    Thanks, Pinn

Prediction: You'll be back. There's I22 to look foward to, after all. Then I23. And I24...

I've tried to drag myself away, and it never works. I'm always coming back. I caved. I'm a lifer. And I'm ok with that.

Until your return, happy journeys, MB, and we'll see ya when your walkabout's done!
  2. Well, for one, in the way my character works as a stalker? Can't have any clothes to be invisible. Therefore, she's nekkid.

Well, Nearly Nekkid, as she's called. In the sake of decency, some very *very* expensive light bending undies are worn, but they are very close to her skin color, so while she has the *appearance* of being nekkid, she's really not. If it were that I didn't want the character generic'd, though, I'd totally have gone nude with the character. It's not like they have any definition (a la angels/demons in Dogma), so it's not like you can really see anything anyway.

But that's a reason: Clothes interfere with the 'canon' of the character.

    ---

Having said that, +1 on the Color Wheel, but ONLY for VIPs. As I'm one of those, win for me.
  3. To be honest, I'm not so interested in the changing of how you deal with powers... although, I imagine a sub 'folder' of powers could be made to work... maybe...

I'm more interested in the width of Arcana's screen, because, man that's gotta be something like Frank's 2000 Inch TV:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBF5bewa0ts

/..and I'm highly jealous about it.
  4. Don't bother. Oh, it may help here and there, but my feeling is you will be very disappointed in the overall results. you might see an extra frame or two, maybe, or the rendering of a complicated internet web page might show up a couple of seconds faster, but you're not really going from an Aveo to a Corvette with that, more like an Aveo to a Cavalier. Little roomier, maybe an extra gadget or two, so there's that, but overall, not much more performance for the money.

Not the best analogy, but the idea's close, methinks.

The best thing would be to somehow borrow one and see what happens before committing the money. But I think that's gonna be a smidge tough to pull off...

    A smile for you!

Too long to really type here. Suffice it to say, there's plenty of smiles that can be garnered from my time with Co*, from mezzing 12 bad guys at the same time, to soloing 12 LTs and Bosses with a Claws/WP scrapper, to just being a weirdly obnoxious and stupid SS/Inv brute blowing through town flinging bad guys everywhere, to being part of shutting down Galaxy City with Galaxy's Last Stan, to roaming about the Shadow Shard and doing it without flying, to being really precise with super jump and landing JUST beside the trainer, to the amazing gatherings in PocketD, to the events that I sometimes partake in and win (CCs, races, etc)...

To name a very few. Co* owns me bad.

The issue isn't how they got there *physically*.

It's evident you haven't actually been to First Ward, or reading comprehension
failed you there as well as here.

First Ward is a *prison*. Nobody there is affiliated with the political power base in
Praetoria. All of the detained are Praetorians sent there by other Praetorians,
presumably in a Stalinesque political housecleaning.

So, the issue isn't "how" but WHY. Why would the Council give a Rat's Patootie
about First Ward? Why would they sent elite troops to a world they have no vested
interest in to battle Khelds there?

That would be akin to the US sending Navy Seals to Russia to assist Soviet dissidents
in the Gulag - never gonna happen.

As for me being there, I was invited. So, who would be inviting Voids?

    Apparitions?
    Ghouls?
    D.E.?

Really? If so, I'd like to talk to you about some property I have for sale...

That's the direct response to your rationalization...

Far more important to me however, is the game issue.

The factions involved have backstories and alliances, and very simply put, many of
those are directly conflicting with the very concept of a Void being among them.

That same issue is problematic for Paragon City as well, but First Ward being
new content really emphasized just how jarring to the story Voids are in those
    situations.

    4
    From this:
    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Void_Hunters
"The Void Hunters are a special mercenary group created by the Council of Nictus to combat the growing Peacebringer/Warshade threat currently growing in Paragon City. The Council have been hiring them out to other groups to help deal with their Kheldian enemies, as well as to make a slight profit. For those who don't want to deal with the Council's mercenaries, they sell Quantum Array Guns, thus creating the "Quantum Faction" to each villain group."

I.e., Voids are *mercanaries.* You are being *targeted*, as a Kheldian. They want you dead, and they don't care where you are, hence they show up where you are.

