  1. I write recaps when :
    - I have something I believe might be interesting to read for others
    - I have time for that

Unfortunately, I often consider that some bits of story are not enough to write a recap, so would wait more... then see that waiting more are making them less relevant... and that, anyway, I don't have much time.
I was also mostly evacuating everything that is purely inter-character relationships, save maybe some vague references.
Not that what I wrote occasionaly was truly long but my preference goes to writing-post them during the day.
In the evening, I tehn vastly prefer to play the game.

Then, the "lack of time" is actually a lack of time during the moments when I would accept to write them...

The purpose to write them is to share, simply. Maybe it can create some synergy between players stories, maybe not.
It's also a form of advertisement for server wide roleplay.

I do read recaps that are about stories. A string of recaps could then form a kind of short novel, even if incomplete.
It is also incentive to me to integrate others ideas, and then characters' background, when I meet them in game.
(provided the story is of some public knowledge)
  2. [ QUOTE ]
Male characters have access to the Mesh Tights costume option - they can double up nicely as fishnets, if you're careful with matching colours.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Reminds me I wish I could use the male "sit" postures with one of my (female) characters, Stormrise.
  3. New faces were seen in Paragon City the last weeks.

Led by the blonde and winged Brunnhilde, the doglike Knuto, the green armoured Ardent Dryad, the mysterious Lady Allure and, word on the street says, was it the returned Apache Longbow Evie ?, formed a band of heroes who struck the Oucasts and the Trolls in the Hollows.
Officer Wincott said "As long as Brunnhilde does the job, I don't really listen her talking about spoils of war, fighting giants and monsters. And no, I don't know those Norns".

In Faultline and Steel Canyon, the grim and paranoid Darksparrow is followed by a sort of... feminine ninja... if ninjas were wearing very girly (but black !) outfits and a pink mask over the face (plus the regular black one)
The wannabe ninja is said to have told her companion, with a muffled voice : "Two mafks ? I am wearing two mafks ?" then proceeded to jump and run from one hiding place (or believed to be) to the other, a feat to recognize when one is wearing high heels.

The Eldritch Trickster, a stage magician with real magic powers, was seen quite often since two weeks (some said "battling with a sword wielding woman").
"And now ladies and gentlemen... the Great Wheel of Fire !" was one of her statements the most heard by burnt and battered Outcasts recently.
The Great Wheel of Fire is generally used in her stage performances, alongside with her other magic tricks like the Dragon Breath, the Magic Hand or the spectacular Fiery Skies.
She promised a new trick for the next week. It is said Outcasts are anticipating its arrival with glee.

Positron patronized a new and young, if not a bit reckless, hero, Sable Lynx.
The mutant clawed hero was fortunate enough to meet Love Angel and Mesoc from the Silent Tempest... and not meeting his personnal doom instead.
Running after "big fishes", Sable Lynx would probably have been sent to hospital with body and pride damaged if our two veteran heroes didn't save the day more than once.
A witness reports that, discussing with Positron, Sable Lynx said about Love Angel "Yes, she's a nice girl. But she is trying to stuff me with vitamin bars"
  4. Since her recovery, Nadia Forester, aka the Sword of Truth, is facing a totally new situation.
Detained during almost one year, she saw a copy of herself living her life since.
Her blooming love to Andre Kraft, more known as Coile, the Silent Tempest leader, looks now greatly compromised as the man not only lived a story with the copy but also had left the said copy to marry the vigilante Nightsparrow, now defunct.

The copy of Nadia Forester, eager to give back her life to the original, was given the "Sword of Truth" hero identity, as it looks most in the city now know more Sword as the copy.
So, the current Sword of Truth is indeed the copy.
The original, however, choosed to register under a new name : the Light of Truth.
While Nadia Forester is going to keep, naturally, her own civil identity, the copy decided, as a pun, to get as a new one the name Nadia Troy, considering she is a product of the Trojan Project.

