I've had pretty good luck with ill/FF. Toss in a grant invis from the pools and you get another level of defense for your melee types. I decided not to use group invis because it seemed to be a bit too high on the end cost and the grant invis seemed a bit more functionable.
Be sure to take superior invis for yourself. This adds a bit more to your teamwork as it lets you hang back in support or take off as a scout if needed.
Just my small froggy two cents. -
Actually, I would like to express my gratitude to those market folks that have helped make cetain common and uncommon salvage drops worth far more than their base cost. I rely on this to help outfit my low level characters.
For example: The ever popular luck charm. If I sell one of these at the average store I get 250 inf. On the market I can get as much as 50-70K for these on a good day. For a low level character, thats more than enough money to last at least through DO's. Maybe even into SO's.
So, please keep driving those prices up. We're all depending on you. -

lets see if I'm on the right track here.
If I'm thinking right, petsay and beatbox are both considered emotes for macro purposes. A macro can only do one emote. If you put two on the string it'll do the last one listed.
Maybe this is where it's going wrong? -
One of my better soloists is Emp/Archery. The fighting style is very "hit and run" but it seems to work well. Add in Recovery aura and Regeneration aura later on in the set and you get a fair ability to stand and fight.
I support this project. -
what else is there to do in summer? It's too danged hot to go outside.

Quote:It sure took long enough. I was thinking we'd been forgotten this year.
No such chance. It's been 5 years since the trio, people have had just about enough time to forget.
Besides, there are two of them out there now.
Edit: oops, she already posted that. See I've forgotten already. -
Just don't get hung up on AE at first Raid. We've had a few people get a bit lost in there. Take your time, try out the mainstream content, don't be afraid to look like a complete nOOb while you get your feet under you.
There is no "best way" to play. If you're having fun without ruining someone elses fun, you're doing it right. -
Hi there welcome back. Lets take these on a little out of order.
We're nowhere near as "elitist" as the WoW boards in general. You'll find a few folks that are, but we're a pretty casual bunch. Honest questions will usually get an honest answer.
There really isn't an "end game" like in WoW. Content is good across all levels. This isn't really a "gear" based game so obtaining "stuff" isn't important to having a useful character.
Last estimate of player base is somewhere around 100K. Don't quote me on that though, my info may be a bit outdated there.
The game is as in-depth as you want to make it. It's good for solo and team play, you can find a fair sized RP community, PvP is easy to find if you want it (although many feel it's broken), You can change your difficulty easily, and there's a good amount of "side" features such as AE, market, badge hunting, ect. ect. You can do as much as you like.
At lv 50 there is still quite a bit to do in the game, multiple story arcs, high LV task forces, the AE feature which actually lets you create missions at your level. Again, you can do as much or as little as you like.
I think you'll findthis a much more comfortable place to play. Welcome home.
Edit: fixed a few spelling errors. I was in a hurry. not sure why. -
Quote:I had it in mind that it was a self only ability with a cooldown at least as long as the time you had it active. I wasn't seeing it as a simple self buff but an actual random power that you could use. Example: Your scrapper uses the mutant power and, for 2 minutes or so can use Neutrino Blast from radiation. It's at base damage, range, accuracy ect. for that character's level.I'd say while it has some merit I'd want it to be very, very limited in scope. Also, I'd say something that ONLY works on the character, not allies.
Something that has a reasonably long recharge similar to the teleport - since the other self-only powers available this way are very long - that gives a limited benefit. Perhaps extra critical percentage, more damage resistance, etc - that fades in a pretty quick amount of time.
If it were to be used on others, it should probably match in tone and timing, the Mystic Fortune power.
Now I could see this as having a limited number of random options it chooses from, similar to the finite number of options in Mystic Fortune. I could see using tier 1-2 powers only or maybe hover. The idea was a simple something that would not give a huge benefit but would still be a nifty. -
Just a thought that occurred to me earlier today.
For the special power in the Mutation pack we could have a "random mutation" power. I can see it as an icon on your powertray not unlike Magic's Mystic fortune. Activating this power will give you, for a short time (say 2-5 minutes), a random power that you can use.
This would function a bit like temp powers such as sands of mu in that it cannot be enhanced, it's effect is based upon your level, and it's recharge time would be the same as it's duration (i.e. only one random power in effect at any given time)
For example: I activate my random mutation button and a random roll gives me Flight. So, for a short time (say 2-5 minutes) I can fly. This strength of this power would be based on my current level. So, I could, as a lv 1 mutant, fly <slowly> for 2-5 minutes before the power shuts off (watch the clock if you're in mid air kids!)
Now, does this mean I could get something not quite so useful? Yes. I could get mutation or clear mind or something else that can only be used on an ally. That's part of the fun, you'll never be sure what you'll get.
I can see where this might need to be limited to keep certain powers out of the mix. Allowing the Tier 9 powers to be included in this might not be the best of ideas. But I think the basic idea might be worth a look.
Over to you gang. Let me know what you think. -
Quote:Hazard Zone restrictions are going bye-bye. Level 1s are getting into the RWZ not because they're super-sk'd up, but because the level requirement is gone.
It's no different than level 1 villains walking into Grandville or Peregrine.
Ok, thanks for clearing this up. I missed that somewhere.
It think it kind of devalues those zones a bit. I know that I considered it an accomplishment the get my character who hates Rikti up to lv 35 so that she can get into the RWZ and start dishing out some payback.
Cimmeroa- meh, not so special anymore now that anyone who can complete the first Midnighters arc (approx lv 10) can get in.
Dark Astoria?- so what? If you can get from the train station in talos out over the water...ok.
I don't really object to any of these ideas, it just feels like we're losing something distinct in these parts of the game. -
Another thought, If the auto SK applies to RWZ and other similar zones that currently have level requirements, and you are in one of those zones when the team leader selects a mission that is owned by a player that is not that minimum level, are you all dumped from the zone?
This might sound trivial but it is something to think about. -
OK generally good things all around but a question about the auto exemp feature.
Say, for example you have a team with a couple of mid 30's and a couple of 20's. You've just finished doing some lv 30-ish missions in St. Martial and are standing outside the door waiting to see whats next. The team leader selects one of the lv 20something missions for the next run. Does this mean that everyone now has to worry about the level of the mobs of the streets or does this only go into effect when you enter the next instanced mission?
If this was mentioned in the OP, I might have misunderstood. -
I know that the biggest holdover from other games is "The Trinity" and the thought that teams cannot succeed without "the proper team build." I've seen, and been a part of "broken" teams (all Defenders/all <insert At here>, ect.) that have been very successful. There really is no single AT that is wildly superior to the others in normal PvE play. Really it comes down to the skill of the actual player.
Another holdover from other games (WoW being the biggest example) is the idea of "must have the best gear to succeed." City doesn't really need that. A player slotting IO's isn't really that much more effective than a player using SO's in a PvE situation. Again, it comes down to knowing what you can do with what you have. Yes, you can gain some advantage from "teh Uber" but it's not that much.
These are just a couple of things that come to mind. Not having a lot of experience with other games, I don't thing I could write a whole guide but, amybe, we can come up with something as a group here. -
1 star= Seriously lacking in either content, plot, enjoyability, grammar or any and all of the above. This includes missions where a single minion is strong enough to solo the LRTF.
2 stars= Rough but at least showing some signs of effort. Fights at least try to be balanced and a rough plot or storyline is in place. A bit more work could make this better.
3 stars= Not bad. Pretty much on par with a Canon newspaper/police scanner mission. Fights are balanced, there's a clear idea of what you're doing in the mission, writing is at least spelled correctly and makes sense.
4 stars= Good strong story and/or character design. Missions are clearly defined and well tested. Fights are challenging for most builds. Roughly on par with most Dev created story arcs.
5 stars= Lets do that again! Either through good writing or well designed plots, the arc is worth another run through and recommending to friends. -
We (my wife and I) are actually thinking of trying THAT OTHER GAME <gasp.> Why? Well, mainly out of curiosity. Just to see what they've got to offer you know?
Does this mean we're cancelling our City accounts? ABSOULTELY NOT! No, our stuff is not up for grabs, back off!
There are some intersting sounding features in the other game that are worth a look. They might be the best thing since Krispy Kreme doughnuts or they might be total garbage. Only one way for us to find out. I expect that, no matter how good things are over there, we'll still be prowling around Paragon and the Rogue Islands for some time to come.
Edit: Besides, No Steelclaw=Fail -
Um, people, notice this? Dark Respite wants bases FOR FILMING! If I had what she was looking for I'd be all over this. Here's your chance people!

