Also, Charlize Theron is the evil queen? Come on, who would ever think Kristen Stewart is more beautiful than Charlize Theron?
This is sounding worse and worse.
/'ceptin that, though... yep, agreed.

...that after 6+ years and all these characters, and therefore names, that are being used on the servers, that I can usually still come up with a name that nobody has on the server in question without much hassle or time or effort.
Example, tonight, after rolling an NRG/Elec Blaster Praetorian (who's gonna be a Villain when he grows up to 20, then'll go Rogue...), I picked the creepy elongated grinning alien helmet, and put creepy goggles on him. And gave him a weird light blue-steel look', and gave him big tech gloves. Just to creep people out.
And I wanted to call him 'Creep', but of course, someone has that. Then I said ok, how about 'Jeepers', playing on the song? Nope. Well, how about 'Shudders', 'cause that's what people will get when seeing him, yeah?
Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Well, I did put the 'The' in front, so technically, it's 'The Shudders', but the NPCs dont say that. Just 'Shudders'. Still... nifty!
I'll come up with a Bio soon enough, but... there it is. I woulda thought for SURE a buncha someones would have it on all the servers by now...
Anyway. Thought I'd share. 'Night. -

He's not telling you WHAT to do, he's telling you HOW to do. As in: Your method isn't very good if your computer is lagging.
I use, for example, to fire caltrops, heals, anything I don't want to 'normally' do the actual Ctrl+ or Alt+ on the keyboard (Alt-3 and Alt-4 are my mains) , or bind Ctrl-C for travel power (such as teleport)
Using the Ctrl-C for teleporting, I tap those on my keyboard, and use the middle mouse click to bring up my cursor to say 'where', click it, middle mouse click to get out of the mouse cursor and back to mouse look. All in about 1 second's work.
Some are better at TP than I am, but I'm really really good at it this way.
The other issues, and honestly, this one, are *definitely* computer system capability related, every one of them, and you need to either post a new topic for this in the technical area, or you need to post a new topic for this, and then POINT TO this thread so you don't have to retype it.
Either way, this isn't the right place for the help you want.
Oh, and in the tech area, there's stickies. Read them, they're helpful, and may just point to exactly what your issue may actually be.
Good luck to ya! -
The idea being that if society wouldn't fight all the dang time, maybe it'd prosper and do good things(tm).
Of course, there's always flies in the ointment... and the new Avatar will save the world. Again.
/hope it's good, but lightning twice... -
I'll run them through with Homeslicer. After seeing your trailers and your stories, they should be fun.

Quote:This is a fantastic point, and I just wanted to say that.People still talk about Tasha Yar. As Oscar Wilde said, "It is better to be talked about than to be not talked about."
Put another way:
"Will you ride with me, son of Arathorn? Maybe we shall cleave a road, or make such an end as will be worth a song – if any be left to sing of us hereafter."
Shocking or not, if the death is worth retelling later, then it will have been a good death. It's up to the devs to make sure that it IS "worth a song".
Quote:It's possible for death to give cause to recall the life and actions of the deceased and render meaning to it thereby. If you are American and I mention Colonel David Crocket dieing at the Alamo, you probably end up thinking about a lot more than just a guy fighting for his life and losing in the end.\
Now, there's death and there's death, also. Going just by the published comics, the entire Phalanx has died once and Manticore and Statesman have each died twice (each at the hand of Manticore, go figure). Personally, I'd be pretty disillusioned by the old switcheroo gambit but it's not like there's no precedent for it.
Likewise, the death of Cyrus Thompson shows how a throwaway secondary character can practically become a signature character as a result of his death, but moreso because of what that death symbolized about his life and beliefs.
Is there room for bad storytelling? You bet there is. Is it a guarantee that there will BE bad storytelling? No, and I sincerely hope that what we get is a lot more like Cyrus Thompson, or even, if we must, like Manticore sacrificing himself because it was the only thing left to do after he already gambled his friend's life and lost.
My fear is that we'll end up with something like issue 20 of the comic. I give a lot of kudos to Matt and Co. as game designers, but as comic book writers, I'm sorry; they left rather a lot to be desired.
That aside, I think that that relating the death of a signature character (and "signature" does not necessarily mean a member of the Freedom Phalanx or the Vindicators - I have a feeling that a character like Azuria could generate a lot of sympathy if it was written correctly) can also be a way to reflect upon the life of that character as well.
