Ow! Dangit, why does it hurt to laugh so much?!
Sad, yet too punny not to watch.
Some of these are *hilarious* and I will be waiting to see them in person soon.
-
'Cause I was having too much fun away from the group, chasing a straggler/runner, and didn't notice until too late I'd forgotten to do the healing thing. Again. My bad.
/THAT's how I gimp a team. Who needs damage, when all you have to do is be passive?
//'trollerlock? Naw, doesn't exist, right? -
The problem as I see it is the definition of 'civilization' in regards to 'how advanced it is'.
The Kingdom of England, Romans, Egyptians, etc, all were 'civilized' in their own times. Even a pack of Neanderthals was 'civilized', much like a pack of wolves are. There are leaders, followers, and stragglers.
What do you want this civilization to do? An Amish community would be the best answer, you ask me, because they are a civilization to themselves, and they are a whole lot more ready that the rest of America to be 'depowered', if you will, and have no industries supporting them. (farm, mechanical, etc.) There are other groups/communities, all over the globe, that this can be said for as well. The tribal natives in the Amazon(?) are among them. And wolves, definitely wolves. Alphas, Betas, and all the way down to Omegas, all contributing somehow, mostly.
Yeah. Something like that is my answer. Simplified lives already? You'll be the new civilizations.
/I might can do some of it, but a lot of it, nope. I'm toast. -
Wow.
First, lemme say that I'm quite pleased with my little hornets nest of thought provoking. I like a lot of what y'all have to say. And all of it makes a lot of sense from different perspectives, and that's kinda why I asked in the first place, to see what you all thought. Please keep it comin', and those who haven't jumped in, well, the water's fine, c'mon already!
I want to address a couple of specifics:
Concept, NOT trolling. Totally concept. Similar to the baddest awesome solo machine (for me, was a claws/WP scrapper with tons-o-defense and hella aim, second was a SS/Invuln Brute and he had his issues.)
So the idea is to brave the world as a nearly defenseless kitten, but if you had a team, you were the best *helper* you can be. I sort of mismanaged that idea in the original post, not the best *team* player (which would require offense, I agree), but the best *helper*, and not by default a h34l0r, although that's more than fine if that's the thing to do.
Quote:Does not compute. Simply put, if you don't take any offensive powers, you're not just gimping yourself, you're gimping your team. Quote:+1. Any support set has powers that do damage even if it's not the primary thing it's suppose to do. Even if you took those powers and never used them, you would instantly fail as being a supreme complete team player.
Quote:Emp/elec defender with all attacks slotted for end drain.
I have one and it cant solo anything. Okay, its not that great on a team either. I was just curious what it would be like.
Like I said in the first post, I already have one up to 37. And all done by teaming, no solo, she's impossible to do that with. Of course, she can't live on a smaller population server, so three guesses as to which server she's on. And the last one doesn't count, because if you can't guess in two, I dunno what game you're playin'.
---
Oh, and one other thing, if this helps the idea... instead of a moral obligation to not have a power, let's say the character just simply, because of the way they got their powers (mutant or whatever) they just simply... don't have anything. Call it empathic only, for lack of a better word, that their powers ignite simply because a team is there, and the powers are only team helpful, and can't do any damage.
Whatever helps ya get past the problem of no offense, do it, that's the challenge.
Ok, back to the sidelines for me, I'll wait a bit longer before sayin' anything else. -
Howdy all.
It's me, houtex the oddly thinking oddman, and he's thought up another oddity for y'all to consider. If it's been done, then I apologize, I did a search for 'weakest' and such.. Oh, and I've read about weak archetypes/combos, etc... and that's not my question for y'all today.
No, the question is... what would you do to create a character that is totally ineffective *except* for teaming?
I mean... this character is complete weaksauce, offensively. Has no offensive powers to speak of. But in the department of being a complete team player, this thing is *supreme*. Buffs, heals, debuffs, what have you.
I'm assuming that you have to take at least one offensive power, beyond brawl and the trick power for the origin, like Mutagen for Mutants, because that's the way the game is set up for character creations. Beyond that, though you don't want get anything else offensive, if possible. *Damage* dealing is to be avoided. Consider it a religious problem: Your character wants to help, but can't possibly hurt anyone. Like a doctor, sorta. Your sole purpose for this character is to be the ultimate helper, completely dependent on the team for whatever XP you can get with them.
Best build wins cake. Cake that is delicious and moist. The build is judged by you, the viewers.
