In case it matters, I don't hate the game, love it still, and the irritant parts I either put up with (Gold farmers, notell invites) or don't bother with (IOs, Incarnate, AE broken in certain ways) and it's all good.
/How else do you explain my making a brawl only character and continuing to level up past 23 at the moment? Hm?
//Bap... bap... bap... bap... -
Soon I will have a bootlegged pirated version of this, because SOPA is dead.
Sweet.
/not really. I can't do it, as I used to make programs that got stolen/copied/pirated so I get the whole pirating thing, and won't do it.
//Unless there's NO OTHER WAY to get it.
///Explorers soundtrack, for example.
////Except now, Intrada makes it, so now I have one!
/////Very happy to have actually paid for a CD. I love it. A lot. One of Jerry Goldsmith's finest! And now it's mine. Finally. -
Oh, I cannot WAIT to see:
Guardian (Catgurls galore!)
Pinnacle (Drunken masses.. hic!)
Bring it, devs, make this happen! -
First off, gotta say this, Lulipop is full of awesome and win! Moar Jenny Typealotta!
Ok, with that accolade granted, my thoughts on this idea:
Yes. Very yes.
While I'm quite proud of my achieving 50 with my current 5, as they were hard earned, and long fought, and much efforted to achieve, once I hit the actual 50... I am done with them. Shelved. Oh, I run the Alpha Slot with them too, just to get that done, it's kinda a ritual with me on that... go celetrain at the first trainer, then run the Alpha.
But I'm... just not interested in continuing to play them if there's no real gain. Incarnate requires a lot of teamwork, seems, and it's just... way too much damn involvement than just playing the game, thinking about getting this or that to make this or that happen.
I also don't do very much IO stuff, because it's just TOO MUCH management. I'm fine with SOs. Besides, after looking at the %s, it seems you sacrifice too much to achieve duality. Perhaps I missed something, but 35% damage on an SO vs 18% damage and 18% knockdown isn't a very good tradeoff to get an IO.
Then there's set bonuses, and balancing and frankenslotting and...
Give. Me. A. Break. I just wanna slot and play already.
So, in my area, something that intrigues me is the idea that I can keep playing my 50s and gain things that way, without having to actually change the way I think about playing them. The play's the thing, as Shakespeare said (I think... Yeah, it was him, right?)
If it's a way to slowly, solo if desired, PUG if I want, missions or sweeping LTs and bosses and humongous mobs, without some goofy trial I have to run over and over and over and over and over.... to get the Incarnate slots done? I'm in. I.e, sometimes you feel like a nut, and sometimes you don't. I don't feel like running Itrials forever.
Tangent example: I only play the respec trials to play them. I never use the respecs, I just have them. I make my characters the way I mean to make them from day one. I play the trials to say "Oh yeah, I've done that!" I have literally dozens of respecs across the server, all unused, and will be forever. If only I could sell them on the market, and I totally would.
That's what I mean on this. I don't wanna run BAF or Lambda or whatever over and over and over to 'level'. I wanna do Shadow Shard stuff, but nobody wants to, and they seem to be all about the trials now. Or I wanna run Eden, or maybe go rogue and do a RSF or whatever I want and STILL gain Incarnate stuff.
That, and that alone, is why I +1 this idea.
/But it'll never happen... that's my guess.
//such a big zone set, the shard, and nothing going on?! Seems such a shame.
///I say make that coop at least, and maybe a few new missions.
////Ah. New idea. All my 50s go to Shadow Shard to park.
/////Maybe there's a day job just for that. -
We give up our arrogance.
Or
We give up Red, White and Blue costumes
Or
We give up Stars
Or... well, I shouldn't bring up the eyes, should I? No, I'll stop now. -
Deleted Thread. Obviously more powerful than any old Incarnate Thread, amirite?

