Ok, fine. Just make them non-transferable. Get them off the market. How much will they motivate you now?
You do realize that making purples bind-on-pickup (as obtained to the quasi bind-on-equip IOs use now, in that you can remove the via respec) will make them more rare, not less, and that it will be harder, not easier, to complete a set that will be useful to your character?

A good rule of thumb is if you can't afford a luxury good (yes, purples are a luxury good, to think otherwise is ludicrous), you don't want it badly enough. This holds especially true in a game where there is essentially an infinite supply of resources (influence/infamy in this case) and making it hand over fist is very easy if you do a bit of research first.

The mez is disruptive enough on its own, but a buffing teammate can help with that (the intent of the revised Hami raid was to require teamwork and participation from more sets, am I right?) - the endurance drain, quite frankly, sucks. I ran my Kat/Regen on a Justice raid tonight and I lost count of the number of times I was detoggled because the chain lightning drained my endurance. When I had 3 or 4 RA's stacked on me it wasn't a big deal, but once those wore off and I only had an SB on top of QR+Stamina, I found myself using MoG as often as it was up in an attempt to keep myself from bottoming out (didn't work so well, I found).

I don't think there would be too many complaints if the power were to remain as-is but with the endurance drain lessened or removed completely. The mez alone ensures that the blues are disruptive but not dangerously so, as some armor sets have built-in fear protection (some sets also have end drain protection, but as I've found from running a raid on my Spines/Dark, even that protection becomes worthless pretty quickly if you've got more than one blue on you, and that's before they chained indefinitely). I suppose the other alternative is to go back to using Blaster teams to poke at the blues until the other mitos are cleared, but that's not really fun for the Blasters and it generally slows the whole raid process down.
  4. Ice is really bad. Go Sonic, Rad, or Fire.
  5. It really depends on what you're building for - on my dueling Doms/Trollers (and offense-minded Trollers as well) I'll slot a combination, usually 4 Devastations and 2 Lockdowns for the set bonuses and enhancement values. Note that adding even a bit of hold duration via enhancements goes a lot farther when the base duration is 4 seconds instead of 2 seconds. On my Mind/Emp, though, I've got Dominate six-slotted with a hold set, because that build is purely defensive- and support-minded. Powerboosted Dominate, when slotted for hold, can take a squishy out of a fight for upwards of 10 seconds or a melee character out for 6-8, which might be all the time I need to get out of the situation (if that character is attacking me) or get a teammate to help me out. Likewise I'll use that slotted mez to hold a target in preparation for a damage spike - generally if the damage spike is coordinated they'll be dead before the target wears off.

For non-control ATs, there aren't many powers that are designed specifically to mez that also do very little damage (for example, Defenders get Dominate in Psi Mastery, which should probably be treated like an attack, while Blasters get Screech, which should be slotted for stun since its damage is negligible at best).
  6. I wouldn't even take Cobra Strike - its PvP damage is terrible, and Eagle's Claw does the same thing with a lot more damage, shorter recharge, and higher crit rate. In the case of EC, I'd slot for damage since the most you'll do with mez on a Scrapper is drop offensive toggles or possibly give teammates an extra second or two to get to a target.

Seriously, Base Raids and CoP? That's the best you got? We already know PvP is tehlol in terms of development resources.
I wasn't attempting to compare the two in that manner, even you should have been able to understand that. I'm merely using them as examples of things about which we've been told "we'll get them fixed" and are still waiting on. Or, for a different side, we could look at the chat bug where you lose global chat while you're zoning. Been around since at least I12, supposedly fixed once, still happens.

So how many merits will the Hami raid be increased to as compensation for the increased difficulty and frustration factor?

This post may seem a bit angry (that's not my intent, by the way), but I'm really curious and even a bit frustrated that things not working like they should is considered "ok" (see also: normalization of ATs in PvP). I believe it was either I13 or I14 when Chain Lightning broke, and as a result some of the Justice raid regulars simply stopped going to raids, or raids just didn't happen. The damage isn't the annoying part, it's the constant end drain and fear effect that is. It's bad enough heroside, I think we ran one redside raid while it was broken and it was quite frustrating.

(Notably, I'm talking about the line about PvP toggle suppression, where it states that defense toggles will suppress for all ATs except Tankers, where in reality defense toggles do not suppress for any AT in PvP.)

They will fix it, hopefully sooner rather than later. The Chat system still works better than most other games out there.
Yeah, my global friends list went wonky. Hell, even my global channels list started showing phantom channels that are the same as my normal ones but with letters and numbers randomly interchanged, and trying to select one of the phantom channels crashed my client and required a verify. I typed the word "friends" into a global channel and it ended up getting changed to something like "fri233s."

