 40-45% s/l defense and adding some recharge.
-
Rad/EM was going to be awesome, then they bumped the recharge times of Neutrino Bolt and X-Ray Beam. Now it'll just be "good." Gonna give Thugs/Therm a try, maybe Earth/Cold as well.
