  1. If you are perfectly fine on endurance and you think you'd do fine even if you had more recharge, go for Spiritual. However, if you feel you could use a bit more endurance but want the recharge, try for Agility this will give you a few more points on defense as well

    Question on EM

The fact that it deals mostly energy damage makes it better than a few others to me.
  3. YES! YES! YES! OH MY GOD YES!

I almost can't play without my mids First thing I did was patch it and build my Elec/Titan tanker i've been leveling up blind.

Patched without incident straight over the old copy. I love how it 'knows' where the old one is . 1 query though, i noticed as well when I select say, cardiac t4 alpha, my resistance values are not changing.

Everything else seems sweet though. Thanks once again for all your hard work!!!!
  4. Yeah recently got to try this out again. I have my main account here, over 5 years, still going strong but I decided to get me a freebie account just for the heck of it. In the end i decided on a spines/elec scrapper for my free account. I didn't have a spines character before, and I like the options you get with electric armor (self heal, tier 9, +end power, good utility) that character will happily run at x8 without issue, heck, without inspirations either
  5. I'll put the build up shortly, but my fire/fire/pyre (with 35% S/L/E/N defense) tanker will handle those enemies at 53x8 with very little difficulty. I don't even back down from those settings with malta or carnies either. With malta i just jump into the mob like i do most everything else, but targetting the sapper then lay waste to it all. It all depends on build and tactics really, I could see nearly any set being about to accomplish what you are after

    Merry Christmas.
Did you take Aid self on your SR? or rebirth, or barrier i guess for the +res, I really like my SR scrapper, but despite positional defenses in the 50's , regular content will sometimes wipe him out where my other scrappers wouldn't faulter. I tried to build for +regen but I found you just couldn't get enough regen to make a difference, so I took aid self, and in some situations, that doesn't work either.

Mind you, something I feel like i'm asking too much of some of my characters, my minimum is always x8 as I love mob maulin so thats usuaully a LOT of seperate attacks to fill up that 5% rule. Perhaps I should just keep on going with it and pick up rebirth. he is alpha'ed but i haven't gotten too much further than that

For an Ma/Sr, let me know what you think the best setup is and i'll see what kind of tweaking I need to do
  7. [QUOTE=New Dawn;4045962]Not trying to be argumentative but you can't be one shotted anymore. [QUOTE]

I know, I mentioned the one shot rule, but if you get hit with 2 damage types hard enough it doesn't seem to matter, so no matter what tools you might have, you can't use them quick enough.

Also, I agree, I don't think tanks really need to be looked at. Sure more damage would be nice but how much before we start stepping on brutes and scrappers toes
  8. Yeah something like that could work.

I was thinking the other day about some kind of backwards fury, the more damage the tanker takes, the tougher he gets. or the more targets agro'ed onto him (if the game can even measure that), the tougher he gets, ie, more resistance or Hp or something. The only thing I get dissapointed with is during some AV/GM fights, you can still be one shot, no matter what.

Seeing my beautifully crafted inv/axe tanker io'ed to be softcapped to all but psi, one shotted by Black Swan was so belittling. Yeah we have the 1 hit rule, but it doesn't mean squat, cause if you do get that fatal hit, you're either attacked again before you can think to pop a heal or a respite, or the hit contains 2 damage types or DoT.

Perhaps an inherent that would counter act that would be something I would more look forward too. Though i'm guessing that the issue is more down to game mechanics than AT design.
  9. This is why I am really refraining from making an SR tanker. Like others have mentioned, your team make up had a lot of +defense, but not a lot of anything else, time has some healing though, having no resistance or healing of your own really leaves you hanging. I have run into situations on my Sr Scrapper, where it didn't matter how many greens I popped, even with Elude running, that 'always 5% to hit no matter what' was enough to take him out more than once. SR is flawed in my opinion, even though it does do what it does do well, I put its issues more down to game mechanics than the set itself.

In that situaion though, it was really just bad luck.
  10. It can be done, and the effect is pretty dam sweet too. I have a fire/fire/pyre tanker on exalted that is extremely quick at mob melting and tough enough to run at x8+3 no matter what enemy types it is facing (yes, even carnies). I did have quite an odd build though. I went to 35% defense to S/L/E/N . Nowadays, I find E/N more and more worth it, not only because of all the energy damage in incarnate areas, but it also boosts your ranged defense to a lesser degree, that helps a LOT with combatting psi.

