A story so interesting you had to post it twice.
Seriously, move on. -
I do. Just FYI.
Quote:I can just imagine it now? Tornado outside "i just gota get on the forums right now so i can winge about not being able to play because of the stupid life threatning chaos outside".
From Twitter:
@Lord_Voldermort7 #amomentofsilence is trending. Some people need to take that moment and make it permanent. -
Might just be me but it felt a lot happier with two seperate installs running than running the same exe twice.
As far as two shortcuts go, I already do this, I thought the launcher was supposed to integrate functionality and features.
At this point in time I'm hopeful the launcher is actually going to be useful, the distributed network thing had better have the hell tested out of it before it goes live. -
I dual box a lot so I have d:/city of heroes and e:/city of heroes. I can still launch both from their folders but the launcher is going to stop me doing this at some point isn't it?
Can't see how to add a second (or more) installations to the launcher.
With regards to the EULA - I actually can't read it with that font / colour on that background. I know I didn't read the old one.. but that was for different reasons, I actually attempted to read this one and just hurt my eyes. -

Just go there and stay there for half an hour or more. Doing nothing. No chatting, no teaming. Nobody wants to repeat a boring experience. Chances of coming home to find child *shudder* dancing in Pocket D with *shudder* other players : slim to none.

Why avoid Freedom?
"It's full of jerks" - so is the world, so is any school you go to, any competitive sports game you attend. TV is full of jerks. I even heard one on the radio the other day.
Turn off global chat and stick to SG chat and team chat and you're golden. If you're in the same room - turn off chat altogether and view more of your screen.
I used to duo with my daughter and honestly it doesn't matter what server you are on if you don't interact with people. Was good times. Now she is into vampire books and movies, is gutted there's no more Veronica Mars and lives on Facebook. Kids eh.
I once played with a Virtue sewer team where the three leaders RPed mobsters all the way through. Hilarious. Everyone should catch some of that. Not so much the naked catgurl frolicking but you know.. parental discretion is the better part of valour. -
Try copying the discs to your hard drive. If they wont copy there then there is a problem with them. if they do, try installing from there.
Depending on your broadband connection, it might just be quicker to download it as stated above.
Make sure you are an admin on the machine and running the installer in admin mode as well I guess. -
Quote:A simple check for numbers before launching an event then. Or that guy leaving the zone. Zone debuffs happen in PvP areas. I'm not advocating anything more flashy than that applied by the Magic pack. I'd suggest something more amusing such as mob heckling than a massive -tohit body blow. As for avoiding a zone - I don't think people would at all. I still want badges on toons and I like events regardless. YMMV.Not really. Then people would just avoid the entire zone while the banners are up instead of just ignoring the banners like they do now.
And penalizing the ONE person that is in the zone for not completing a zone event isn't fair.
If they pop up in the Hollows at 2 AM on a Tuesday, that one level 9 character in the zone isn't going to stand a chance in hell of completing the event alone, and shouldn't be penalized for failing at an impossible task. -
Clearly the game can't explode from non-completion of a mission but I would support a debuff from a failed event or mission. For respecs it might be a personal debuff or even a temporary title like "failed the respec" or maybe random mobs could taunt you : "there's such and such, I hear they failed". For zone events a zonewide debuff wouldn't be out of order and would maybe improve participation.

I made several new salvage racks and just banged everything in there. Recipes I emailed between myself and my other account. Soon as the market came up I crafted some rares and then got all the stun/sleep/fear/etc badges done. Lowball bids and tons of salvage dumping made me a very happy badger.
The lack of anywhere to store recipes was my only annoyance during this period. -
Quote:Let's face it, the only time you're likely to be advised to take the side off your case in relation to overheating is when you don't have a carefully optimised for windflow designed case. In which case it's is an excellent suggestion.Note: This is often not a very good idea. Cases are designed carefully for optimum airflow. Removing the case means that you've basically opened up all the channels that used to funnel air over components and in fact your fans will provide less cooling than with the case on. Imagine a wind tunnel. Now imagine if you took away the walls - how much less air would be hitting the end of that tunnel as it spills away to the sides?
However I hadn't noticed it was a laptop. With laptops, if the fan is at the bottom of the machine, try raising the machine up and not having it flat on your desk/knee/wherever.
In relation to drivers you say you have an ATI card, have you checked for issues on the ATI forums or had a look to see if there is any ATI software you can use to speed up the fans or alter the clock speed? -
Chill. This is a player answered forum, ranting at us isn't going to help you.
Heat is generated in your PC when you ask your CPU to do more work, when you ask your graphics card to do more work, it's a whole bunch of electricity in there, it all makes for extra heat.
Heat can be got rid of by cooling, you have fans on your CPU that you might be able to turn up in your BIOS. You have fans on your graphic card that can be controlled by drivers and software. Nvidia screwed up and broke their fan control in one driver release so check your drivers and regardless of what card you have, see if you can speed up the fans with software. If you are overclocking, try not doing so.
Tl;dr - have you tried running with the case off? Unless you live in a furnace, this will cool the machine instantly. I have heard of loads of people who get a desk fan and sit it next to their PC. That works.
With the case off you can get an idea of whether your fans are actually running. I don't care how clean they are, if they aren't spinning, they aren't cooling. -
Dislike immensely. Can we have a "classic" option put back in please.
-
Option 1 messup affects the whole game.
Option 2 loses 2 bil inf from a handful of people who have multiple of 2bils.
Option 2 looks less destructive and easier to playtest and fix when it goes wrong. -
My vote also goes to thugs/dark. Awesome set. Outside of mm's consider a /dark corr, made mine a fire/dark. Outside of soloing, consider joining some of the global chat channels as if there's anybody on wanting to do anything interesting, they normally mention it on those. Stalkers now solo well. For those times when you want to sneak around instead of trailing a massive bunch of pets you could try one of those.
-
I'd be interested. UK time so it might not work out but if I can help out I will.
-
I've almost finished off my fire/dark, always wondered what dark would be like on a corr having had several corrs and dark on a mm but never getting round to making a dark corr.
Well, now I know and I'd have to say "sweet" sums it up. Took it on an ITF and a RWZ Raid this week and looking forward to RSF this weekend, just need one more level. I've been soloing bits of my patron missions and TV missions and mayhems but my love of playing comes from pugs and this combination brings a lot of control and survivability.
I also found my ice/cold corr easy, didn't like my fire/therm at all, struggling a bit on my sonic/rad, hated my rad/rad, loved my fire/kin. -
Silly, you can't have beef with Smurphy, he's a different animal.

Quote:Casuals who want to purple out their toons are the perfect market for this change but they are the same people who claim to be too casual to even run a task force. They want purples to drop whilst street cleaning. It would be nice if we had something like a task force/ trial that actually could be considered a challenge awarding purples at the end.
I remember when the ITF came out, it was thought a challenge (and not just getting up the hill o'lag) and when Master Of was introduced because States and Recluse weren't enough of a challenge. I'd be getting several purples a day just from xF's if this had been introduced earlier. -
Worth is relative, you just need to find something you really want.
Can I interest you in some common salvage? I've got a load here for a mil a piece.. oh wait.. all sold. Come back later when it will be happening all over again. -
