I thought the -renderthread 1 was by default now. if not i'll add it. MY frame rate in coh is fine but stutters badly (as far as im concerned, i am very picky when it comes to pc performance) in CoV. I'll ad that to my various shortcuts and see if it makes a difference.

am running AMD dual core 3Ghz on 4Gb ram. I'd love to know what else I can do.

its mostly perfect. Villain side gives me grief at those settings though.

I was assuming it was 1680x1050 16:10 very common resolution for most run of the mill flat panels.

I've had people complete a story arc while in an ITF (no i don't know how), the whole team got like you say 2 merits for it. maybe the engine jumped to the next line and decided it was TF complete. yeah i'd agree 9800GT, one of my rigs here has the 8800GT and that barely pulls off heroes with max details, FSAA and AA at x2 .

After the troubleshooting listed above, it seems that the problem is the PCI-E slot.

Oh well......I tried what I knew. Thanks all for the help anyway.

Now before I attempt to undertake the dangerous task of attempting to convince the wife to make yet another computer related purchase, is is possible to get a bad PCI-E slot repaired, or should I just man up and ask if we can get a new motherboard?

Go into the BIOS and check to see if there is a setting for the Default video or to enable/disable the PCI-E slot. It may even be that you need to Disable the onboard video in order for the PCI-E slot to function correctly. Yeah, it shouldn't be this way but I've seen some really oddball settings in BIOS's for various computers that made me wonder what the heck the manufacturer was thinking.

Also, it's possible that there may be a jumper on the motherboard to enable/disable the PCI-E slot or set the default video to use the PCI-E instead of onboard.

there is an issue with one of the graphics drivers for nVidia with windows 7. I never ran into the issue when I was running the win 7 beta but its cropped up on the boards here a few times!

I kinda liked it when we were fighting rommy on that 3rd ITF mission and a few of my carrion creeper vines decided that rommy was too tough and went after the brute on the team

I agree, no need to get bent out of shape the first time round O.O . I don't even remember how many STF's I was a part of that failed until I finally got one that succeeded. 9 times out of 10 it was ghostwidow that halted the team, not even lord recluse.

Try it again, see what teams succeeded, build up a different team based on the info. They may tweak it as well.

Hero version.. yeah not much there. we knocked it out in under an hour but had a great team make up. Still fighting Reichsman, omg is he a bag of hit points. He's harder to take down that Lord Recluse after the towers go down.

team was, Plant/storm Ill/Kin Rad/Sonic 2 scrappers 2 blasters 1 tank.

Ahh i actually have a lvl 46 fire/thermal controller on virtue, however, you definetly shouldn't have any trouble getting a team. Communication is the big thing here. As others have said, check out some of the servers channels, you should be golden

what server are you on, I like to run one a day, I know plenty of skilled ITF'ers

yes confuse is great. especially since you can choose specific target to confuse without agro. my personal favourites are shield generators, tsoo sorcorers and death shamans confuse a shaman, then have him cast pets.. tada 2 husks ready to fight for you! even without confuse

As far as soloing TF's . yes I would say you could solo a synapse. We did one the other day, with 3 tanks mind you, not the most damaging team, and the clockwork king still vaporised like water on a muffler, but the TF as a whole.. will take you some time

yeah i've done tons of TF's , bought god knows how many rare recipes with them, have only had that issue once. and they were rewarded when I logged in the next day.

oh yeah, it can be a crumby TF sometimes. I hate it. took nearly 2 years to successfully complete one on my old server.

Switched to Justice, a bunch of us basically PuGGed it.. was the weirdest thing i've seen too.. we veng baited.. with pets, and rushed all 4 AV's at once.. took them all down too O.o!

Sometimes, what seems like the perfect team for it, isnt. I cant explain it.
