Quote:I'm not sure it should be too hard to beat "Mentioning it well over 30 days later..." I think I'll agree with the poster quoted here. Please note this is working as intended and we are working on a more explicit way to advertise this feature in game.
Quote:I fully agree with this. This is important information. I would prefer to know in advance that I'll loose my stuff if I store it beyond a certain limit instead of being saved by general mistrust in the abilities of the people responsible for the creation and implementation of this feature.
Hm.. I don't think that's an over reaction, considering this was must know information. Was this mentioned anywhere at all before now?

Quote:Ya know the winners got three, six, or twelve months of free time in the prize package already right? These winners definitely deserved their awards. Good job to all and thank you for doing your part to improve the game! Personally I think you should get a month of free game time for it.
as per...
I *really* liked the winners and it made me wish I had the art skill to pull off my own idea a little better. Congrats to all! Enjoy the prizes and in game fame.
I can't wait to see these in the actual game.. and I also hope we get more contests like this, even without the hardware prizes.

I am going to be so annoyed with myself it it ends up being the 'other' location I thought it was..

For the last time, none of you quality to Go Rogue. Just drop it already!

Quote:Going to have to respectfully (if tersely) take issue with this post. You're saying don't add day jobs because... you already have them all? There's nothing in the game saying you have to try for all of them.Given that I'm at the last day job badge I can get, I can honestly say that if they NEVER introduce another day job location, it would be too soon.
The time it takes to get even one of these is 7 days to long and I rather be awarded for PLAYING than for time spent logged off the character.
You say the time it takes is seven days too long... based on.. what? The fact that you feel obligated to try to get them as soon as possible? And .. you'd rather be awarded for playing the game?
1) You're already rewarded for playing the game. How can you even imply otherwise?
2) What's stopping you from playing the game? Unless you spend 24 hours playing, you're going to get it sooner or later. Why are you expecting the game to 'not' add rewards because you can't handle not getting them as soon as possible?
Maybe I'm missing something, but being opposed to more options for ingame rewards because you've 'gotten get 'em all' as soon as possible seems a tad unreasonable.

Oh, can I be snarky too?
Quote:Fixed. The devs can't even answer good questions at their own con. Why should we think this event will be any different?
Non Question: I was wondering. When will you be able to fix what you broke with PvP?
Actual Answer you don't like: It's on the slate for changes. We have no time frame.
Q: What are the rewards for the Incarnate system going to be like?
Non-Answer: You will like them.
Q: Why aren't you giving us new information at all?
A: We're giving loads of information on Going Rogue. We're simply not giving all of the information away.
Q: You suck.
A: That's not a question.. no wait, sorry. That's actually better than your first two questions.
Since the first one 'was answered.' Or does 'non answer' mean 'any answer I don't like in your book? Not to mention, the question is kinda trollish and unimportant.
The second was a non answer. Then again, unless they're hard to obtain rewards that allow you to exploit them, I doubt hard core old school pvp'ers will care for them. :P
Just kidding.. I hope.
Seriously, you're confusing "they don't give us any new information" with "they won't answer every single question to my satisfaction. Which actually I've seen a lot on these forums.
It's a shame this thing is so covered in marketing hype. I'm not expecting anything really significant, either to be honest. But your post was just.. disingenuous.
That said, I do agree if the answers are posted on facebook but not here, and by a dev, it's a critical fail. :P Why?
Facebook isn't even a gaming site to begin with. Unless they're providing an incentive, it's annoying to think they should get any information, ever, before we do.

Eh, it'll get here when it gets here, but I look at that as being 'fitting' to the confusing, relative (convoluted) nature of time travel story arcs, myself.
Actually, I've had a crazy theory since we got the first bits of Going Rogue information that the next expansion will be based on "The Coming Storm," possibly with a tie into the much mentioned space station. I haven't figured out a scenario in my mind to tie the two together other than "Traveling to the future" though.
It makes a weird bit of sense in my mind. That'd give them a few issues to build up to it- they could even theoretically use the nature of 'alternate timeline formed' to tie into the creation of an alternate Paragon to use in City of Heroes 2, if such a thing ever comes to pass.
Time travel would obviously justify and open up room for any number of new locations, contacts, storylines and such. (And historically inspired custom weapons!) Throw in a time control style power and you might have an expansion worthy idea.
Or not. Like I said, it's just an odd theory I had a while ago.