Quote:What was that old Karl Marx line....Opiate of the masses? A praetorian AE would be filled with state approved entertainment designed to reinforce the proper value of the state. Aaaaand..... eveyone who enters the building is subject to mind scans to reveal any rebellious thoughts and highlight those who could use "reeducation."You know, I just had a thought.
Will there be AE buildings in Praetoria?

Think of the absolute 50's paranoid communist propaganda magnified 100 fold. -
I'd actually switch it around to make is sonic/rad. this gives you some decent offense with the unholy debuffs that come with rad. Having said that, your original idea is still pretty good for solo and team play. Like some one else said, no toon is useless.

If you're on Protector and you happen to have an urgent question while in Atlas Park just look me up. I'll be the Gypsy Juggling near Ms. Liberty.
Welcome to the City. -
this has been up for nearly an hour and nobody has commented? Shame, shame on you all. (I have an excuse I just defeated the "traffic" TF).
BTW Steel, The last line of the Anti- Nemesis is a horrible, horrible pun. I anm deeply upset that I did not think of it first. -
Quote:And thats why. You are always You. Just like Dark_Respite, Steelclaw, (the legendary) Unique dragon, and several others around here, we know what we're going to get from one of your posts. But I AM a complete jerk to people all the time, AND a ******** to them all the time, yet they kept voting for me. They just keep on loving me no matter how I treat them.
I'm like Bill Clinton or something.
Snarky? sometimes. A jerk? Sometimes. Profound? Sometimes. But it's always you.
Thats what a reputation means, we have a pretty good idea who you are. And, in general, it seems the community approves. -
I think option J might be the best reply for this post.
