  1. No, no, that's an excellent question indeed. Don't be hatin' to ask it.

Also, can I DVR this event so I can play it at 7:30p CST? That'd be cool.
  2. Nemesis in CoV are found on the northeast and northwest corner shores of Grandville. 43-46.
  3. What, there are different ones depending on your origin?

Interesting. Never thought about it, or knew it.

Although, to be honest, I don't think it'll be the end of my world if we didn't get them all, but yeah, maybe at some level (50), they all became selectable.
  4. I too am intrigued by this idea. A defender set, no doubt in my mind, but a possible controller secondary with lesser effects, maybe, but definitely defenderish in nature.

Now as to whether a villain side would exist... hm. Maybe a mastermind... but I kinda think that'd be 'power of the gods' like. So a corruptor, possibly.

But yes, I do like it.

Read my sig, thanks, since you're here, Aeon. But great ya are still working on the thing!

/would say 'Dr.' but, I'm trying to antagonize him a little.
//Don't think a new thread on the below would matter much...
  6. I generally don't, but one I always seem to want to have Hero side, just to have, is the Firefighter pack. Either one. Don't care.

I especially like defeating a firey demon and then stand near him (or her?) with the pack on, and take a picture.

    /yes, I'm easily amused. So?
  7. There's other factors to consider:

    Cable
    Network interface card
    Router/switch it's plugged into.

Of course, that's all assuming it's a wired connection to begin with.

I remember there was a post a few whiles back where machine A worked fine until machine B was plugged into the network, then machine A got kicked. This is what it sounds like is going on here, except the plugging part, as the machines are both on.

I'd be throwing in a cheap NIC card for testing purposes and replacing the cable, as well as moving to another port on the router. I'd be going solo for testing then plugging int the 'working' one to see what happens.

I'd also be going to http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php and optimizing my internet settings, if not going to http://www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php to see what potenitally isn't right.

I'd also be turning OFF the QoS for testing. I've seen that fix a few here and there.

And I'd also maybe check my router settings on the max packet size to make sure it's good with my connection too.

Because it's all in the house, and all what I says are possibles. Now, as to how much you can do any of that with Vista and Win7, I dunno, but in XP? Rock it all, no sweat.

    Hope that helps!
  8. Oh, I don't know about that laptop thing... With a budget of $2000 this can be had, and still have money in the bank:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834114804

I daresay it would probably do pretty well in Ultra mode.

/I'd put the top 2K one I found... but it's a Sony, and they are verboten in my book.

    Doppelganger MM?

Like the concept! But I think it's already covered as you point out in Thugs. So...

How about, just for immersion purposes, reskinning the thugs if desired to be your clones? I like what you say about the echos/copies/doppleganger effects, simple, effective.

    It'd be like power customization.

    /Just thinkin' out loud.
  10. Mine is still ongoing... see my sig.

/Yes, they are bugs... go look for yourselves.
//'Favorite' because it is my only, and I harp on it just a little.
  11. Then do this.
    /bind F7 "say Ready! $$ emote thumbsup"

Don't think you have to unbind it to change it.
  12. Depends on the character. However the powers and/or bio go, so goes the character.

My absolute favorite is TP, and I'm really good at it. Mouse2 and Ctrl-C at the same time, aim, click, see ya! repeat Ctrl-C,Aim,Click until there, and then Mouse2 again to mouselook.

    Simple.

But honestly, it's character driven. Origin, powers, bio, all go into the decision, and once made, it's right, and I won't change.
  13. Welcome to the fold! Please examine my signature, and thanks in advance!

    /shameless, I know... SO?!
  14. And so goes another great one, off to pursue whatever else has struck their fancy. One can hope that the pursuit is a good and rewarding one, but no matter what, we wish them well on their new journey...

Or, more simple: Gratz on your new job! Be well, Niv! Don't be a stranger, but we get it if you get more distracted "over there"...

    *waves wistfully*
  15. Not in Beta, but now is curious...

*runs CoH version of test server, listens to music.*
    *Adds -cov to it, listens.*
    *runs CoH live*
*adds -cov to it, runs live again*

Interesting. Subtle change to Heros. *Really* subtle for Villains. Biggest thing I noticed right away... they don't sound nearly as 'in your face' as the old ones, but... that could be a volume issue. As I'm not in Beta, I can't change volume settings (Hey, Devs. There's something we could use... 'pre game' settings.)

Same cues, just softer sounding... and it sounds like it's more... live symphonic. As if the old ones were synthesized orchestra, and this one added... real, recorded instruments to it? Interesting. I don't mind the change to live instruments (or an upgraded synth that made it happen to sound that way.)

