  1. I will find an appropriate high standing place, face them towards the setting sun, with a salute, snap a pic, and log them out for a final time.

Unless I don't like them. In which case, they're gettin' a jetpack, I'mma take them up to the highest point in the map with the lowest fall possible, then I'm gonna set them on autofly 'thatway'. Take a snap, and begin the logout process. About 3 seconds before that logout happens, I will turn off the jetpack.

I will have logged, but... that character will have splatted upon the earth. In my mind actually. I know that it just faded out before it hit but it's the imagery that's important.

    /Thankfully, I don't have any I hate. So this won't happen.
  2. Don't delete them. Let them ride the servers off into the sunset. No point in doing any less, IMO.

    Driven to drink

I am a lil' mopey. Underwhelming to your reaction, sure, but there it is. :|

I *honestly, truly, really* had aspirations that I'd wake up, come in here to the computer room after showering and gettin' dressed and all, and finding out I was in a food-contamiation-related hallucination last evening and it was all a weird trippy depressing dream.

    Sigh.

So now, I'm thinking about the next three months, and what I'm going to do with **ALL** my characters. Perhaps finally finish the AE story of the Sisters Dawn. Convince my brother to do some art for me regarding things I can't do in game, but want a picture of. (He is quite the artist, but has a family and is a night beat cop)

That sorta thing. And being mopey about the whole damn thing.

I want a large supreme pizza to drown it out, but I must resist.

    ---

I must ask, as I'm a curious sort of fellow... never drink, family taboo... yet you had vodka lyin' around? Or did you go get it?

And be careful. Vodka's nasty stuff at 180 proof. Or fun, depending. I haven't ever drank in a less than jovial mood, myself... but always to excess, I'm not terribly proud to say...

Except I have been known to literally drink everyone else in the place under the table, so there's that.

    Mike

    /Pinnacle represent.
//Binger... glad I drive, or I'd be dead, likely.
///Will *NEVER* drink if it's even remotely possible I'll be driving... and I drive all the time. So I hardly drink. But if I ain't drivin'? On like Donkey Kong. And yes, YOU will lose the contest, poser challenges.
////The best part? Mix 'em up, pour 'em in, outlast them all, go to sleep, wake up, and... nothing. Ready to do whatever, maybe a lil' thirsty.
/////I am an oddity in this thing called life.
//////Oh, kids, don't drink like I do. It's not good for you. Heck, it's not good for me.

Want to save face? Give a public statement! Give an ultimatum. Give your loyal Studio and players a chance to save their game.
QFT. Won't happen, though, but it would at least help rather than let rumors, anger and such like that fester.

THAT is a fantastic idea, but with a twist. Along with Steelclaws... You should incorporate all the opening themes if possible. The Original, CoV, GR, Freedom's. All the sign in music in some way.

But I am going to exit this thread with this: Michelle, I know that both your efforts will be just nothing short of excellence. I look forward to them, with melancholy, but definitely with enthusiasm to see your work.

  6. Oh... wow, now I know why... that's... beautiful, Michelle. Spot on, a tribute video.

I have no personal knowledge of anyone who is fighting crime in a higher plane. I'm thankful for that.

I just wanted to say it will be awesome, and poignant. I look forward to seeing what you do, and know that it will be excellent per usual.

  7. Kinda partial to /WP brutes. Psi protection, well rounded set. Debuff issues sometimes, see: Romans. Ugh.

Rikti and Nemesis don't stand a chance with it though, you can stand there laughing at mobs of +4s.

My last three 50s used /Wp, and did a lot of soloing. The Brawl/WP was *only* soloing, and he's Incarnate.

But yeah, Fire is a lot of win.
  8. In case anyone cares... Imma be ridin' my motorcycle more I think.

There has been, and probably never will be again, a game for me like City of Heroes.

I am just... so sad. I can't even sleep.

/Helluva way to start a weekend.

Late to the party, but I must comment:

Perfectly said through your narrative, Steelclaw.

Well done indeed. I can't imagine anyone that's played this game not being 100% in agreement and commiseration with this viginette. I know I am.

    Thank you.

    To all of you...

    A fond rememberance...

I was doing the impossible, or at least slightly insane. I was leveling a Brawl/WP Brute to 50, solo, street sweeping, no teams, no missions.

I had run into a situation where I needed the Freedom Phalanx Reserve badge... and one of those is the 100 Fake Nemesis.. Ugh...

But... HEY! The Nemesis Invasion! I can do that and get them there! ('cause the one in the Shadow Shard was takin' me forever to do...)

Even better... Zwillmesis was doing the rampaging at Atlas Park on Pinnacle!

I tanked 12 Fake Nem GMs that he spawned... And got my badge. It was a glorious night. Wouldn't have necessarily known it was Zwill except he kinda goofed the "BEWARE MY INVASION" part with his actual Red Name instead of the Nemesis one.

Anyway. Good dang times, sir. I thank you, and the entire staff at Paragon. Thanks to Paragon for an excellent 7+ years... And to you, Andy (as well as the others, natch) much luck on your next chapter of whatever it is you wind up doing. Whoever gets ya is getting a good one.
  11. Just played Brawling Humiliator through a Lady Grey Task Force with the Talsors, and bAss was there... that's where I learnt about the Dev thing.

    Whoa.

And totally Awesome. A Pinnacle Dev. Sweetness.

bAss, thanks much to you and all the Red Names/Devs for your work in keeping CoH, and these forums, the fantastic stuff they are. Good luck in your next endeavour, may the interim be short!

    Brutiful Game

MMs, Doms, 'Trollers, Scrappers, Tanks. Favs.

But then came brutes. OH YES. BROOOOOOT!!!!

