Quote:hahahaha yeah no kiddin. Is it me or is this the only game where people have asked for the ability to move slower, gotten it, and then celebrated the fact?
I love this game....
I still have a Perfect World International account, though it hasn't been touched in a while, and oh my god its so slow getting around its painful comared to CoH, we've always been speedy and (mission teleporter anyone?) now the latest and greatest travel power? Walking! 3mph top speed! woo! lets hit atlas and break out the boomboxes XD
seriously, this game is pretty dang cool -
Oh yes that 260GTX is comming in just for this
well ok, maybe for Crysis 2....
and World at War ....
and Modern Warfare...
XD what? I play CoH and I like me FP Shootersthough I bet I could turn off AA and FSAA and my 8800GT ssc 1Gb would still handle Ultra mode just peachy

Quote:This. just do an ingame petition, the next day I logged in, tada new vet badgeDon't email the devs, they have nothing to do with the badges being awarded.
File a /petition in game and/or file a support ticket on the PlayNC support website. Customer Service will fix the issue since that is their thing.
Seems one of the recent updates to the PlayNC site has borked the awarding of Veteran Rewards. -
kinda off topic, do we have some actual images from the graphics update for Going Rogue yet? I dont mean the photos taken off the projector at the comic on, actual like pc screen shots, I'd love to see some split screen before/after images
-
currently running an 8800GT, its flawless in CoH, no errors, settings maxed. I would also recommend the GTX260, its what im going for. I don't remember whether or not CoH can even use SLI ?

"its mega maid, she's gone from suck to blow!"
perhaps the title should be i18 blows XD ? -
Woo. I was hoping just for a lighting upgrade but that is just awesome!! totally looking forward to that.
Question though, will All of CoH look like this? or just after you purchase Going Rogue? -
heh, at least fox news reports SOMETHING. XD
but yeah, We were chasing apoc warnings the other day and that one came up that said
Unsual Monster activity in Croatoa , someone on the team said 'Yeah.. croa's up!'
I said . Naa, croa is just creepy all the time -
Quote:Totally agree.Lighting is, really, the big clincher for me. Dynamic lighting, more specifically. I don't need to see lens flairs, dynamic shadows or anything fancy. Just Tomb Raider 2 dynamic, coloured lights. And it's not just to add more LIGHT to the game, but also so we can add more DARKNESS.
Here's the thing - the darkest any area in the game can be is limited by how dark it can be while still letting you know where you're going. This is bad in two ways - firstly, dark places aren't really dark, they're more dim and secondly, the places that ARE dark (Sharkhead Island at night... Ugh!) are REALLY dark and you often have no idea if you're walking along a road or running against a building. With dynamic lights, you can let heroes bring their own light (have them self-illuminate the surroundings like in Diablo), which means both more and better lighting, as well as the ability to make REALLY dark places with the knowledge that we'll just illuminate them and still be able to see. In fact, you can give powers with a perception debuff a more powerful lighting effect, so that when you turn on, say, Minerals, you see better in the dark.
Those street lights would have a purpose, when we start surging with electricity, it would REALLY show, Vanessa DeVore's party can be even darker and more atmospheric, and even the D can be made darker. CoV at night can stay as dark as it is (it's already too frikkin' dark!) and we'll still be able to move around without tripping over the street curbs.
And, really, in a game with so much coloured lights as City of Heroes, how do we not have actual coloured lights? That alone would double the apparent quality of the graphics, in my opinion.
Having lighting outside would mean something, as would inside. I have been trying to pin whats not 'up to par' on CoH's graphics and I think you hit it right there with the lighting
A lighting engine revamp would be awesome. Imagine, going into a run down warehouse mission , and right in front of you its pitch black, but up head there is a side room with a light on shining light across the hallway, as you approach it you begin to see faint outlines of Trolls or Outcast as they lay in wait. You target one and set of a fire ball, the hallway is lit in bright orange (or any now) light as the blast heads down the hallway to its intended target.

