Please tell me there's a logical reason for this .....
There is, and has been said.

Keep posting in it, and you don't lose your thread. Simple. Effective. Rule abiding.

/If they get old, there's a pretty good reason it's not being posted in. Unless it's a sticky, it's time to die, thread. *whips out chainsaw*

    Pads....

Yes, it is possible they can be added.

/you did not ask if they *would*, however, and for that, well, only the Devs know for sure.
    //definitely wouldn't be a bad idea though.
  3. I have SS/WP, but it's still SS. IN case it matters, here's Thing of Bigness' attack chain, and it's quite effective so far...

Usually, find the baddest enemy in teh group, and start pounding on 'em thusly:

Prelims: Footstomp, Knockout, Haymaker. Gives you a small window of nothin' happening for a second, as they're pickin' themselves up off the floor.

Then the chain: Punch, Jab, Boxing*, Jab, Punch, Jab, Haymaker, Jab, Boxing, Jab, Punch, Jab, Haymaker, Jab, Knockout, Jab, Footstomp, Jab.... Whatever the most powerful hit is, or the one that knocks them down next, that's the next one, with Jab in between to keep the chain alive.

Etc. Ad nauseum. Don't stop, just keep mashing until the mob is down. If one is defeated, double hit the next power to make sure it fires off in the chain on the next available bad guy.

    And I didn't take a pool. Don't need it.

/If built right, end isn't much of an issue, but blue pills are always a good idea, of course. Stupid sappers...
//* - You DID take Boxing, right? If not... well... skippable, but I like havin' it.
  4. Devs might say "We're busy on other things... try these:"

Solution 1: Move lesser used characters to another server, having used the character creator to clear the name's availability first. This will free up slots for more used characters. But this costs in some way, so I can understand not wanting to do that. Also, I can see you acutally using all these characters... two or three per day... o.0

Solution 2: Make another account. You can have virtually unlimited characters on a single server this way, 2 at a time if you just go free. The way you're payin' for it anyway with all the ala carte stuff, heck, have 100 accounts. As long as it brings in the moolah, they won't complain at all. The naming scheme for the accounts might be fun though...

I highly doubt that the devs are interested in making more pages for anyone anytime soon, until and unless some lucky person manages to use *every slot* on all the servers... and uses them... and even then? Solution 2 is there, and makes more sense to them (and me, honestly) than making another page. Plus, hey, multibox! (Secretly something I wanna do with my current characters on the one account, but alas... )

If I recall, they don't delete characters. An account can be deactivated to free and be reactivated, all characters still there. You could do that if you wanted.

Not sayin' I don't like the idea, mind. I'd *love* to move all my characters to Pinnacle... and maybe could, actually, I don't think I have more than a full set of slots of decent ones I'd bother with... But they are on to other things, and this isn't high priority, is my thoughts.

What would be niftier is maybe sacrificing the current 12 slots on the other servers to wake up the ones on the server of your preference. I don't play on other servers much. So... I can use those slots on Pinnacle, say. Since I'm payin for stuff I don't use, why not move it to where I can? Even to just open the slots on Pinnacle, not add.

    Doubt that'll happen either.

/re: same account multibox: I wanna play the hero Dawn sister against the evil Dawn sister and see which one wins. Or at least, get a screenie with them trying to Mind Control each other into submission. Always wanted a screenie.
  5. /WP. Have three toons that were soloed against MOBS of +4s and +5 all day long. One is the Brawl only Brute. The others were a SS/WP brute and a Claws/WP scrapper. Although, I admit, in the later stages of the Brawler's build, I went IO because Brawl simply wasn't hitting hard enough. He could stand there all day long, but it took forever to take things down.

The other two were maulers with SOs. The heals, status, and defense of the WP set is pretty good stuff.

I will have to try the DM/EA build. Always wanted to.

/Mr PlaySkool says WM/EA is strong and pretty.
//Then there's the CEBR, which I hear is a monster, and want to try too.
  6. If you can play with that keyboard/mouse, hey, go nuts. Fair point, and conceeded, though. I can't imagine it feels good to type with... we'll see. I personally, though, simply can't play without a *real* mouse. Might as well use a Xbox controller than that mousepad, for me. Or just the arrow keys to turn and then move. *shudders*

The rest of it I stand by: It's a Yugo. A V8 Yugo, sure, with the i5, but the transmission won't hold up (video card), and it will be awful.