    Love 'em. Love 'em lots.

/Although this certain ONE Blaster is kinda fun... Water/Ice.
//I really need to get my one Stalker leveled up, because with a name like Jerry the Deathclown, it just screams to be 50 one day...
  15. Physically... not terrible, provided it's got an ATX mount system in the case. 'Mentally' if you will... well...

Long story short: You will buy a motherboard, power supply AND Operating system to get it to run. And likely, you will also be starting the new operating system from scratch, not upgrading, not saving the Vista installation. So you might as well throw a hard drive in there on the shopping list, make the current one a secondary to get the data then use it for backup.

And... well, the motherboards I can see at newegg are... well, not something I'd buy, to be honest:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=1&srchInDesc=

This list is an LGA775 to work with your Core2Duo, and DDR3 1333 Memory capable.
The power supply is whatever 1000W you wanna get, I would suppose. Pick a good one.

Now, regarding the case... If a standard ATX type mounting system is in it, it looks like it'll just go in there. So you can reuse it. If NOT... then you're buying a case too. And... while it looks like there's an... 80? 90? inch fan mount on the chassis where the water cooling (if it comes with that?) is mounted, then you need to replicate that, or be ok with an air cooler instead. But it *looks* like it's just a standard mid-tower ATX case, so again, if it's got standard ATX mounts, you're good to go with your current case. Unless the pictures I'm seein' aren't right. Been known to happen.

And you will be required to upgrade your OS, because the Vista Key is only going to work on another Alienware/Dell motherboard. That's the way those keys work. Hence the second drive, to keep the other one intact. Providing it's not married to the Alienware system in some way...

Frankly... I would just say "oh well", and build a newer, better, less reliant on any one company computer, but I can understand you wanting to keep this one around. I just think that given what it is, and what you can 'easily', and/or 'reliably' get... You have a real battle on your hands.

I wish you a sincere good luck, and hope that others or yourself have better news than what I've come up with so far...

/I'm sure that I'm gonna see a couple of "nuh-uh!"s on the Vista key... try it. You will find I'm right... legally, that is.
//What you do in your house is your business... and whatever Microsoft figures out.
///You could always go Ubuntu or something...
  16. Hey, OP, any updates? Just curious how it's goin...
  17. I have to say... when I saw all those Power Rangers massed for the epic battle that's gonna happen... I had a big grin install itself on my face. And I'm not even a Rangers fan... I can see how that would be just simply fantastic. AND I wanna see it.

Bad. 'Cause I got a feeling it will be good. Very good. Or at least mildly entertaining enough to have 'been there'(tm).

    ---

As far as Tommy/all the other teams... obviously it's a problem that spans space and time itself, so they're all massed there because The Doctor has been locked in the Pandorica, Mender Silos is off somewhere else worryin' about Battalion, the Starship Enterprise had an accident in their attempt at slingshotting, and HG Wells lost the key to the time machine.

To top it all off, Walker got lost in an alternate timeline, and the DeLorean was destroyed, so Doc and Marty can't be there. Sam Beckett can only be in one of the Rangers (or their enemies) to try to set things right, so he's not a whole lot of help... and even if he was there, the experienced martial arts guy/gal ISN'T, so that particular Ranger will be toast in a few seconds.

So a yet-to-be-revealed Super Thing of Win and Amazingness has transported all of the Rangers across time and space and dimensions and timelines and universes and metaverses and.. well, everywhere... to be here.

    At this soon-to-be hallowed ground.

For the Final Battle to decide it all.

    ---

Or something. I like it. Maybe I'm right.
  18. I've heard sounds from various version of Quake and Doom, Dark Forces, movies, tv shows, etc. in here. The generic background ones as well as the specific character based ones. Just stock stuff.

Still waiting for the two screams of win to show up in a cutscene or something:
The Howie (or Youraagh): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4DX2DBWtTk / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_818rcC0DA (one nfwkids slight dialog bit, you're now warned.)
    And
    The Wilhelm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zf8aB...eature=related

And in both... maybe some slightly NSFkids goriness... maybe.

    /Perhaps I missed them...?

  20. Well, yeah. Trek isn't movie material. I've always said that. It's only that the movies are made with well established characters, so the exploration of those characters isn't needed, just the story.

And... well... yeah, Trek is just not movie material. Sure, you can do a ST:TWOK, and use a popular dual edge sword story of whales/downfall of communism in ST:TVH, but you have ST:TMP and ST:TFF as your undulations.

To be honest, I liked them all. Even Enterprise. Even the 5th Trek movie, as awful as it was. It was still a good Trek story, mostly. Just... really badly told/shown. The scene with McCoy facing his worst human moment? That was *powerful*, and DeForest sold that scene well, IMO. I would suppose that, if they'd done it, Kirk's would be... either a montage, or Edith's death maybe.

But I'm a Trekkie. I see the story and like it for what it is: A Trek episode, drawn out a little, but still Trek, still the characters I am fond of, and there was more to their lives than before. Yay.

The director's cut of TMP is way better than the other versions, and is worth seeing if you haven't. The second half is MUCH improved.

But it's still a long episode with better effects. Use a DVD or something and skip forward past the boring bits.

  24. I didn't see this thread... odd.

I hope I did ok, y'all. BH got the title earlier in the event, and I switched to ToB to get him one. He's more punchy and suited to that many dang arachnos. Plus, he looks awesomer in his swimmin' trunks than BH does.

Overall, though, FUN. Fun fun fun. We are awesomesauce.

/Oh, and BH was *totally* soloing one of those tentacles. It was, though, a stand off like the Pylons. Need moar +dam and -regen... workin' on it.