At Pocket D, the apparition of the original and the copy raised some eyebrows and a couple of explanations.
The situation also generates some confusion. On the Silent Tempest comm channels, their voices are similar. They have both the same speech quirks.
Side by side, they are identical.
And finally, when one calls "Nadia ?", two are likely to reply at the same time.

Love Angel already found her own way to call them when they are both present.
The copy is "miss Nadia" while the original is "miss Forester" (probably also displaying the fact Love Angel feels closer to the copy than the original she just met recently).

Coile looked to be caught in a crossfire between the two Nadias, the original love and the one he lived with, but now looks a bit more confident, even when they are both present, since he talked to the original (presumably about his choices since she disappeared).

Mesoc, while doubting during a time about his own feelings when the perspective to have the original freed surfaced, renewed his claimed affection for the copy.

Now, while Sword of Truth (the copy) is still refraining from hitting the streets and fighting crimes, sword in hand, due to her chest injury, Light of Truth (the original and her new hero ID), despite a strangely similar injury, looks more than ready to pursue her career as a crime fighter.

When Sword hinted the team could use a new training session, Love Angel was suggesting to the copy to use the katana offered by Mesoc as a weapon.
And the same Pink Menace was also suggesting to solve the legal civil void in which the copy is by marrying Mesoc.
All of this being not really surprising as Love Angel looks to have made her personal crusade to have Mesoc and Sword together.
  5. Lately, the Silent Tempest made a third exploration trip into the old Crey headquarters by Eden.
Led by Coile, the pink Love Angel, the cigar equipped Mesoc and the alien Star Crusader broke in to suddenly face a horde of Rikti who had invaded the place !
Fights soon erupted as our heroes progressed into the complex.
The Tempest discovered Riktis reactived, powered again, this section of the complex, one supposedly harboring a device enigmatically labelled "XP portal" by Crey Ind.
Arriving in the main room of the said portal, to discover an old machine, and another round of fighting later, the heroes were told by a scared Crey employee that Riktis were given access here by the company. The employee, while shaken by the Rikti mental control process, confirmed Riktis were more or less invited. To what purpose ?

This question will stay unsolved as, turning on the computer station of the "XP portal", a curious mention appeared : "You have last logged as user : Truth and Justice".
The "XP Portal" was identified by the alien Xan as a device able to send people in other dimensions by modifying their quantum state. As opposed to regular, modern, and safer portals which are connecting two dimensions to each others.

Stunned by the revelation of the last user, the Tempest heroes soon realized that the missing, the original, Sword of Truth came here and accessed the station.
Studying the history logs showed the portal was used but the user, instead of being "moved" on the quantum level to another dimension, was kept into a loop and so in the portal buffer. The main reason being no destination parameters were entered.
The alien then underlined, by looking at the history, that someone else than the user had finalized the processs. So two people were present.

Now, to recover the last user (the mysterious "Truth and Justice") a password had to be entered.
    Login : Truth and Justice
    Password : ?

Coile instinctively typed "Andre" (his name) but, possibly to his disappointment, it was an invalid password.
The leader of the Silent Tempest then thought about a form of scanning device invented on purpose by the alien.
That device, made to reveal blood stains when tracking the injured Sword of Truth, was used over the keyboard, to possibly show what keys were hit by the last user.
Among the slightly stained keys, only "H", "E" and "U" were significantly marked.
And yes, it was letters from "Truth and Justice".

Still, after some thoughts, it was possible that those letters were common to both the login name and the password.

So Coile, finally, typed : "Thunderstruck" (his battlecry, like "Truth and Justice" is Sword's) and the hero accessed the user menu.

In the meantime, anticipating the recovery of an injured Sword of Truth from the machine, Xan was sent to get medical gear from a neighbouring lab, to fall in a Rikti ambush, or counter attack.
The critical intervention of Love Angel allowed the alien to come back quicker (and safer), the arrival of Mesoc sealed the fight in favor of the heroes.

Back at the experimental portal room, an anxious Coile managed to perform the various operations to reconfigure the machine, set the local place as a destination for the person in the buffer and finally activated the portal.

