I was under the impression this was an ornamental deck, not a tool for channeling our "psychic abilities". Maybe because the thought of a fortune-teller is a bit, well... laughable.

Thanks for the MA and SS vids. But I fail to see what is so exhausting about sitting there talking to people.
[/ QUOTE ]
You ever been to a con? It's stimulation overload. I leave those things drained. Granted, I've never manned a booth, so I don't know what that would be like, but I can imagine it's similarly taxing.
Of course, I get overloaded just going to the mall, so maybe I'm not one to talk. -

Martial Arts - probably my favorite among the batch of new stuff because there are a lot of new options.
Superstrength!
Earth Assault!
Enjoy!

These look great! Thanks for recording. I'm pretty excited by these. -
[ QUOTE ]
Here are two videos -
Earth armor colors (7 megs)
And Spines customization (3 megs)
[/ QUOTE ]
Very nice, I'm loving the spines customizations, though I'm a little disappointed that you're limited to earth tones for earth.
Now, what about those new MA/SS animations??? -
I've got good news! That gum you like is going to come back in style.

Some of the powersets, particularly Ice Melee and Fire Melee, have a bit of 'weapon customization' built into them -- you can, for example, use the default animation and colors for Fire Sword Circle, make it tintable as Fire Scimitar, or as Greater Fire Sword -- where the power still animates as Fire Sword Circle, but uses the 'weapon' from Greater Fire Sword (which is also tintable).
[/ QUOTE ]
This makes me wonder if they'll add other weapon options to those sets - say, take the model of the various broadswords we have and make them translucent. Those could all be used as customizations of ice/fire sword. You could do something similar with Stone Hammer. That would be awesome (probably not in I16, though). -
[ QUOTE ]
I want REAL power customization, not just the color palette change on SOME powers (though I am grateful).
[/ QUOTE ]
What would make it real? Animation swaps? -
Scrappers > Super Strength
I also want Scrappers > Ninjitsu, but you said only one per AT, so there you go. All the other ones I really wanted are already in I16. -
My #1 would be an improved PvE game -
destructible objects in normal missions both for atmosphere and utility,
pattern-based objectives in normal missions,
interactive environments (flip a switch to turn out lights, push desk in front of door, pick something up with a crane, etc),
throwable objects, large ones restricted to certain power sets (super strength, mind control, gravity, maybe others),
etc.
And most importantly, make it all available in AE (which would be critical for the devs' ability to generate that content quickly).
Not that the PvE game isn't really fun right now, but it's fun mostly because of our power sets, rather than because of the actual environments and situations presented to us. By improving that, you potentially crank up the fun factor even higher. They've slowly been getting better at it, but they could do a lot better. -

I was going to say "Oh it's raining where you're at too". Then I realized we're both in Brooklyn

Me too - I just got back from two weeks of beautiful weather in Europe, and it's oppressively gloomy when I get back. Oh well - gives me a good excuse to sit on my butt and do nothing but recover. -
As far as I can tell, Venture is the first person on the internet to use "Just a bunch of stuff that happened" as a trope. So it's not like you've been hearing this for years and Venture just has a certain spin on it. He defined it.
There is The Random Events Plot, which is similar in some ways, and which many people assume is what Venture means.
You may or may not agree with the weight he places on it in his reviews (I don't) - but if it means different things to different people it means they aren't understanding the term - because Venture has been very clear about what he means by it, and it's his trope. -

While it's nice to hear from Horatio, his letter leaves me with a question. He admits that rather than wait until it was ready, they instead rushed out a flawed product to meet a timeline without informing the playerbase that what they were experiencing was still under development and repair, and he doesn't apologize for it.
How is this an appropriate customer service model?

You must be new to the video game industry. -

Smoke Flash (Uhhh... Placate's not something for scrappers and their role)
Blinding Powder (This might work but it might not be appropriate)
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd be OK with giving up hide, but I absolutely want the Placates. To me, that's what would make the scrapper /nin set so cool - using placate as a mitigation tool. Not sure how it would work out in practice, but I certainly wouldn't want them to dismiss it out of hand. Smoke Flash and Blinding Powder would make a /nin set super fun, and if it didn't work out as a straight placate, they could probably attach a secondary effect to make it more useful for us.
I'd also be OK with just keeping hide in there, as it's just +def and stealth, and seems pretty core to the ninjitsu theme.
All in all, I'd picture scrapper /nin being pretty similar to /regen in that it would be a click-heavy set. It would just focus on mitigation other than +health. -
You might be waiting for a while. I'm guessing this is non-trivial to implement. I'd either work around it, fake it, or scrap the idea. Maybe we'll be surprised soon.
-
You can do this starting in I15.