Love all this discussion of lore involving the shadow shard. its fantastic. I'd like to see a TF in the next couple of issues reveal a little more of the shard to us, have maybe just 1 mission of the task force actually inside the shard.
Get people more familiar with it, even though sometimes i love how vast and empty the place is, there is so much lore and writing about it that its a shame 90% of players will miss it. -
I'm from Sydney Australia, Almost always on Justice
just seems to be easy to get teams and task forces for the times i play
i recommend it.
-
Was actually able to participate in a double XP weekend this time! woo!
Justice, where it seems teams are running all day everyday anyway... XD
Ran my already lvl 50 plant/storm a bit and helped a bunch of people level upand earned money
(380Mil inf! woo)
Got my Fire/Fire scrapper from 12 to 38!!! omg this character is going to be fun
Even on Champion I had a little go of it!
Got a lowly Fire/Kin Controller from 22 to 28! (I know im odd, I cant stand fire/kins, this is the first one I haven't deleted!)
Got a couple of levels on various alts across a lot of servers XD -
I run speedies all the time on my plant/storm . 2 things that help here,
1) The Earth Epic, gives you Earths Embrace (dull pain +hp +heal), 2 nice attacks, and Rock armor +defense to smashing/lethal.
2) Ad a celerity unique in sprint then sprint + steamy mist = invisibilty.
Now, I took Leaping, so Combat Jumping + Rock Armor + Steamy mist + a few choice IO sets = soft capped smashing/lethal defense.
Being able to stealth is key i think. With steamy mist there its a great start. But the defense is really nice too. I love going toe to toe with a cyclops only to watch him miss more than he hits me, and if he lands a good blow, i have Earths Embrace to heal back up.
I never took Hurricane, I would of prefered the rooted mobs to not move around when running it, there for perfect -tohit shield right there, but I currently have Snow Storm, but don't use it a whole lot. Might switch them out im not sure.
Im sure im not the ONLY one who blitz's Task Forces (all task forces for that matter) on a plant controller, but this is 2 things I think really boost the success -
Yeah plant works well for damage, I can 'farm' quite quickly on my plant/storm/stone

Even before issue 16 i've seen CoH gobble up a touch over 1Gb, with 4 it doesn't hurt at all. Game play has been just as it was before as well. No new lag no less frames etc.
Now I know in issue 14-15 ish, there was a bug to where if you went into base edit mode, THAT introduced a memory leak issue and its a known issue, Just don't go modifying the base if you intend to play for a few hoursOr did they fix that with i16
?
-
True i suppose, just throwing idea's out there.
-
I still think the trial account restrictions need to be looked at though, a big difference between wow and CoH is that CoH is instanced, ei.. everyone goes into a door and as such, are on their own zone now. Not a whole lot of people street sweep in atlas park.
This design difference is also probably the reason people say the game is like 'empty'.
Chat channels are probably the best if not only way to get on teams. I've had people say they've left one server cause they could never find a team yet im there all the time and its constant TF's and Maria Jenkins arcs
Its almost as they say.. its not what you know but who.
-
For radiation melee, I could see them all being -resist, but how bout a small -regen portion. Obviously it would have to be carefully weighed, but think about it. you wouldn't be doing any more damage than other tanker sets, but at the same time against bigger foes, (AV's the most obvious) you'd be more beneficial not to mention make them soloable finally.. (if you happened to choose an armor that wouldn't help you out, like fire for example).
-
Hmm, i gotta find out who i know thats going to the comic con and beg them. ain't no way im getting there. sigh.
-
I'm so glad i kept my Defeat Battle Maiden mission after all, especially with the new difficulty settings XD
and yes stone mastery rocks!.. no pun intended. I have it on my plant/storm, I run almost at the defense soft cap for smashing/lethal. that pvp +3% defense would do it but i don't have that kinda money XD -
ok Power Customization and electric tanks aside (omg yes!), I love the changes to the UI . It seems much more polished and easier to read. nicely done devs