And a certain black woman fell on the ground from the portal, unconscious and wounded.
After almost a year, the original Sword of Truth was finally recovered.

Time will tell how she will react to the presence of the Trojan Queen clone living her life since she went missing, during a certain trip to Asia, during a certain Requiem War.

    Note :
The buffer thing is a voluntary ripoff from a Next Generation episode. I don't claim originality there.
It's an intended homage to Coile.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
((Band members will be in Pocket D from about 9pm UK time tonight. If your character liked the gig, they can compliment them and buy them drinks. If they didn't, they can criticise them and buy them drinks. If they missed it, they can just buy them drinks.))

    [/ QUOTE ]

((Ah, missed that thread yesterday otherwise I'd have at least acknowledge the gig.
At least, you got drinks bought by Coile after his future was predicted ))
  7. Back to the Crey complex in Eden, Coile, Love Angel and Sword of Truth cloned copy investigated most of the place.
Using a marvelous technological device made on purpose by Star Crusader, the trio tracked the blood stains of Nadia Forester, held there.
The early discoveries of Coile, McNamara and Brady tales, allowed to get a blurry image of what happened on that fateful day of late 2006.
As an unsuspected team of heroes from Paragon City broke in the basement of the complex, the Crey enforcer Chris Brady finally applied the "red procedure" and shot at point blank at the Sword of Truth, kiling in the process one of his fellow guard named Corey.
The Sword of Truth allegedly evaded the machine pistol burst, but to be hit a couple of seconds later, when she was blocked by the closed exit door of the cell area.
Probably left dead or simply overlooked, Nadia Forester wasn't recovered.
The current hypothesis is she finally moved out of her quarter, bloody, to an internal phone.
It seems she attempted to use it. Has someone got the call ?

After Coile found a control room, he was able to point at a possible destination for the wounded Sword, who obviously tried to go outside.
The destination, maybe oddly enough, was a part of the complex identified as "TrP labs", something Coile linked to "Trojan Project" as well as another section identified as "XP Portal".
There, our heroes found again the bloody trail left.
All clues looked to show Nadia Forester was getting medical attention here.

Spotting bloody footprints, the trail finally ended again outside, to the central plaza of the Crey complex.
But this time, with no real direction to follow. For now.

    There is still one mystery.
The letter found by Coile was left in the jacket Nadia Forester was wearing almost one year ago.
But this letter didn't have any blood stain on it, refuting the idea she might have left it deliberately after being wounded.
More, no blood stains at all were seen in the room where the jacket was found.
  8. Yesterday, a long long quest of the Silent Tempest has (almost) ended.
The continuous work of Star Crusader and Mesoc, methodically locating and closing illegal Crey facilities, has pushed the (in)famous company to use its last resources.

But then, yesterday, supported by Coile, wearing a battlearmour originally made by Steel Guard, by Phiseeque and Love Angel, the team tracked the Countess Crey, who was coming to visit and reorganize the company activities.
Located in Perez Park, in a network of natural caves (proving Crey was indeed lacking resources), defended by the last line of her security forces, the Countess refused to follow the heroes to the police station to answer questions and instead used unsuspected mental powers to wipe them all.
However, despite her treacherous attempt, the Silent Tempest held and after a long fight, was finally able to place the Countess into custody.

The last week also seen the last developments about the fate of Nadia Forester, also known as Sword of Truth.
Captured by the Council during the Requiem War, traded to Crey Industries while an experimental clone of herself made by Crey was saved by Coile, she was held and displaced regularly during months.
In late october 2006, detained in the basement of the old Crey headquarters in Eden, she was shot and left for dead by Chris Brady, a Crey enforcer currently residing permanently in the Zig.
This is the conclusion of the investigations led by Mesoc and Star Crusader, who protected a repentant Crey scientist named Anton McNamara.
Since, Coile visited the former Crey headquarters, found old winter clothing dating back of a certain trip in Asia.
He later discovered a worn, handwritten letter in the lining of the jacket, slipped through a tear in the fabric.

