  1. I'm more than happy to spend money on fluff. It's fun and it doesn't have any effect on the game. However, I can't really get behind the idea of allowing people to spend real money on something that can effect gameplay.

My biggest personal experience with this concept was the Magic: The Gathering cardgame. With the collector card market that sprang up around this, the game became little more than an exercise in "He who has the most money wins!"
  2. Actually, you just hit the point I use for considering someone a new player.

I know that there are some people who get a good handle on the game after a few days/weeks but it seems to me that about the three month mark it starts to "click."

This is a purely subjective measurement since there are some players who are dumber than a bag of hammers and will always be hopeless.
Fortunately those people seem to be few and far between.
  3. I told you the straps on that that packing crate looked unstable but did you listen?

"Hit me baby one more time"? OK! (Kinda looks like Brittany to me)
  4. If I'm following correctly, you can get a discount through the day job badge. These show up in your salvage inventory and you're given the option of using them every time you change something at the tailor/facemaker.
  5. I actually agree with the school of thought that says that a scrapper should be as self sufficient as possible.
I've never been a big fan of "roles" for characters. You know, the "I am a tank therefore I exist to soak damage" or "I am a defender therefore I must never enter melee range" way of thinking.
If you think that this will work well as a Scrapper, go for it. I think it should be reasonably effective for most PvE work.
  6. I have a serious abuse problem with stiletto boots and the "uniform, open" jacket. It's almost to the point where I have a base costume design saved and then modify it for color when I start a new character.

I have to start hitting that "random" button more often for fresh, bold, new ideas.

All the city officials will take the weekend off. You won't be able to establish or maintain SG's. On the positive side, merit vendors will declare a special sale.
  8. They do work perfectly well in the other zones that are only there during the seasonal events. You can hop out of the ski slopes or after taking down Snaptooth. Just not in Pocket D proper.

  10. I love new players. When I find the few that seem to be honestly trying, I help them out as much as I can. I don't have unlimited resources but I'll give them the best answers I have.
  11. We've tried it here. Our verdict... it could be worse, it could be better.

There are some good ideas in the game. If the new bugs are ironed out quickly and the whole thing is managed properly, it could do well.

Will it replace City? Probably not. An analogy I've used elsewhere on the forums is "Coke and Pepsi" two fairly similar products which both have their fans (and detractors) yet have managed to survive in the marketplace. Despite what some folks are saying, there is room for both.

In playstyle, CO more resembles WoW that City in any case. WoW players will find the crafting, drops, UI and combat systems very familiar. It almost seems to me that Cryptic designed a competitor for the 800 lb. gorilla and not for City. If they manage to pull some players away from Warcraft, then good for them. WoW can take the loss.

I'd advocate wait and see. Those who feel like trying it out, go ahead. It cannot hurt anything. Just don't storm off of City with a cliche'd "I'm leaving" message. It makes you look a bit of a fool when you come back. Besides, we're not giving back your stuff.
  12. Heh, loved it. Kudos to the artist (s)

Well, not quite a jungle. Does the Everglades count?

I worked for a company that ran tours of Florida for travellers from Europe. We did all of the Orlando things plus runs down to South Beach in Miami and the 'Glades. For a while we did flights over to Nassau as well before that became too expensive to run.

BTW, people in your profession have, sadly, become too much a part of my life recently. I've filled too many prescriptions in the last three months.

Officially...no. However, yeah, it happens. I usually get to see things as they come off the truck so I've already made my shopping list before the books even hit the sales floor.

Back Alley Brawler= Michael Clark Duncan. No one else could play this better.
    Synapse= Will Smith. Why not?
Lord Recluse= Hugh Jackman. Because he looks like he could be buds with G. Butler. Remember, the characters were buds before they found the Well of The Furies...
Ghost Widow= Liv Tyler, mostly because she is hot...
Mako= Chris Kattan, because he needs the work.
Hm, most of my originals stayed. I like the addition of Hugh Jackman. I think he might actually do justice to the role. Will Smith? Yeah, I could see that as well. Liv tyler and A. Milano? well, if you have to...

Chris Kattan ? a better choice might be Agent Jenkins.
  16. I like a good mystery. Following a story and seeing if you can out guess the author can be fun. However if, like a certain TV cult hit involving a plane crash and an island, you write episode after episode of questions without ever providing answers, then you've just completely alienated me.

    to sum up:
    Agatha Christie=Good
Needlessly confusing TV island show = Bad.

In reference to the radio, I enjoy that whole arc with the exception of the "drop off the drugs" mission. I just dislike that map.

    I'm hiding here

Although Foo does have a point. It seems that the Nerdrage is falling like rain in other parts of the forum. (Heh, when isn't it?) But it's nice to know that there are some umbrellas and awnings to hide under until the worst of the storm passes.

<--- absolutely no good with the visual arts, but loves seeing the work of those who are.

  19. sorry, I'm not all that good with builds. I'm not that precise.

Anyone else have an opinion here? Feel free to jump in.
  20. I forsee a cast list as follows

Statesman= Gerard Butler. Because we need more SPAAARTA
Manticore= Nicolas Cage. More brooding is good.
Sister Psyche= Natalie Portman. Why? because somebody will think it's a good idea.

Back Alley Brawler= Michael Clark Duncan. Actually, I could see this one.
Synapse= ah who knows. some new comedian I expect.

on the other side of the fence

Lord Recluse= Ahnold. In his triumphant return to film
Ghost Widow= Kate Beckinsale. ok, I could see this one too
Mako= Whoever they turned down for Synapse.

No, I'm not serious here. Sadly, someone in Hollywood is already thinking along these lines.
  21. It contains two of the best debuffs in the game (Radiation Infection/ Ennervating field). Also you get an endurance booster (Accelerate metabolism) , An area effect heal (radiant aura), a resurrect (mutate), a targeted area slow (lingering radiation), a personal area effect hold, a big AoE stun, and even a power which allows you to use fallen teammates as a weapon.

The two debuffs alone can make just about any opponent beatable. Combine the others and it's almost unfair. Add to this illusion's phantom army/ phantasm and you're close to unstoppable.

Ill/rad starts off a bit slow but it makes up for it fairly quickly.
  22. The classic combination would be illusion/radiation. It's considered possibly the best powerset combination in the game.

I've had good luck with illusion/FF. Add a "grant invisibility" from the power pools and you have a great support character.

    others may have different opinions.

    Overalls?

Not sure I've ever seen that as an option. On the one hand it could be interesting. On the other.. OMG.
  24. Actually I'm not sure that this has been asked before. As things are now, there is a very limited number of idle poses for characters of both sexes. I have not heard if there's any plans to change this.

    Please tell me

I'll tell you most of what you need about the Lounge in Faultline. Find lift "c" on the map. At the base of that lift is a hidden doorway into the lounge. It's not a clickable door it's just very, very well disguised.

Thats all you get. It's more fun to find it on your own.