Quote:That last one. I pick that. Do it that way, and it be canon, so sayeth houtex.I can imagine the final NC quotes now:
"Oh god he was so completely destroyed their is no genetic samples left for cloning!"
"His soul has been eaten as magic fuel and no longer exists!"
"I heard the power of the well prevents anyone form using time travel to bring him back!"
/as if I have any say in it.
//Can I vote -1 on the Statesman Memorial Login Screen? It's not... right. I don't want to be staring at a crotch whilst logging on, even if I can type 70WPM at times. -
It's still alive?!
Nifty. Woulda thought it'd be canned by now... -
I am not really caring who's fault it is now. As I know now, and I never started them, I'm just not playing them. So States dies. About time. I'll do like I did the Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Not see them, wait until the extended cut, 2 DVD per movie version comes out, then see it all in one whack, the way it was intended to be seen.
It'll be so much better, I think, to play it that way... 7 epic journeys at once.
/gotta find a weekend for that.
//don't tell me how! I don't wanna know. *fingers in ears* Lalalalalala...
///Yes, it was DUMB of marketers, and upper management, to let the cat out of the bag. Only thing that's not known is how the cat escaped.
////It's name was Schrodinger, but then changed to Houdini, I guess. -
Quote:+1 for either/both of these. I'm in if they show up.If the Devs had any sense of humor they'd create another travel power that makes our characters look like this:
and let us run like 200 mph. -
And that's the point of Praetoria: confusion.
As Obi-Wan said, everything is true, from a certain point of view.
/There is no right answer here. -
I went to beta to check it out as well.
Meh.
It's fast, true, and it jumps like Combat Jumping, only higher.
But at idle? That Coyote is HYPER. Way too many emote changes. Needs a valium. Also, spinning in place is wholly unnatural, moreso than the human form, by a lot.
I think I'd just spend my points elsewhere, as there are better uses. I like my ninja/beast modes better.
/it IS cute though.
//I left my new beta tester in there near Liberty, in Coyote form, after using the Vet Jump Pack to get Top Dog as her title. -
There's enough powers in Co* to call it Sorcery if you just color it and imagine it to be so. Mind and Psi come to mind right off, as well as storm, grav, kin, etc... they're all there, all magically conjurable. Just add bio/RP.
Nosir, what we need in here is Grapple powers as a secondary to Blasts, at least. The ability to swing from building to building. Hang from above using hooks/suction cups/(non-mentionable radioactive non-insect bite induced gripping ability) and blow away the enemy. That sorta thing.
Yep. THAT is what we need in this game, none of that arcane magiks stuff.
/I'll take a BRB or a Moon Zone though, if I can't have the Grapples. -
Did you say 'bronies'?
Here ya go:

/felt it better than hotlinking to link it that way... and I'm lazy. -
Both a person named Will, and a document called Will, I'd gather.
/Teh interwebs are Weird, peoplez... -
^ That's what I was talking about, re: point 2. It is an irritant, much like a fly that just won't go away.
-
Please do not take this the wrong way, but it's really to your benefit to read it:
You are kinda missing the point about turning things off. That's probably our fault in not saying 'why'.
It's not to determine what *new* is bothering it. It is to determine if it is *possible at all* to get the game to work correctly.
You do not diagnose a problem by taking things out one by one, in computers. You diagnose the problem by going completely KISS and then adding one thing back at a time until you find that magic bullet. I.e, Power, keyboard, mouse, sound, video card, OS, Game, and that is all. Nothing else to get in the way.
It's MUCH easier to keep track of. Interactions are hard to figure out, leaving anything in makes it difficult to say what is and isn't the thing.
Your best best is to begrudgingly turn off *everything* via MSConfig (or uninstall a program if the option to turn it off is not in MSConfig), no matter how painful that may be, and the test Co* in your new, sleek, unencumbered configuration.
At this point, if Co* still doesn't work right, you are down to hardware, OS, drivers, and the game install, because nothing else can possibly be screwin' with it, right? Right.
If it runs right, though, you can add one thing, and recheck. Add another, then recheck.
Yes it will suck.
But it will solve the problem of 'what the heck?!' the fastest way possible, instead of shotgunning and/or dartboarding.
Hope that helps, and good luck! -
That was gonna be MY line.
Mine are character driven. Either dichotomic(is that a word?) or appropriate to the character, or it's bio. I have no actual favorite individual, but I do have ones that NEED to be acquired by that character, and they get them.
Example: I have a character on Exalted called Golden Calf, and his is 'Faithful'. Y'all can figure that one out.
There's Big Thing on Guardian, his is 'The Next Big Thing'. Appropos, I thought.
Then I have Rose Dawn on Pinnacle who now has 'Lucsious', which is gotten in the Rikit War Zone, and she only has it because, if she were real... well...
/I somehow think I just went cosplay/fetish/weird there, but that's ok. Them Dawn Sisters (Ruby, Cerise, Rose) are red-colored based first name redheads for a reason... -
I think I'll go with 126. That's a nice number. For no reason than it's sorta mellifluous.