Spock dies in II, but it's a CBD, and he comes back in III. But what a sacrifice, which is exactly how you should go out in a story. Not like Midshipman First Class Peter Prestion, Engineer's Mate, SIR! who goes out for no other reason than to be a foreshadowing of what the entire crew will have to endure later. (although I DID remember the quote.)
So, that being said... who says it *has* to be a Primal character, or for that matter, a Hero/Heroine?
The problem is... who can be gone, doesn't change much of the game and it's lore overall, but still has an impact? Oh, I got one:
Mynx.
That's right, I said it. Mynx. She's a hot head, always trying to prove herself, and doesn't do anything but train heroes in the game.
But she's somewhat renowned, and her death would be fantastic in that she probably would be doing something incredibly brave, sacrificial, definitely martyr-like, but nonetheless endearing, in that she sacrifices herself to save someone else, probably Synapse, if not the entire Phalanx, if not the World, if not the Universe, by golly... by just being her hot headed self.
Reminds me of an already canon character we all know: Hero One. His actions spawned the reason that heroes didn't have capes for a couple of years when the game started. (Contrived, true, to explain the lack thereof in game, but still.) He was so important that when he was brought back as Honoree, it was awesome, yet sad... but still exciting to see the character nonetheless.
Anyway, I'm goin' with Mynx. 500 monies on it.
/Thought about Ghost Widow, but her story wouldn't allow a sacrificial story to mean any thing. The sort of 'oh, at the last, she pulled a Vader/Anakin moment.' thing wouldn't fit. -
Language skills: IF the PB is taking over a working Clockwork, then it's possible that one of several things happen:
1) The CWK is totally lost to the PB's taking over, so the PB talks normally.
2) The CWK attempts to assert itself every so often, but mostly, the PB is talking in it's normal fashion.
3) There's a corruption of the PB and CWK to a Reeses PB Cup type thing, and both are assertive and submissive... i.e, the language is mixed.
4) The CWK's circutry is so messed up for the PB that it actually winds up overtaking the PB's conciousness, but gains it's power. There are two outcomes:
4a) The CWK wins completely, it talks CWK, but is a seriously messed up one versus a normal CWK.
4b) The CWK is occasionally retaken by the PB's conciousness attempting to break through, so it talks 'normal' every so often.
Probably a few others, but those are the highlights. A split personality character is *always* fun, if challenging, to deal with. And that's just the talking, the actions are also parts of those equations. It would be very fun to do, I think, just to figure out how to make it all 'go'. Nifty idea, actually!
Transformations: SINCE, regardless of the type of takeover discussed above, the Clockwork is a 'shell', but not organic, then transformation to a dwarf or nova isn't gonna work as normal... if at all. Likely, the powers could be logically done, and a mix of all three could be possible, and maybe without mode switching (and what a mix that'd be, yeah? Heck, I want that myself.) But we're talking transformations, so... it might be ok if it were a a 'Transformers' type reconfiguration to accomplish a dwarf/nova looking thing. Be like Astrotrain or other triple form Transformer.
And so to that end, for me, Technus comes to mind right away. This would fit the bill, sorta, if only to get past the merging of a 'soul' to technology, if you will. Technus can control and even transform all things electronic, and then power them, make blasting rays, pummel things, etc. This is what this PB/CLK merger sounds like you're looking to do, overall, in my mind.
http://dannyphantom.wikia.com/wiki/Nicolai_Technus
I'm sure I've completely missed a lot of points on what you want to do, but... thems my thoughts.
/Oh, and this thing would be Void/Nictus resistant, which is a bonus, of course. -
If you find yourself standing around with nothing else to do... and you're making one or more of the 'idle stance' poses... with 'animation'...
If you openly talk about your favorite character with people who could not care less about gaming...
/probably others, but these come to mind quickly.
//Not me, of course, I would never do these... -
Proliferate crab backpacks for all archetypes as either primary or secondary, and I'd be all over that.
/because it'd be fun to have a 'troller with a backpack, right? -
For me, I think of these as...
Brutes and Scrappers: Solo artists.
'Fenders, 'Trollers and Doms: Unbearable control freaks, with 'Fenders being more protective to the team. ("Gather!" "GATHER DANGIT OR ELSE!")