Go!
/Already have one, but curious what you guys/gals come up with.
//She's a 37, btw, being just a helper. Kinda fun to do.
///Be goin' back to her after Rose Dawn is finished to 50. -
Mind/Psi is a fun Dom. Cerise Dawn was a good character, and no, she didn't get into many melees. And the Domination is *fun*x4 at least.
She was built ranged, though.
/And she was 50 before the Fren, so she's even more awesome than yours will be. So there.
//Was a grind towards the end, though... -
re: lull... Nope. I have real life to do that to me.
Actually, when I get the chances I do, I'm still working on a canon-to-me character levelling to 50, so I have plenty to do before Freedom comes about.
/Rose Dawn is gettin' there, slowly but surely.
//RL is a little sucky these past few weeks. -
I have never, ever, had any issues whatsoever with hostages, with the sole exception being the elevator issue that used to plague them all.
I simply target them. Then I lead them. And I run backwards, pausing at major hangup points and wait for them.
It's a game, to me, to see if I can lead the mouse to the cheese.
Almost zen in practicing this, actually, and I'm quite good at it. I like doing it, to be honest, because I know it can be difficult, and doing it right every time is an accomplishment.
That being said, +1 and $20 for 'drag hostage by hair' power, FTW. I ain't totally stupid, y'know. -

All I have to say about a GB3 movie is:
Don't. Just.... don't.
/It would have to be a frakking home run to be worth seeing, IMO. -
But... you missed SO much content.
All that within a month? I'm guessing that planning is the key to the whole idea. My playstyle doesn't really... lend me to that idea.
I'm impressed, nonetheless! -
-
I'm totally making a full slot of characters there... and then likely never playing them.
Take that, VIP server!
Naw, I'll see what happens. I'm not unhappy with my servers I frequent. Quiet, but occasional teamage. Perfect for me. Of course, if the squealin' newbs show up with "pl meh" and such, well.... I may make my first 3 moves the Dawn Sisters to there.
Too soon to say, really. -
Quote:No, there's not. I'm with you on those, I can't help but watch 5th when it shows up. Such good stupidness, it's just plain fun.I liked Mars Attacks!, Aliens 3 and The 5th Element. Is something wrong with me? >.>
Quote:Wow, six pages in and no mention of Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman and Sir Sean Connery in The Avengers?
There have only EVER been 2 movies I've considered walking out of, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and The Avengers. And I saw Battlefield Earth, Alien 3 &4 and Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes in theaters!
---
I nominate Speed Racer. Although I myself do like it, it's pretty bad, and I'm ok with it's badness... it's just so... *pretty* to watch...
But you had at the Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon, John Goodman, Matthew Fox, Roger Allam (chewin' scenery like no other) AND Peter Freakin' Hernandez himself. All no slouches. Such a suckfest...
And I still like watching it. Me and Shego (you still around, woman?) had a wonderful time back-and-forthing it as to it's merits, but I admit... it's pretty horrible. But then, how do you save the world while racing a car?
/you don't, silly Wachowski brothers. -
I used a second build for ONE purpose... turning my 'troller from a TP artist to a Flying artist. For the presents during the Holiday periods. In Atlas Park, specifically. Where all the presents spawn in a never ending cycle that I can run over and over and over and over...
That's it. I see no other reason for using it.
/well, there's that PvP thing that the idea was when the second build was introduced, but who uses that? -
Circling the drain... so it's time to put him out of his misery. I'll do it.

In the immortal words of Mortal Kombat: Synapse Vs. Sister Psyche... FIGHT!! -
Just got done with the Pinnacle Galaxy Sendoff! A FUN time for me, and I think everyone enjoyed the idea of sweeping the streets clear. Although, I have no idea if it is even doable, and how you'd know.
But the camradarie for that hour was definitely worth it. Thanks for the great time. And I definitely have a new scrapper to play with in Galaxy's Last Stan. The Bio will be really easy to do now.
We should totally pick another zone sometime and do this again! -
All those powers are pretty good, and yes, I would seriously pay money for them.
I think, though, that Leeroy Jenkins as a power is too lightly regarded and comes at too early a level. I also think it should be more of a berserker type power for yourself, instead of a control power. Perhaps this could be saved for a Meme Melee powerset, whereby upon activation, you auto target the nearest enemy, beat them with Superior DMG, with a short lived Auto-Hit Stun for 5 seconds, while you target the next available victim, up to 5 victims in a 60 ft radius, recycling targets if there are less than 5 targets in the inital cone. Afterwards, you will be rather spent, but also intangible for 10 seconds, so you can run to get chicken.
