  1. One side of the Musculature tree does offer a boost to Endurance powers, this includes stamina. Indeed it was actually powerful enough for me to equip my plant/storm controller with a little more +rech now that I had more endurance recovery. Something to consider

Inv/Axe as others have stated, is a fun set. Indeed when I made my inv/axe it overshot a few others to become my first 50. Its very team orientated in its soft control and aoe mix of attacks.

For damage though, Go Super Strength!
  2. if a little less battery life is ok for you, you could try the Aspire One AO522-BZ897

amd dual core mobile processor and an ati 6250 graphics chip.
  3. Sardonic, I have an identical netbook to what you are describing. I already upped it to 2Gb Ram and completely wiped the the hard drive (i left the backup there on that seperate peittion) to reinstall Win 7 Starter without any of the bloatware. (If you dont want to reinstall anything just uninstalll just about everything that comes with it.)

Set your power management to high performance.

It runs CoH successfully in safe mode, but thats as good as you'll get it with any framerate that you could run missions with.

The biggest issue really is that GMA3150, wish I could of got a hold of one of those nVidia Ion netbooks.

You'll discover right away that it should come with 2Gb standard, omg the machine is awesome with 2 gigs in it! burned dvd's , flash video (I watch sports from home a lot), it'll last hours on battery.

Actually, one night, I played CoH and had windows media player in the background, running unplugged with the wifi on for 3hours and it still had juice left. So as far as portable devices go, they work really well. But do two things in advance, especially if you want to run CoH

    1) Trim whats installed, or start fresh. (first time I fired it up it took like a minute for IE to open)

    2) Get that Extra memory! It only has 1 memory slot, so you'll need to buy a 2Gb DDR chip

It also plays FEAR surprisingly well
  4. This is a great change to the game also... does this mean we get another... 30 odd character slots to play around with?? Weee I dont need my altitus cured! I found another outlet
  5. Sweet, Protector and Guardian. Got good tankers on both servers. On protector I gotta run the WST! that tanker is beggin for some more incarnate goodies

    How good is WP?

ok ok tankers settle down, they are both good sets. But I guess the reason for the debate is simply that, they are both heavy weights.

One thing i'll say though, end drain, Im not sure but for some reason I have a lot more problems with this on wp than I do Invuln. Remember invuln does have end drain resist, and its toggles use far less endurance than Wp
  7. dam stacker, thats awesome work. i am currently in the middle of completely redoing my base on justice. question, what are those things in the ceiling with the lasers?
  8. Yeah definitely give justice a try. I often get on late night raids thanks to its Australian population. Hook yourself up with the Justice United and Australia channels, should give you plenty of teaming
  9. I made an emp/elec defender, Before I knew what CoH was about, and before i had played any MMO, I was worried about self healing and surviving. Now though, I know Buffs>heals. I got some good use out him on teams, back in issue 6 people broadcasting 'we need healorz' But I grew bored of him very quickly and I basically got him to 50 and shelved it.

my 2 other early characters were an Ma/Regen Agent 1099 . Kinda got lucky on him, Regen is real easy to play early on, QR and multiple self heals? score!

The other, and my first 50, was Radical Raptor, an inv/axe tanker. I quickly loved the dynamic. charging in first, getting all the badies attention, and chunkin that axe around, making them fly up in the air. It was a real fun ride and cemented my love of the AT.

Radical Raptor is also the character that i've rebuilt the most as well. Back then I hadn't discovered the joy of mids, and I came into the game before IO's, but after the GDN and ED. Im sure most are aware of the difficulties invuln had during this time. I believe it was my primary that kept it fun for me, all the knock up and knockdown kept the incomming damage to a managable level.

Once IO's appeared, and Willpower came along, I made a huge mistake and began to build him for +regen and +res bonuses. It just didn't seem to do anything to his survivability. I had gotten to the point of almost shelving the thing and rolling a willpower. However, after a little more research, and wonderful pointers, like Call me Awesome's Invuln guide , I began to rebuild him. He still isn't complete. But I know that we are in need of an amazingly survivable tank, Radical Raptor can do the job. Already I can go afk, surrounded by CoT, and comeback to a barely touched health bar. Something I never could of accomplished before. His performance finally matches his primary's name sake, Invulnerbility.

Through all this, he is a much beloved character, It has felt like an accomplishment, Just like I have written here, he has a story to him, besides the little background bio he has in game. He has in a sense, grown and matured over the years to become a dependable and powerful character that still, makes me chuckle when I play it
  10. I think the gtx460 is a good card for the money and handles CoH without issue
  11. yeah last time I made an emp it was issue 6.. i didn't touch the set again, i'm serious. Something about the set just grates on me. HOWEVER... I agree, plant/ anything should be fun.
  12. I'd also suggest a plant controller. My plant/storm/stone controller has been the most beloved character i've ever created. it is simply too much fun, and is wicked on task forces. Ael there and I have duo'ed an ITF on our plant controllers. Its a great mob mauler

    Gaussian IO Icon

    lol, fun stuff.

my wife thought it was a pirate ship, and the red section was sail

heck the kinetic combats almost look like a kangaroo
but i might be a bit bais there
  14. Awesome Tanker Tuesday all! great fun all round. That Apex, that is just.. amazing well done.

Here are a couple of screenies, I finally got on an all tanker ITF , had a blast, even an electrical blast!

    and a team shot

  15. if its the same one as the one im thinking of, it has 30 amps on the 12v line, should be PLENTY for your current system. Not sure if I should say thats unfortunate or not.

    animal hands?

Yeah use monsterous hands, they are a good generic piece of anything you're wanting to create. you can put them in fur, scales, or gloves, depending on what you are doing. Another set wouldn't be bad though... devs... *poke*...
  17. Could be a PSU. I tend to follow that assumption as well. As just about everyone here will tell you, the PSU's are all about the amperage on the 12volt lines, and less about the maximum wattage of the unit. Is it a good brand? plenty of power to run that graphics card and those drives all at the same time?

    Odd crash

City of runs very stable on all my systems, from my little Acer Aspire One netbook to the Hex core 8 gig 3.2Ghz beast that sits next to me, It always behaves! So when it does crash, I take notice. This happened tonight with the weirdest of messages!

The little white popup box appears and says this!...

You are seeing pop-up errors because you have Access Level (2) or you are on a QA server. These will not be seen by customers.

I saw it! what are you saying O.O

Now, I put it back to desktop and loaded it back up and straight back onto the character I had the crash with, no issues
  19. I was about to say that perhaps its eVGA's precision causing the errors. Wasn't that discussed before?

2 gigs as a max paging file? win 7 + CoH would eat that up pretty quick i'd imagine

  22. I am on later a lot, I dont get home from work till after 10pm most nights.
  23. I could totally do a plant controller thursday, but it would have to be after 10pm central blah! work, *grumble* *grumble*

My plant controller overtook all my others to make it my first lvl 50 controller, it was fun to level up, hugely survivable, and aint bad on the damage neither

We were thinking of duo'ing a lgtf. any hints?
  24. I've had this happen before too. One day at work, I decide to take advantage of some speedy internet and install CoH on to my laptop. Elsewhere on this site is the NA and EU installers, I grabbed the NA one, downloaded it and installed it to my laptop. (this is one week ago!).

I let it go through twice before I gave up and cheated. Once I got home I copied it over my network from my tower to the laptop and installed it that way.