Blasters: Weapons.
Masterminds: Chess players
Stalkers: Bullies, pure and simple... with the same "can't take it" weakness.
Tanks: Masochists.
Corruptors: Split personalites... do I shoot or do I help?
PB's and 'Shades: Symbiotic parasites with a hidden agenda... well, that's what I think anyway.
Crabs and Widows: Useless. (probably because I don't care about them... I'm not good with the split archetypes these are. PBs and WSs make more sense to me.)
If you like 'em, great. And I do like me a powerful Crab on a team.
And that's what I got to say about those.
/No really: I never respec. I make a character, I already know what they're gonna be, what they're gonna have for powers... even if somebody else thinks it's stupid to have both Super Speed and Super Jump...
//Turns out, it's really fun to have them both. -
Stole my post, Father, but that's ok, great minds and all that, right?
*waves* -
This should totally go into an NPC conversation somewhere in the maps...
-
So... I decided to go poking about just a little bit with my vigilante 'Troller in the RWZ. I can't really explain why, just... did.
So I'm muckin' about, finding a few 36 LTs to play around with (they're absolutely no contest for her, btw.)
I get to, um... Little Big Hill? I dunno, the first fort with the battles going on north(?) of the entry to RWZ... the first one on the right against the wall before it takes a right towards the ship...
Anyway, 40s abound, which is +4 to her. Level 40 minions, 40 LTs, and 40 bosses, Rikti all, and I run into them in the middle of the battle. I'd forgotten how the levels jump about like that here, and I ran into them blindly without realizing it.
Well, I panicked(!), and defensively hit Dominate on a 40 boss Chief Mesmerist as I jumped back...
And hit him. Stopped him in his tracks.
"Wha...? Ooh, cool! You can do that, Rose?!" I alwasys felt she was pretty powerful, but not like that...!
I then proceeded to mop the floor with him. Threw him about, mezzed, dom'd... ton of XP for that one, even though he was also being beaten by the turrets. Didn't hurt, but still, a lot of XP.
I then proceeded to continue on battling the purples with little to no worries. One at a time, of course. Minions directly, bosses while they were attending to turrets and taking a pot shot here and there at me. Oh sure, they hit hard, and two whacks without a heal, I died... 4 times. But I took out a WHOLE lot more than that, and in about 20 minutes (including dyin', going to hospital, and comin' back in) had another bubble, and no debt (thank you patrol XP!)
Awesome. Pure win, in my book. A 'Troller with +4 minion group defeating power is nothing I've ever played with before. And definitely not a +4 boss beating machine for sure. Lovin' this build. Even if she is still squishy to them purple beasts.
Rose is built to be a solo 'Troller vigilante. She doesn't do any team buffs that don't buff her too. She has a lot of aim (all the power in the world doesn't work if you don't hit them with it), a lot of regen, a lot of heal, and a lot of recharges on things, along with Siphon Power and Speed hitting, well... If you're not a +2 or more, you're goin' down, punk. She also has a lot of defensive capabilies, except mez/psi... figures the mind 'troller can't handle those.
My point is... She's not as fast as my Claws WP scrapper Homeslicer, but man, she does all right, and if she can take on and defeat +4 Bosses who spit mez/psi at her... I think I did pretty good with this build so far.
Anyway. This struck me as slight off center of normality for a 'Troller, and I thought I'd share. I'm probably just now finding out what many have done/known before, but if anything, it does say this:
City of Heroes. Just when you think you know it all... you don't. Again.

In case it matters, I also vote for Freem!
Besides, in some of the 'pre mission' pictures with the hints? There it is, shows up all the time. "FREEM!" in big white letters. So the 'new VIP' thing doesn't cut it with me.
It's gotta win. Gotta. -
Quote:Awesome. Pure win right here.It should have a power called 'Time Warp' and a second, identical power called 'Time Warp Again'.
And with that...
I'm also now thinking that 'Jump to the Left' (a quick jump/thrust type maneuver... a 'bowling' power, so to speak) and 'Step to the Right' (a displacement, quick-teleport thing, defense type of power, the wake of which also produces an AoE Knockdown for all nearby foes.) might be cool, as well as possibly a "Pelvic Thrust" power that does... uh... I dunno, but I want it just to say I got it. -
Personally, I don't see anything wrong with Thunder_Frog, myself. I mean, that's just full of win!