The Quantums are there because the factions what have the guns know of Kheldians and want to get them too... or, simply put, it's a gun. Someone's gonna buy it. It still hurts others, regardless of Kheldian or not. And it looks bad ***. I'd want one.

Jarring or not because of your feelings upon the issue, the lore still works. But hey, I'm ok with you not likin' it.

/oh, and btw, bring on the derisiveness. I can take it.
//And that's still a pretty decent wall-o-text as a reply... not that mine's not now... ah well.
  7. Never minded that about the Hollows m'self.

Then again, I was/am *extremely* good at running across it as a level 5, diagonally, through the actual hollows, up over the transmission tower, and into the forest at the SE corner... of course, dying there meant going to AP, which sucked a lot back then.

/Won the Death Race 2 because of that skill... and hella planning.
//Oh, and Zwillinger is awesome with that pic.
///I'm totally gonna do that run again before bed, as a *1*, just to say I did it.
  8. I've not read everything in here, but I'll just do this, from the OP's first:
    Quote:
Unfortunately, with Khelds, Voids show up in *every* mission ... In Praetoria...
Where there are no Khelds ... or Council ...

Would a dev PLEASE explain to me how the average Praetorian, imprisoned in
First Ward even knows what a Kheld IS? Or what a Void IS? Or how to create one?
Or how to hire dozens of them to defend against Khelds?
First off, if there's not supposed to be Khelds there, why are you there?

Oh, you're just visiting? From some sort of dimensional portal? Really?

Don't you think that the Council and/or Voids could, oh, I dunno, use them too?

There. Now you know how it happened. Surprised you wall-o-texted and didn't say it outright...

/I can get your reasoning... but it's just too easy to explain, especially with the fact that YOUR Kheld made it there... And it's not gonna get followed... surrrre...

    Coca Cola....

While I applaud the effort of trying to help the Polar Bears, and I particularly love the Cola Bears, as I've come to call them when they show up in the Coke commercials...

There's no saving them. They're doomed. Of course, the very idea of using ICE (which melts, mind) as a 'solid ground' to hunt from is just silly, and of course, a bear would do it.

I won't get into the argument of whether Man is responsible or it's just the world doing a cyclical change that's so vast we don't have any good records to say it's that... I'll just say that like many other species, you must adapt or die. This is one of those times.

It's unfortunate, but really... If it were that somehow Man were to stop its warming efforts, ore better yet, never have been involved in it... and the ice melted anyway? What are we to do then?

Methinks it's just advertising overall... but again, I do applaud trying. I think the money could be better spent, but hey, if it makes ya feel good, then it's pretty decently spent money.

/and no, I didn't read the whole article... these are my thoughts. If it's similar, then hey, logic works...
//Drinks DP10 and Diet DP, so probably not gonna help that much, sorry.
  10. Aw. I was totally hoping this would be a "what do you think is a FOR MEN item that should be advertised.

    To which, I'd've replied:

"War Mace+Energy Aura! So Strong! And Pretty... but for MEN!"
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=124689

/But alas, it is not that sort of thread.
  11. Seconded. I understand the intention, but the execution is just mired in other crap that causes filtration issues with our eyes.

Just re-enable the section. It's been told you guys still have access to it, so just turn it back on.

    kthx.
  12. Heh. Was pokin' about looking for demo recording guides, and stumbled across this thing. Survived 5 years now... Sooo outdated... but it was fun to re-read it.

  13. My signature contains my on going, not acknowledged, issues with AE, if anyone cares.

Well, that, and no 'back' spawn placements outdoors, but I sorta 'get' that.

Secondarily, the spawns for outdoors missions are sometimes outside the maps as well. It's entirely possible, for example, to use a Graveyard or Carnie map, fill it with object touching boss spawns (10 should do it), and have one of them sometimes be outside the map. Or, at least, I assume it's outside the map... the thing is dang sure not IN the map.

    There's mine. Yay or something.
  14. At first, I was highly annoyed.

But with the rapid scope of changes that have been taking place, I came to accept that, indeed, we are never getting rid of this, and so, 1 click... meh.

The annoying part, for me, is the tiny print... it takes me *forever* to be sure there's nothing about my first born being sacrified or such in there. By the time I get done reading it, yet again(!), it's time to go to bed.

