well, with some of the crazy situations you can create in this game....
for example, I've seen a granite tank one shotted (from the 2 different damage types to get around that rule >.> )
my shield tanker on liberty was running on a pug, even with 52%melee 52ranged and 48%AoE, was worn down to 50% health after one mob of +3 romans.
xD -
Quote:Rofl, This.. is awesome! I could see me charging down a mob of nemesis with a big ole slap of T-BoneA shield for SD that looks like a side of beef, so I can literally be a meat shield
yes i'd agree to raising the agro cap, and/or the number of targets taunt hits.
more damage? eh i'd go for a slight buff to survival if anything, I find, depending on your set picks, you can get all the damage you need, both my fire/fire/fire and my shield/elec/body tanks just decimate mobs so dam quickly that I will set the pace on most every team they join.
if we were givin a buff to survival (even something like 5% resist or 2% defense per toggle) using set IO's you could give yourself more damage anyway -
I recently put together a killer SD/Elec tank that took body mastery, I can enegy torrent/shield charge/lightning rod all day and all night without dipping into the blue bar. True I did take Conserve power to get to the others but I didn't need accuracy, and its good for emergencies, like fighting multiple carnie boss mobs, sometimes that end drain gets in (though i am over the softcap), But the last power I took was Physical Perfection and I know that is making the difference.
True enough it isn't a huge buff, but its so cheap, you can leave it with just the one slot on it and it'll be as strong as it ever would be.
Still trying to put a dark/dark/nrg build together that i like -
well i tested my
wifes computer, 8800Gtssc Pass
My computer, GTX260 Pass
but the biggest surprise
the 'other' computer 8600GT Pass
also my laptop running ati express fail
should go check my media center edition computer in the lounge room -
I know others have said this in the past, but Axe is a fun set. The first character I got to 50 was an Inv/Axe tank, way back in issue 7 and he blew past other characters I had that were already high.
I took axe melee for both concept and function. All that knockdown is great soft control, which not only helps you, but also your teammates. It also had a good variety of attacks, wide cone, narrow cone, AoE, single target, perfect for different situations.
I have since built up a Shield/Axe tanker on another server who is about to hit the big 50, i've already started building him up with defense set bonuses. Again I found that soft control and really, just the hilarity of it, to be another boon to playing an axe character again, combined with shields , well shield charge and a damage buff, its just the icing on a yummie cake.
Now you'll never be a damage power house, thats not why I originally went with the set but it's great for teamage!
My old axe tanker collected the Rikti, Vanguard, Roman, Rularuu, and a bunch of other axes, this one will be the same. (some are still calling for a guitar xD ) All I can say is...
Happy Ka-Chunkin! -
Quote:I was about to suggest those 2 very combos.I know of some Fire/Fire and Shield/Elecs who are laughing all the way to Wentworth's after reading this. And that's just to name a few.
I have a shield/electric tank that just decimates maps. I built it without tough/weave/hasten (took SJ for theme), 47% defense (omg once you get there its amazing), between shield charge, lightning rod and energy torrent, nothing moves.
The other one is a fire/fire/fire tanker that is just as brutal it seems
took Tough, concerntrated on +HP +Regen but most of all +Rech (also got 18% psi resist).
Between Buildup, Fiery Embrace, Fire Sword Circle, Fire Ball, Combustion, heck Blazing Aura and even Consume, yeah your gonna get the job done.
neither build has any purples in it either, so I bet it could go even faster if you incorporated them. -
I think Tough is a must have on any Resistance set, and I plan to put it on any future dark/dark I create xD
-
Actually BrandX you raise a valid point there with Shield Armor. I like building my tanks, I love making them unstoppable machines of war xD, though At the same time, I want to be able to pummel my foes into submission, so all of my tanker builds are tight, but I digress.
In my experience, you are quite correct, Shield Armor, I found to be very lackluster, as I was leveling up I found i had to almost constantly swallow a purple pill to deal with large mobs or i'd face plant every time, One with the Shield made little impact. I managed to skip tough/weave, but using IO's got over that magical 45% defense and it let me pick up a little more damage and end management.
I do have a question relating to dark though.
I built my fire/fire/fire tanker on +HP +Regen and +Rech as far as IO bonuses went (Tough is a must boy does it make a difference on a Resist set), and it is truely a beast, just like my shield/electric, I mean come on, Buildup+Fiery Embrace+Fire Sword Circle+Fire Ball+Combustion... even consume O.O, not enough AoE glory for you? xD
If I were to build a dark armor tanker using the same stratergy, would It work just as well? (I imagine better given some of the soft control), Heal up faster, more HP to dip into and more passive healing, if so, what primary would work the best? Perhaps Dark/Dark? -
I still go for 50's . picked up 2 gaussians and 2 Obliterations during one of Unai's big outdoor maps (the Banished Panthenons one). If it had been at 48 i would of lost 60 million (that was the difference at the time), but even fighting lvl 50's , one strike from my shield/electric tanker and the whole mob was over anyway, so I don't think it would of been much faster anyhow.

