I was on my spines Scrapper in Sirens last night and was having fun trying to kill stalkers. I say try because if I could catch them I could get them easily but usually Id get a shot or two on them and they would run off and vanish. Only got killed once at a hotspot where I think I was ASed by two at once because one wont kill me. Did get Quason once because he was lingering over a fallen teammate too long. I pity the villain that gets my scrapper as a bounty because chances are I will be ont he list for a long time.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm guessing that was Quason and myself who dropped you then Mage, cuz I think we're the only two dang Stalkers taht actually work together there
Nice to see all these people who I don't know their toons' namesMost epic battle ever went to 777 and Winter Blaster since we both screwed up about 40 times over the course of one battle. I know I missed with an AStrike, landed a wrong attack on ANOTHER Placate, and he had a string where he couldn't hit me for about 10 minutes. It started to look like two empathy defenders fighting. Then he finally got on a roll and got me
As for Gulag, I was able to drop in at just the right time to take him down. As my AStrike started I could hear him yell, "S--t!!!!" all the way here in LubbockI just need to wear some anti-beanbag armor and I could take him down more often
And Gulag, I'm only Level 21
Looking forward to more nights of cashing in on ya'll -
I DID get to kill Lad! W00T!
Although that damn WS saw through me a couple of times and I never drew you as my bounty
Many props to those who can be good sports when they die AND when they win. This is quite rare, so I gotta give a lot fo credit for it. -
Nice to emet you too Arctus, and yes, he caught me at a horrible time. The couple of villains that were around kept coming up on peoples' bounties, and we were getting SERIOUSLY ganked for about an hour. So I had found some folks, including Yaquiro (who has the meanest freaking toon I've found...that SO needs to be a click!
) who wanted to try me one on one. Fought some blasters, an emp def who didn't realize I could one shot her (but was nice as could be and a warrior at heart), and a couple scrappers with about a 70% win percentage. That's counting the ones in which I could not start off in Hide. With Arctus, since he realized the situation he walked into right after he dropped me, he agreed to a one on one with me. Then he dropped me again because I wasn't prepared yet
so he was ncie enough to give me one more chance. Once everything was setup, he dropped pretty quickly, but he got his revenge by helping take me out about 6 more times in the zone. Don't think I ever drew him as a bounty again, so never went after him.
Also, props to him and the rest of the Watchguard members there for recognizing that it was turning into a gankfest to combat me and Quason and for pulling out to go fight at Hotspots instead. That's much appreciated and I'll be nice and only kill ya'll quickly in the future
Rizie is my arch-nemesis as of right now, since he's an /SR scrapper who can see through double stealth like butter. He's a very nice player and has agreed to two one on ones with me, one of which I ALMOST won. I have faith that with time I can do it!
Other kills today that I can remember included Datatron, Winter Blaster, papa, and a LOT others who, unfortunately, I can't remember their names. Sorry to all who I can't remember. And for you others...kill ya later -
I got Zebulgenubi (think that's how it's spelt?) twice last night, even though he had IR goggles...
And Zidan, get mad at Deadboy, he knew I was going to drop you and didn't say a word to let you know
For all who go into the PvP areas, please enable villain tells and broadcast. It's annoying when you ask me a question over broadcast and I answer it then see a broadcast a minute later that says, "Oh, so you're not gonna answer, huh? You really are a p----!" And yeah, I think I'm gonna start keeping a tally of how many times I get called that... -
And I got to land my kill shot on Deadboy
And he landed a couple on me
Damn TP Foe...
Also dropped the blid lion troller of the world. Got dropped the first time when I left him with 2 HP left, but I came back and exacted my revenge swiftly -

you punk some of my peeps are on that list you didn't kill drecken though.

Ironic you should mention this because I HAVE dropped Drecken... -

I like killing some of the annoying heroes in bloody bay when they start talking stuff to villains. What's up with heroes trying to kill people in the hospital and people zoning in, that stuff is pretty stupid. And all the higher lvl toons (33-50) talking stuff about killing villains, which are mostly slotted with Training Enhancements. ive already whooped 3 rated in arena for talking stuff in Bloody Bay
[/ QUOTE ]
Remember this antenna: The Level 50 Hero is coming to Bloody Bay for a reason. That reason is...they get PWNED in Siren's Call and Warburg. -
Cool, and I don't remember the full name. I remember that her blaster was a fire blaster and the other was a rad def or troller. That's all.