All of this, however, proves the woman currently using the name of Nadia Forester/Sword of Truth is indeed only a copy resulting from the Trojan project, precisely the Q clone (from A to Z), nicknamed "Queen" by Crey scientists always ready for a good joke.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Summa summarum: I try to mend my ways and post more often.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Indeed...
When I thought about typing something here, I realized it would be a long long post, so requiring a lot of organization and structure to make things clear for people who are not directly involved.

And, of course, the more time pass, the more you see how long your next recap should be to stay understandable.

Maybe the solution is to keep them "light" at times, only giving general events.
  10. So the 25/04. I won't be able to come unfortunately.
  11. Uh... and now I am no longer certain I'll have a Star Crusader to send...
  12. I'll try to not miss the next then, I have an alien to send in.

  14. I disagree with you but it's not the topic.
  15. GURPS isn't more advanced than M&M. It's just different.
But it isn't the topic of the thread.

You can use any Supers game. I don't think M&M is mandatory.
  16. ((Yes. Actually do what you wish))
  17. ((As Zortel stated :

    [ QUOTE ]
what'd your character be like if statted in a pen and paper roleplaying system? You can use any applicable one that you can accurately roll your character in.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I guess it supposes the exercise here is to simulate your CoH character, according to CoH abilities.))
  18. ((you don't need the extra Aura on Strike if you want to have Hannah deal electrical damage when striking. But it's good if you want to simulate CoH's Lightning Field.
You might also link Fatigue or Drain powers with Electrical Control to simulate the END drain of CoH.))
  19. After a period of intense activity and deep emotionnal and heroic involvement, many Tempest members felt the need to get some time away.
Coile left, cut all contact with his team.
When Freedom Corps informed Sword of Truth that the leader of the Silent Tempest was now without a license, the temporary leader of the team agreed to remove Coile from the roster (all Tempest members are registered).
While things are a bit unclear here, it looked some people at Freedom Corps were zealous to proceed in Coile license revokation.
However, Coile didn't reacted well to the news of being removed from the roster of the registered members of the team.
Again, the information about all of this spread like a wildfire between Andre and Nadia when actually, nothing could have happen truly.
Sometimes, fate helps a bit to move things ? Or is it fate ?

Facing what Nadia now see as hostility coming from Andre, she more or less abandonned the idea to patch up things or try to appease Andre.

Trying to change her mind, Nadia deicded to invite two friends for dinner, namely Diana Bright (Love Angel) and Malcolm (Mesoc).
But Diana, while happily helping in the preparations of the meal, made her strategic retreat and fled from the dinner scene quickly, invoking unexpected and mandatory schoolwork or other familial duties.
Such matchmaker tactic didn't prove to be useful however. While Nadia and Malcolm had their dinner together (due to Diana cowardly departure), it's finally only a loss for the "little brat".
An idea of having a party emerged in Nadia mind but the difficulty to get in touch with her team members recently made it impossible.

The Havoc brothers (Bone Fire Havoc and One Eye Havoc), using the Tempest base as a haven, had found a way to finally operate, concealed from view, outside.
One Eye helped Mesoc on the Kings Row riots problem.
Lately, Havoc (Bone Fire Havoc) decided to "stop hiding" and opted for Pocket D as his first night out since his revival. This, against Sword advice who was counseling to keep a very low profile and stay hidden for now.
With his brother One Eye (One Eye Havoc), Havoc had to run into Big Lunk and Echo Campbel from E.V.I.L..
Made aware of Havoc survival (revival) after Mugon (also from E.V.I.L.) attempts, Lunk renewed his threats while Echo barked at Sword, believing it was a proper way to get an answer.

Despite Havoc claims saying he "felt better" as he now stopped hiding, Sword soon expressed her angerness about this move, saying how it ruined many possibilities to learn more about Mugon while Havoc was believed to be dead.
However, Havoc was backed by One Eye and Fridan (Fridan V2).