Hope I get into Beta so I can play with the volume and really compare... I'm not sure I like the change, honestly... again, perhaps it's volume. But the new ones don't sound nearly as exciting as the old ones, if what I suspect has been done is right...

Still... that they're even paying attention to the music... that's extremely exciting from a 'ooohh... if they're doing that, what ELSE is going on in there?' kind of way.

    /"Open, Open, Open..."
  16. Just wanted to report in... this is an outstanding arc! Love the way the clues were used to help the story along... good story... good maps..

I could have used a level bump up to 50, honestly, as that 10 level is really... limited. Still, Homeslicer went right on through it, no real issues.

Now, if only the outdoors maps would get fixed... See below, Aeon!

/that's right, I'm callin ya out, 'smartie.'

Ditto. The challenge is worth the torture... if you can win, that is.

/Looks like 'lowe' outside the editor...
  18. I've been out of the loop on this stuff... is it still kosher to recommend a dxdiag and a hijack this log or is this the realm of CoH Helper?

    http://home.roadrunner.com/~dasloth/CoH/CoHHelper.html

Either way, I think more needs to be shown here about that computer's workings.

    /Or am I "old" now?
  19. Think it's 57 months, in .50/day increments. Plus a few extras, and CoV and when it's out GR.

And I bought an upgraded computer.

    And I bought another one.

And I'll buy yet another one for GR.

And what do I get for all that expenditure?

    Fun. Worth every penny.

/Same for the motorcycle and car.

The biggest problem Co* has is that I have to work and do other stuff which prevents me from playing it.

    ---

To be honest, I don't really have any huge, breaking issues except the obvious ones:

    1) Lag. Incessant lag in certain things, such as the valley in the ITF. I would simply *love* to mow down all those enemies "just because" but it'd just simply be horrible to do. Hami lag. Any of that kind. Power lags too.

    2) The fact that unlike the ferries in Villains, the trains have to be *waited* upon incessantly... except the ones that are borked into never leaving, so they're always there. Like the Kings Row one is (was? don't remember just now.) Make up your minds, Devs... and I'd lean towards the 'always there' plan, myself. Or make the ferries actually move around. That'd be neat to watch... but take hours to play. Ugh.

    3) The outdoors maps and map preview in AE are horribly broken in so many ways that it'd take too long to list, but suffice it to say that it's a gigantic deal in my book.

    4) Zone toggling. That's just plain annoying... and potentially deadly.

    5) Vet Buff pets are seriously weak, scrawny, puny little things, and need more Hit Points. Badly. I really wanted to say they're "weak ***", but the filter won't let me.

Honestly, that's all I got. Doesn't hinder my enjoyment, but it'd be wonderful if they were addressed sometime.

    Generic Rant

witty comment upon last post that directs a new tangent topic in the thread.

    /slashy tangential comment
//second slashy tangential comment, slightly different 'angle' from the first slashy tangential comment
  22. She's my first trainer, I'm her level 50 hero coming back to celetrain.

    /celebrate+train.
//yah, I made it up. So?!
  23. 13% CPU. Wow. I need me an i7 bad.

/as long as it works, fast, it doesn't matter, that is very true.
  24. Since the beta's now open, I decided to test things... and indeed, they're still broken.

I didn't really expect to see any changes, honestly, but I thought I'd point out that as of just a few minutes ago, indeed, the outdoors maps in the Mission Creator:

    1) aren't showing up right in the preview, either zoomed out and placed in the upper left, or just plain not there at all.
    2) there spawns are set in areas outside the actual map, which will make missions impossible to complete in certain cases.
    3) same spawns are shown *and used* for wildly different maps that shouldn't fit them.
    4) The question marks.. you guys/gals do know those little dots are question marks, right?... aren't sized where you can see them.
    5) The back/middle/front locations... aren't... even if the spawns match the map. You cannot reliably place something in the back or middle to fight to.

And 6) there's no map preview zooming for any of the maps.

Lastly, 7) The colorations of the white spawns blend in with some map colors such as Atlas. Kinda hard to see where your potential spawn might be... although as per 5), it really doesn't matter does it? Just one of those things...

Just in case anyone wanted to know. Slightly disappointing, but again, didn't really expect this to change for I17. Perhaps I18? I have an epic story that's wasting away due to this tragedy of brokenness. Y'all are missing out.

But, Dual Pistols are pretty happening, I have no complaints about those. When do the Demons show up?

    Issue 17

One of the hardest, *hardest* things about Co* is the waiting when told of new stuffs.

The second hardest is the realization that indeed... it's not right, and won't be fixed anytime soon, and you'll never be able to play it the way you thought you would and planned for...

/I'm lookin' at you, Outdoors Maps in the Mission Creator.
