I don't think RMTers are having anything more than a negligible impact on the market situations. I14 especially is to blame for most of the high prices on the hard-to-get goods, due to a combination of tickets replacing normal drops for MA missions and inf being easier in general to get (boss farms were ridiculous inf/hour, for example).

    Purple's

So put in lowball bids to snag the purples that the RMTers aren't posting on the market? Or, if I'm understanding you right, the purples that said RMTers have aren't even on the market meaning you'd never have to worry about them unless you specifically went to an RMTer for purples. If there was a finite supply of purples in the game, then hoarding them might lead to negative market consequences, but there's an essentially infinite supply given that every 47+ mob has a chance of dropping one.

The event that drove purple prices up wasn't RMTers hoarding them, but everyone using the MA for their leveling between I14 and I16. Now that people have gone back to standard content (and with the new difficulty settings) you'll notice that purples have slowly started to drop in price. Blame the playstyle of the masses, not the RMTers.
  3. Yeah the ToT spawns are supposed to be a bit more... aggressive... this time around. Combine that with the fact that the costume salvage is awarded for defeating the mobs instead of as a treat this year, and you've got two convincing reasons to stick around and kill your mobs instead of playing ding-dong-ditch. As an added bonus, the XP on large teams for ToT mobs is niiiiiiiiiiiice.
  4. I kind of stopped leveling my colds after they wrecked movement slows in I13. :/
  5. TA is one of the few remaining buff/debuff sets that serves well in a disruption role - it's supposed to be annoying, but if I were doing mostly solo PvP of course I wouldn't use a TA. It's best used for grounding targets to make them easier targets.
  6. Max did not describe a "good player."
  7. I think the biggest solution to the commonality of powers like Phase and Hibernate especially is to get the system back to a state where you live or die by having (or not having) an escape power. Hell, even if you kept heal decay in zone PvP, changing travel suppression back to the PvE rules or even removing it completely would negate much of the need for phase/hibernate because you'd be more able to use the geometry to your advantage, not to mention it would make Kins useful again.

In all seriousness, if they'd just remove travel suppression, heal decay, base resists, fix damage on AoEs, and fix movement slows, we'd have a halfway decent system where every powerset could have at least some use. From there it'd just be a matter of balancing powers one by one, and maybe finding a different solution to the mez system (not a fan of the old mez system, not a fan of the new one either - I still think something different could be done but I can't really think of anything good). I don't think the old PvP system was perfect, but I sure think it's better than the new one. I sometimes wonder what the old system would've been like if they added the "no toggle dropping" rules, added the global resists/defense in epic/patron shields, added psi resists/defese to defensive sets which lack it in PvE, added a small amount of debuff resistance in melee mez protection powers, and implemented DPA balancing the right way (I mean in a way that makes sense, where powers like Bitter Ice Blast do more damage than Ice Blast, or pool powers aren't some of the best attacks). Regarding mez, maybe give squishies a limited amount of protection against all mezzes and make mezzes last less time. As a tradeoff, the mez powers would deal more damage (kind of like the current system, but not so extreme). Under that kind of system, being mezzed would still be a concern if you weren't teamed with an Emp or other such character but wouldn't be a death sentence like it was in pre-I13 PvP because your toggles wouldn't drop.
  8. Purples are still way more expensive than they were between I11 and I13-I14. I picked up an entire Ragnarok set redside for something around 150-200 mil.
  9. Back on topic... I rolled a Son/EM the day I16 went live and it was 50 within two weeks, 40 hours to level it 1-50 (should've been 30 but I discovered a mistake with how my MA arc was set up with set me back quite a bit in terms of speed). Rolled a Fire/EM during this last double XP weekend and it's sitting at just about 35 now. Working on an Earth/Cold (part of an SG team so I'm actually PvE'ing it for the most part) right now, and then I'm probably done with PvP toons. Already have too many I need to IO and accolade.
  10. Origin is completely irrelevant. The powersets you pick, which powers within those sets you pick, and how you slot them is what matters.

This is one of the biggest reasons the fiteklub mentality makes no sense to me (another reason is the entitlement - "I should be able to duel in an open PvP zone, why do you keep interrupting me!?"). You might think you're becoming a better player by not using inspirations, kiting, or phasing/hibernating, but all you're doing is limiting your options and narrowing the scope of what is "acceptable" to the point where you're no longer advancing in skill level. Essentially, you're handicapping yourself by refusing to use all the tools available to you.