-
I'm currently pretty much soloing a new Dawn sister, Rose Dawn. She got thrown in Praetoria, and is back in Paragon, but is a Vigilante.
Anyway, I rolled her as a Mind/Kin 'Troller. This is FUN. And fairly soloable so far (she just dinged 35.) The Kinetics work very well, and you add the Leadership trio (not Vengance, doesn't do anything) and she has more 'firepower' on top of the Kins. And you get a nice little heal with it too.
I've taken down 3 +1 bosses in a group in Creys, and even 2 +2 bosses (that was a little tough) and fairly rapidly. Even a +1 EB or two hasn't been an issue, so far... come to think of it, I can't figure out what enemy I can't take down in a hurry with her power set...
She's not as fast as my solo artist Claws/WP scrapper Homeslicer... That dude leveled *fast*... but she's mowin' them down, nonetheless, and I wipe maps all the time solo, and it seems maybe 10% slower than he was possibly?
But that's just me. I'm sure others will go "no, that sucks, here's why", but I don't care. Rose is FUN. I love lockin' 'em up and mowin' 'em down. So that's my vote for a soloable 'troller.
---
Rose, I think, is successful (to me) in soloing due to a few tricks that must be dealt with. Endurance, of course, is a problem so Stamina as well as End Mods are a must. But before even that, accuracy must be added to every power, as well as Tactics.
Defense (Acrobatics, Combat jumping, etc.) are important to deflect the Alpha strikes, because you have no one else to take them (although if you have a Vet Buff Pet, you could throw that in there, but the time it takes to do that... meh.)
Haste, Speed Boost and Recharge. If you're standing about waiting for Levitate or something... you're not dealing damage. I have it so I can 'round robin' Mesmerize, Levitate, and Dominate being thrown one after the other and keep repeating, even without Haste and SB, although I might get a little bit of 'recharging' here and there. With Haste and SB? Oh, they're SO done... The trick is to recognize who needs Mes and who needs Dom, and make sure they *stay* that way until you mow them all down.
Well. Anyway. I'm having fun with that one. Rose'll get Transferrence next (didn't get it yet, she's waiting my return and will immediately get it then), then Fulcrum Shift at 38. Can't wait to get the Earth pool at 41, where I can start making even more damage. There's three damage dealers in that pool. If I can get it. I get confused about those pools, but I think it's available for her... -
I would have hoped that someone might have nominated my story, 'The Saga of the Sisters Dawn', except for what you see broken in my sig causes it to never be able to be finished, so it's not available.
Good luck to those who get nominated though! I'll be running a few just to see what's goin' on with them.
/em pokes Dr. Aeon with a stick.
//And doesn't regret one bit rootin' for Television.
///NOT a plug for me... a pleading to fix things.
////Know it's futile, but still. -
This is why people have Scrapper Lock.
Totally grok this stuff.
-
Yeah, yeah, after I typed that, I forgot the inherent Fitness thing. I was thinking of before when I had to do it. Meh. Which is also why I said they're harder to solo, because Cerise was rather torturous to solo in the higher levels. I had to beg for teams to get her to level near the end.
Then the Dominator fren and the inherents hit, AFTER she'd dinged 50, and I haven't been back to the Dominator since that. I'm guessing that with those two, Dominator is probably a whole lot easier to move on up.
Rose is a 'Troller, and she's been really good to solo with that Mind/Kin set. I'm dedicated to getting her to 50, and it may be that she's powerful and quick enough to do it, so we'll see.
But then... I just rolled Homeslicerette, a Claws/WP Brute, current in Praetoria on Champion, and... well, that may just take up my funtimes now... Claws with Fury? Holy carp, that's a leveling machine, try to keep up, I'm movin' movin' movin' to keep that Fury up... -
All of those are pretty good, but mine are these:
1) The construction in the Northeast corner of Steel Canyon. What was going on there...?
2) The Bridge to Nowhere (obviously headed to Alaska) in Port Oakes. Where was it headed...?
3) The Moon Base. This should have happened a few yesterdays ago.
4) The Big Red Ball. This should have happened, period.
Ok, those last two, I admit, can't be orphaned because they weren't put in (yet.)
And for my personal #1 orphaned thing and my pet peeve, see my signature.