So far, the only heroes to evade me successfully have been Darkness Wraith

That guy is GOOD. I've only managed to kill him twice so far, he's got a way of just completely shutting me down.
In fact, I killed him earlier today and got the 5.0 rep bonus bounty from him in bloody bay. For a defender to be able to live long enough to acquire that bounty is amazing.
[/ QUOTE ]
He droped me once, other than that, he would just BS with me through tells and place a tar patch on me once in awhile to TRY to "show" his teammates where I was. I never finally dropped him and the only time I ever hit him, I was stuck without Build Up prepared and NO insp's on me. He just held me and left me be while he went back to the fight...
EDIT: Also, I just remembered, to the Lunatic Monkeys out there, I dropped one of your members on two different of their toons the other day in BB. She said she'd set me up with an invite since I could hold my own out thereThought that was very sweet of her (and I'll take her up on the invite on another one of my toons if it's still there)

I ahven't been keeping track of my kills so far. I took down every hero that raided our base the other night (my Stalker's name is Prevalence) except Dinah Might, who caught me without any enrages, but I was probably happiest that I did drop one inv/ss tank, a couple of Dwarf-form Khelds, and, with another Stalker, a Stone/Stone tanker. So far, the only heroes to evade me successfully have been Darkness Wraith, a dark def that I had quite a long conversation with because he found it hilarious that I was tormenting his team by talking in local chat the whole time while I wandered through their group, and the aforementioned biker celebrity chica...

I noticed that you did not mention the Placate issue from the other thread that a lot of us explained (not about being hit by ANOTHER guy, but by the guy we placate). Any news on your testing of this?
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately, it looks like he did mention this:
[ QUOTE ]
That is by design. Placate gives a Hide attribute, very similar to the Hide power. That similarity extends to damage breaking Hide, whether that damage comes from a DoT, Damage Aura, the placated entity finishing an attack it already started, or another critter successfully attacking you. Learning how and when to use Placate is an important skill for Stalkers.
[/ QUOTE ]
So... placate can be overcome by a quick jab at the right moment. Is this the idea? Whether it's in PvP or PvE? If I'm fighting a foe, and I go to placate him/her, if the foe starts an attack after my placate animation starts but before my placate animation ends, I'm screwed? Do I not have any protection from this?
I can see in PvP this might make for interesting strategy (someone else somewhere called it an exploit, and I at the time agreed, but I think I withdraw that). Since placate is so powerful for a stalker, since you get another chance at criticals, or even better AS, it's a nice idea that someone with good timing can keep you from getting to it.
But in PvE, this is just annoying. You click off the placate, you sometimes start the placate animation, then the foe starts to, say, do a quick punch, and your placate doesn't leave you hidden. It's not that the mob fooled you. They didn't punch you because they saw your placate going and decided to stop you. The just happened to punch at about that time. Even if you get good at waiting to use placate until you think an attack isn't coming (and trust me, I'm definitely starting to get good at this), there are a lot of times when a mob can throw off a power, especially brawl-like punches, that are almost imperceptible until you are hit, and it's a feeling of "I had no idea that was coming". It's frustrating to play with, honestly. It makes sense for it to happen in the system of stealth and agro that you have defined, but it doesn't feel good.
Have you ever stepped back and looked at maybe redefining the stealth/agro system a little bit? It seems like it wasn't designed to handle a character like a stalker, and as stalkers are being shoved into this system, there are things like this that keep coming up that can be thought of to be working "as designed" that just don't feel right in the spirit of stalking.
[/ QUOTE ]
oops, missed that. Learning the timing is cool, and that's fine regarding the attacks that have already started. How about attacks that start during the animation? This is where it can be exploited during PvP just by having a quick attack and paying attention. -
Thank you very much for responding _Castle_!
As for it being related to ambushes, I really think I would be the LEAST likely person to receive an ambush because I've yet to run a mission. Not on a team, not of my own. None. I have strictly stree-hunted by myself through Mercy, Port Oakes, and now in Cap Au Diable. This problem has ONLY occurred in the Oil Spill area of Port Oakes so far.
Thanks for the attention so far, and I'd be happy to show it to you in-game sometime if you would like to see it. Hope we can find a way to get it addressed! -