Quote:It is against the rules to post a private message for the very reason you see here.I've always wondered why that isn't against the rules.
You would think transparency and accountability would be a bad thing.
Nonconsistency as well.
I've made three not terribly subtle changes to the original. Everyone can read the original, so my changes can be easily determined, and found out to be an edited quote.
But since the private message was posted, and the Red Name/GM didn't post the message in public, that quoted message may OR MAY NOT be a copy original and correct.
Further, the information between the two parties, being a private conversation, may convey information that was not meant to be publicly disseminated, for whatever reason.
And lastly, any information disseminated here by a Red Name/GM could be taken as 'canon', and a quoted message is a dangerous thing for them to have to own up to, especially if I say

But don't tell anyone, k?

/Don't believe everything you read on the intarwebs, and especially non-backed-up quotes. -
Quiet you. We're lamenting here. Let us pine.
/green bubbly goo person... how we miss thee. Let us count the ways...
//I'm sure I'm missing some superiffic awesomesauce reference there, but I'm pondering wistfully, so I can't hear it right now. -
I have to note something here...
Quote:I've always heard it to be more of a "wauom" than a "woob" sound....The clearest indicator of this is when our powers do not recharge even when our client thinks they should have. We click on our power, which is now full-sized and no longer translucent, and we get the "woob" sound with a "recharging" message. Why does this happen?...
/Freem.
//carry on. -
Well, besides The Olden Days, where Everything was Fresh and New and Exciting and Unknown and Stuff.
No, what I miss? Is in the character creator... I miss the green bubbly proto-goo-person that was in it. This silvery mercurial proto-person isn't... well, I guess, quite as cool, IMO. Probably just me, though.
/Also, I would like to be able to use the green bubbly goo as an actual character base/costume. That'd be *cool*. -
(Preemptive Mea Culpa: I'm not searching for a similar thread. Sorry. I am teh suction. I wanted to say these things, so I'm gonna say it. Post the link to the 'real' thread where these are listed, and that'd be great, if you're so inclined. If I'm the first, well, aaawwwriiight..
)
I had a wild hair (they are getting rarer and rarer though as I lose them) and decided to buy some things. I'm not a *huge* shopper, but I figured that New Year's pack is pretty nifty, and I probably should go ahead and get the Titan Weapons... because? Well, to be honest, I didn't really have much interest, but maybe I'll play about with it.
Well, I had purchased enough Paragon Points to achieve the Tier 9 VIP in the Paragon Rewards, so I have a few points lyin' about burnin' a hole in my virtual pants pocket.
I also wanted, on a lark, the Praetorian salute. I pick the three out, go to check out, and... Well... that "amount requested" thing shows up, and I'm all confused. Like this: o.0
So I do a bit of googling and figure out what the issue is (I already have the salute, I guess.) I remove it, re-add the Titan Weapons (I'd deleted it first...) and then the TW and NYP go through and I can have huge weapons and shoot fireworks. Yay and stuff.
---
That's all not terribly important, honest, I just wanted to talk story a lil' bit. BUT... after the experience of trying to shop on the thing, I have come to these obvious needs:
1) Tell us what we do or do not have. The account info is there, the thing obviously knows if I have this or that. How hard it is to then pre-load that info, and strip out or gray out the ones that I can't buy anymore?
2) It is *really* disappointing that to know what's in a pack or how such and such an emote or costume piece really looks like... I have to switch to Google and look it up that way. Co* has a website, and/or board from which these things can be disseminated, and should. Keep it 'in house', so to speak.
3) The < 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 > thing at the bottom needs to *stay* at the bottom. It's numbers can change, but the whole interface needs to be anchored so one doesn't have to move the mouse up to get the < or something when there are only 1 or 2 items in the four item list.
Small annoyances, to be sure, and I admit this freely. Still, I think they need to be in there.
/Thanks for readin'! -
Might as well say the same two words here:
Amazon.
Women.
'Cause that would be a very kick butt MM powerset, and you all know it.
/buncha 6'8" to 8'0" women running around doing Amazonian awesomeness, all at your command? Yeah, it'd rock. It'd rock awesome.