When people bring up "We need more maps" I often wonder what they're talking about. Most missions do wind up on one of the basic structures, but our heroes are in a City, that's to be expected.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is kind of like saying, "well the game takes place in a desert, so you shouldn't expect anything except vast expanses of sand." Regardless of where the game takes place, it's the primary goal of the developers to make it fun. Part of that is the explorer mentality that demands variety, if only visually. Part of their job is to make the city variegated.
The other thing is, the current map layouts make no sense. The offices have multiple elevator banks going between two floors each, there are cul-de-sacs all over the place, balconies floating in strange places - they're nonsensical. The University map, although small, shows a better example of what I wish our office maps looked like.
The caves could be improved in a number of ways - with some large caverns with stalagmites/tites, some dinosaur fossils, some bats flying around, some big crystals, underground rivers and waterfalls - they could be made much more interesting.
Really, they just need to add eye candy and some new layouts. There's tons of ways to make city-setting maps interesting. They just need to get the tools to be able to easily crank 'em out - and I feel like the base builder goes a long way toward doing that.
But if you're saying that the core thing the game needs is game play enhancements, I wont argue with that. I just think the map variety is important as well. -

Just how big business works.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or small business, or a barter, or any kind of mutually voluntary transaction, really. -
[ QUOTE ]
Now, if the damage types came along for the ride with adjustments to other secondary effects, that might be more interesting. But to do so in a way that doesn't homogenize the powers themselves (the powers you're adjusting with the type-switchers) would be the tricky thing. I could see swapping DoT for recharge/slow and as a consequence swapping Fire with Cold, that sort of thing. But even that by itself doesn't seem interesting enough to base a powerset on. You'd want to do more.
[/ QUOTE ]
I just want to reiterate that I think it's a mistake to use the concept of "trick bullets" at all - I don't believe it's what people think of when they think of dual pistols, and I don't think it'll really satisfy that feel. If I want to roll up something like the Shadow or Fantomex, and he's firing cryo bullets, something's going to feel off there.
It seems like damage-type swapping bullets would be something a spy or gadgets powerset might have, but not dual pistols. -
Here's a type of customization that I think would be really cool looking, and actually add to game play:
Gimme an IO, for example a Melee IO, that adds a damage type to the attack. Either subs out a % of the old type with the new type, or just adds the new type. Let's say I put it on Slash, and let's say it was Fire. Well, next time I use Slash, my sword is on fire and the dude I hit catches on fire when I hit him. Ditto ice with the chill effect, energy with the glowie ball effect, darkness with the smokey effect, etc.
You could do that with all types of powers: add fire to Ice Blast and my ice blast goes blazing along, hitting the target with both the chill and fire effects. Add Toxic to my Photon Burst and they spew a brownish haze.
If they want to give me the ability to tint my powers' colors and its peripheral effects, all the better. I'd dig the hell out of a blue fire sword. But that's gravy.
There are certain powers that this obviously doesn't apply to, like Targeting Drone, but I think it works for the vast majority of powers. The buff sets would get a bit screwed, but maybe they can get something of their own.
I'll be super excited if we get plain ol' non-utilitarian customization, but I agree that it wont help to improve the core game at all. It'll still be awesome. -

Yes I said it. I am power-leveling in there. *gasp of horror!* XP Puritans, hit your "notify moderator" icons right about.... now.

Calm down. You'll live longer.
Have you been convinced that PLing to 20 wont get your characters rolled back? Or are you worried about that with these characters and doing it anyway?
BTW, I have no problem with you PLing in MA. And I'm positive it wont get your characters rolled back.
Now go play "Impossible Kung Fu Mission" and enjoy the hell out of it. -

Nope, he's saying that in PvP 2.0, if you prefer playing support characters, you might as well go play something that does damage instead, because you'll be making a more meaningful contribution that way.