I would look into any netbook based on the ION platform. They are dual core with nVidia mobile chips. these would be your best bet. I had an Apsire One before I exchanged it for a full sized laptop (i needed the keyboard) and as someone else mentioned, you could get away running a mission or 2 in it but it would look dirty.

Welcome!
you know you won't leave the same way right?
-
Also, if your in another game where you can't set a max frame rate easier, just enable Vertical Sync in your graphics drivers, on most monitors it'll set the maximum to 60 or 85, some will go higher of course.

I made a pirate type, with dual flintlocks
arggg

Question reguarding this graphics card,
How capable is it? I have a laptop with the same chip in it yet to play CoH I have to load it into safe mode to get decent frames, I blame the cpu though, good thing is, its got a complete Socket AM2 ready to go for any chip up to 45 Watts, so my quesion is, If I go with a better cpu, will those graphics improve? -
A kangaroo might be considered bipedal, though they don't exactly sprint xD
Hence all the ones I've made for the SG are Super LEAPERS! xD -
-
Hmm. with an SG on justice titled 'Combat Kangaroos' this next issue might be all the more interesting

Would be great if the Consignment house interface was made more efficent. I don't know if its inefficent now, Now I've never had a crash/disconnect while using the market but every now and then, (maybe during peak times, either for the game or internet traffic between me and the servers, no idea) I will have to repeat my bids several times for them to 'stick'
ie I'll put a Luck Charm up on the market for 1000 inf. but nothing will happen for a second or two, then the Luck Charm dissapears and is back in my inventory, so I will have to drag it back into the market again.
This is the only re-occuring problem for me and its intermittent. -
Oooooh don't tease me like that! *drool* can't wait to throw this rig at ultra mode!

Yeah got one too. not sure how to insert an image but here's a link

As others have stated, they are just different. No your not going to be the toughest kid in the park, but your going have fun hitting things! My only experience with fire armor, even after 4 years, is a scrapper that hit 50 almost 2 months ago, my fire armor tanker is being built up on another server.
I built a fire/fire/fire scrapper to be a damage machine. I plan to build up my fire/fire/fire Tanker the same way(currently lvl 37! gettin there). Now, a lot of people will say they suck, but they aren't familiar with playing one. Believe me, as i Built up my scrapper I realised it wasn't going to play the same. Now im a 4 year vet, I'd never used fire armor before because of what people said about it, now though, I love it!
My fire armor scrapper can farm freaks set to 8, I had a big out door map i cleared a couple of times because it was fun, before moving on to the next mission. I also didn't bother with +def either, why? I wanted DAMAGE!
to that end, I went with global recharge, with a little +HP and Regen!
Now I never build characters with purples, so I know if you do, you could end up with greater numbers! I personally never see the cash for it! (I really don't farm, I like going through the different content I find
I took CJ/SJ/acrp, SJ was just for theme, so CJ/Acro made it easy to bypass the knockback and immobilise holes in fire armor. Temperature protection got the +res to psi IO as did a couple others. Don't forget Temp Pro offers slow debuff resistance! as does winters gift!
Fitness!
Tough is a must! I did not take weave!
BLAZE MASTERY! (I did say i wanted damage! and it fits the theme!) BU+FE+FSC+FB!!!! blaster nuke almost!
In the end I ended up with
59% global recharge
30% resistance to cold (fire's weak point)
12% psionic (this does make a difference!)
40% resistance to being slowed
and a heal that hits for 674hp every 15 seconds! thats a lot of mitigation right there!
I know these are my scrapper numbers, but my tank is going to be built the same way, little more resists though.
I might seem a little exictable about it, but with good reason. I finally ignored all the nay sayers and built up a character that has surpassed my expectations!
So go for it, its not like you can't create another one! IO's have opened up a world of possibilities that now, make your hero's build as customizable as the costumes they wear!