This thread is for ideas and suggestions, and when I say farmers, I mean lvl 50's not power leveling nubs.

Obviously this topic is very controversial so please if you don't agree with farming on any level don't post about it as this is for constructive and helpful information, there are plenty of farm debates out there already.

    Thank you,
I hope everyone reading this learns
    something helpful from the thread.
I'm in MA missions until they fix the recipe drop rate in standard missions. Been using a smattering of easy or higher-than-standard XP canon NPCs (I'll let you people figure that out, you're smart) to fill the ranks of my custom group. As far as build changes go, I have no plans to adjust - I was considering finding a way to add that last 15% to the softcap on my Fire/Kin/Stone during I14 and I15 when everyone was doing boss farms but with the price of purples what they were I decided to forego that and just brought a tray full of Lucks with me. Now, I won't bother, since after running boss farms everything's incredibly easy - I don't even use Flashfire most of the time anymore. My other farm toons have builds that are more general-purpose and won't be going anywhere anytime soon, like my Fire/Psi, Fire/SS, SS/Fire, SS/WP, Elec/Shield, SS/Shield, Fire/Kin Corruptor, Plant/Fire, and Spines/Fire.

Been running +2x8 and +3x8 with the Fire/Kin/Stone using my mish-mash MA group and I PLd a lowbie on my second account from 1-33 in something around 8-9 hours (NPC says 10 but I spent a good deal of that just sitting around). Once they fix recipe drop rates in normal missions I might use Council or something.
  12. The issue here stems from the fact that if you make custom characters and you want them to be worth the same XP as a dev-sanctioned critter, they need to essentially have their difficulty cranked up to OMGWTFBBQ levels. Characters on standard/standard are worth less XP than dev-sanctioned mobs, even though those critters will almost always have more attacks and be quite a bit more powerful.

In short, it's not really worth using custom critters anymore.
  13. Tox you should post your build >.>

    Code:

              Mine Yours
    Regen 37.1 36.4
    Max HP 1433 1199
    Recovery 3.13 3.26
    Max end 117 105
    Recharge 43.8 47.5
    Tohit 17.6 16
    Accuracy 9 9
    Damage 18 22
    KB prot 40 24
So sure, if you wanna get technical, you beat me out by 4% on the recharge, 4% on the damage, and 0.1 end/sec on the recovery. Mine's got more regen, 230 more HP, 12 more end, higher tohit, and almost twice as much KB protection, so unless you have a magical -KB Io that gives you 16 points of protection, you won't get your build "just as high as mine." 24 points is kind of a joke - why bother slotting for that much if it's not even enough to stop Lift/Levitate? Add into that the fact that you took Irradiate (LOL), don't have Aim (even more LOL), slotted Soul Storm for hold (apparently that extra 2 seconds of hold duration makes a lot more difference than the extra 150-ish points of damage you'd get if you slotted it like the attack it is in PvP?), and Soothe and Painbringer are so woefully underslotted I'm at a loss as to why you would have even bothered to take them in the first place.

No, but it's not that big a deal considering that when you're in combat you're going to be suppressed most of the time anyways. The only time capped runspeed really matters is when you absolutely need to get away from a situation, but there's always phase or the GvE Jump Jet for something like that.

I mean the odds of me rolling new toons is low. The first character I ever PLd was my Rad/Psi just before I13 hit (he got to 50 the day before the PvP changes post went up) and it took me about 50 hours, SKd to a 50 and spawned for 6 on the Battle Maiden map - I'm not looking forward to having to do that kind of grinding (and then IOing and accolading on top of that) just to have a 50 ready for PvP. I liked the boss farms because it was 7-10 hours to 50 and then I could get them ready to go at my leisure. Ah well, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

PBU doesn't increase the mag, it increases the duration. If you used PBU and then TF, you might be able to stack it to stun a boss, but honestly it's not worth bothering with. The endurance cost and recharge are too high to be more than a one-off deal unless you have lots of -res to stack it with (such as a Rad/Son, Cold/Son, or Storm/Son).
  23. omg hay guise why aren't purples 5 mil each yet? JEEEEEEEEEEEZ

I spent a very limited amount of time farming standard content today. Got some common salvage and recipes, a few pieces of rare salvage, and one crappy set recipe. Go figure the first thing to drop in my Battle Maiden farm was a respec recipe, which went to the lowbie I was PLing who wasn't my second account.
  24. In addition to keeping powers five levels above your exemplar level, you now earn XP when exemplared just as you would fighting at your native level (unless you turn that off and go with the classic "earn inf only" exemplaring, found somewhere in the options menu).

The crappy lower-level TFs like Posi and Synapse just got a whole lot more enticing.