Imagine forming a team of like-minded people who don't kite, use inspirations, or use phase/hibernate, and then enter that team in the test PvP ladder (we'll assume for the purposes of this exercise that there is a test ladder, even though that's no longer the case). You would get absolutely destroyed by even the worst teams on that ladder.

That said, our Tech Support Team has received several reports from Mac users who are using the Intel GMA 950 and Intel GMA X3100 video cards.
    • Our Tech Support Team has been holding off on any response to tickets until we could confirm that the cause of the issue had been determined, and we had an idea of how difficult this would be to fix.
    • Please note that if you are using an Intel GMA 950 video card, that card is not supported by the City of Heroes Macintosh client.
At this time, our Mac developers have found the cause of the cursor issue, and are working on a solution.

I cannot give an exact timeline or an ETA of when this fix will be patched to the Live servers, but I will post an update (on the CoH Mac forums and on the Training Room forums) of when the fix is ready to be tested on the Training Room (aka Public Test Server).

If you are a Mac user (with an Intel GMA x3100 video card), please file a Support Ticket via this link.

We are monitoring this thread and the Mac forums for Macintosh-specific issues, but the best way for us to determine how many people are affected is for players to submit a Support Ticket.
    Awesome, thanks for the update.

It proves that Hibernate isn't the "get out of jail free" card you're making it out to be. Here's why:

    * In a 1 vs team scenario, using Hibernate generally only prolongs your death for the 30 seconds while you're in it.
    * In a 1v1 or small team scenario, using Hibernate means you've got 30 seconds of immunity followed by 90 seconds where you're not able to use Hibernate.

If you're so insistent on a nerf to Hibernate, why not just increase its activation time? Making it interruptible is a bit much, and the "make the block of ice able to be destroyed idea" would be neat but the tech probably doesn't exist. Increasing the animation time would mean there's a larger window between when you click the button and when you're actually immune, and it means more time spent rooted while the power animates.

Note that I'm not advocating any of the above changes, as I think with the current travel suppression and heal decay rules an escape power of some sort is necessary, even if it's only temporary. Travel suppression and heal decay, and now the phase change, has served only to slow down PvP and make kills and deaths more guaranteed. Some of the best duels I've ever watched were ones where the participants' HP was constantly bouncing around and you never knew exactly who'd get lucky or who'd do what - watching those was fun. Watching duels these days under the TS/HD on rules just makes me sad.

Yea who would ever agree to a match they couldn't win? Maybe someone who wants a challenge. I learn the most from a duel when i lose, so sometimes i go against the odds so i can learn more, and there are some times i've even won those matches i thought i'd lose.
There is a huge difference between agreeing to a duel and then losing, and agreeing to a duel you know you're going to lose ahead of time. The first situation makes sense - the other person's build might've been better, they used inspirations more efficiently, or they had better timing. The second situation doesn't make sense at all - it just means you're a moron.

As far as AE, all 3 toons can hit 1500 in 1 run. I know because i've been hitting it the past 2 days. So, if i do 3 runs, that's 3 gold rolls or 4500 tickets per toon or a bazillion bronze level 10 rolls. If there's any doubts please create an alt on justice and i can show you. Or ask around for Jess A. Bell.

As far as recipe drops, when i run solo, i can get anywhere from 5-15 on my solo toon. The last time i ran with 2 toons, i got 12 on one and 17 on the other. Some commons and some sets.
That's not how it works - your math is wrong. Let's say NPC X has a 1:1000 chance of dropping a purple. When you're running solo, you'd have that 1:1000 chance because you're the only person defeating the mobs, therefore any drops will go to you. When you add a second or third account into the mix, the chance for drops doesn't change - that NPC still has a 1:1000 chance of dropping a purple. When you defeat that NPC and the RNG determines it will drop a purple, the RNG will then decide which of the people on the team gets that drop. In short, running with more accounts doesn't mean you'll get more drops. Rather, you'll get the same number of drops (within a reasonable variation) but they will be split up between all team members. This is why, in terms of drops, soloing large mobs will be better than running on a team against the same number of NPCs in the long run.

  18. I prefer CoD:WaW over CoD4 (have the 360 versions of both) simply because some of the glitches from 4 were fixed and lag issues seem to be a bit less rampant (and the killstreak powers seem a bit more balanced). I spend most of my time playing Halo 3 or GoW2, but that doesn't mean I don't know anything about games with server browsers like Quake or CS:S (or even Halo:CE for the PC). I have no preference either way, and while I do know that games with dedicated servers make network manipulation somewhat harder, I don't find network manipulation to a big problem in everyday gameplay.