/don't plan on having a first born at this point, but one never knows...

  16. Aww Riiightt..... This thread is awakened! So lemme add another +1 to the idea of BRB in game.

    +1

  17. Mind/Fire, you don't say?

Dang... shoulda rolled Cerise with that. Although I did Mind/Psy, and was pretty happy with it overall. Stayed with a theme, though, all mind powers.

Perhaps I'll roll a Mind/Fire just to see...
  18. That is awesome. Co* rocks, and here's livin' proof. Congratulations to you both! Here's to many many happy years together!

    /em drink
  19. Unless it's changed, Co* takes up about 2G tops that I've ever seen... of course, I'll be the first to admit, I've not done a check in a while, maybe it's more. It's mostly about 1.5G that I've seen. I don't think adding memory will solve anything, unless the problem is you're running Co*, and 14 other programs, and are bumping up against the memory due to that.

The Core2 Duo has two cores. Co* takes up two. There's your biggest issue, if only in that you need to have more cores active if you're needing Co* and something else running. The CPU is where it's at, and beyond that, the video card. The rest of it is fine, IMO, although I am curious as to what that GF460 Father talks about would do in it...

My rig is very similar to yours: E6750, 4G ram, GF9600GT, on a Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G board, with a Thermaltake Pure Power 500Watt PSU. I have no plans to upgrade this box, I'll be making a new one with a i5, and a reasonable GPU. But if it were shown that I could get 25FPS minimum at all times with full Ultra and all I have to do is swap out the GPU... that I would probably do.

Are there any hard numbers on GPU vs CPU swap outs for performance improvements? I'm thinking the CPU is more important in this case, but I don't have the parts to play with to find out for sure...

I don't string them. I use the number pad, and sequence them. It's 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, then 0 is the changer to the next set of nine. Rinse, repeat, until yer done.

It's a helluva keybind file... Although I admit, it's been a while, they may have broken my tricky keys. I'll have to check that out someday, just to see.

I gotta say, these are indeed Win, and get my vote.

Mine is when I was running about on the Thin Red Line(?) in the RWZ, and totally beating down +4 bosses left and right with a Mind/Kin 'Troller. That was so awesome. Over and over...

Just for the record? I wouldn't. I'd get a proper box. Laptops, to me, are self destructing heat boxes of dustbunnies waiting to explode when Co* is put on them.

    But that's just me.

Think of the best box you can build for your needs... then put those items, as closely as possible, in a laptop.

There. You can find your own that way.

But, if I were to HAVE to buy a laptop, I'd buy Lenovos first, if I could get one to fit the bill. Then I'd trickle my way down... Probably Dell... maybe a Toshiba... Perhaps a Compaq/HP... leaving Acers and Sonys last, and in my opinion, unbuyable. Acer because... they just aren't very good, in my opinon, based on previous experiences, and Sonys because, frankly, their support is the Devil incarnate.

I couldn't return a laptop to them for a *safety issue*. 6 months I tried. It was stupid. I threw the thing away rather than have the battery melt in my lap. Forget you, Sony. And that's not the first, but it was the last, Sony thing that service was awful on.

    Anyway... Good luck.
  23. Lame. Frackin' lame.

But as we all know, Sidious was waiting under him all the time, 'cause he looked into the future and saw Maul's halfiness. So he catches the only part of Maul that's usable, namely, his upper half, merges him upon a robotic lower half (which paves the way for General Grievous? Or the other way around?) and sends him off to destroy Skywalker, proving his worth as his student, or proving Skywalker's worth instead by having Maul die.

Or something like that. It's a guess... seeing as I don't even watch Clone Wars.

Oh, yeah, hold on... this was s'posed to be 'tween 2 and 3... the thing with student is supposed to be Darth Tyranus/Count Dooku. So... there is a TARDIS involved! Yeah, that's it! And the Enterprise had slingshotted around a sun, back in time, and also displaced in the universe to this Galaxy! Then the Dinosaurs somehow get in on the action... and SG1 shows up. Then, outta nowhere, Mr. Rogers shows up in a bloodied up sweater and a sword...

What? Might as well, if they're bringing back Maul, ya ask me.