THAT would be a Leeroy Jenkins, ya ask me, and of course, the last power in the Meme Melee set.
But THE power that I want, the one I want seperately as a Vet reward or something?
Nyan cat. That is perfect being the penultimate power, but honestly, I just want to see this in action, and heads exploding. Well done on that one. Well done indeed. -
This is... not good for Trek. Period.
I won't comment on the other posts, rather, more of the idea itself.
There is already another movie on the way... sometime.
If there is to be more, then a TV show isn't the way to go DURING the span of movies.
However, if after that new movie, they were to stop making them, and they were to GO do a series on TV only, exploring the new timeline, that would be acceptable to me.
I think that if they were to going back to Voyager+ days, and ignore the new movies, it likely would become something stupid like Star Trek (movies), and The REAL Star Trek (TV). Like the cartoon Ghostbusters... I mean, the Real Ghostbusters.
THAT is why it's bad. You don't make new movies, then abandon them in a franchise. You MOVE FORWARD. It happened. Get used to it, and let's get moving on the next step.
I still don't get why people are so upset about Abram's retimelining. You're ok with Spock dying and being reborn on a magical planet, but the timeline being reset isn't cool?
Uh...ok.
<--- Trekkie, raised on all 6 versions of them. Loves DS9 the best.
/Not a Trekker, that's a whole other level of Trek follower, and I'm not worthy of that moniker by a long shot.
//Although I can talk Trek with the best of them, and win trivia contests.
///Photographic memory rules. Heh. -
Interesting the variety of responses so far. What a fun little topic.
I don't know about the full list, though. How about my favs, then my not favs:
Funnest evar:
Brutes/Scrappers. Solo, causing mayhem in any map, at any time, properly built. Just go out and decimate. Repeat if with team, but with more to fight. FUN.
'Trollers - FUN FUN FUN. The ability to lock down several enemies, then slowly, excruciatingly, extract from them their health until they finally, victoriously for me... cave in and collapse from the sheer weight of a thousand cuts. Poetic awesomeness.
Dominator, pre Fren. See 'Trollers, but add Domination, and you're a Tasmanian devil of win. As long as you don't get hit first.
Not terribly exciting to me, from ok to no thanks:
MasterMind: Too much dang work. But I'm not disenterested, just... man. All that button pushing to get things rolling.
Corrs: I just... don't get them. At all. I have one, and she's... ok... but... Meh. Something about the power sets don't work for me. Like they're not... corruptible enough? Meh. Maybe I need to make a new one and try again sometime.
VEATs: I find myself unwilling to play a character that morphs midway through its build. I want to build a character from 1 to 50, and I NEVER respec. I make a decision and go with it, and I'm rather proud of that. (Probably need to get over it.)
Number one no thanks: Stalker. Unless it's a PvP, I find them utterly useless, I'd rather have a Tank/Scrap/Brute. A squishy, overpowered stealthy scrapper... it's just weird. I find myself not liking it.
---
All this thread is pointing out, though, is that there are more than one way to be happy playin' in CoH, amirite? -
I don't have a problem with this. I just target pummel them all, viewing them through the text, until they're all defeated. If I have a small break, I move the window a little. After they're all done, THEN I read.
I know it's coming, though. After Praetoria and the switching, I kinda assume (if the story's vibe properly sets it up) that the assault is comin'.
But I see the point, and I'm also ok with /signed here. -
I think I'll wait for all the volumes to be available in one fell swoop and then get them all.
I did that with the Lord Of The Rings trilogy... Never saw them in the theatres, got the The Fellowship's Special Edition 5 Disc set, then sat on it, got the other two, and spent the next 6 days watching the DVDs involved back-back-back-back-back-back, with all the extra 2 hours for each part
Epic. The way it had to be done, unless you had 15 hours to spend straight.
So it will be with this. All or nothing.
/I hate cliffhangers. -
I know, that's what I'm in. I want to see this done. NO baddies hanging around would be funny and awesome at the same time.
And I couldn't help myself... I hadda roll a new character to be in the 1-8 range, so I rolled... Galaxy's Last Stan. A Kin/Sheld scrapper. Fun little guy so far.
/I know, right?
//I get every name I want, just about.