Fridan is a warshade, according to his own terminology. Expressing his interest for the Tempest team, he had met Sword and Love Angel about half a week earlier.
However, the very nature of Fridan (a nictus-human hybrid), added to the fact he is following his instincts are making his presence in the team a bit unlikely on the long run.
From personnal reluctance to expected opposition, Sword still accepted Fridan offer to help, got him a communicator and access to the team channel. And now wait for feedback from other members.
The same can now be said about the Havoc brothers. Havoc and One Eye sounded to be willing to join the team.

One last guest at the Tempest base is Zian. Lost on our world, the girl was given shelter by Sword since they met in Pocket D.
Facing the possibility Zian might never find a way back home, Sword tried to persuade Zian to start thinking about her imediate future.
Zian, being a slave on her world, didn't really have a direction to follow.
Sword finally offered her to do menial tasks at the base or serve as a cook, all of this only to give something to do to Zian and hope she will learn and feel more at ease on Earth with time.
  20. The Tempest also has done some "training sessions" in arenas, on the occasion.
  21. Bart (Hand of Sorrow), Coile, Dustine, Kitalia, Phiseeque, so many Tempest members away, busy, having a break (or in Kitalia case, being in coma !).

During their weekly meeting, the Silent Tempest members Love Angel, Marisol (ShadowWoman), Mesoc, Subaiku and Sword of Truth discussed briefly about the situation in Kings Row (Leaflet!), troubles that Mesoc is trying to identify, fix, fight back.
Sword asked to keep an eye on Coile who, without powers, could be an easy target for past and present enemies.

Then, the meeting was about Zian and the Havoc brothers, namely Bone Fire Havoc and One Eye Havoc, also present at the meeting.
The purpose being mainly to make sure those three guests are no longer "unknown" by the Tempest members.

Sowrd then proposed what she called "something unorthodox", leaving the conference room and having a more informal chat in the base living rooms.

The discussion was first about Zian, her life on her homeworld, her condition as slave (even if apparently well treated).
Sword suggested Zian could be stuck permanently on our Earth and then she might try to start to learn more on her new environment.

After the lost girl left to rest (imitated by a tired Love Angel some times after), the discussion was again about the Havoc brothers and Mugon.
Bone Fire Havoc described again his nemesis and the influence network the villain is having, something apparently mainly based in Japan.
Sword disliked the idea to "strike at home" (Japan) that Bone Fire was promoting. She didn't see it as truly possible, efficient, or even needed to apprehend Mugon (who spend most of his time in the Rogue Isles).

Later in the night, One Eye showed a tech gadget he received from Freedom Corps (Sword having tried to get him a list of devices he provided). The said gadget was allowing to project a kind of stealthy field around him.
Used for himself and his brother Bone Fire, it looked the gadget was allowing them to leave the base with minimal risks to be spotted by Mugon agents (if any of them is still searching for two brothers supposedly dead).
Mesoc, who should already get the help from Marisol in Kings Row, was expected to benefit from One Eye past relationships with a group of hidden mutants, whose haven is in remote corners of Kings Row sewer system.
  22. Bone Fire Havoc and his following death, assassinated by Mugon and his henchmen, had started turmoil in the Silent Tempest.
From a kind of understanding his desire for revenge, to a rejection of the said revenge, as bloody as it could end, from the need to protect someone who was a victim to the rejection of someone intents making him not unlike the people he was trying to get revenge from... the whole event left the team in a ptetty bad shape.

Happening just after the return from the dimension where Coile and the Sword of Truth were lost, following the whole "Tempest virus" affair, maybe it was too much for a couple of members.
Coile, having lost his powers, went away for a time. On a one month "vacation time" as set by Sword.
Bart (Hand of Sorrow) was already expressing his will to have a break after the virus thing. With no doubt, the havoc incident just confirmed his decision.