Eh, personally I'd have rather had a mock announcement of a Wiiware City of Heroes game. Much potential for cruel humor there, too!
Quote:Honestly, I saw the 'visual sound effects' as one of the less convincing of the April Day Fool's. I don't remember too many people actually falling for it. Do you know someone who fell for that one? That was last year, Hawk, IIRC. FREEM! Is still number one in my book. Man people jumped up all over the WORLD to complain about that one LOL
I also found the DOS 'expansion' to be funnier.
Quote:Nah, their original idea was going to announce they had hired me as a community rep, but Posi put the kibosh on that since he wanted a player base around for when Going Rogue launched. -
Quote:Aw sorry to hear.. I got mine today via PM.Did you receive your code already? I've responded to Ocho's PM twice from my entry a couple of weeks ago and haven't had a response yet. I wasn't sure if there was a delay in awarding prizes or if I was just unlucky so far.

I hope you get yours soon!
I still can't believe I won, by the way.

Thanks! To be honest, I was rather intimidated when I saw the number of responses, a lot of which I quite liked. and I figured there'd be no way I could win! But fortunately, I forced myself to come up with something, anyway. I am glad I did! (My inner Becky Joy is smiling..)
Thanks too to whoever did the cute Forum Tag
I know I can't enter for a couple months but I'll be keeping an eye to see what those who are eligible come up with for the next few contests!
Good work all, and thank you for the code, Ocho!

Quote:Although I'll give you credit for writing an intelligent, well thought out post and one I partly agree with, I don't see how you can compare the prices between the two. City of Villains was, as you mentioned, a standalone game, but it cost fifty bucks when it was new- and more for the collector's edition. Which means although you could play it alone, if you wanted 'both' sides of the game, you had to buy City of Heroes separately.. I forget how much it was. Thirty bucks more for City of Heroes at the time?I would like to compare this to City of Villains - which, yes, before people point this out, I know was released as a full game rather than just an expansion.
I don't think it compare to Going Rogue, where a new player would get the whole package for ten dollars less. I especially don't think you can compare it to a current City of Heroes player buying City of Villains; there was no option to buy it as an expansion for less. Meaning that's a 20 dollar difference.
I'll leave it up to you to determine what twenty bucks means to you, but to put it in relative terms, Going Rogue's prepurchase is 60% of what City of Villains originally went for. I don't think it's fair to call that 'similar' price structure.
The rest if your comments cover most of it, but you've left out the fact the new zones are designed 'with' Ultra Mode in mind. It's significant that they've mentioned it from the go.
We don't have to 'assume' that there'll be new end game content; we've flatly and repeatedly been promised it. It's significant enough that our former head developer is putting it as his main focus. And they've revealed other smaller details, such as the layout of the city. Each building has its own history and name; when a mission takes place in that particular building, there's a reason for it to take place there. We could assume this means that it won't be given a random map, either. They've talked about the city's layout, and how the tower at the center is visible from all parts of the town.
If you're suggesting you're not going to base a purchase off what might be coming in the future, I'd agree. I felt City of Villains never got proper development and has suffered greatly for it. But if we're going to make a full list of what we know of this expansion, it might as well be a full list.
And from what we know, I don't think the comparison to City of Villains is fair at all.

Some get annoying much faster than others. The worst offender is the lissssping sssssnake egg monologue. Being as it's so low level, the only way to avoid it is not do contact missions until you can get contacts via the newspaper.
Then again, that one barely is ssssaying anything at all. (Also, it totally ssssteriotypessss ssssnakesssssss.

Quote:Eh.. wasted your time? You got a level fifty out of it, and you got your epic up to years before this change goes into effect. Those of us who killed ourselves to get to 50 wasted our time doing so. are we going to be getting some new epic that opens at 50 to replace the current ones?
It seems like offering a new Epic at level 50 would kill the point of a change in the first place, plus they've stated they weren't going to use level 50 as a requirement to unlock Epics in the future..
It does seem a bit low to me, but I am missing how it invalidates your actions and rewards in the past.

Quote:I'd take this one step further and suggest forget the popups to begin with. Offer a new item in the form of a guest book for players to click to get the designated supergroup message of the day. Especially if you were thinking to have the message pop up when players came i for the medical teleport, which typically would be in a different location than the entrance room. It's not a bad idea but it needs one change. Specifically individuals need to be able to to disable seeing them. Personally having to click on a popup window everytime I enter the base to craft or use the teleporter would quickly become an annoyance for me.
Then, to negate the fact you'd have to find the guestbook to see the MOTD, add in a 'guestbook' command that'd bring it up as a dialogue box.
Everyone wins. Except cheaters. Cheaters never win. (Unless they're sneaky.)
