  1. I've been poking and prodding this WM/SD build for a while now and I dont think I can take it any further on my own. It's flirting with the soft cap (45.4/44.6/45.5) and has 72.5% global recharge to allow for [nearly] full-time active defense stacking.

    What I'm not satisfied with is how I have no wiggle room with regards to the softcap should my defense be debuffed. Anyone see a possible way to retain the global recharge and still increase defenses further?

    Building a shield character is aggravating, you feel like you're playing catchup with SR's defenses and debuff resists simply for the sake of having shield charge.

  2. Justice aint had a yellow bub in a VERY long time, lol!

    Besides, if they're hidden, you're not very likely to run into them anyway, so they may as well not exist for grouping, for all practical purposes.
  3. So, to give you guys some idea of how miserable it is on Justice villains now, I logged in to check populations via /search and this is what I saw:

    520 on Virtue
    130 on Justice

    ...and, if that weren't abysmal enough, a second search in the 31-40 range (level of my current character) revealed:

    118 on Justice
    ...and a grand total of 15 on Justice.

    How the heck is anyone supposed to group in that environment (Justice)???? Alas, time to say goodbye to Redside Justice Anyone know how long a transfer takes?
  4. Thanks for all the comments I went ahead and made an alt on Virtue, simply to compare servers, and it was indeed a welcome change from Justice. There were approximately 3x as many players Redside than there were on Justice.

    ...if the doldrums of Justice continue, a server transfer is in order. I just need to amass a small fortune so I don't come to you penniless!

    Firstly, I've always played on Justice. Unfortunately, I know fewer and fewer who play these days The problem is compounded when I'm on villains - I am so tired of soloing, it was never this bad before!

    So, I've been contemplating a move to the "big two" ie., Virtue/Freedom. However, despite its high population, stories of Freedom's overhyped teen NOW NOW NOW, EXP EXP EXP EXP population sort of put me off. Who knows, maybe it's not really like that and there is something besides AE farm missions on that server (laugh).

    Is Virtue, the much-vaunted RP server, different than that? And, just as important, is there actually anyone to play with on Redside?

  7. I'm getting my SM/DA up in levels (my endurance - where'd it go!) and I've been giving patron choices some thought.

    Basically, it's between GW and Scorpion. With sets, I'll have 26% melee, 23% rng/aoe defense, so I had initially planned on darkest night to nudge enemy overall tohit even further downward... gloom would also be great, given SM's sparse attack chain (only room for one mallet).

    BUT... I'd really love to have Focused Accuracy at times, not to mention that Scorpion's AoE immob would synergize incredibly with fault + Opp. Gloom.


    Opinions on either/or from anyone else who's put themselves through this endurance agony? I plan on having 4end/s regen when it's all said and done, so running FA would be somewhat manageable.

    Though I absolutely love love my spines/dark - he can survive through practically anything. Thinking about rolling another one for the hell of it!

  14. Rolled an ice/dark, even made an IO build to look forward to. Got ambivalent about it and rolled a fire/dark... and now I'm on the fence with that build as well. Granted, they're both still peons but I don't know what to do!

    I think I'm liking the slows on ice, but I can't help but think about the AoE (from fire) that I'd be missing out on. Plus, Bitter Ice Blast would have a nice -10% tohit debuff to stack on with /dark. And of course, then there's Blizzard which beats the pants off of Inferno.

    But then there's fireball, sweet sweet fireball.

    Anyone with experience with both of these have any gameplay opinions? I'm the type of guy who likes to pop Darkest Night on something REALLY far away, pop tar patch around a corner, and go to town.

    After an 8 month hiatus, I'm returning to the game... and boy have things changed in the past couple issues!

    I was looking to try out the new (to me anyway) Shield defense set and, when I saw that Against All Odds aura, I immediately starting salivating over making an SD brute. For primary, I kept coming back to war mace for thematic reasons (I'm thinking DM would synergize well but I just can't get excited over DM paired with a shield...)

    ANYWAY! I don't consider myself an IO noob so I know that planning builds ahead like this is getting ahead of myself, but I've always enjoyed setting a goal for my characters. Nevertheless, I have had real difficulty with WM/SD - this primary/secondary combo is just obscenely tight.

    I was hoping to get some pointers on IO slotting as well as any concievable insight on fitting in Weave without having to sacrifice something like Grant Cover and its DefDebuff resist.

    Edit: I'm also sort of worried about no tactics as well as the weapon redraw due to gloom. ...is the Rectified Recticle unique IO still the only way to get +perception outside of tactics?