On sunday, Sword, Love Angel and Mesoc came for the funeral of Bone Fire Havoc.
Some faces, known and unknown, were also present.
The funeral was quite quickly interrupted by a man who revealed to be One Eye Havoc , Bone Fire Havoc's brother, who was said dead.
'One Eye' contested the death of 'Bone Fire' and was almost ready to go over Father MacKay who was leading the ceremony at the site (Platinum Lake, Steel Canyon).
'One Eye' said his brother wasn't dead and was willing to open the coffin.

This proved to be too much for Sword and Love Angel who retreated away, Angel being quite shaken by such lack of respect for the deads.

While Sword was trying to comfort Angel, flames and bursts of fire happened at the burial place.
Soon, the news, brought by Tygerboy was revealed : Bone Fire Havoc wasn't dead (or resurrected, it's a point of view).

The newly alive Havoc brother was quickly carried to the local hospital, while Love Angel, Mesoc and Sword left for Nadia's place in Skyway, Astral District.

While commenting with troubled minds what happened, Sword tried to get news of 'Bone Fire' condition, in vain.
Until 'One Eye' finally called her.
The raised brother was in more or less healthy condition but was still lacking a home, a shelter.
After a discussion with 'One Eye', Sword made a point to know what 'Bone Fire' was asking. And he was asking the Tempest help.

Love Angel, still deeply disturbed by the event, stayed at her request at Sword's apartment when Mesoc and Nadia left to the Tempest base.

There, they welcomed the Havoc brothers, 'Bone Fire' and 'One Eye'.
'Bone Fire' apparently had to suffer a kind of injuring feedback and was barely able to speak, his throat sounding damaged.

In the base, 'One Eye' started the tale of the Ghosts team, the team of the Havoc brothers. Hunted, tricked and trapped by Mugon, killed one by one, separated.
Each of the brothers thought the other was dead.

'Bone Fire' looked to have lost his will to get his revenge, something that could only smooth the relationships with the Tempest and noticeably Sword.
'One Eye' was ready to leave and leave his brother to the care of the Tempest.
Yet, Sword pointed that if he was spotted and/or recognized by Mugon, not only the villains could try to finish the job once and for all but he might also reconsider the idea 'Bone Fire' was dead.

Finally, later in the night, when Sword left the base, both Havoc brothers were given shelter by the Tempest.
  23. Few days ago, the Sword of Truth met a peculiar person in Pocket D.
Alone, lost, somewhat frightened, the blue-green skinned woman called Zian approached her.
Intrigued by Sword skin colour, Zian asked why Nadia skin wasn't "whiteish" as others.
After a short confused moment, it appeared that Zian was from a completely different world and was suddenly sent to ours without an ounce of explanation. The process itself being mysterious.
Sword discussed with Zian and it looked that many, before, already suggested to Zian to go to Portal Corps and ask for help.
Yet, the lost girl didn't have, maybe because she was scared in this unknown world and reluctant to leave Pocket D.
Sword led Zian outside to Peregrine Island and the Portal Corps offices.
On their way, Zian expressed her dislike of the sea, which might be better explained by the problem of salt water for her skin, salt looking to be burning Zian skin.

Both managed to go to the offices without incidents. Sword filled a form, asking questions to Zian to see if her world description would match to any registered by Portal Corps.
Zian, who was able to write in english (and able to speak, due to a device or a kind of amulet she is wearing), was more and more depressed and somewhat angered by the questions.
After the first comparisons with the Corps database returned a negative answer, Sword tried to know a bit more on Zian condition.
The woman was, as said, alone but also homeless and hungry (only allowed to sleep in Pocket D and given some basic food there).

Sword decided to offer Zian to rest at the Tempest base while Portal Corps was comparing the informations she gave with their files.

When both arrived, they met Mesoc and Love Angel , the later being truly pained by the recent death of Bone Fire Havoc.
Angel still agreed to use her culinary talents and prepared a meal (without salt !) for Zian.
Zian finally went to get rest in the Tempest base.

Alien from another dimension or alien from another planet in the universe ? One thing is certain, Zian is an alien in our world.
