I just hate logging into a different character and finding some weird floating power tray in the middle of the screen. wth?

I agree with this. though the if your going Atom, go the dual core for CoH. But so far, testing with the nVidia chip, MUCH better frame rates.

I had the Acer Aspire for a few days, couldnt type on it any faster than my pda so i gave it up for a full sized laptop.

The Aspire one, had xp Sp3 2Gb ram, standard trash intel GMA gfx chip and the 1.6Ghz Intel Atom. 120Gb HDD.

COH ran... dont do anything other than safe mode if you actually want to do missions.

Mine actually included the heavy battery, and yes with wifi in, played CoH for an hour and listened to music while browsing the web for a couple of hours and still had 1/2 the battery left.
great stuff.

Only thing I can think of would be the amount of bandwidth or processing required whenever your near an AE building.

two things that point it towards that for me are...

I had a slight temperature problem on my pc last year and CoH was the only thing it showed up on. Crysis? No problem, Call of Duty? easy. CoH.. 20 minutes.. Freeze reset.

Out of everything I was using CoH was pounding my CPU more than any other piece of software. GPU is another story

To make another small point. I can play CoH for hours on my laptop, its running vista 32, has 2 gigs of ram an amd mobile single core chip 2650e (ergh being replaced soon) and a horrid Ati x1200 graphics chip.

I have even run ITF's on the thing, though on that 3rd mission it was more of an ITF in slideshow but you get my point.

It must depend on where you are or firewall settings, even on my (relativily slow for standard cable) connection it takes a little over an hour and basically caps at my connections download speed

I know more than one person as has this problem come up too.

This guide may have convinced me not to delete my lvl 41 invul/energy melee tank I have thats collecting dust. He has about 20 mil collected up so far so I think i'll give him a respec then get to work on some of the build.

I started my will/stone a while ago but he was built up almost the exact same way, skipped the toggles till later, picked up QR and stamina, although i picked up both mallets. He is just getting ready to grab tough and weave and im looking forward to it. He is a damage machine already, and with tough/weave added in there, i KNOW it will be stupidly hard to take him down. Mind you, i've rarely had to use SoW yet.

its looking to be one of the more fun tanks i've yet to build.

I swore off Defenders for the longest time. I managed to get an emp/electric to 50, mostly due to the SG i was in being like '7 hero team, we need healorz for invince AV mish' . I've respeced him a dozen times and im just not happy with him.
He has been my only character that has been shelved, basically.

After reading your guide, i decided to give this a shot, as I don't have any characters with Radiation yet, so it would be cool to try out.

OMG wow. he is only lvl 14 but is progressing beautifully. so far, not having stamina has not been an issue, i survive ambushes, red conning bosses.. piece of cake, teams love AM and heals.

Thanks for your little guide man, it was enough to make me curious about another defender and im glad i tried it

Frozen, the specs on the ipaqs match my axim so it should be possible. The only thing to consider on mobile devices is whether or not they have the bandwidth to push say 10 jpgs a second though their busses , most have 2D acceration which is what you want for stuff like this.
When I get this running good and I decided on the software I want to use i'll upload a vid of it running. I do have a couple of photos I took of it running on my axim but no way to upload them yet

Success, got it running! I will upload some pics when I can! I am going to tweak with it more tomorrow and let you guys know how it goes.

now with my pda I too was getting cannot connect errors, it seems my client software was unable to handle encryptions. you might want to try disabling that Captain ?

it'll work. i started messing with this on my pocket pc last night. Looks promising i'll post when i know more

I never thought of using this software before either. I should check it out on my Dell Axim, which actually runs Quake 3 by itself fairly well, as for WolfET, im still waiting for someone to make it pocket pc compatible.

How about they change the sound of taunt to be vage real taunt by random. Kinda like "Your mama...", "It's that all you got?"," My grandma hits harder","Did you just touch me!", or "Let's see what you got!" Any sort of short phrase might be nice for a taunt's sound instead.
