  1. yeah I've run into this when running windows 7 too. Since I am a brand newbie to win 7, I'd love to see what the solution to this is, if any!
  2. totally possible. I have done it on a PC.

first issue, get a speedy flash drive

second issue, Registry. City of heroes will want to be installed, not sure how that will work on a mac, especially since you are disabled from installing anything. Hopefully some mac people will pop up here soon!

    Brutiest Brute?

my latest project might fit in the catergory of brutiest brute, I decided to try and make the toughest brute I could think of while also dishing out damage. I came up with an electrical melee/Stone brute.

With Granite running he is at 45% defense to S/L/E/N/F/C
    85% Resistance to smashing/lethal
57-67% Resistance to all else but psi
can run at 20 miles an hour in granite
has only -5% recharge debuff (Granite - set bonuses)

outside of granite he is nearly capped for S/L and Psionic, with tons of +rech

He is lvl 35 now, having a ton of fun with him
  4. for blasters (and evidently, Peacebringers)

    POD BOOM!!!

the next atlas park costume contest with the /em vuvuzela available xD ?
  6. Just be careful we dont over bloat this game now >.<
  7. I actually had CoH running on an Aspire One netbook, the one with the 120Gb HDD (I think) xp installed. In the end I returned it for a notebook. However that tiny little device played CoH (though just a hint above safe mode), quite happily for 3 hours and still had 35% battery time remaining. I would of kept it, only at the time I needed the bigger keyboard.

That being said, any netbook that runs the nVidia ION platform is a good performing piece of equipment that would actually beat my larger sized laptop in performance
  8. I am also in the process of leveling up an elec/tanker, this one elec/elec/ at lvl 30 I picked up tough on a Synapse TF, the thing was a beast. I plan to make it a big recharge build (no purples), with hasten up it has Energize every 36 seconds, 6 seconds off making that +regen Perma . with purples it would be easy to accomplish. The first 2 attacks also have a Chance for Self Heal slotted.

I also think electrical melee is a pretty decent pairing for electric armor. Many times during boss fights, the bosses endurnace was completely drained and he basically became my punching bag, and I have yet to pick up Lightning Field.

I'll wait until I run through an ITF before I make any serious judgement on its tanking ability. Already though, it feels much more durable than my fire/fire tanker.
  9. outstanding! created a second mids and took my painfully tight brute build and copied it over. If this is indeed how the inherents are going to work, I am more than happy
  10. way back when I was still on a trial account (almost 5 years ago) 2 characters that really stuck out to me was an emp defender called The Resurrectionist (sp?) and a Storm defender called Tsoo Much Drama . we laughed ourselves silly with him running hurricane everywhere.

Out of my own creations, After GR came out I decided to roll a dual pistol character as a bit of a joke and called it Gun Fu Roo. with all the flashy dancy animations it has. But i've ended up liking the combo (Dp/MM) so now he's in paragon city after surviving Praetoria
  11. omg i lol'ed at that vid, it must be late or something >.> ... . I love that 'where is he going!' I like how at least he figured out enhancements and as he said, made the game feel more like a first person shooter. thats good stuff right there
  12. I'll go out of the norm here and say Kings Row. The whole zone is drab and dull. If i set my graphics card to display no more than 16 colours at one time, Kings Row would still come out looking the same.

Rofl, ok that one made me laugh. Time to build a stalker XD
  14. heh, i hate invuln until its slotted. I found for some fight's i'd have to rely on outside buffage or unstoppable to deal with anything thats not smashing/lethal >.<

however, reactive armor, Kinetic Combat, maybe the steadfast +3 in there.. it becomes something closer to its name sake, Invulnerable

I guess you could say its one of those sets that just relishes the bonuses you can build with sets

    Heya, thankyou for the feedback.
I'll go through mids, see what I can do about AoE. I kinda want to leave razzle dazzle in Cobra Strike as it does offer AoE despite the fact it does more damage now. I think I was pressing too much on him in his current state, I don't have the passive regen that I would in my finished build.

Figured I'd post a build and make sure it is still ok to shoot for. In game it is 90% complete to where I am over the softcap already to Melee and Ranged, yet fighting romans, even after being buffed on an ITF, I still dropped faster than 'the team blaster' Now i don't quite have the HP and Regen that is in this build yet and I hope that makes the difference, or should I quit now and do something else?

    Quick stats,
    50.4 % Melee
    49.2 % Ranged
    39.8 % AoE

    Regen 306%
    HP 116.9%
    62.5% global recharge

  17. I have a few characters that fight carnies, they don't resist anything it seems, even my inv/axe tanker takes a heck of a chunk of their life away in a single hit
  18. well leaving Ambient Occulusion on and my Shadow settings high, /unloadgfx did indeed work. Now that was after I had logged in a few characters on one server to swap day badges, Later on I'll try it on a fresh load in and see what happens.
  19. What Saist said.

That 8800GT will never run ultra mode maxxed out. That is the card my wife now uses and we turned just a few UM setting on to keep the frames up and make it look pretty (she loves the water and the reflective windows). She is using a special edition released by eVGA. kickin card, but still an 8800GT

Hell my GTX260 (with 216 core) won't run ultra mode max settings, though I get close. I also believe its my dual core cpu slowing me down and am looking to update that VERY soon.
  20. ok guys, read though whats been going on, some are assuming the fault even though the opposite has been noted.

    Also having this issue.
    desktop nVidia GTX260(216)
    laptop Ati 1300

both using most recent drivers, both have the issue.
Will mess with shadows here in a bit
  21. now what if you were already fire melee? is the damage still increased?
  22. but yeah, i also agree, don't tie slots to the store!
  23. well i could have a place holder on one server, start the actual character on another, then when the issue is fixed, delete the place holder then transfer your toon! done!

    Fire/ Forcefield

looking into scorpion shield myself. Currently, my Fire/FF, I used primal forces, Power Buildup and FF bubbles, you'll have imps over the softcap under your dispersion bubble.
  25. Burn is now useful, FE is now useful to those that didn't take FM , neither helps you tank. The only real bonus I am liking is the change to consume. That was a smart change!