Can't wait to try it if I get the opportunity, just to see if it does work. Morbid curiosity, you could say.
  7. My 50s will **NEVER** be deleted. That's the emotional attachment thing. I have 6 of those. This means I can have 6 others.

But to be honest, overall... If they're not interesting in some way, they'll likely befalling of the axe, the lot of the non-50s. Most aren't even 20 yet, so I won't really cry about it. Maybe 2 or 3 would get saved, and that would leave me 3-4 slots to make new ones.

    I'd be ok with it.

More of him is still a good thing, but alas, the series is done and gone now.
  9. My current main is Brawling Humiliator, and his favorites were Nemesis, by far, especially +4 Warhulk Bosses, but when he hit DA, it was obvious the BP were goin' DOWN.

And for some strange reason... he likes to pummel (nee grind) the Roman armies into goran dust, but they do fight back well. Probably why he likes them, they're good fightin' peoples.

/Bonus points for knowing that reference
//Can't believe I spelled it right... although there may or may not be an apostrophy there... Seems to be iffy at best on that.
  10. WHO'S NEXT?!??!!

I dunno if he's all that, but I'm ready to pummel anyone who wants to be pummeled. Just catch me in game, or send me a /tell so we can figure out a time.

PVP arena, PD Monkey is good for me.

I'm assuming more hits before you fall is the idea, right? C'mon with it. Any other rules, Sinister?
  11. Cesar Romero did a great job as the Joker, although the show was seriously campy. His laugh was definitely up to par. And kept his mustache too!

But yes, indeed, Mark Hamill = Joker, by far. That laugh... that... hideously awesome evil *laugh*...

/And really, the Trickster too. I wanted to see more of him on The Flash, but he only got the one episode.
//Was obviously not going to stay on the air, but still.
///Damn goofy costume for the Trickster though...

  12. I love these questions. Point blank answer:

It may run. The Pro specs are, excepting the actual memory, adequate enough to actually make it run... provided the graphics are turned down to 0 or maybe even -1 if that's possible.

You will require a mouse. You will require a keyboard. The game is likely highly unplayable without them.

There is therefore no actual *point* to doing this. The Surface, nor any Tablet, excepting the convertible laptop ones, are simply not a good idea for this type of game, without decent accessories and specs.

Let me put it to you this way. You would not use a Yugo to run in an F1 race. Oh, you MIGHT (provided they let you pass Tech and all that)... but it's really not meant for that, and you would not enjoy the experience, either actually doing it (being passed 150times would be very irritating, for example,) nor watching it (you are a moving speed bump, and a dangerous one)

These things are Yugos for Co*.

But I daresay it would likely run... maybe.

/I'm not buyin' one to find out though.
//Might buy one because it might be the first actually useful-to-me product I can use like this.
    ///Maybe.
  13. CoH Helper and Hijack this reports would be lovely, and we can start to find out how to help you better, Dawn. There's a sticky at the top to show you how to do that. Post the results in here.

As to your question, quite simply, as has been said, others aren't having the issue. I personally *never* have this issue, and haven't had anything like it in... oh... 4 years now? Of playing Co*. It just works for me. The few times were when I was experimenting with page files or lack thereof, or memory, or... other reason that I wouldn't normally find myself doing.

Co* is quite simply a computer killer. If it doesn't run on your computer, it is not worthy in some way. Memory, graphics, cpu, software bloat... whatever the reason, the computer on your end is the problem. Co* does that to computers. The other games you mention are newer coded game platforms, and most likely also optimized to use lesser components than Co* is. Like integrated graphics... *shudders*. But they are less stringent on what they will and won't run on. Co* is more perfectionist than they'd like to admit it is.

The CoH helper and Hijack This will help us figure out what is needed to get your computer to 'like' Co* again. Otherwise, we simply can't help, and you'll be forced to continue to suffer, unfortunately.

Don't suffer. Help us help you. Co* is awesome, and you should totally keep playing it.

  15. So... if I say that I did First Ward and Night Ward, solo, and beat them handily... with just brawl and WP...

That would be wrong of me, right?

/BH can't be beaten by any arc, so far.
//He can be beaten by a TPN, sure, but only because Maelstrom has that Marked for Death and I didn't understand it the first time. Now I got it. Won't die again now.
///But not an arc. Missions do not win against BH.

  18. Ok, now this is an idea I need to try. 8 Brawling Humiliators multiboxed. 8 Fists. All hitting you in the face (or whatever's at shoulder-ish level to BH.) Nothing will survive the thousands of papercuts called Brawl.

    Nothing.

    So RoboCop....