So... the sequence everyone seems to be talking about is you placate someone, so that's #5. Someone else attacks you. That seems it would invoke #2, so you are not longer hidden. Because of #4, you don't get special treatment with the foe that was placated. Yet, you want to be able to do #1. It really seems like everyone bringing this up is asking for:
A) placate to de-agro everyone
B) placate to cause #2 not to happen for some amount of time
C) placate to allow for criticals while not hidden but placate is on, or
D) #4 not to be true.
Is it one of these that people are asking for? Am I missing something here? It seems to me this is working as designed. Now, that's not to say that people don't have reason to object to the design. So, I guess I'm asking, do people see this as a problem with the implementaiton of the design (i.e. a bug) or is this a problem people have with the design itself?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, that's not what we're saying. Instead, this is the scenario:
I'm fighting 1 Blood Widow by herself. I AStrike her and then scrap with her for about 15 seconds. I use Placate and just after I finish it, she does a Slash attack. She hits me with the attack and it unhides me. But, she looks around and de-agros because the Placate was successful. Unfortunately, I'm now considered "not hidden" even though she can't see me any longer. I now cannot land another crit/AStrike because I'm not regiatered as hidden. That's the bug.
This can be exploited by someone learning the graphic for placate. Just, as soon as you see the stalker starting to wave his hand in front of your face, click and attack. If you hit with it, it will "unhide" him. You won't be able to attack again because you'll be placated, but he also won't be able to crit you because the placate will wear off after approximately 8 seconds, while the hide will take 10 seconds to come back. Thus, easily exploitable to make placate useless in PvP and an annoyance in PvE. -
Based on only having 79 posts, I'm guessing you're only in CoV (could be totally wrong, so no offense intended). Trust me, the civilians in Peregrine Island around Ghost Falcon (the ONLY Enhancement Salesman in the zone for Level 40-50 Enhancements) will make you FAR angrier...

I'm Level 14...and haven't done a mission since Breakout
I am going to just solo hunt my way to 40 with this guy cuz it's so fun. In Beta, I was doing this all the way until Level 19 (my highest since I wasn't focusing on one guy), so I've got spots set up until 24 at least. Anyone who finds a place where there's a large conglomeration of solo villains at higher levels than that, let me know -
I'm glad that I'm not just going insane here. I know they claim to have fixed the AStrike bug from Beta, where it was causing a larger agro bubble than normal, but I'm also suspicious of this when it comes to Lts and Bosses, since I can AStrike someone with a minion nearby that's a seperate spawn and he won't move. Do the same thing with a Huntsman nearby and that guy sees me MUCH more often. Not my biggest concern, but the Port Oakes agro bug is rather anti-streethunting atm...
-
Yes, I initiated the combat with Slash and got the same issue. Actually, for my later tests, I did it with Slash to make sure I didn't kill my enemy. And it has ONLY happened in Port Oakes so far...
-
This is a really tough issue for me to /bug, so I'm hoping _Castle_ gets a chance to look at this. It's not impossible to avoid, but it really seems to be a problem with that zone/area...

I posted a screen shot of how this move usually ends up looking like I'm performing a colon examination. Well whether you saw it or not, I'm wondering if it is in fact feasible to change an AS graphic or not? It doesn't _have_ to be something new, but how about something less.... intimate?

Just shout "Kanchou!" when you do that attack.

Beautiful! Castle comes with a sense of humor too! -
Posting this in the Stalker Forum since I have only tested it with my Stalker. I was hunting in Oil Spill by myself and accidentally agro'ed a Wolf Spider Huntsman when I AStriked another mob. So I ran. And ran. And ran.
He proceeded to follow me over 3 miles before I just took him to an Arachno Bot for deletion. I wasn't fighting for any period of this. Just running until he completely faded from my screen and I lost the ability to target him. Then I'd go another 50-100 yards and stop. He would then reappear and the chase would continue. He also was never able to get close enough to shoot me again.
So I decided to test this.
I was able to pull a Penumbra the same way. A Hellion Buckshot also never gave up. So then I took a Penumbra out to the sunken oil liner and took off from there. I reached Oil Spill and he was already out of my screen, so I kept going. All the way to the Northeast corner of Port Oakes. No sign of him. Tried the same thing with a Hellion. Same result. Tried the same thing with a Huntsman. Same result. Then I went back to hunting and leveled. So I went to the arbiter and leveled up.
I got 50 feet from the arbiter when all three (Penumbra, Hellion, and Hunstman) jumped me and beat me down harcore.
Now, I can't verify that it was the SAME ones as the ones I lost, but I know it wasn't a mission ambush because I don't have any missions. Haven't done a single one. Have strictly solo hunted.
Went to Cap Au Diable and tried the same tests. Nothing ever followed me after they dropped off my target ability and graphically out of my range. Tested it on Huntsmen, Luddites, and Goldbrickers. So...
Is there an agro bug with Port Oakes?