I think its all a mentality of efficiency while having fun.
This is me in a nutshell. I've got a few characters from my early days that I actually went back and gave nice IO builds to, but don't play often because I simply have better characters for what I do.

See, the problem is that next to anything is invincible when it constantly runs. Even with TS, unless you have more then one person you can heal or get away. That's the reason i don't run and kite with my regen.

I actually ran into a kiting regen while on juggernaut, it would ridiculous. They tried taunting me saying i couldn't kill them. When they are noob enough to have to kite on a regen to survive. I got the kill later with help, but really i would respect them a lot more if they were not a coward.

How is ones skill rated? is it kill:death ratio? no or else i could call prowler the one of the best players out there. I hear i was like giggles, but i never saw them, got PL'd by then once, that was awesome...but, skill is basically rated by other players. If someone beats me but did so by some cheap or stupid tactic then really i'm the more respectable player.
Once you guys learn that kill:death ratio isn't everything maybe you want play in a cowardice style.
"Skill" is evasion, knowing what powers to use when, good inspiration management, but most importantly the ability to perform a role really well in a variety of situations (good Blaster, good Emp, good Tanker, good Stalker, etc.). Ultimately duels are meaningless as long as the rock/paper/scissors mechanic exists and the only measure of performance is the ability to do well in a team situation in a given role. For example, I don't duel often even though I have some characters capable of it, because I'm much more comfortable in a team situation playing a squishy when I know the entire other team will be gunning for me (I usually play an Emp or support-spec'd Therm). In a dueling situation, kill:death ratio is all that matters because there's no other way to win a duel. For example, next time I duel one of your toons (if I ever decide I'm feeling bored and need a laugh) I'll just damage you until you hit a heal, and then say "You had to heal, I win" and then quit the match. However, the system will give you the win since I quit early. Does that mean you won? Heck no - you had to heal, therefore I win!

(See how stupid faulty logic is?)

Regarding "cheap tactics," you'll find that the GMs are in support of us, and not you - in short anything goes in PvP short of utilizing geometry exploits. You put toggle debuffs on me and I run into a group of NPCs, which aggro on you and kill you? Too bad, fair game. I have a team and you're solo, and we kill you? Too bad, fair game. I drone you? Too bad, fair game. Ironically, you're the one talking about "cowardice" and "honor" - aren't you the one who uses a flying AR/EM Blaster who uses Boost Range + TP Foe to teleport people into midair and snipe them, and then TP away if you get grounded? But, for you that's okay, because "he wouldn't be able to kill anything the normal way" (your words, not mine) and because "anything goes" (in my words), yet it's ironic that you're perfectly okay with such tactics yet when someone uses phase, it's the end of the ****** world.

And i just realized the title, phasing scrappers? Wait what kind of scrapper needs phase anyway? You should be able to get your defenses up high enough that you don't need it.
Because something will go wrong and require you to need it (or wish you'd had it). My clicks might be recharging when I take a sudden burst of damage on my Regen, or my health might be dropping and my team's nowhere near me on my SR. I might just be taking too much damage, or get into a situation where I'm at risk of dying. I'll phase because it will stop me from dying, which will buy me time for my teammates to get there or for the situation to change so I have the upper hand. In a duel situation, I've got Phase for the occasions where my heals aren't ready and/or my opponent is outdamaging my regen when IH is running.

This is a videogame. There's no such thing as "honor" or "cowardice" here. "Respect" for other players is covered by the terms of the EULA. There's no clause in the EULA that says "don't phase if you're about to die" or "don't use inspirations." When I'm playing an FPS like Call of Duty, I don't give a rat's *** that there's someone at the other end of the screen. I'm there to win and short of network manipulation everything's fair game. In an RTS like Halo Wars, the same deal goes - I'll rush my opponent at the start before he can build up his defenses, because if he doesn't prepare for all potential outcomes, he deserves to lose. Or I'll turtle and then overwhelm him with heavy units, and again, he deserves to lose for not taking the initiative beforehand. I don't care who's at the other console - I'm just some pixels on a screen trying to fight other pixels on a screen and not die. Same holds true here.

Basically i don't care if anyone sucks at warzone, it's all about 1v1 duels with no inspirations/temps that matters to me. That's where i see the kind of skill i think matters.
    1. Learn who's good and who's not. Hint, you're in group two.

    2. Shin is terrible no matter what he's playing. Always has been, always will be.

    3. No-inspiration duels are boring and predictable because any intelligent observer could tell you before the duel even starts what the outcome will be. Inspirations balance the fight and make it exciting.