I'mma wait for after it escapes the big screen and see it on Netflix or something. Redbox even.

  22. Intel.com will have a support area, in there you can enter 82945G and get a generic driver.

    HOWEVER.

It is likely you are going to be required to use a specific-to-your-motherboard-or-system-manufacturer driver. If that's Dell, or HP, or Gigabyte, or Asus, or... Then you have to go there.

It is *possible* that a Windows/Microsoft Update might do it too, but that's iffy.

More information via a CohHelper log posted here IN THIS THREAD as a reply would do wonders to help us. Go through the stickies and find the information on how to do that in there, run the program and post the report here.

    See ya then.
  23. I think that is a good point, Rock.

He was here. She was here. They were integrated in the game, and therefore in our lore as the playing characters in the game.

A tribute, annoying as it might be to some because of what States and Sister P means to some (Jack), wouldn't be a bad thing.

The park near AE in Atlas could be the place. The depressed one towards the Hollows entrance. Although I'm not sure a *gigantic 20 story statue set* is the thing, perhaps a couple ala Cyrus in Kings Row would be a good thing. Poignant, not looming. Maybe a history badge or a different type of cape mission can be started/made with them and a history plaque each.

Anyway. I'm for it, but I don't think replacement of other things is needed, and huge is definitely not.
  24. When you edit any tab, you can see on the left or right side, depending, a 'Cutscene Caption' selection along with all the others. If this is NOT in ANY of your tabs whatsoever, you will simply not see the captions.

Further... it may be that if it's not in Global or Chat, and you don't have the tab that DOES have it specifically selected before the cutscene happens... you won't see the captions either.

I've been having problems on my Vista machine with this very thing, and I've chased it down to these two scenarios: Have the CC in the Global or Chat tabs, or have the particular tab up... otherwise, I don't see them. And I have it set up in another tab.

Moar testing is indicated. Seems to be pretty particular in whether it'll show or not. I'd suggest putting it in 'Global' and selecting that tab before running the mission.
  25. Quite simply, yes, this laptop is just not capable of running Co* without putting all graphics at the equivalent of 0... and even then, it's likely to be a very bad experience.

There's enough memory, but barely. I would recommend going to the Toshiba website and updating it was well, but, people...

...We're talking a single core, not very high up the food chain processor in a Celeron 925. Quite possibly one of the worst situations you can do in today's Co*: integrated graphics, slow single core, non-hyperthread processor.

I hate to say this, OP, but you may be better served getting a new box for this game, and NOT a laptop, because you can buy a box cheaper. A Core i3 at the very least, and some decent, $100-150 video card. And a 500 Watt power supply, along with 4G of ram and whatever flavor OS you want that'll still run the game. But that's just me.

    ---

Be that as it may, I suggest you help the situation as best you can by running MSCONFIG (Start orb, type that in, hit enter) and hit the tabs listed and turn these off, as they are taking up precious CPU and Memory resources, at least, when attempting to run Co*. You can always turn them back on later.

You have way too much for that machine to be doing in the first place, IMO, and then you're adding Co* to the mix...? Of course, I'm not sure you don't *need* some of that to be running, but I'm pretty sure you don't need it *all* either.

And finally, when/if you do get in game, you should probably play with the graphics at its very lowest settings possible, and perhaps even in a lower resolution like 1024x768 or such. Anything to not require as much rendering/processing power.

Just to be clear on things, if I may use a car analogy: The game is a high strung thing that needs at least a pony car, if not a muscle car, V8 engine of not inconsiderable output to move it's awesome bulk. Or a turbocharged 6 cylinder european sports car, or something high output such as that. Even a turbo 4 might be enough, if it's got 250HP or more...

You are bringing a small 4 cylinder econobox rated at about 150HP to drag it's heftiness about. As such, *anything* you can do to 'add lightness' to the situation is going to help... but the 4cyl is still a 4cyl, and there's not much else you can do but upgrade the car at some point.

And as usual, YMMV, and don't hold me responsible for a laptop that quit working if that happens. Just tryin' to help, you should google some of this stuff if you feel uncomfortable turning it off or want to check on me. I'm pretty draconian with the computers, KISS is the best policy, hence, the slash and burn above.

Hope that helps in some way... but it's really not a good Co* machine. Sorry, but it's just that kind of game. Several of us use this thing to *kill* suspect computers. We run Co* to ensure the computer's not junk. If it bombs out... that computer is toast, or something in it is anyway. Co* is a special kind of computer killer.