Next I went cardiac, to build for all that defense and recharge, there was really no other way, but it had an added bonus. Between, Blazing Aura, Combustion, Fire Sword Circle and Fireball, I really didn't need any more aoe, and Endurance was so much less of an issue I dropped Consume in Favour of Incinerate.

Mobs melt, Bosses melt, you might not be the toughest tanker on the field, but you'll have more fun than most!
Not bad for an idea I was skeptical about for years,(building a fire armor with defense in mind) wish I had tried it sooner

oh yes, you can start getting great defense numbers much sooner than 50. Kinetic Combat and Eradication are both lower level sets that give you great numbers. I love getting in on a lower level task force and discovering that my defense is basically unmoved
  11. Yeah I have found the new launcher more efficent to be honest, though I always have it close once CoH loads up so I never get hit with the memory leak. But last patch came through at roughly 5 megabytes a second, speeds I wasn't getting ANYWHERE near on the old launcher. Even still, I agree that it shouldn't be needed, its just wasted code for me, I have no intention of purchasing any other ncsoft games in the near future.
  12. Eh, I run nVidia and I'm seeing more crashes than usual, granted its only happened twice, but both times it was during incarnate trials when the action was getting intense.

That has never happened before and the framerate was fine. Its very unusual for me to see a crash at all in CoH so im starting to believe there may be something to this. The only thing that runs while CoH is on is AVG antivirus and the steam client. I have tri-boxed coh without issue so I know the system can handle it all. I'll keep an eye on the thread. Maybe somethings a miss, maybe it was a one time deal.
  13. Invuln has no end management tools but it is very end friendly.
I bought the custom skins pack since its free at the moment, still waiting on my alotment of points though it's gonna kill me
  14. Obsidius your avatar creeps me out

also, yeah, I wouldn't of bothered with the original dvds, just download and run the launcher always Just incase you need to do it again in the near future
  15. My only question now is... mids ? pretty please
  16. Even though I was .. so so with titan weapons on the test server, im still annoyed as hell that i only have 740 paragon points >.> 3 more weeks to go....

Yes I agree, ever since the 5th column appeared it has made it tricky to find intact spawns of council in boomtown.
  18. Yep, ran a pretty quick Numina (thanks Witty), and got my elec/elec tank on champion onto a tier 3 spiritual, yummie. Also took out a couple of AV's after the task force. Thanks for another fun Tanker Tuesday
  19. Sounds like Radial Rebirth is it then. Now to run a few more trials
  20. Here is my current build on my Inv/SS tanker on Justice. It is softcapped to all but psi with 1 mob in range. I also have a tweak to it where I drop a slot from combat jumping, put that slot in TI and use the Gladiators +3% defense, puts me at nearly 50% defense, not bad on top of my resists a +hp heal and unstoppable. Also, I am swapping out the Cardiac for an Agility, I still want the endurance, but I can easily handle the extra recharge... and recharge is always good.

My question is, Rebirth or Barrier? Im leaning towards rebirth, not sure which one I want yet though as i've yet to use Rebirth on any character yet. Or is there another one I should consider?

Without stealth your 1 luck away from soft cap. With stealth you'd need a luck to softcap on your own. Why have stealth on a tank? Not many reasons.

End rec 2.83, end drain 2.78 with stealth on, 2.01 with stealth and foc acc off, chance for +end roughly means your end rec is 3.23. Then with cardiac your making things better 3.23-1.48=1.75 which to me is not enough. Consume every 2 mins, ouch doesnt appear to be too end friendly.

Spring attack, if you are going to take a sub par pool power, find slots for it or atleast take conserve energy.

It's up to you but to me I'd be wheezing with this build I think and when survival relies on offense you need to attack.

Conserve power would be nice, haste would be nice, concealment would go, 32.5% def would be good enough as its 1 luck still from softcap. Spring attack, if concept requires it, slot it.

I'd rather have a 13.5s ish healing flames or stamina with end mods than some of that stuff in health too.
    I agree.
    Stealth is wasted.
Endurance can be quite an issue for fire/fire.
My thoughts on the spring attack was that it was meh, at best. Air Superiority is still the best pool power attack.
  23. At 40% to melee and ranged, you should be fine on a fire tanker, don't forget all that resistance and the self heal. I have an experimental build on Exhalted which only has 35% to Smashing/Lethal Negative and Energy and although I was skeptical at first, I have found it to be amazingly tough. I am planning on switching out the Cardiac and going with Agility. Although I like the extra resistance I get from Cardiac, i'll get a touch more defense and lots of recharge with Agility.
