  1. Thank you gang. Just wanting to know.
  2. I know there's more than a few FF experts out there so a quick question if I may...

Does Detention Field switch off Debuffs if cast on the same target?

For example: A target NPC gets hit with Radiation Infection/Enervating Field then gets hit with a Detention field. Does the debuff switch off or does it continue working as designed.

Thank you for the help in advance.
  3. As you might have noticed, there's a bit of ...discontent... at the moment.

Overall though, it's a good time for new/returning players. Beta is just about to start <soon> on i15, so more content is coming around. Also, you might have heard that the next major expansion has been announced. Release on that isn't confirmed yet but later this year is the current opinion.
The RP community is in good shape if that's your thing, and there's plenty to do in PvE for team or solo.

I think you'll find something to your liking.
  4. Dear Caves,

If you have a room that resembles a layer cake, you should be filled with concrete.

    Love ya,

Um...swapping carrots, and offering an alternate carrot are the same thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So we would have to chose between alternate carrot and direct carrot?

    Just a random thought.

If that was the case than add missions for the areas he's at.. like say if he's in the tiki room, have a mission dealing with the BP's, or if he's in the monkey lounge have a mission dealing with the Family,... or if he's on the dance floor have the missions dealing with the villains or patrons thats on the dance floor.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That does lead to a minor problem. Not everyone has access to the tiki lounge. Other than that, I kind of like the general idea.
  7. Took me about two years to get my <currently> one and only 50.
Number of hours wouldn't work for me since I Alt a bit. In all honesty, if it weren't for the introduction of VEATs I probably still would not have a 50.

I just had to have a widow.

So, in essence, the same as Blueside, except the "cops" are fair game, too? Are the various villains doing the same sorts of things they do on Blueside?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes but we don't need to feel quite so guilty about it.

[/ QUOTE ]My bad (but that was good!). I should have said "Are the various street mobs doing the same sorts of things they do on Blueside?"

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, they're fighting each other, lighting fires, tagging buildings, and generally lurking. At a few points there are active gunfights and Mexican Standoffs.

  10. Welcome to the great cosmic balance.

The world needs villains. More importantly HEROES need villains. After all, without villains what are heroes? Oddballs in Spandex running around beating up on muggers, thats what.
The Heroes need us to be the best opposition we can be. It's what gives their lives purpose and meaning. Without us they just run about for a bit then give it up feeling a bit silly and embarassed.
Being the best villain you can be means that they can hold their heads up with pride and say "thats right I just took down <your name> today." This benefits society as a whole and makes the world a better place....

Which makes it all the more enjoyable when you bring their happy little world crashing down around their ears.

I think you have me beat on available costume changes though.

PvP is a lot like going down to the public tennis courts looking for a friendly match and finding out that the only people there to play with are Rodger Federer, Andy Roddick and the Williams sisters. A couple of matches against any of them and you'll swear off tennis as a sport.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was almost exactly my experience. Once I learned that you could get Shivans as a temp power in BB I decided to pick up a set for myself. Not more than 2 feet outside the firing range of the redside guns, I found myself surrounded by about 4 opposing players and bludgeoned into a hospital trip.

Lets just say that getting mugged kind of turned me off on the whole thing.

People have never really PvP'd much in this game, and probably never will. In my opinion, anyhow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pretty much in a nutshell. Most people I know in game rarely, if ever set foot in PVP zones.

And no, improvements to it wouldn't change it. I personally loathe PVP in RPGs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personally, while I don't care for it myself, it doesn't matter much to me that it exists. I'm just glad that it's in very specific locations that must be intentionally entered. That makes it much easier for me to avoid the whole thing.

MARCONE UNDERBOSS <to freak>: I really do not want to know why you need to buy a hacksaw and five gallons of hydrochloric acid.

    um...yeah...
  18. Ok sticking my neck out here with a question but here goes...

What we're badges originally intended for?

I've only been playing MMO's for about 3 years now. I admit I was not there "at the beginning." What was the original purpose behind badges?

Were they intended as an "easter egg" of sorts? A nifty that you would find while exploring the game? This seems to fit the idea behind exploration/history badges that we have now.

Were they intended as a way of showing acomplishments to other players? This fits most of the other badge categories that I can think of.

I understand the system we have in place now and what badges can/cannot do for you, I'm just looking for a bit of history and perspective.

    Thanks.
  19. I think I could get behind this idea. Call it the RPer in me.

To me "play style" is how you actually play, not what aspect of the game you prefer playing.

RPing, PLing, PvPing, Farming, etc. are all aspects of the game, not the players.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pretty good point there. The only way to get into discussing that drives this thread into discussions of different AT's and builds and...and...and...
and, well we've got enough of that already.

But if y'all are willing to give it a shot, then let the ride begin.
  22. I like the basic idea. I'm all for democracy, but I can see so many ways that this could go wrong.

There's the issue of just who gets to be on this comittee. No matter who gets chosen, there will be the "why them and not ..." arguement.
In my mind is the bigger issue of "letting the inmates run the asylum." Even if this is meant as an advisory committee people will begin to believe that it actually has power. Once that starts the Devs will be constantly having to deal with "but the committee says..." or "the committee says you can't..."

Like I said, I like the general idea but I just don't see a way in which it could function as you suggest without making things more complicated.

Maybe I'm that mysterious animal known as a "casual player"
  24. double check on paragon wiki. I think that's where I remember seeing the new ones.

Direct copy from the paragon wiki article below

    Costume Change Emotes
The following emotes are all unlocked by purchasing Super Booster II: Magic, and will change a character's costume in a flash, amongst other effects. As with the costume change slash command, replace "#" with the numerical value of the costume slot to be changed to, from 0-4.

/cce # CCCast *: Thrusts out one arm like you are performing a magic trick, followed by a flash of light.

/cce # CCSpin: Winds up and spins around, creating a small tornado, followed by a flash of light.

/cce # CCLightning *: Reaches one arm up, and is struck by lightning from above.

/cce # CCPrestoChango *: Reaches both arms up, and you are surrounded by a cloud of smoke.

Note: These emotes will currently not work while flying, although the costume change will still execute after the animation time for the emote is up. Back Alley Brawler has stated that they should work while flying and will be fixed soon.
